Second-In-Command Deimos | @blade12OverviewAn organisation that focuses on gathering information, the Windrose Scouts (WS for short) was formed by a Burmy(now Mothim) named Russell, who dreams of creating a full map of the world. His reasoning for forming the organisation was to gather friends and allies who might help him achieve his dream, whilst he also helped them achieve theirs. As such, the WS doesn't just map the world, but they also investigate various mysteries and oddities that are found in the world, both in the name of creating a world map, and to discover the reason behind mystery dungeons and their ever-changing properties which prevents such places from being mapped. Features of the Windrose Scouts Being so focused on gaining knowledge of the world, one of the WS's main purposes is to investigate various rumours. These rumours are posted on a board in the library and any WS member can take a rumour and investigate it. Once the rumour has been investigated, the character(and as such their Rper) must produce a report documenting the rumour and clarifying whether said rumour had any truth to it, or was completely false. Each report submitted concerning a rumour is eligible for a reward, though it is encouraged to work in pairs and write a joint report if writing at length is harder for you. Although there is no word minimum, better-written reports will get better rewards. Reports about rumours are not the only reports that can be submitted in exchange for various rewards. In their quest for knowledge of all places, members may also submit 'Location Reports' about the general appearance, features and native populations of a specific dungeon or place. Location Reports are eligible for rewards even if they are not the first report submitted for a dungeon or place, as long as the member(s) that have written that report have not written about that location previously. Members can still gain more rewards from a second report about the same location if the report contains information that their previous location report did not. Another feature of being a member of the Windrose Scouts is access to the 'Collection Box', which contains items that can either be taken for free, or have a trade tag attached to enable simple trades between WS members. The Windrose Scouts are based in Fallen Leaf Copse, in a place called The Windrose Library. This library functions as both a residential area for its members and a giant library and archive. It is skillfully built into a large tree and cannot be located easily from the outside unless you have prior knowledge of its location. Those that do know of its location may only access the entrance floor of the library and some of the dormitories, unless they are a member of the Scouts at the Experienced Scout rank. There are only two 'ranks' within the Windrose Scouts, Novice Scouts and Experienced Scouts and members may work up to the latter rank by completing a challenge set by Russell. Novice Scouts are only allowed on the entrance floor and below, whereas Experienced Scouts are acknowledged by Russell and can access the rest of the library. This is a precaution set by Russell to prevent people from using the information the Scouts gain for the wrong reasons. Anyone who joins the Windrose Scouts may change their home dungeon to Fallen Leaf Copse if they wish for their character to live within the Windrose Library as long as they are an approved member. Due to the investigative nature of the organisation, it is also possible that the Windrose Scouts may be responsible for discovering new dungeons through various WS exclusive mini-events. So if you decide to join, keep an eye out for those opportunities! As of 3/3/2019, we will also be allowing people to submit concepts for dungeons and rumours even if none of their characters are members of the Windrose Scouts, however non-members may only partake in threads containing these sorts of investigations or events if there is a Scout member in the thread with their character. Non-WS members will also not be able to claim any rewards even if they helped write a report about a rumour. If you wish to submit a rumour or dungeon concept, please PM me ( @Solilo) or contact me on discord. Short Version: Features;
• Exploring various rumours and phenomenon that are otherwise inaccessible. • Forming reports based on your findings and discoveries in exchange for rewards. • A mini trade center of sorts, exclusive to WS members. • Potential mini-events exclusive to WS members. • Discovering new dungeons. • All members get a free personalised journal item once they reach Experienced rank. |
Entry Requirements There are a few requirements for joining the Windrose Scouts, including the form you will have to fill out a bit later if you decide you want to join. Most of these 'requirements' are things that need to be settled OOC due to the library not being as well known as say, Grassveil Guild is. As such, it's unlikely for a character to merely walk into the library and join like you could with a Guild and one of the requirements for joining is that you must discuss with me, or another member, how you will find out about the Windrose Scouts and/or the library. This can be completely settled out-of-character and is merely done so Rpers have a reference in case it comes up at any point in future threads. Upon approval of your sign-up form, your character will become a Novice Scout. In order to become an Experienced Scout and gain access to the rest of the library in-character, your character must also undergo and complete a small challenge of sorts. These are not designed to be hard, and are more Russell's way of testing your character's, well, character. In-character, Russ will make up a challenge on the spot, but OOC these usually consist of three different options for you to choose from. Once the challenge is completed, you will write a summarising report as one would for a Location or Rumour Report. When you are given your reward for this report, your character will become an Experienced Scout! If you wish to do one of these challenges to gain the Experienced rank, merely PM me or speak ot me on discord. There are a few more, solid rules that concern both joining the Windrose Scouts and being a member. These are as follows: Out of Character Rules
