Windrose Scouts Empty
PostSubject: Windrose Scouts   Windrose Scouts EmptyTue Sep 01, 2015 3:49 pm

» Organisation Name: Windrose Scouts
» Aims:
  • Creating a map of the world
  • Investigating the mysteries and oddities of the world
  • Discovering how mystery dungeons work
» Base Location: As it's a secret to all but WS members, I notified my fellow admin of the location and they have approved it.

» Organisation Head: Russell the Burmy
» Link to bio of head: Link
» Second-In-Command: None Currently
» Link to bio of second: None Currently

» Does your organisation need a separate board?: Yes
» Justification: The knowledge kept within the WS base is secret to everyone except the organisation's members. Having a separate board will allow me to keep the records that are added secret from members who do not have a character who is a member. WS also has features such as a bulletin that contains different rumours. Having a separate board for the base and a board for posting rumours would allow the system to work a lot more smoothly.
» Other needs: None, unless having a board within a board counts.

» Board Name: The Windrose Library
» Board Description: The base and home of the Windrose Scouts. The place functions as both a residential area for all of it's members and a giant library. It is skillfully build into a large tree and cannot be located easily from the outside unless you have prior knowledge of it's location. Though primarily built into the tree, the library also extends underground and records submitted by it's members are kept in large archives. The method of entering the library is also kept secret from non-members.

» Rules of your organisation:

-If a character is a member, that same character cannot be a member of another organisation at the same time.
-For a character to be a member they should really have some sort of interest in exploring and finding out about the world. You shouldn't just apply for the perks. I will personally read through bios to see whether an applying character is a good fit or not.
-A character cannot join if they are an outlaw. Neutral characters that sometimes do stuff morally grey are fine and reformed outlaws are fine, but not actual outlaws. Reformed outlaws must also somehow prove that they are reformed.
-A character must report all their findings back to the library. This mostly concerns when characters take a rumour to investigate, as it's not fair to take the rumour and disallow someone else to investigate it if they don't plan on subsequently writing the correct reports. If writing reports is an issue for you, i'd suggest working in a pair and helping each other write a report rather than doing it alone.
-A member cannot and must not reveal the location of the library to non-members. Doing so is grounds enough to get the character removed from the organisation.
-Upon joining the Windrose Scouts, the character's 'home dungeon' will automatically switch to where the WS base is located.

» Extensive Description of Organisation:

The Windrose Scouts are a solo organisation, not affiliated with any Guild ect., and it's goal is to explore everywhere and create a map of the world. They are fixated on information gathering and the members tend to write reports after going places and submit them to be read and analysed for new information. The organisation loves investigating mysteries and oddities and so mystery dungeons are also of particular interest to them, especially as they cannot properly map mystery dungeons due to their ever changing landscapes.

They have a 'secret library' as a base, potentially located within a dungeon somewhere, where they keep all of information they learn. It's secret to protect the information from peeps who might use it for shady purposes. Perhaps we could have a separate board for the library and only members who have a character who is a member can access the board. A perk of the organisation could be getting little tidbits of information that might not be accessible to the majority of the site.

It is important to note that they're not in any way secret agents and do not specialise in anything like espionage, despite their secret base. They're just an organisation that strives for knowledge and keeps to themselves to prevent unsavory types from using the knowledge for crime.

The organisation would occasionally discover new dungeons and stuff through mini organisation exclusive events. (These wouldn't be hugely important dungeons like for main site events and would likely be few and far between. I am personally considering this feature's use to introduce dungeons that are suggested by other users etc, since that's been a demand for a while.)

The organisation has a bulletin which peeps can use to request stuff to and from others within the organisation. Upon the board, members/NPCs also post rumours they've heard about occurrences within specific dungeons. Members of the organisation can pick a rumour and investigate it. Whether the rumour turns out to be true, half-true or false is up to the RPer, but they must then report their findings in a minimum of 500 words report of what was discovered and whether the rumour was found to be true or false. Submitted reports will get some form of reward.

Reports will usually contain a summary of the thread that the character RPed, as well as a description of the dungeon and a description of the rumour and whether it's true or not. Listing pokemon that your character has found to be native to a dungeon in your report is also fine, but you must not list specific items that you found within dungeons as that is against site rules in the spirit of making things more interesting.

A similar thing to the rumour 'jobs' comes into play with new dungeons. To start with, the organisation will need reports from all dungeons whether a user has chosen to investigate a rumour or not, as there are currently no reports due to the organisation being only be recently started when my character is made. However, as time goes on and the basic information about each dungeon is covered by those submitting reports, basic reports about dungeons will no longer gain rewards for submission and instead only the rumour 'jobs' in that dungeon will. Of course this process starts up again with every new dungeon that crops up. Peeps will need to submit reports about the dungeons and their environments.

If more than one person submits what i'm going to dub a 'basic' report for a dungeon, unless each report touches on different aspects of the dungeon, then only the best report will get a reward.

In order to gain a membership in this organisation, the RPer must fill out an application for their character, so that we have an accurate record of who joins. If the character itself is approved OOC, then we will discuss with the RPer how their character will find out about the investigative organisation and either set up a thread or make sure that both parties are aware of how the character found out. Before a character can become a part of the organisation, they'll have to complete a small challenge. There will be more than one challenge to choose from, and they'll only be simple things such as obtaining two consumable items from a specific dungeon, or fetching a scale from a defeated pokemon or even writing 200 words about a specific dungeon. (My char will make them up on the spot so assume some sort of variety xD) The challenges are basically to check whether the character and RPer are serious enough about signing up that they'll do the challenge, though not to hard as to become frustrating to those who wish to join.

Once you gain membership in the organisation, you get access to the library's board, as well as the bulletins within it and can chase rumours in exchange for rewards. You also have access to the 'collection box'. This box is a communal place to put items, shared by all members of the organisation. You can place items here and attach a trade tag to them, requesting for a specific item in return, or you can place items in there to be freely taken and used by anyone who happens to want them. This is in the spirit of the members wanting to help each other in their adventures as they chase rumours, as it would allow some characters access to important items that they may otherwise not be able to find or afford.
To take an item from the collection box, I think i'd probably have some sort of form rather than a trust system. A form would also be useful for keeping a record of what items are left as it can be neatly organised.
