The Jewels of Sinnoh

A boy of the age 14 approached the lab, he fixed his one strap backpack so that it didn't feel awkward. He was going to get his first pokemon from the professor. His jet black hair was a bit wild and short, his blue eyes seemed to pierce through anything like a hawk. He had been waiting years for this, he wondered if he would make any friends, he wasn't a very social type you see. His mother had kept him sheltered from others, "Too delicate and sickly" he was in his mother's opinion. His father had finally convinced her to let her child go, after all he had no health issues whatsoever. He wondered if he could even become champion of sinnoh, 'no.' he thought to himself, 'I'm probably just setting myself up for a huge fall.' he thought. He sighed and knocked on the door, his red t-shirt swished a bit and his black baggy pants ruffled as he walked backwards, making way for the door if it opened.

Amelia grinned at the sight of the Starly, "Looks like this is our chance!"
She wasn't all too bothered with common Pokemon. As long as they were her friends, she could always trust them to do their best.
"Icy Wind!" called Amelia, knowing that the Ice type move should be quite effective against a Flying type Pokemon.

Bubbles nodded, hopping off of Amelia's shoulder. It growled in return to the Starly's growl, before it's beak parted once more, letting out a swift and cold blast of air.

The Bidoof meanwhile, used Quick Attack, speeding towards the Turtwig.

The turtwig was hit by the quick attack. Turtwig withdrew into it's shell with a withdraw, Gabriel ordered him to use Seed Bomb again. The Turtwig poked it's head out and opened it's mouth and shot another seed at the bidoof.

The starly almost dodged it, it's tail feathers froze and weighed it down. The starly charged toward the piplup with astonish, hoping to make it flinch and have a flinch-fest until it was defeated.

Gabriel was sightly panicked but kept his cool, this was hi first pokemon battle. He wasn't about to lose it, especially against a bidoof. He watched the seed sail towards the bidoof with amazing speed, watching the pokemon carefully.

The piplup flinched at the sudden attack and was hit by the move. This Starly was fast! "Bubbles, use Pound!"
Bubbled quickly pulled himself to his feet, his right flipper glowing pale white as he leaped into the air in an attempt to hit the Starly with Pound.

Meanwhile, the Bidoof used Quick Attack again to dodge the Seed Bomb, before attempting to Tackle the Turtwig.

The turtwig was hit with the quick attack once more, not taking much damage because of the withdraws. "Tackle!"called Gabriel, the turtwig charged the Bidoof in hopes of Tackling it. The turtwig ran as fast as it could towards the bidoof and was closing quickly.

The starly escaped the dangers of the pound. It's frozen tail feathers didn't allow it to move very far from the piplup though. It flapped it's wings as hard as it could in a attempt to get away from the piplup.

"Icy wind again!" called Amelia, knowing that if it hit, it would do massive damage.
The Piplup didn't wait to unleash another blast of icy air towards the bird Pokemon as it attempted to keep it's distance from Bubbles.

The Bidoof, being already quite close to the Turtwig, was hit directly by the Tackle, being flung a few paces away where it landed on it's stomach and struggled to get back up onto it's feet.

Gabriel didn't even think about getting his one of his pokeballs, he ordered, "Tackle!" the turtwig acknowledged with a nod and charged toward the bidoof once more. The turtwig cried out in triumph as he closed in on what he believed was the final attack.

The starly screeched as it was hit by the icy wind. It collapsed on the ground, frozen and vulnerable for capture.

Amelia grabbed a Pokeball from her bag and immediately tossed it towards the Starly. The black and white bird was drawn into the ball and it shook, one, two, three times before finally clicking shut. Grinning, she ran over to Bubbles, picking him up and spinning him around as Gabriel defeated the Bidoof he was battling.

"Nice win," she smiled at him, before bending down to pick up the pokeball containing her newest Pokemon.

"Nice catch." Gabriel commented, he looked at his turtwig who and resumed his staring. Gabriel blinked and decided to ignore the turtwig's actions. He turned to Amelia, "I heard there were shinx around here, wanna stick around until you find one?" he asked. He wanted to stay and train for a bit more, he would need all of the leveling he could get to take on the gym leader.

"Wait Shinx?"
Amelia paused, standing there for a moment to imagine herself with her mini team of Pokemon. She seemed to almost have a mini 'fangirl moment' before she nodded.
"Yes please!" she grinned, "Then I can heal everyone up at the Pokemon Centre in the next town and we can actually do some training!"

Gabriel nodded and half smiled a bit, his smile quickly faded as another starly appeared, "Do you want to fight it?" he asked. He didn't want to be rude and take a battle from her.

The starly growled, it looked stronger than the other starly. It seemed to just want a bit of fun though. It knew the way to the den of a shinx, and it wanted to see if they were worthy of catching shinx, who needed a good trainer after being abandoned.

"Sure! Bubbles hasn't actually defeated anything yet so it would be a great way to get some more battle experience."
Amelia looked to the Piplup who had returned to his previous place on Amy's shoulder, only to quickly hop back down again.
"You ready?" his trainer asked, Bubbled nodding in return. As a proud Pokemon, he wanted to prove to his trainer that he could handle anything.

"Alrighty then. We'll start as we did before! Icy Wind!"

Bubbles took a deep breath before his beak parted and he let out another gust of icy cold wind, freezing the air as it headed towards the Starly.

The starly dodged it with ease as it flew around. It landed on the ground and scratched sand at the piplup, trying to lower it's accuracy. It then growled at the piplup, this starly knew how to annoy a trainer.

Gabriel watched the battle from the sidelines. He sighed and looked to the sky, confident that Amelia would win with ease despite the lowered stats.

"Pip, piplup," blinked Bubbled, trying to get the sand out of his eyes.
"I's alright Bubbles. Use Growl. That doesn't need accuracy to hit since Starly has ears," instructed Amelia, trying to keep her Pokemon calm.

Bubbles did as instructed, letting out a Growl in retaliation to the Starly's own Growl move.

The starly was intimidated by the growl and it's attack fell. The starly flung itself at the piplup with a normal tackle attack. It screeched in fury as it charged toward Bubbles.

Turtwig cheered piplup on from the sidelines, Gabriel was lost in thought.

"Icy wind, stop it in it's tracks!" called Amelia. Bubbles quickly turned to the sound of the screech, opening his mouth to loose another large blast of cold air towards the Starly. Amelia hoped that it would either stop the Starly's attack or deter it long enough for Bubbles to clear his eyes as well as doing some damage to the bird Pokemon.
