The Jewels of Sinnoh

A boy of the age 14 approached the lab, he fixed his one strap backpack so that it didn't feel awkward. He was going to get his first pokemon from the professor. His jet black hair was a bit wild and short, his blue eyes seemed to pierce through anything like a hawk. He had been waiting years for this, he wondered if he would make any friends, he wasn't a very social type you see. His mother had kept him sheltered from others, "Too delicate and sickly" he was in his mother's opinion. His father had finally convinced her to let her child go, after all he had no health issues whatsoever. He wondered if he could even become champion of sinnoh, 'no.' he thought to himself, 'I'm probably just setting myself up for a huge fall.' he thought. He sighed and knocked on the door, his red t-shirt swished a bit and his black baggy pants ruffled as he walked backwards, making way for the door if it opened.

The bidoof didn't flinch; it continued toward the starly, growling at it, and trying to deal some more damage. The trainer saw that this was probably not going to be good for him. So he returned his bidoof while it was in the middle of it's attack and sent out a pokemon he had caught in the cave to the city, Zubat. The zubat fluttered about getting ready to attack.

Gabriel was growing annoyed by the fleeing abra, he turned to the correct direction and followed it. He didn't care about getting closer to the battle, "Will you sit still for one moment?" he cried.

"Straight in there with a Growl, Zephyr!" called Amelia, the Starly doing so whilst carrying on his Tackle move from before. He lowered the Zubat's attack before attempting to charge into it and damage it so that he could get a decent upper hand before his new opponent had even made a move.

The Abra seemed not to care about Gabriel's annoyance and teleported once more. It went past the battle and sat a short distance away.

The zubat was damaged by the starly, it screeched in pain and used supersonic. It hoped to confuse it and then go in for a flinch-fest with astonish to the oppodent would have trouble doing anything. It screeched loudly and sent confusing waves toward the Starly.

Gabriel finally became close enough to the abra to throw. He chucked the pokeball at the abra, the pokeball whistled toward the abra like a baseball and was aiming to hit the back of it's head.

The Starly did become confused, but Amelia was already there with her next command.
"Astonish! Use the soundwaves to damage Zubat!" she called, quite on the ball with her quick thinking, "Alternate it with Growl!"

The Starly nodded, using Astonish and screeching again. The sound aimed to cause flinching whilst the soundwaves themselves attempted to damage their opponent. Next, Zephyr used Growl, lowering the Zubat's attack for the second time.

The Abra Teleported away mere milliseconds before the Pokeball would have collided with the back of it's head.

The Zubat went down quickly, it was freshly caught. The Zubat screeched in pain and fell to the ground defeated. The trainer withdrew his pokemon and grew sick of feeling like a toy. He grabbed a great ball and threw it onto the field. Out popped an Onix! The Onix roared, making itself seem powerful even though it was a fairly low level.

Gabriel picked up his pokeball. Growling in agitation, he chucked the pokeball to where abra had teleported next from where he stood. He had grown tired of running about.

"Zephyr, come back!" called Amelia, the Starly nodding ad fluttering back over to his trainer.
"Alright Bubbles, Onix is a rock type right? This should be a piece of cake for you!" she grinned, "Bubble!"

The Piplup hopped off of Amelia's shoulder, landing neatly on the ground and immediately loosing his Bubble attack on the Onix before him. He was a proud Pokemon and didn't want to waste any time. He especially didn't want to lose against a Pokemon that his type was super effective against.

The Abra Teleported again, this time jut after the Pokeball left Gabriel's hand. It was as if it was toying with the trainer, never teleporting too far away.

The onix screamed in pain as the bubbles hit him. He immediately fell to the ground leaving the youngster astounded. He picked his bidoof's ball and tossed the bidoof back onto the field, his last pokemon. The bidoof was also not doing to well on health too. The bidoof ran at the piplup with a normal tackle attack.

Gabriel picked up his pokeball once more. He chucked it at the abra even harder than the first time. The pokeball whistled toward the Abra once more. Gabriel was willing to do this all day if he had to.

