The Hunt is On!

So this was the Fallen Leaf Copse....the thing Sova had failed to find first. It was certainly beautiful enough to be a treasure, but the real treasure was within....somewhere. Perhaps it wasn't too late for him to be the one to find the treasure. Of course, having someone as enthusiastic about treasure as Mirage with him was sure to help as well.

"This looks like a nice place to live...." He said.

Sova was also pondering what to do about this situation, but for different reasons. If they kept the teddiursa around, what if its parents came along and got all protective? They sounded pretty strong, he really didn't want to put Mirage in that kind of danger.... "You say that like we're getting a pet...." He whispered back. "Maybe."

First, he had to decide if it was safe to keep around. "Would your parents be mad about you hanging around with us? We wouldn't want any trouble with them. We wouldn't want to get you in trouble either." He said to the teddiursa. Though it probably wasn't completely true, Mirage probably didn't care much whether the teddiursa got in any trouble or not.

"No because you're my friends? My mama and papa are always happy when I have friends!" the bear replied happily, "Let's go exploring or play a game or something!"

Mirage looked to the glaceon and whispered, "Well from the way he acts it sounds like he's going to follow us around for a while whether or not we like it."

She did not quite feel like "playing" seeing as how she was on three legs and having difficulty just walking. If she had to pretend to play tag or hide and go seek she was just going to curl up and take a nap rather than actually playing.

"Alright then, I don't see any problems as long as you're sure your parents would be okay with it."  Sova said with a shrug.  Just as he began walking again, he noticed an oddly shiny leaf.  Normally he wouldn't collect leaves but this....looked really pretty.  Maybe he could use it to decorate something.  He picked the leaf up in his mouth and dropped it in his bag, saving it for later.  Because why else would he pick up a random leaf?

Now hoping to make the best of this situation, the glaceon approached the bear and leaned in close to whisper.  "Do you know any good ways to make someone laugh?  I'm hoping to put a smile on Foxy's face, she hasn't had a very nice day today."

"Huh? Oh...hmm..." the bear listened in while the Glaceon spoke to him, hearing out the ice type's request. It thought for a moment, before hitting one paw with the other in a fist in the motion of getting an idea, "You've seen those weird leaves around here, right? What if we collected some of those and made silly faces from them! That'd be really funny!" the teddiursa giggled.

Mirage raised an eyebrow as the Glaceon moved away from her to whisper something to Freddy. She watched the two, and wondered just what the two were doing as the Teddiursa seemed to have been excited about something. What in Arceus's name were those two doing?

Sova thought about the idea. "I don't think that'd work, she's....not in to normal comedy as far as I know. But maybe we could do something with the leaves...." He stopped to contemplate for a moment. What could possibly make Mirage laugh? Maybe it didn't have to be from finding something funny....maybe he could make her laugh from joy instead. "What if we collected a bunch of the leaves and made them rain down on her? I could distract her while you climb a tree and drop a bunch around her. She loves pretty things, so these leaves would probably get to her." He suggested, still keeping his voice low.

The teddiursa gave a nod, happy to help the glaceon before running off with an excited giggle to collect some leaves out of sight.

Mirage blinked, "Hey, where's he going?" she demanded to know. She looked to Sova, expecting him to answer outright due to his recent behavior towards her. Her collar of fur fluffed up a bit as she became cautious of anything that might be happening. What if the glaceon was just being extraordinarily nicer to her because he was planning to detain her? All of what he said and did before just an act? She watched the Glaceon with caution, looking for any sign of ingenuity or honesty or something.

Sova turned to Mirage and hesitated for a moment before answering. He had to think of something on the spot to say to her. "Oh, I asked him to get some items for us, he was happy to help." He said. It wasn't like he was lying. It was technically honest, even if it wasn't the whole truth. Besides, the half-truth was for the good cause of putting a smile on Mirage's face.

As if the world simply wanted this glaceon to have the opposite of everything he desired, a deerling came running out of the foliage near the duo, not looking where it was going. Of course, where else would it be headed than right into Mirage.... There was no way it would be able to stop in time even if he attempted to tell it to, so thinking on his feet, he rushed in front of Mirage, not bothering to see if she'd moved or stayed where she was.

The deer slammed into the glaceon hard enough to make him wince and stumble back a bit, as well as knocking its self onto the ground. "Owww...." He muttered to himself as he looked to see what had become of Mirage.

