Lightning flashed and thunder roared. The rain pelted down and the vicious waves refused to calm.
"No! Don't let go!" a voice called, "Just a little longer... Come on! Hang on!"
"I can't... hold on...! Waaaah!"


The now calm waves drifted gently up to the shore. As they receded, they took sand with them, only to bring it back the next time it lapped at the shore's edge. The sun shone down, providing a subtle warmth to all on the ground below. Red eyes blinked open as someone stirred.
"Urghh.... Where am I?" she said blinking. She tried to hold onto her consciousness, but to no avail. She drifted off once more into the dark abyss.

Hadyn smiled and nodded his head, walking along with Eira. He was surprised that she was so eager to help, even taking the lead as they went.
"Yeah, we don't want to lose them." He commented back to her, as they ended up heading towards some kind of cave near the beach.
"I guess that may be where they went." He suggested, feeling a little bit anxious about going after the two who had taken his stone fragment.

"I guess we go onwards then..." blinked Eira, glancing around to double check. There didn't seem to be any other way past this area, so into the cave it was.

The interior of the cave was remarkably light. It seemed that many gaps in the rocks let in sunlight from the outside. The ebb and flow of the tide could still be heard from inside. The sand from the beach slowly became hard rock that Eira could feel under her paws. She acknowledged the change but didn't mention it, after all they were heading into a rocky cave.
As they wandered slightly deeper into the dungeon the light remained, but small pools of water could be seen between the rocky walls. Frowning, Eira could see that as the cave narrowed up ahead, it got darker.

Following Eira in, Hadyn looked around the area, checking for anything or anyone nearby. He felt a bit of comfort with some of the sunlight coming in, but still didn't like the place. It had too much water nearby, and was known for some pokemon that knew various water-type moves.
"I guess they must be somewhere deeper in here. But why go so deep into a place like this?" He commented, thinking out loud. As they reached the darker areas, Hadyn walked ahead. The fire on his tail seemed to give the duo at least some form of light, though it wasn't bright enough to light the whole area.

Eira shrugged at Hadyn's question.
"Perhaps they don't know the area as well as we assumed. They might have just taken off in a random direction and ended up here, not realising that it was a cave until there was no way to turn back..." she suggested, running through ideas out loud.

"That fiery tail of yours is certainly useful in the dark," she smiled as they wandered through the darker tunnel. Eira kept walking, not particularly wanting to waste any time.
The duo came out into a larger area. It didn't seem like the end of the cave, but it was definitely bigger than the narrow passageway they had just been walking through.

"What's that?" asked Eira, noticing something glittering about halfway across the open area. In the light of Hadyn's flames the Sneasel could spot something scattered across the ground.

"Well, I guess that's possible. Maybe they weren't as confident as we thought they were about running off. They should be deeper in the cave, if we keep going." Hadyn replied, and chuckled at Eira's comment about his tail.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that. Unless you're trying to hide or go unnoticed, then it's a real pain to have." He said, and quickened his pace, noticing that Eira seemed to not have any plans on stopping. Walking out into the larger room, Hadyn looked around, paranoid about the sudden open space. He brought his attention to what Eira seemed to be pointing out on the ground, and unable to tell what it was started to walk closer to it. As he did, from another direction he felt something slap him across the face, knocking him back a couple steps. Upon looking at it, he saw that it was a Shellos, and certainly didn't seem civilised.
"Hey, I think you may want to explore your options for fighting a bit here." He said to his companion, getting back up and getting ready for a battle.

Eira had began to move towards it, following Hadyn's lead when he was knocked backwards by some form of attack. Blinking, she disregarded the shiny things for now and turned to the attacking Pokemon.

"I guess so..." she blinked before pausing for a moment. As she didn't particularly have much experience in this type of situation, she attempted to talk with the Shellos.

"Uhm.. we don't want any trouble-" she began before another Mud-Slap was fired, this time at her. Ducking down, she dodged it, muttering, "Looks like that won't work," before standing back up and leaping at the Shellos. As she did so, her already white claws began to glow with an even whiter light. The surprise at the sudden glow caused her to miss her attack.

"Oh, right. I guess I should have told you. That's a feral pokemon, it won't respond to anything you say to it. As a matter of fact, it doesn't talk." Hadyn explained, and rushed forward with a scratch attack of his own, his claws becoming more noticeable and glowing white. He managed to get a hit on the shellos, and jumped back.
"Oh yeah, that will happen when you use an attack like scratch." He added, and took a step to his left, getting out of the way of another mud slap attack.
"Why don't you try attacking again, now that you know what to expect?" He suggested to Eira, seeing that it was turning out to be a pretty decent learning experience for her on how to use moves.