- » Previously, a member of the Windrose Scouts could not be a member of any other organisation. This is no longer the case and you may be both a member of the Scouts and other organisations such as Peak Academy, Grassveil Guild, etc.
- » For a character to become a member of the WS, they must have some interest in exploring and discovering more about the world. As the head of WS, I will personally check character bios to make sure your character is suitable and that they aren't just being made to join so you as a RPer can gain the perks the WS offers.
- » Outlaws can join WS, but are restricted to the Novice Scouts rank. This does not affect their ability to take on and complete rumours or WS events, only their IC ability to access information. Characters who occasionally do something morally grey and reformed outlaws are allowed to become Experienced Scouts, but the latter must somehow prove their reformation.
- » Upon joining the Windrose Scouts, the RPer must decide whether or not their character's home dungeon will switch to Fallen Leaf Copse in order to live within the library.
In-Character RulesNote that breach of any of these rules is grounds to remove your character from the Windrose Scouts.
- » Characters must report all their findings to the library. If you accept the role of investigating a rumour, you will be expected to produce a subsequent report. (This goes for OOC too.)
- » Characters must complete one challenge, the nature of which will be decided by Russell, before they can become an Experienced Scout and gain access to the restricted parts of the library.
- » Experienced Scouts must not allow Novice Scouts or non-members into the restricted areas of the library.
If your character is eligible after going through those OOC rules, then feel free to fill in the form below! When a form is accepted, your character's name will be included in an acceptance post that I will post in this thread. If your character is denied, I will likely message you the reasons why. I will not post in this thread to deny a form, so it is advised that you keep an eye on your PMs when waiting to be accepted. Denied signups will be deleted from the thread within a week of being denied unless they are pending edits to be accepted. If a signup has neither been approved or denied but is still in this thread, then it is likely that I haven't read it yet. If this is true for a post that's been here for longer than a week, feel free to ping me on discord. ^-^' Once again, to apply for a place all you need to do is make sure your character fits the prerequisites, and fill in the form below! Please consult the notes that follow the signup form before filling it in. - Code:
-
[size=11][b]» Character Name:[/b] [b]» Original Bio Link:[/b] [b]» Link to Character's Records:[/b]
[b]» Knowledge:[/b] [b]» Challenge Complete?:[/b]
[b]» Challenge Thread Link:[/b] [b]» Challenge Report:[/b]
[b]» Other Notes:[/b] [/size] Signup Form Notes; - Please make an attempt to use direct character record links rather than broad ones, unless the character is the first to be posted in your records. This means that the link I click will send me directly to the specific post that contains the appropriate character's records. If you are unsure how to do this, just edit the post with the appropriate character in, click send, and then copy the link in the address bar after the thread re-loads. The url should have a set of numbers following the thread name as it shows up in the URL.
-The 'Knowledge' section requires you to consider how your character has or would find out about the library and/or the Windrose Scouts in order to join.
- The 'Challenge Complete' section should be answered with either 'yes' or 'no' and should be edited accordingly when they complete one of Russell's challenges to become an Experienced Scout.
- Challenge Thread Link basically just asks you to link the thread you completed your challenge in. Please use the [url=LINK] [/ url] codes rather than posting long thread links. Just put N/A if you wish for your character to join as a Novice Scout and edit if they become an Experienced Scout later.
- Challenge Report is essentially the report your character writes in order to become an Experienced Scout, after completing the challenge that Russell assigns. These will be posted in the Windrose Archives board and linked here using the [url=LINK] [/ url] codes as in the previous field. Again, if your character is joining as a Novice Scout, put N/A and edit later if they become an Experienced Scout.
- Any other notes to do with your character or their circumstance should be noted in this last section. Miscellaneous information that might be needed, or should be known. Such as, if your character is a reformed outlaw. Etc. Stuff I should know to be able to take into consideration when I'm looking through your bios just in case it isn't clearly available information, and stuff that could be key to leaning my decision to approve can also be noted here, such as traits that would make your character good for being a WS member etc.[/url]If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me and I will add significant ones to an FAQ section in this thread ^-^