Unluckily for the Glaceon, the zorua had been on guard and was out of the way of the deerling and the ice type and taken the strike for nothing. As if to add insult to the injury, another deerling had darted from the bushes into the one before, smashing into it.

"Ow Watch it!" the newest one exclaimed.

"No this thing needs to watch it! I was just fine until he jumped in the way!" the first shot back.

Mirage raised a brow as she watched the two fight over who needed to watch it, she looked to the Glaceon and asked, "Anything broken?" She seemed to ignore the fact that the Glaceon was attempting to save her from a rather harmful situation, especially with her paw.

Sova didn't know how he felt about being called a "thing", but it was of no concern. His main concern was Mirage, who was safe....though he'd taken a hit for nothing. But better safe than sorry. "Well I'm still standing, so no, not that I can tell." He replied, flexing parts of his body to ensure there was no damage. His side definitely didn't feel good, but there wasn't anything broken or otherwise badly damaged.

In his focus on himself and Mirage, he hadn't even realized that he was completely ignoring the two deerlings. What if the one who had ran into him was hurt? No matter, that could wait.

"You got in the way!"
"No this blue thing jumped in my way!"

The deerling continued fighting, until finally the first deerling turned to the Glaceon and asked, "Hey! Tell her how you got in my way please!"

Mirage watched the spectacle from the sidelines, having no part in this nor having the will to be a part of this. She gave a yawn and licked her lips, feeling a bit hungry but not to the point where she felt as if she had to eat this minute. She took a seat once more, and waited for the Glaceon's reaction, would he be nice? Or will he just continue to ignore them from what she had seen him do thus far. She had almost forgotten about the teddiursa, and the predicament that she had been worrying about before-hand.

Sova opened his mouth to speak to Mirage more, but was cut off by the sounds of the arguing deelings, one of which was attempting to communicate with him. He groaned and turned to the two deer. "Yes. Now shoo, and watch where you're going next time." He said in an agitated tone. How could these two deerlings argue so much about this? No one was hurt, even emotionally.

"Alright, how about this! If I beat you to The Great Oak, then you're the one who needs to watch it!" The second one spoke.
"You're on!" the first piped.

It was in a matter of seconds before the two burst into a run and disappeared from sight. Mirage watched them go and turned to look back at the Glaceon, "You were-what the hell?" Mirage interrupted herself when a shower of leaves began raining down on her. She stood up and shook herself as much as she could, trying to shake off the sudden rush of leaves. She looked up to see a teddiursa laughing and dumping a bag of leaves down on her from the branches above.

Freddy, however stopped laughing and cried out in fear as he slipped from the branch above due to loss of balance and fell onto the confused Zorua, pinning her to the ground as she cried out in pain.

"Oh no i'm so sorry!" Freddy spoke, getting off and looked as if he was going to cry.

Sova sighed in relief at the deerlings finally leaving, but his relief was short lived. It seemed the leaf rain was finally prepared, but did not effect Mirage how he'd hoped. It appeared she was only annoyed by the leaves. Worse yet, she'd also gotten a bear dropped on her, which the glaceon could only assume didn't feel good. "Ah! A-are you okay?" He frantically questioned the two, though honestly, he was far more worried about Mirage.

The teddiursa nodded, but still seemed to be close to crying, "I-I'm s-s-s-sorry! I was just trying to Heeeelp! I didn't mean tooo!"

Mirage, still being covered in the leaves that still fell from the bag, merely huffed and looked to the teddiursa with a glare. She spoke, "Yes I'm fine," before giving a puff through her nose to blow a leaf off that landed on her snout. She sat up and walked away from the large pile of leaves, kicking some at the teddiursa in hopes to express her annoyance, but it seemed she only amused it.

"Ooh! Pretty!" it said, cheering up and trying to grab each and every one of the leaves that had been kicked into the air.

The sweet relief returned to Sova, knowing Mirage was fine and only seemed mildly annoyed. In other words the same as usual. The teddiursa had also been cheered up within a matter of seconds, the leaves clearly having a much better effect on him than the zorua. Why couldn't Mirage be that interested in the leaves? "Good, good. On the bright side, at least you know what we were whispering about now." He said, not wanting to outright state he'd had something to do with the shower of leaves and teddiursas, but still trying to make it fairly obvious.
