The Jewels of Sinnoh

A boy of the age 14 approached the lab, he fixed his one strap backpack so that it didn't feel awkward. He was going to get his first pokemon from the professor. His jet black hair was a bit wild and short, his blue eyes seemed to pierce through anything like a hawk. He had been waiting years for this, he wondered if he would make any friends, he wasn't a very social type you see. His mother had kept him sheltered from others, "Too delicate and sickly" he was in his mother's opinion. His father had finally convinced her to let her child go, after all he had no health issues whatsoever. He wondered if he could even become champion of sinnoh, 'no.' he thought to himself, 'I'm probably just setting myself up for a huge fall.' he thought. He sighed and knocked on the door, his red t-shirt swished a bit and his black baggy pants ruffled as he walked backwards, making way for the door if it opened.

The starly took the hit head on thinking it could stand it, it was wrong. The starly was blown into a tree and KO'd. It woke a few moment later, smiling. It motioned for them to follow and walked despite it's injuries.

Gabriel wondered what the starly was doing, he said, "I think it wants us to follow." the turtwig rolled his eyes as if to say, "Thank you captain obvious!" and walked ahead of Gabriel.

Amelia blinked at the Starly's motion, looking to Gabriel before laughing at his Turtwig's eye roll. Bubbles looked quite pleased with himself for defeating their opponent. He quickly climbed back up onto Amelia's shoulder.
"Lead on," smiled Amelia before they followed the Starly.

The starly lead them through dense bushes and forest until they reached a rather large tree. There was a hallow spot in the roots that were big enough for a small pokemon to fit in. The starly pointed to the whole with it's wing and the pointed to Amelia. Trying to tell her that something was inside!

Gabriel watched from behind Amelia, not saying anything. This was Amelia's prize, not his. He had no right to interrupt whatever was going on. Turtwig took a step closer but came no further into the hole.

Amelia followed the Starly to the tree, blinking at the bird Pokemon. She paused before she moved over to the tree and bent down, looking into the hole in the roots that the Starly had pointed to. Blinking at the sight of the Shinx, she looked back at the Starly.

"Hey there," she smiled, turning back to the Shinx, "Are you alright?"

The shinx noticed that a human was peeking into it's hiding spot. It backed against the back of the hole and hissed at the trainer, unsure of who it was. The shinx growled a bit too to make itself appear tougher. The starly tweeted frantically, but the Shinx showed no sign of letting up.

Gabriel eyed the hole, curious of what was down there. His turtwig yelped in fear and fled back to Gabriel's side. The turtwig hid behind Gabriel's legs, it had never seen a Shinx this mean looking before.

"Shhh, it's alright," smiled Amelia warmly, "I don't want to hurt you. I just want to help."
Her voice was quiet as she tried to get the Shinx to trust her. She was worried about it, for surely the Starly would't have brought her here unless there was something it wanted her to do.
"Piplup, pip," Bubbles cried, trying to reassure the Shinx.

The shinx leaped out of the hole at an opening it saw to the side. It hissed and revealed itself, a badly beaten Shinx that needed medical attention.

A bidoof walked onto the scene from behind the shinx with a tackle attack on the shinx. The shinx cried out in pain as it rolled toward the trainers. Two more Bidoofs followed it, the starly panicked and fled the scene, terrified of the bidoofs.

The turtwig leaped in front of the shinx with a command from Gabriel. Turtwig glared at the bidoofs, when the shinx was abandoned the bidoofs must have continued to attack the shinx even without a trainer was his guess. The turtwig shouted at the bidoofs before backing up a bit before the bidoofs advanced. Turtwig was going to need help against these guys, even though they were quite weak.

"Bubbles! Icy Wind!" she called.
Icy wind was a useful long range attack that would hopefully keep the Piplup out of the Bidoof's reach whilst she helped the Shinx.
"Keep them occupied!"

Amelia gently crouched down next to the Shinx.
"It's okay. It's okay," Amelia reassured it, "We need to get you to a Pokemon centre."
Not wanting to confine the Shinx to a Pokeball against it's will, Amelia gently edged her arms underneath the Shinx's small frame, trying to pick it up without irritating it's other injuries.

The Bidoofs charged towards Bubbles and Gabriel's Turtwig. The Piplup continued to use Icy wind, but the move wasn't as effective on the Bidoof as it had been on both Starly. In a moment of hesitation, Bubbles stopped the cold winds. Just for a moment. However, when he breathed out again, instead of cold, icy wind an array of blue bubbles were emitted. They shone iridescent colours in the sunshine, but upon hitting the Bidoof on the right, they popped, exploding and damaging it.