| - FAQ -- Questions Concerning the Signup Form:
I'm confused about the 'Knowledge' field? What do I put in it? This field is merely an explanation of how your character came to know about the Windrose Scouts. If your character has heard of the Windrose Scouts through word of mouth, either from Russ or one of it's other members, then that's what you'd have to put here.
I've looked at some people's signup forms and they're different to what I think mine should be? The sign-up thread and the way people sign up has changed since this IO was originally made so that could be the difference. Any sign-up forms posted before 3/3/2019 will probably have different content requirements for their fields, so don't rely on them for examples.
- Questions Concerning Challenges:
What are the challenges? These are a challenge that Russell will give your character. Your character must complete this challenge and report back to Russ before they can become an Experienced Scout and are allowed to access the restricted areas of the Windrose Library in-character.
How do I get a challenge? Just contact me (@Solilo) OOC, either via PM, the site's cbox or discord and ask.
What is the nature of the challenge? The nature of the challenge will be different for mostly everyone. I actually have a master list of challenge suggestions, and Russ will pick one on a whim to allocate to your character. Out of character, you as the RPer actually get to choose which challenge you want your character to undertake, out of three randomly chosen ones.
Can I do a challenge before I've joined WS? You cannot do one before you've joined WS, but you can do one immediately after joining, depending on the character involved.
Can I do a challenge immediately after joining? It depends on the character. If they already seem quite experienced and trustworthy, you could reason that Russell would assign them a challenge immediately. As such, if you think your character fits that description, feel free to contact me and ask me to assign you one!
If my challenge is an item gathering one, can I keep the items I gathered? Items gathered for entry challenges will be placed in the collection box. They'll be listed as free items, so you can request them back if you really want to or just leave them for someone else to make use of.
If my challenge is a 'defeat x pokemon to collect x' one, does it count if I defeat another user character? As long as the pokemon you defeat meets any other requirements given in your challenge, then sure it counts. Just make sure you discuss it with the other RPer beforehand and have them agree to let their character be defeated by yours.
Can I skirt the rules and just ask another player character for x item instead of defeating them? Nope. Your report must be truthful and if the challenge says to defeat a pokemon, then you must defeat someone. My all-seeing out-of-character eyes play a part in making sure people don't cheat the system. If your challenge doesn't say to defeat a pokemon, then that's another matter...
If I have already completed my allocated challenge in a past thread, can I just use the old thread rather than starting a new one? Nope, your challenge must be completed in a thread that was started specifically for completing the challenge.
Is there anything specific I need to note in my challenge thread? Please make a note of the exact wording of the challenge in either the first post, or the description of the challenge thread. This is so that we have an accurate record of what challenge you took without having to dig it out of some deep dark archive /shot
- Miscellaneous Questions:
Where do the special journals that WS members get come from? Russ makes them and personalises them each for his members that reach Experienced rank. Think of it as his little gift cause he's enthusiastic about his chosen profession and the friends he makes along the way ^-^
Will I get a cool sprite for my personalised journal? Honestly if I have time to make one then yes. I'll try and do one for everyone who completes a challenge eventually, and it is my intention that everyone get a different sprite for their journal, but I may not always have the time to do one right away.

