The Jewels of Sinnoh

A boy of the age 14 approached the lab, he fixed his one strap backpack so that it didn't feel awkward. He was going to get his first pokemon from the professor. His jet black hair was a bit wild and short, his blue eyes seemed to pierce through anything like a hawk. He had been waiting years for this, he wondered if he would make any friends, he wasn't a very social type you see. His mother had kept him sheltered from others, "Too delicate and sickly" he was in his mother's opinion. His father had finally convinced her to let her child go, after all he had no health issues whatsoever. He wondered if he could even become champion of sinnoh, 'no.' he thought to himself, 'I'm probably just setting myself up for a huge fall.' he thought. He sighed and knocked on the door, his red t-shirt swished a bit and his black baggy pants ruffled as he walked backwards, making way for the door if it opened.

Cranidos hid behind a rock, avoiding the beams of bubble. It then used the cover of the rock to leap us and for a headbutt from above. He made sure that the piplup didn't see him leap up so it would think that he was still behind the rock. Roark kept quiet about the cranidos' attack. He made sure not to watch his pokemon so the piplup wouldn't follow his gaze.

Amelia however, saw the Headbutt coming.
"Bubblebeam, upwards!" she called. The Piplup turned to see the Cranidos' attack. He quickly loosed his Bubblebeam attack so that it headed directly towards the rock type. Being in the air, it would be much harder for him to dodge.
For the second time that battle, a white glow then appeared. It covered Bubbles' body for a few moments as he grew taller and his limbs lengthened. When the light cleared he had become a powerful Prinplup.

Amelia did a little leap of joy. She was so proud of her Pokemon!

The cranidos shrieked in pain and fell to the ground. It lay still, KO'd. Roark clapped his hands "Bravo! You beat me!" he reached into his pocket and pulled out a gym badge. He handed it to Amelia and said, "Congratz on winning and becoming stronger!" He looked to Gabriel and said, "You're up!"

Gabriel nodded, his turtwig leaped into the battle field only to be called back. Turtwig returned, a bit confused, and Gabriel sent out Saix. The abra appeared to be snoozing but was actually awake and ready to battle.

"Woohoo!" grinned Amelia, doing a little twirl with the badge in hand. She then moved away from the battlefield with her newly evolved Prinplup to sit on the sidelines. She let Electra and Zephyr out of their pokeballs to watch, everyone congratulating each other on their evolution and Zephyr feeling a little jealous.

"Go, Rhyhorn!" called Roark, throwing the Pokeball out onto the field. The Rhyhorn used Tail Whip, lowering the Abra's defense straight off the bat. He then used Horn Attack, charging towards the Abra.

The abra was quickly returned by Gabriel and replaced by Turtwig. Gabriel had heard of this technique that helps both of these pokemon get stronger from a television show. Turtwig used withdraw and was then hit by the horn attack. It took little damage and then used absorb on the rhyhorn, trying to get hp back.

Roark's Rhyhorn attempted to dodge away from the Absorb, but was unsuccessful. Instead he then used Magnitude, the ground shaking and damaging the Turtwig, who could do little to avoid it due to being a land pokemon.

((How does shaking the ground hurt a pokemon? xD))

The ground shook and turtwig was damaged, thank to resistance he was able to avoid being burt too badly. He used absorb once more, trying to restore his health once more. Gabriel smiled as the rhyhorn struggled against his turtwig, there's no way the rhyhorn could win!

(I don't know but the description of the move only describes the ground shaking so I was just like lolwtf here goes nothin. xD)

The Rhyhorn was pitifully weak against the grass type attack and was knocked out. Roark recalled him and sent out his next Pokemon; A Shuckle. It began by using Withdraw, before using Struggle Bug. The Shuckle sent out damaging bug-type soundwaves by shaking his booty body.

The turtwig was withdrawn as soon as the shuckle was sent out and replaced with Saix. Saix teleported away from the attack and used Fire Punch on the Shuckle. Gabriel wanted to see how the abra would do on his own against such a pokemon. Saix's fist was set aflame as he used his usual tactic of teleporting behind the pokemon and then attacking.

The Shuckle Withdrew into his shell, protecting himself from the brunt of the attack. Still inside his shell, he used Struggle Bug again, the soundwaves echoing through the battlefield, shattering some of the nearby boulders.

The abra was hit, dealing massive damage. Saix was then returned and replaced with turtwig, Gabriel kicked himself mentally. He had nothing effective against the Shuckle, and the shuckle had moves that were super effective against his pokemon. The turtwig used absorb followed by a tackle. Gabriel cursed at himself in his thoughts for being so stupid, he hadn't counted on the Shuckle knowing bug type moves.

The Shuckle shook it's head as it's health was drained but used Bide. The Tackle attack hit, dealing damage to the bug/rock type, however the Shuckle also charged that amount of power into his attack, which would be launched in a few short turns.

The turtwig saw that the Shuckle was storing power and withdrew into his shell on Garbiel's command. The turtwig remained in it's shell, continuing to use withdraw and raising it's defense. It waited for the shuckle to attack so he could launch a seed bomb at it.

The Shuckle did so, unleashing the energy from the Turtwig's own Tackle move. However, Roark soon commanded it to use Bide again, preparing for whatever attack Turtwig might use next.

Gabriel decided not to play Roark's game and continued to order his turtwig to retreat into it's shell. When the Shuckle's bide failed because he never attacked, he quickly ordered his turtwig to use seed bomb. A large seed was launched at Shuckle as it tried to explode in it's face. If Roark tried to use bide again Gabriel would just switch back to withdraw.
