Shocking Freezer Burn

It was a beautifully sunny day as Manfred Colburn was walking along the street of his hometown. Not that he would care about the weather, though.
The only thing that was on his mind were the parts he had to get to finish his newest invention - a self-turning frying pan.
And he knew just where to get them.
As he continued on his path, he wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings, his mind focussing inwards on intricate mechanisms and new possibilities.
While that certainly heightened the danger of bumping into other people, noone had been too mad before and if things would get serious, he could just use his powers and then blame it on the taser he was keeping in a pocket of his jacket.
Little would he know about the adventure of his life, that was about to start, a tale of happiness and sadness, rage and calmness, hate and forgiveness.

The story of fire, lightning and ice...

Annoyed by the others' immaturity, Manfred tried to think of ways to prevent the group from being discovered. Maybe he could create a static field somehow, stopping cameras from finding them. But such a phenomenon in only a small area would be too noticeable, so he had to find a way to extend it over the entire city at least. He had now reached the point of actually considering to hand the rest of the group over to the police. But since he had to flee, he decided to simply wait for the subway for now.

Allegra watched the clock intently, stepping back a few paces after a minute or so. She stood in silence as the subway train drove past the station at high speeds, not stopping as it wasn't scheduled to do so.
After the train passed, Allegra glanced both ways, just double checking. The next train here wasn't due for another forty minutes, so they should be fine.
"Alright," she blinked, standing on the edge of the station platform. Sitting down, she edged her way onto the subway tracks, dropping down the last few inches or so.
"I promise you it's safe guys. Next train won't be here for ages yet," she grinned, remaining where she was stood on the tracks. She was the shortest of the four so it was likely they wouldn't need any help to get down.

Lily jumped down enthusiastically directly after Allegra, instantly regretting it as pain went through her legs, "I'm fine!" she squeaked. She looked to see Catherine slowly making her way down, taking her time so she wouldn't get hurt. She rolled her eyes and grabbed her friend's arm and yanked her in, "Isn't there some kind of third rail that if you touch you die down here?" Lily asked.
Catherine didn't appreciate being pulled in, but dealt with it anyways. Being on the subway tracks made her feel a bit nervous, what if the schedule had changed and wasn't updated? What if someone was robbing the subway and preventing it from stopping at the stops and made it come over and crush them? Images of their deaths flashed through her mind and made her shiver.

After jumping down as well, disregarding the blatantly obvious risks, Manfred decided to get a little bit of revenge for the torture he had to go through.
"Yes, there are several in fact. As far as I can sense them, there should be one here, here and here. Those are high voltage rails to power the subway."
Although he didn't show it on the outside, on the inside Manfred giggled a bit as he pointed out completely normal spots on the tracks for the group.

Allegra stifled a few chuckles at Manfred's revenge as she lead them down the subway tracks. They walked for a short while, maybe five minutes or so down the tracks, when Allegra finally stopped. She paused for a moment before stepping up onto a small ledge, where she then identified a door, hidden in the texture of the tunnel's surface with no visible handle. Pushing the door, it swung open to reveal a rather large room. There wasn't much in the room and it was rather dark. There was however, a large pile of blankets, pillows and other such things in one corner, along with a few folded up deck chairs leaning up against one wall and a couple wrappers and bags from various food items. There were a few rugs on the floor, likely there to provide something a bit more comfortable to sleep on than the cold floor.

Glancing around the room one would notice that there were other doors perhaps leading to other areas, however Allegra made no mention of them. A few old pieces of metal and wood, along with a few random wooden crates were in one of the corners furthest away from the door. One small wooden crate was positioned near to the door and had various little trinkets and shiny things displayed upon it. Most just simple things like lost keys and pretty feathers, however there was also a bowl with a small crack in it, which contained various notes and coins.

"So... welcome to my humble abode I guess!" grinned Allegra, pushing the door closed behind them.

"Humble abode? Looks more like a d-OW!" Lily was speaking before she felt a burning sensation on her arm. She looked to see Catherine giving her a fierce glare that scared her a bit, a flame danced around Catherine's arm before going out again. Lily turned away with an agitated huff as her friend suddenly became timid again as the flame went out.
Catherine looked around, "Looks really nice.."she said, honestly. She lived with Lilly, since her parents had disappeared one day. The news had considered them dead even though they never found bodies. Catherine knew exactly where they were though. She never told anyone about it. She snapped her attention back to the present when Lily was about to insult Allegra's home. She acted fast and stopped her friend in a more painful way then she would have preferred.