So things went pretty well for me for my second trip at the Fallen Leaf Copse. Russel gave the assignment of finding a special leaf that are located here. Now in retrospect I probably should have asked for more details about the leaves and whatnot, but hey live and learn right? Anyways I still jumped at the opportunity to go back there. The color palate of the area is so pretty. It is also rather perplexing. Due to the water surrounding the copse it gives the area a very cool temperature. Now put that in contrast with the colors that are associated with the warmth, your reds, and yellows that come from the colorful leaves and you get a rather confused area.
I probably should get back on topic. I arrived at the entrance of the ever-changing copse and was completely ready to attempt my assignment by myself. However, I was fortunate enough to find another pokemon that was willing to help me. Her name was Lumina, a ninetails. She was much more strong that I am currently. Not all that long into our journey in the copse we found one of the leaves that I was told about. It was purple and I tried to make a run for it and grab it but I am not a fast pokemon. Thankfully my new friend was. She managed to get to the leave with ease and gave it to me not asking for anything in return. She told me that these were a pretty common thing there and was pretty confused as to why I had to find one. While I do love the scenery there, there is just so much more to explore out in this crazy world of ours. I can’t wait to see everything else it was to offer!

A curious sight was the dark forest of Shadowhue, someplace filled with greater enigma than the talented mind could procure out of sheer creativity, and an encounter of the unexpected proved the dungeon's mystery beyond compare to be true.
It's always been an ongoing endeavor to unfold the mysteries of the Mysterious Stone and its properties, but I learned more about it from this single exploration than I have in all of my research.
As expected, the indigenous Pokemon were hostile, but not necessarily at a lack of intelligence. In fact, the gang of Pokemon that welcomed me with an attack were after the stone I was studying, and they seemed to know what it was. A mega stone, that would contain the ability to cause a Pokemon to mega evolve, an ability long rumored in history but never fully understood. The Mysterious Stone looked nothing like how the temporary evolution items are depicted to be like, yet that would explain why they seem to have an unseen importance and why their mysteries have never been unlocked by the likes of me.
Fortunately, at the assistance of Kelina, I was rescued from the violent insects that had attacked, my health improving at the expense of my Lum Berry to cure the poisoning inflicted by the Ariados. And to much of a surprise, Kelina seems to be applying to enter the organization, as well.
Aside from Kelina, who is presumably a town Pokemon, there is evidence that feral Pokemon there are not only capable of being intelligent, but also of being kind. A particular Flabébé we came across had no interest in attacking and instead sought out to help heal me in my poisoning. Contrary to the popular belief, it seems wild Pokemon can be capable of both speech and a caring nature, so it still remains a mystery as to why many Pokemon in dungeons are so hostile.
As for the items within the dungeon, the edible kind appear to come in a great variety, as I came to find that there was an Oran Berry and a Reviver Seed within the area we explored. Though all I have to bear is the seed, since my partner ate the berry, I believe the berries in the forest, too, can come in a variety, and are most likely more common than the rare seed. Given that encountering an edible item was less likely than encountering non-edibles, however, it seems the dungeon would not be the best place to search for berries and seeds at a mass, but can properly provide a fair amount of items in ratio to Pokemon and time.
In conclusion, I believe there are many more mysteries in dungeons and the world than we can hope to solve as a singular unit, so I hope to vastly contribute to the team in a common search for knowledge and answers. Thus, I will strive to undertake my aspirations, now to the access of anyone within the organization as deemed fit. As part of a team, I shall be willing to compile shared knowledge in order to reach the goals of our missions, and so I dearly wish to supply this society with all that I know and to provide an intelligence on every subject to exhibit the world and its mysteries to the sight of all curious Pokemon. May your organization's studies do wonders for the world. Sincerely, Genevieve Treavus.
» Other Notes: Was originally an aspiring shopkeeper, but ditched her dream to join this organization as a less competitive job

It seems that being a part of this organization will be much more challenging and fun than working at the lame old guild! My task was to collect three inedible items from the Shadowhue Forest. Upon entering the forest, my first thoughts were that the forest was aptly named, as the tall trees and thick canopy prevented much light from reaching the innards of the forest. I found an oran berry on a bush amongst the roots of a tree, and used it for sustenance, as it was not part of my task.
After looking around a few more tree roots, I found an unusual box, nestled in the roots of the tree, as if some feral pokemon had stashed it there for later. It was then that I heard a cry of pain from a pokemon. I flew towards the sound, and found a gang of pokemon attacking a misdreavus! The gang of pokemon were a heracross and two ariados. The heracross was attempting to steal a strange stone from the misdreavus. I flew down and snatched the stone before the bug could take it.
The heracross followed me in a chase across the skies. I was able to dodge his attacks easily with my superior flying skills, along with adding a few pecks here and there. The misdreavus was able to join the fight, and knocked the heracross out with a strong psywave. The ariados minions fled at the sight of their boss fainting.
It turned out that the misdreavus' name was Miss Treavus, and she was also completing a task for the Windrose Scouts! We talked for a while before getting back to our tasks. I found a cacnea spike when it fell from a tree, along with a seed of some sort. Then I found another unusual box hidden under a bush. My tasks were complete! All in all, I would say that Shadowhue Forest, despite its vicinity to Grassveil and the constant explorers in it, is more dangerous than one would first think.
» Other Notes: Bring on the weirdo relationship!!! :3 Also, she once had aspirations for the guild but is now disillusioned about them.

