A Shocking Treasure!

Kyraen bounced happily along the path that led into the Pecha Forest. He was so excited! Today he was going on a treasure hunt!!! He had been begging and begging his family to let him go on adventures on his own, but his parents and siblings had been really hesitant to give him permission. But he had kept on begging, and eventually his dad gave him a map and told him that if he could find the treasure located in Pecha Forest, that he could go out on his own!

Kyraen was determined to find this treasure! His dad hadn't told him what the treasure was, nor did the map give any clues. He was so curious, he thought he would burst from curiosity!!! He pulled said map from his bag. He set it on the ground and rolled it out with his paws.

It was a crude map of the forest, with a list of cryptic directions beside the map. The first set of directions read: "To start on your journey to find the treasure of Pecha Forest, one must first find the entrance to the Walkway of Silence. Tread carefully, lest ye disturb the Defenders of Quiet."

Kyraen sat back on his haunches, contemplating the cryptic words. He didn't really understand what the 'Walkway of Silence' was. But it sounded like if he wasn't quiet enough, something -or someone- would attack him!

Boris was really tired. He had barely evaded a feral pokemon, and hadn't seen anybody for AGES. What if he had gotten lost? That would be really scary, actually. He shuddered, and pushed the thought away, skittering along, towards Pecha Forest. He really needed a pick-me-up, and maybe he'd find someone cool to talk to, spar with, ooo! Maybe even go exploring! He increased his pace, and hurried towards his destination, filled with a newfound vigor.

On his way there, he saw a small, 4 legged Pokemon with a really poofy tail! Oh, that must be an Evee! Boris had been too busy imagining a new friend, and he forgot how tired he was! With a big leap, he sprung upwards, silently landing in the Evee's fur. Wow, it was SO SOFT! He gave a smile of contentment, and nestled into the soft fur. Boris should probably say something, but he just needed a minute or two to drain some static electricity.

Kyraen hummed thoughtfully as he stared at the map. It looked like the 'Walkway of Silence' was on the south-eastern side of the forest. He looked up at the sky, trying to gauge where the sun was in the sky. Luckily, it was still on the early side of the morning, and he could clearly tell where the sun was rising from. He was on the east side of the forest, so he would have to walk towards the south until he could find the entrance to this 'Walkway of Silence.'

He was rolling up the map to put it back in his bag when he felt something jump onto his neck fur. Well, he didn't feel it jump on him, but he felt it when it started burrowing into his fur. He pawed at his neckline, yelping in surprise. He hoped it wasn't a tick; those pesky insects were so difficult to get off of his skin once they bit down!

"Gerroff!" he shouted, even though he knew that if it was a tick, it wouldn't understand him.

Boris had just gotten comfortable when the he was swatted at. "Ow! Hey! Stop it!", he exclaimed indignantly. He managed to cling on for a bit, but eventually got knocked off. He landed in front of the Evee, slightly dazed. "Ugh.." He slowly got up to his feet and stared up at the bigger Pokemon.

"Sorry, should have asked first...", He mumbled apologetically, and scuffled his feet. Nothing seemed to be damaged, though, but he had probably left a bad impression. He glanced at the map that the Evee was looking at before Boris had interrupted. The little bug's curiosity was peaked. He kept his mouth shut for now, because he wasn't exactly in the good graces of the Evee.

Kyraen jumped when a little voice shouted at him. He looked down to see a tiny yellow pokemon. "O-oh! I'm sorry," Kyraen said, as the tiny joltik stumbled over his own apology. Kyraen brought up a paw and rubbed at the back of his neck. "H-heh... I didn't know you were a pokemon... thought you were a tick," Kyraen explained. "Sorry about that. A-anyway... My name is Kyraen! What's your name?" He asked, his expression brightening. He always liked meeting new friends!!!

"Hey, don't apologize! I probably should have asked first before dropping on you.", Boris said, glad that they weren't angry at him. "Oh! I'm Boris! Nice to meetcha!", Boris raised one of his front legs and waved. Now. To business! "I couldn't help but notice you were looking at that map!", he said, gesturing at it with a leg. "Could you tell me about it? Pretty please? It was just SO interesting and I HAD to know more!", Boris said, very relieved and happy that he hadn't angered a potential friend.

Kyraen brightened even more when it seemed that his new friend wasn't upset with him at all! "Hi Boris, it's nice to meet you!" Kyraen said with a bounce. He looked down at the map as his new friend indicated it with a tiny leg.

"Oooooh, my map! Thanks for reminding me! It's a very special map. My Dad gave it to me; he told me that if I could find the special treasure that the map will lead me to, I can go do adventures by myself!!! My parents and brother and sister are all really protective of me... they won't let me do anything fun by myself," he pouted for a moment before smiling again. "So I'm on a quest to find the special treasure!!! Hey, do you wanna come with me? I, uh... was actually supposed to wait until my brother could come with me, but he was taking so long to wake up, I just went on my own! Maybe if you come with me, my parents and siblings won't be as mad when I come back from my treasure hunt!"

Kyraen bounced happily back and forth for a moment, looking down at his new friend excitedly, hoping that Boris would want to come along.