"Okay," she chuckled, actually quite embarrassed that the mere glowing of her claws had caused her to miss an attack that could have been crucial had circumstances been slightly different.

Now prepared for what would happen, she leaped at the Shellos once more. Her claws glowed stark white in colour and she landed a swift hit on the Shellos. The blue skinned Shellos then proceeded to use Mud Sport. Eira narrowly got away before the thick mud landed on her and obscured both her movement and vision.

Hadyn grinned as Eira seemed to become used to her claws glowing rather quickly, and smirked as her attack made contact.
"Hey, great job! Now, maybe-" He started to say, but hadn't been paying attention to the Shellos. He saw Eira jump back, and realized that the other pokemon had just used Mud Sport. Stumbling back a bit less gracefully then he would have wanted, Hadyn recovered and rushed forward again, his claws glowing as he made contact with the Shellos.

This third hit proved too much for the Shellos, who promptly collapsed in a heap in the darkness, The area in which it fell was not lit and so Eira couldn't check, but assumed that it had fainted.

Turning her attention to Hadyn, she smiled.
"Looks like we did it anyhow. For a first battle I guess that wasn't too bad," she chuckled. It wasn't as hard as she had thought to use moves. She wondered if there was a way to check whether or not she knew any more moves. For now though she shrugged it off, instead moving to inspect the shiny objects that were scattered across the ground.

Hadyn grinned, also figuring that the wild pokemon had fainted. After all, it wasn't attacking them anymore so it must have either run away or fainted, which either way was good for them.
"Yeah, it could have gone worse. Especially since you're new to all of this." He commented back to Eira, and follwoed her towards the shining objects on the ground.
"Oh, that's nice! It's some poké." He said, leaning down to pick it up and drop it in his satchel. "Oh, right. Poké is the currency around here. You know, used to buy stuff?" Hadyn explained to Eira.

Eira looked at the shiny gold things that were scattered across the ground. Each of them had a small letter 'P' inscribed into it.

"Oh, that's nice! It's some poké," Hadyn had said.
Eira turned to him with a questioning look, "Poké?"

"Oh... That makes sense I guess," she chuckled, helping the Charmander to gather the scattered coins. At a rough guess, Eira would have said there were roughly 35 to 40 coins altogether.
"Is this a lot in poké standards or is it more like loose change?" she asked.

"Well, I guess it all depends on who you are or what your situation in life is." Hadyn remarked back, chuckling slightly. "For the both of us, I'd say it's not too much, but it's still better then nothing and definitely not just spare change." He continued to say, and looked around the room once again. In the commotion with the Shellos and finding the poke, he had almost forgotten the reason they were in the cave.
"We should probably get moving again, so we don't lose those two. I'd rather not lose that stone..." He said, trailing off at the end as he looked around the larger sized room.
"I'm guessing that we came from the area closest to us, so that's the only way forward." Hadyn deduced, looking ahead and seeming ready to move on.

Eira nodded, "Okay then. Onwards."
She smiled before meandering across the wider area and into the tunnel. As they continued, Eira frowned to herself.
"I hope we didn't give them too much time to get ahead whilst we were battling that Shellos..." she sighed.

It just so happened that right then, a Corsola blocked their path through the tunnel. Just for a moment, Eira contemplated trying to talk to it again. But she then remembered what Hadyn had said about these Pokemon being feral and instead prepared to once again attack it.
Eira's claws glowed a bright white and she leaped at the coral-like Pokemon, intending to wreak havoc on it for blocking their path. As she did so, a Shellder appeared on Hadyn's side, blocking the route backwards as well.

"I doubt they got too much time, but let's try not to lose any more-" Hadyn had started to say in agreement with Eira, but noticed her suddenly jump forward at a Corsola blocking their path. Wow, she's already gotten used to this. He thought to himself, smirking. As he prepared to help her out in attacking, he heard something move behind him. Turning around, he saw the Shellder on his side, blocking him and Eira in.
"Alright, I'll take care of this side, you focus on the Corsola." He suggested, before rushing towards the Shellder with his claws out and shining, landing the hit. Before he could jump back, the Shellder used tackle and rammed into him, knocking Hadyn back a couple steps.
