The Hunt is On!

So this was the Fallen Leaf Copse....the thing Sova had failed to find first. It was certainly beautiful enough to be a treasure, but the real treasure was within....somewhere. Perhaps it wasn't too late for him to be the one to find the treasure. Of course, having someone as enthusiastic about treasure as Mirage with him was sure to help as well.

"This looks like a nice place to live...." He said.

Mirage could feel herself falling asleep, slumber closing around her as she waited for Sova to find her out or give up. She fell asleep completely, and turned in her sleep, causing the leaves to rustle near the Glaceon, and give away her position had he been paying attention to the sound around him. Her silent breathing made no sound as her flank rose and fell, slumbering away and unaware of things around her no more.

Sova watched as leaves rustling revealed Mirage's location, but far worse, something else was watching as well. A rather angry looking ursarang.... "MIRAGE! WATCH OUT!" He shouted as he leaped down off of the tree, catching the attention of the ursarang that was now just inches away from the den.

The ursarang jabbed a paw into the den, but recoiled back as it felt the glaceon's fangs on its back. Sova lowered his body temperature to the point that even being in contact with the ursarang was cold-burning it, causing it to flail around in an attempt to get him off of it.

Mirage turned in her sleep, wishing the loud noises would go away
Mirage was jolted out of her slumber, she saw a large bear claw in her face, and had latched onto it with her own teeth. The bear recoiled, to what she believed was her bite, but she saw Sova as she was tossed about, still clinging to the bear's claw in fear of letting go while it tried to throw her and the Glaceon off. Mirage sunk her fangs deeper into the bear's paw, the ursaring finally flinging her off into some bushes, where she laid in wait to try to gather information on what was going on while she was being flung about.

After flinging the zorua off of it, the bear focused on the pest on its back, deciding the best course of action was to simply lay down and crush him. Sova did his best to hop off of it and flee from under it as quickly as possible, but as it landed, it rolled onto its side and grabbed onto his tail with a paw. "Oh shi-" He barely managed to say before he was flung backwards into a tree, hitting with a loud thud and falling to the ground.

"Oooow....That wasn't very nice...." He muttered as he struggled back to his feet, only to see a shadow looming over him on the ground. He looked up to see the ursarang over him. "Oh. Hi." He said in an attempt to converse rather than continue fighting. The bear's response was opening its mouth and lunging for him in an attempt to bite him. He jumped onto the trunk of the tree and back off of it to avoid the bite, landing on the bear's back yet again as its head slammed into the tree. As he ran down its back, he froze his tail fur into a spiky flail and dragged it along the bear's back, scratching it all the way down.

Mirage leaped back into the fray, the bear was trying to stand up straight to give the Glaceon the boot off of its back. She quickly darted in front of it, and used Dark Pulse, hitting it straight in its belly ring as if it were some kind of target for target practice. The bear doubled over, covering its pained stomach with its paws. This resulted in allowing Mirage to leap onto its head and use Fury Swipes along the back like Sova had done with the tail, causing the scratch wounds to open and bleed more, causing even more pain for the bear pokemon.

Sova backed away to catch his breath, basically tagging out with Mirage as she took over where he left off in mauling the bear. As it began trying to shake the zorua off, he decided to cut his break short and jump back into the fight. He ran around to its front end, firing an Ice Beam at the belly ring where Mirage had previously attacked, figuring hitting the same places multiple times seemed to be where this fight was going. It seemed like a good idea anyways, so he wasn't going to protest. The bear shook its head violently in an attempt to get Mirage off of it, reaching its arms up, but dropping them back down as the Ice Beam hit it.

The bear gave up trying to knock the pest off with his own claws, and instead slammed her against the bark of a tree. Mirage yelped as she was thrashed against the tree, she blacked out almost immediately, the pain in her paw re-awakening momentarily before she fell into unconsciousness. She fell to the forest floor, unable to move as the bear turned towards Sova and gave a furious bellow. The bear charged towards the Glaceon, attempting to knock into it with its frozen flailing arms.

(RANDOM GIANT POST APPROACHING RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN)

"Mirage!"  Sova called out because he felt that would somehow help as the zorua was slammed into a tree and knocked out.  Though he wasn't given much time to worry as the bear turned to face him.  As it charged him, he fired another Ice Beam directly at its ring, though this didn't seem to slow the bear's approach at all.  He was forced to move out of the way to avoid the rampage, narrowly avoiding the enemy.

Deciding it would be best to fight from a range, Sova began using a combination of Ice Beam and Quick Attack to stay out of the bear's reach, which was working, until it turned its sights to the unconscious Mirage.  It began forming a glowing ball of light in front of its maw, recognized instantly by Sova.  How could he forget Hyper Beam?  He'd been hit by one before, after all.

The glaceon darted towards the ursaring without a second thought, knowing it was what it wanted, but having no other choice.  Of course, the bear turned its head to Sova and fired the beam just as he was too close to avoid it, immediately making him feel as if his entire body was burning.  He couldn't help but scream from the pain.  When the death ray finally ended after only a few moments, which seemed like minutes to the glaceon, he was left barely standing.  He had attempted to lower his body temperature to stop the horrible burning pain, but his darkened fur showed it clearly hadn't worked.