Manfred chuckled, happy to see Catherine stand up for herself for once and for her friend to have shut up for once.

"An interesting abode it is you have there. I do think some improvements could be made, though...for example..."

Manfred walked over to the distribution box on the wall, used a swift punch to open it and began to work on the switches and cables, sparks flying sometimes. After a few minutes, some more sparks flew across the room as the lights went on.

"Done. Now, does any of you have something to keep those wires in place?"

Allegra blinked, making an awkward half smile toward Catherine. It wasn't the best situation to be in, but considering she could have ended up sleeping in bus shelters Allegra thought she had a better deal than most runaways and homeless people.

She turned to Manfred when he spoke of improvements watching him work before looking around in wonder as the lights came on.
"Awesome!" she grinned. With the large room now lit up, it was clear that it was rather dusty and the floors could certainly do with cleaning. Allegra looked to Catherine as Manfred asked about something to keep the wires in place.

Lily gained an idea when the question arrived about the wires, she dragged Catherine over the the wires saying, "Cat could weld it!" She left her friend by the box as Catherine carefully burned the wires into place. "See?" Lily said proudly as Catherine finished.
Catherine finished burning the wires together and the flame that had been on the tip of her finger was put out. The adrenaline rush hadn't come as big as it used to be that time. She had never noticed the rush and change of personality that had happened to herself anyways.

"Surprising...the first thing she said, that was actually usefull...", Manfred mumbled to himself.
"So, what do we do now...does anypony have any ideas? I don't see any material to construct something out of around here..."
Only a few minutes had passed and Manfred was already bored. Sitting down on the ground, he used his powers to create tiny arcs of lightning, creating patterns in the dust.

"Dude it's dark out; I suggest we all sleep until morning. Then we can plan whatever we're gonna do, maybe even go grab some food from somewhere because all I have here is some bread and cheese," replied Allegra.
"I know you guys probably aren't used to sleeping on floors so if you wanna use those deck chairs or something be my guest. I have a ton of blankets so you won't be cold, I can promise that much," she smiled, moving over to the corner and dishing out blankets and pillows to everyone. Usually she'd like to lie in a large comfy pile, but for tonight she'd deal with only a few blankets and a pillow.

Lily looked at Allegra as if she were insane, "Sleep? In Here? AS IF. I'd rather-" she had opened the door to see a subway rattling past the door in front of her nose. Catherine quickly pulled her friend back and away from the door, both falling to the ground as Catherine kicked the door shut. Lily laughed, giddy with fear, "You know maybe sleeping here isn't bad after all ahahahah...." she curled into a corner, eyes wide with fear. Catherine stared at her friend, wondering if she were alright.

And the tiny amount of hope Manfred had regained in humanity quickly faded away again as Lily almost got run over by a subway.
"Well...I guess this will have to do."
Manfred placed a few coins he had been carrying around on the ground, put the rest into several pockets of his, lied down on the coins and...began to float.
As he had charged the coins with electricity, the resulting electromagnetism was strong enough to keep him floating in the air.
"Oh and by the way, I wouldn't suggest touching those coins if you value your nervous system. Good night, everyone!"

"Night, Manfred!" grinned Allegra, walking over to the box that had various objects scattered over the top of it. She grabbed the money out of her own pocket and dropped it in the bowl, since it wasn't exactly the most comfortable to sleep on. Not sure whether she should trust these newcomers into her home, she also froze a thick layer of ice to surround the bowl of money, tucking it into the box and surrounding it with the cool packs she used to keep cheese and the like a bit fresher.

Allegra then wandered over to the corner with the rugs in, flicking the light switch as she went. Putting a blanket on the rug floor and draping her coat over herself, Allegra attempted to get herself comfortable. She covered herself with another blanket and lay her head on a pillow, curling up with her back to the corner so that she was facing the rest of the room.
"Night peeps," yawned Allegra as she finally got herself comfortable enough to attempt sleep. Her platinum blonde hair gave away her position, even in the darkness that now resided over the room.

Catherine gave up on trying to comfort her absolutely terrified friend, and decided to sleep herself seeing as Lily was also falling asleep in her corner. Catherine kept to the far end of the room and bent her legs, wrapping her arms around them and resting her forehead on her arms. What are Lily's parents going to think of her suddenly disappearing like this? Sure it happens sometimes but... she was pained at the thought of her parents. She knew exactly how they died and when they had died, and she didn't like talking or thinking about it, the memories still haunted her and would continue to haunt her in her dreams as she plunged into a nightmarish slumber.