Boris listened intently. His eyes widened and he cracked a big smile. If there was anything Boris loved more than meeting new Pokemon, it was treasure hunting. "Treasure hunting? I would love to! Don't worry friend, we're gonna find that special treasure!", Boris exclaimed. He couldn't help but get hyped. His friend's excitement was just too infectious! Before he knew it, he was bouncing up and down too, eager to go! Oh. That reminded Boris of something. "Do you mind if I ride on your back? You see, my legs are very tiny, and I get tired easily. So, could I?", Boris said, smiling.

What could this 'special treasure' be? That really peaked his curiosity. He couldn't wait to find out what it was!

Kyraen beamed as his new friend agreed to go with him. "Oh, that's great! We'll have so much fun!" he shouted happily. He looked down at his tiny friend and cocked his head to the side as Boris asked if he could ride on Kyraen.

"Well sure, anything for a friend!" he agreed easily. "As long as there's no biting or blood-sucking going on," he added with a chuckle.

Kyraen waited for his friend to jump onto him before trotting along the eastern side of the forest dungeon. "I'm looking for a place called the 'Walkway of Silence.' It's apparently where I need to start to find the special treasure," he said as he walked. "The spot marked on the map indicated that it's in the south-east portion of the forest; we're currently more east than south, so that's where we're headed now."

"Don't worry! I don't bite! I don't bite friends, at least.", Boris said to Kyraen, before bounding upwards, landing into the Evee's fur. He could feel the static flowing from the fur into his body. It was rejuvenating! He crawled over to Kyraen's shoulder, se he could see where he was going, and talk to his new friend. "Walkway of Silence? Sounds spooky!", he said, with a laugh. "Okie dokie! I'll keep a lookout for mean, feral Pokemon!", He said, while glancing over to a bush that had caught his attention. He narrowed his four eyes at the bush, watching for any sign of movement. A twitch, a rustle, anything.

Kyraen hummed happily as he walked. It was a sweet little tune his parents had taught him; it was a fairly popular kids' song. "What a great big world, a sight to behold, what a perfect place to be~ What a great big world, a sight to behold, and it's filled with mystery~ All my friends are gathered around, and it's such a sight to see~ And we work and play and we get through the day like a great big family~" He sung cheerfully, bouncing his head to the song.

He kept an eye out for any openings in the thickly-grown forest as he walked and sung. This 'Walkway of Silence' seemed sinister, but he knew his Dad wouldn't put him in any situation that was too dangerous for him to handle.

Boris was taken away from his 'vigilant' staring at the bush. When nothing came up, curled up, feeling the static flow from the fur into his body. The Evee then started to bounce, and hummed a song that was...surprisingly catchy! He moved to the Kyraen's shoulder, and after waiting for a bit, got the hang of the song, and started to hum along. He glanced up at Kyraen's head, and smiled. Once again, his new friend's enthusiasm was infectious! He couldn't help but move to the beat. As the walk went one, Boris's body started to snap and pop with static electricity. He didn't want to accidentally shock his friend, so he tried to quell it. By the time he was able to stop exuding static electricity, his friend's fur was poofy and stood up straight. Boris started to laugh softly as he looked at his friend's current predicament.

Kyraen's ears twitched as he felt the static running through his fur. He turned his head to look at the tiny joltik on his shoulder. As he did so, he caught a glimpse of his neck fur standing straight up from the static. He gave a little laugh; he probably looked kinda funny. "Heh, you're causing my fur to stand on end, Boris!" he said cheerfully.

He chuckled before returning his attention to the forest. There was an opening into the forest a few feet away. The opening was circular, and was ringed by bushes, with intertwining vines criss-crossed over the bush branches.

"Hmm. Maybe this is the 'Walkway of Silence' my map is referring to," Kyraen said. "What do you think, Boris?"

Boris stared at the overgrown opening. Heh, that must be it! "Yeah. That's it!", Boris said, looking up at Kyraen. Boris started to feel REALLY antsy. Probably because he hadn't walked in a while. Also, because he was full on electricity. "Let's go!", he exclaimed, hopping down from Kyraen's shoulder, while moving towards the entrance. He glanced back at Kyraen to follow him. "Lead the way!" Even though the first stretch of their adventure was relatively uneventful, that didn't mean that the rest of it would be! Boris was ready for a challenge! Fully rested and rejuvenated, he felt like he could take on anything!

Kyraen smiled at his friend's boundless energy. It was refreshing to meet someone who was just as excited as he was about things! Usually pokemon were grumpy and slow, but his new friend was just like him!

He crouched down and crawled through the small opening, wriggling through the branches as they poked and pulled at his thick fur. He managed to get through to the other side, but he realized as he got through the opening that the 'Walkway' wasn't much taller than the entrance itself. He still had to crouch to walk, and he wasn't that big of a pokemon to begin with.

"It's a little short," he called back to his friend, before realizing that it wouldn't matter to the tiny joltik. The vegetation around him gave a shudder as he spoke, and he froze, his eyes wide. He had forgotten the warning the map had given him!