As Sova began to feel gravity pulling him to the ground, his voice began echoing through his head.  His voice, but different in tone.  More....malevolent.  "Looks like it's my turn...."  The voice echoed as his vision blurred.  "Don't worry, I'll make sure to have plenty of fun with the big bad bear on your behalf."

Just as his eyes began to close from the pain and lack of energy, he....changed his mind.  He didn't want to let some spooky voice in his head rule him.  He could do this on his own.  He took a Hyper Beam when he was an eevee and got up, surely he could do it now. He fought against gravity's pull on him just to stay standing, refusing to lose or rely on some insanity from the darkest part of his mind.

"I'm....fine...."  He muttered, finding his mind too filled with the voice to think clearly.

It seemed that fate had different plans than watching the glaceon be brutally beaten by the ursaring.

"FIRST TO KICK THE URSARING IN THE HEAD WINS!" a voice shouted from the sidelines. The ursaring turned towards the noise, confused by the new sound. As if on cue, three deerling shot out of the bushes and began to kick the ursaring in various places, none of which were pleasant to him. The deerling kept jumping and kicking, trying to get to the head,but failing and instead whacking his shoulders, stomach, chest, and spine.

The ursaring could take no more and finally collapsed, allowing a deerling to kick the head with ease, "Hah! I win!"

The other deerling leered at the winner, not pleased with the performance and their lack of winning.

The winner turned and seemed to have just now noticed Sova, "Oh, hey its the thing that got into my way earlier..."

Sova prepared an Ice Beam and began thinking of a plan to beat this juggernaut when their fight was....interrupted? A few deerlings had decided to butt in and utterly wreck the poor bear. The glaceon found himself sitting down and watching in his confusion. What was wrong with the deerlings here? Were they all high on drugs? To make matters worse, they hadn't even noticed him until AFTER knocking the ursaring out. That meant they were just randomly going around kicking everything, right? Regardless, he wasn't going to complain about the free win. Not when it was Mirage's safety at stake.

Oh wait, one was talking to him, right. "Uh....yeah, I'm the "thing" that you ran into. I'm a glaceon and I'm a guy. Now you don't need to call me a thing." He commented back at the deerling.

"Oh, Sorry, I didn't know what you were so I just called you a thing. Anyways you should be careful, Ursarings around here are really powerful and they don't like other intruding on their territory. Now, FIRST ONE TO THE SHRINE WINS!"

Mirage had woken up to the sound of voices, only comprehending the word 'shrine', "Wait...what...shrine?" she asked, dazed and confused. What shrine? Who's voice was that? The zorua looked to the Glaceon and was just in time to see the deerling prance off without further word being said.

"What happened?" she asked, wondering how she had gotten knocked out.

Sova hesitated to answer, still trying to comprehend what had just happened. "Uh....well....you got slammed into a tree and knocked out, then I got hit with a hyper beam...." He paused, deciding to leave out the part about the Hyper Beam only hitting him because he chose not to let it hit Mirage.

"Aaaand then those deerlings trampled the ursaring. Eventful, to say the least." He continued. Despite all that had just happened, he was rather nonchalant about it. Mirage wasn't dead, the glaceon was in control of his own body and a random group of deerlings just trampled a very threatening enemy for them. There was nothing to worry about now.

"Oh, and about the shrine, I have no clue what they're talking about. There must be a shrine somewhere around here. I'm guessing it's not the treasure though if it's well known enough for them to find it. Might still be worth checking out, if you want."

Mirage huffed, "Well shrines are usually kind of important in some way, so-" Mirage was cut off as she heard a shaking of a tree across the battle area. Another bear decided to stumble upon their party, the Ursaring lazily lumbered into the field, not quite knowing what it had stumbled upon. The ursaring looked to the passed out one, and then to the weakened two pokemon.

"Huh..." the bear spoke, grinning and giving a lick of its chops, "Dinner..."

"Sova...I think we should run," Mirage spoke, her eyes getting wide as yet another bear appeared before them to challenge them to a battle to the death.

Sova glared at the bear, refusing to back down in submission to anything. "Yeah, you go ahead and run....DINNER needs to have a talk with this ursaring." He said loud enough to ensure the bear would hear. He wasn't going to take that kind of talk from something then run from it. Even if he died in the process, he would make sure Mirage could get away and he'd give the bear some wounds to think about in the process. His fur began freezing into icy spikes and he looked into his bag of tricks for something to assist him in fighting, already having decided there was no reason for him to run.

"Dumb*ss. I wont run if you wont. There's no way you'll be able to fight that thing alone, now come on and stop being an idiot," she snarled. Although she was not actually serious about staying, it was a mere bluff to save the Glaceon's hide.
"I have a bum paw, and you have that Hyper Beam Blast on you, who do you think is going to win? We could barely take on the first on our own! Now come on before you force me to stay here and die."

Mirage turned, expecting the Glaceon to either submit to her bluff and flee or insist upon this moronic attitude and she was forced to leave him for dead. There was no way she could fight that thing the way she was now, and she doubted even Sova could too.