Turtwig, who was still injured from the previous bidoof, felt awkward. He felt as if something was flowing into him and giving him life, he watched as a bigger bidoof cried in agony as it's life force was drained. Turtwig had learned Absorb! Gabriel knew this move, he had Turtwig use it over and over on the same bidoof until it finally collapsed onto the ground, drained.

The other two bidoofs were suffering a lack of speed from the bubble, the bidoofs flanked the piplup and one bidoof tucked it's head in as it's defense raised. The other ran at the piplup with fury swipes!

The shinx was KO'd and didn't respond to any touch.

"Spin and use Bubble!" called Amelia, recognizing the new move in all of it's simplicity, "Hit them all at once!"
Bubbles blinked, having never been asked to do anything like that before. However he obliged, balancing on the tip of one foot and spinning as he used Bubble. As he did so, the Bubbles hit the Bidoofs that were flanking him. He kept it up until he felt dizzy. Amelia told him to spin the other way to un-dizzify himself, using Bubble again as he did so to try and land as many hits as possible.

Amelia stood back as this was happening, keeping the Shinx away from the danger. It wouldn't be long and she could get this Shinx to the next town's Pokemon centre. Everything would be all right.

The turtwig withdrew into his shell so he wouldn't be harmed by the bubbles. Gabriel took a step back, out of the bubble's reach. The bidoofs squealed in pain, one fell to the ground KO'd while the other still stood, only to be taken down my a tackle from turtwig, "We have to head to the next town, and fast." he stated. Turtwig looked at the shinx, clearly concerned for it.

The starly was observing from above, when it saw that the shinx was safe it glided away to a different part of the route, away from trainers.

Amelia nodded and motioned with her head for Bubbles to come over before she dashed off towards the next town.. or rather city, which was a few minutes closer than Sandgem Town now.
Bubbles wobbled on his feet for a moment before nodding and dashing after the two trainers.

Some minutes later, they reached Jubilife City. Amelia noted the transition of grass and sand to pavement and tarmac, but didn't say anything. She was too busy looking around for the red roof she needed. Finally spotting it, she took a sharp turn and dashed down the street until she reached the Pokemon Centre.

Gabriel followed, turtwig behind him. They reached the pokemon center, he was walking in when he heard a trainer leaving mumbling about Abra sightings nearby. His step hesitated for a moment so he could hear more, but the trainer had left beyond earshot. The turtwig lead the way to the counter and put his forelegs on the counter's wall. "Turt!"he cried, getting the attention of nurse joy.

The nurse turned at the sound of a Turtwig to see the group at the counter.
"Can you help this Shinx?" asked Amelia, still cradling the injured Flash Pokemon in her arms.

"What happened?" asked the nurse, staying calm as she summoned a group of Chansey over.
"We don't know. A Starly led us to it..." replied Amelia, handing the Shinx to the nurse who then gently placed it on a stretched to take into another room.
"We'll tend to it immediately," she promised before disappearing off to evaluate the injuries.

Bubbles looked up at his trainer, his head tilted slightly to the left.
"It'll be alright," Amelia reassured herself. Those Bidoof were strong though, she just didn't get why they would attack the Shinx to the point of it being that injured. Amelia turned and was about to slump down on one of the chairs when she remembered the Starly she had caught earlier.

Taking the Pokeball from her bag, she turned to hand it to a second nurse, who had come to replace the first's position at the counter.
"Uhm.. hi. Could you heal my Pokemon?" she asked, the nurse nodding. Amelia handed her the Starly's pokeball before Bubbles jumped up onto the counter. Amelia sifted through her bag until she found the Piplup's pokeball.
"Alright. You be good now," she smiled, "I'll see you in a little while."

"Piplup!" he smiled before Amelia returned him to his pokeball and handed it to the nurse. The young trainer then finally turned back and slumped down in one of the chairs, glad to finally sit down after all that running.

Gabriel picked up his turtwig and placed it on the counter, a nurse came and he requested for him to be healed. The nurse nodded and a group of chansey came to assist in healing the turtwig. Gabriel took a seat next to Amelia, "Only went through one route and you already have two new pokemon." he stated. He chuckled, "I'll be lucky if I catch an abra in the next route." he stretched out his legs and crossed them, his black sneakers squeaking on the tile floor. He waited to see if Amelia would reply or say anything about the recent events.