Amelia winced as the Onix was brought down. She knew it would be easier using water type moves but she hadn't thought it'd be a one hit K.O. Blinking she called Bubbles back.

"Alright," she blinked, grabbing her third and final Pokemon, "Go Shinx!"
Before she could call out an attack she grinned, "I have the perfect name for you, what about Electra?"

The Shinx blinked before smiling at the name.
"Alright then! Okay, right. Electra, use..." she checked her Pokedex, "Shock Wave!"

As the Bidoof charged towards her, the Shinx parted her jaws, letting a beam of bright blue electricity out of her mouth. Amelia watched as the electric attack hit the Bidoof with flawless accuracy.

The Abra meanwhile, teleported again, drawing Gabriel closer to the battle once more.

The bidoof was shocked, literally. It growled while lowering it's head, it's defense was raised as it prepared it's next attack.

The trainer grew more frustrated, he knew he was going to lose even with this move. He was doomed to failure.

Gabriel picked up his pokeball, AGAIN. He decided to try and trick the abra into thinking he gave up, then when it least expected it, he would chuck the pokeball at it. He turned away from the abra and pretended to focus on the battle.

"Tackle!" called Amelia. Electra nodded before charging towards the curled up Bidoof. It didn't matter to her that her attack had just been slightly reduced as she had already dealt a bit of damage with the electrical attack beforehand.

The Abra meanwhile sensed the trick, but seemed to acknowledge Gabriel's intelligence for attempting to catch it that way. It teleported slightly closer to him, giving him a fair chance to catch it.

The shinx and the bidoof collided head on head, the bidoof using Skull Bash and the shinx's tackle. The two froze for in that position of a moment, continuing to press against each other. The bidoof finally grew dizzy and fell over, leaving the Shinx the title of having a thick head.

Gabriel quickly threw the pokeball at the abra, the ball once again whistled toward the abra at a high speed.

Electra waddled backwards a few steps, shaking her head to rid it of the ringing from the collision. Skull Bash was a powerful move, especially versus Tackle, and so she didn't escape unscathed. However, the Bidoof had not just been damaged, it had been completely knocked out. Amelia jumped for joy.
"That was awesome Electra!" she grinned, the Shinx bounding over to her. Amelia bent down, Electra nuzzling her face with her fluffy, blue furred cheek.

The Abra teleported again, just enough to get away from the ball. It dropped, rolling along the ground. The Abra teleported again, ending up right next to where the ball landed. It picked it up in his paw, staring at the trainer. The contact he had with the ball drew him inside and the ball shook. Once... Twice...

The trainer fell to his knees and returned his pokemon to his pokeball. He grew furious and said, "I'll get you back, one day!" he picked up his pokeballs and ran to get to the pokecentre. He was soon out of sight.

"CLICK!" the ball stopped shaking signaling the abra was caught, Gabriel sighed in relief. He was glad the abra had decided to pick up the pokeball, most likely deciding to join him. His turtwig caught up to him finally, panting. It fell over in exaggerated exhaustion. Gabriel returned to Amelia and said, "Got what i wanted." He was a bit furious though that he didn't catch the pokemon on his own. He calmed down, all that mattered was that he had gotten a new friend.

Amelia shrugged. She was just glad none of her Pokemon had been seriouly hurt, though she did feel a pang of guild for knocking up the kid's Pokemon so badly. He aid he'd beaten Roark's gym though right? Perhaps it would be easier than she anticipated.... or maybe the trainer had been lying and she would end up walking in there unprepared. She decided to not go with either answer and jut train her Pokemon as she would normally.

Gabriel came over to her a few moments later, "Awesome!" she grinned.
"Do you want to train with it for a while or would you rather rest for a bit?" she asked, looking at the Turtwig with a chuckle.

"We should keep moving. I can have him battle any kriketot trainers might have or any wild ones. I heard that those kind of pokemon also lived around here." He looked at his abra's pokeball. According to the pokedex, all it knew was teleport and fire punch, "I'll name you Saix." he mumbled before putting the pokeball in his bag. Turtwig looked up at Gabriel and wondered where they were heading next.