I suppose I should start from the beginning shouldn't I. The location that this challenge took place was the fog covered area by the name of "Pricklemist Hill". My challenge was to defeat three foe's within that dungeon, which I have completed. Evidence of two of those victories exist within the small bag submitted with this report, two Seviper fangs.
As it was not my first foray into the fog covered region, I felt generally at home within the area, being able to effectively utilise my fur colouration to hide within the fog until it was time to strike. Another non-feral was present within the area at the time of performing the challenge. This being, a Charmander by the name of Hidon, decided to intervine while I was dealing with a specific target, thus I made him the third.
Using my natural camouflage I took a high vantage point, blending in with the terrain extremely well while I waited for the aforementioned targets to reveal themselves. Using the Charmander unwillingly as bait due to it's burning tail providing a beacon within the ocean of white, he pulled in three targets.
The first, from what I could sense, moved at extremely fast speeds on a straight path, large quantities of soil being kicked up, allowing me to keep track of the situation. Judging from what I presume was a low turn rate, I believe it is safe to assume that it was a member of the Linoone family which I have encountered in the region before.
The 'Linoone' made several runs on the Charmander before retreating and not returning, seeming to use it's high speed to it's advantage. When it left, I felt two more entities moving through the area, leaving a constant trail as if something was being dragged. To clarify what these beings were, they were the prior owners of the two fangs included within this report.
The two Seviper assaulted the Charmander, providing me with all the evidence I needed to know they were hostile and most likely feral. From a distance, I had a simple plan, strike with my multi purpose attack, Stone Edge from afar, using their imprints on the ground to try and guide the strikes. From what I can tell, both of these attacks struck true, however they weren't overly effective and one accidently seemed to strike the Charmander.
Closing at this stage to focus on a more hit and run fighting style I seperated one for a moment and struck with a Quick Attack. Though the attack struck, I soon found my torso wrapped and constricted by the Seviper's tail. Considering the fact that I didn't have a means of efficiently breaking through, I immobilized the target by pinning it down from the neck.
The second Seviper came from behind and merely struck me with a status move. Now knowing the move to be known as "Swagger", I honestly regret what I did in that state. Forced into a state of full mental confusion, two emotions came clear through, pain and anger... Thus came rage. Using my horn, I slammed down on the Seviper, delivering a powerful slice to the neck while I was unable to control myself.
Once I broke free of the first, I felt two fangs piercing deep into my side, however in my rage fuelled state I pressed through and slammed the second one down, digging into it with my claws. Setting up my Future Sight move, I soon felt a strong, searing pain to my side which caused me to stagger. It turned out that the Charmander had seen enough and wanted to bring me into unconsciousness.
Putting two and two together, I used the immobilized Seviper as a weapon itself by swinging it at the Charmander, having the bolstered strength necessary from the Swagger move. By releasing the Seviper and changing focus to the Charmander I was forced to rely on my Future Sight for protection against it.
To summerize my engagement with the Charmander in battle, I generally used my bolstered strength and priority to keep it worn down on the defensive. The fight finally ended through an improvised Sucker Punch attack through my horn from an off centred charge, having stopped a Dragon Rush in the process. Looking back on it now, I realize that I would have fallen unconscious if I had not landed that interruptive strike.
To summarize, the targets that were brought down were two members of the Seviper species and a non Feral Charmander. Hopefully this will do for your report, Russel.

» Other Notes: At one point in time, Deimos served as a Knight belonging to Victoria's kingdom (Before the app actually became a thing), however he left due to seeing no gain or support for what he was after. He decided to join for personal reasons and to gain support for his wish to better understand the world.

» Knowledge: Judaki heard about the Windrose Scouts from a member or former member/ally of the Windrose Scouts who happened to be in Aileron Village and ran into him into a bookstore while he was reading scrolls. They would figure out he was friendly, had a voracious appetite for knowledge, and while was more on the reserved side, was more then willing to follow them when they offered to lead him to the Windrose library, where he immediately was entranced by their mission and all that they had done and tried to find a place for himself by approaching someone about joining and helping somehow. » Challenge Complete?: Nope!
» Challenge Thread Link: N/A » Challenge Report: N/A
» Other Notes: I don't think so

» Knowledge: Valen is already a member of Peak Academy, and Saturn the Cubone happens to have recently joined, and shares the Expeditionary Studies major with Valen. Saturn already knows about the Windrose Scouts, and told Valen about it and that its headquarters are somewhere in Fallen Leaf Copse as an incentive to eventually get Valen to explore Fallen Leaf Copse along with Saturn. Valen really likes adventuring (all reasons why are mentioned in his bio), so it would be natural for him to want to join once he heard about it. (Note: Saturn the Cubone is RP'd by southpawXlegacy, who has given me permission to mention his character in this context). » Challenge Complete?: No
» Challenge Thread Link: N/A » Challenge Report: N/A
» Other Notes: Valen is already a member of both Peak Academy and the Aileron Guild. But he is confident enough about himself that he is willing to take on joining a third organization xD.

» Knowledge: Saturn bumped into Deimos in Cattail Marsh while exploring. As they traveled together, Deimos told him about the Windrose Scouts, what area their library resides in, and most importantly, what they do. Saturn was immediately intrigued and decided he wanted to join. » Challenge Complete?: No
» Challenge Thread Link: N/A » Challenge Report: N/A
» Other Notes: Saturn has joined Peak Academy and will likely join a guild in the future. | |
