The Hunt is On!

So this was the Fallen Leaf Copse....the thing Sova had failed to find first. It was certainly beautiful enough to be a treasure, but the real treasure was within....somewhere. Perhaps it wasn't too late for him to be the one to find the treasure. Of course, having someone as enthusiastic about treasure as Mirage with him was sure to help as well.

"This looks like a nice place to live...." He said.

"Yes, do tell.  Who is going to win?  You....without me?"  The voice echoed through Sova's still tired and exhausted mind for just a moment as he let a feeling of weakness overcome him.  He could do it on his own.  Surely....  But not if Mirage was there.  It was far too risky; nothing, not even his own ego was worth letting Mirage get hurt or worse....killed.

He shook his head in an attempt to free himself of the thoughts, mostly the haunting voice, before turning and breaking into a run.  "Alright, you win, as long as it gets you to safety....  I can't let you get hurt any more."  He said in a slightly disappointed tone.  If he had to choose between his own pride and Mirage, his pride could go to hell.  Why was that anyways?  Why did this zorua matter so much?  He couldn't help but wonder.

Her bluff had worked, she turned and began to run, trying to ignore her pained paw, "Hurry up, I have a bum paw and i'm STILL running faster than you!" she snarled as the bear rose to its hind legs and gave a loud bellow, ready to give chase to the prey. It was strange though, usually an ursaring wouldn't want trouble with a meal, but this one seemed to enjoy the thrill of the chase. Mirage could hear the paws of the ursaring pounding after them as she fled, ready to get the heck out of there if needed.

Sova trailed behind Mirage intentionally; if the bear was going to hit one of them, it was going to be him, this he would make sure of. "If I hurry up I could get ahead of you then you'd be the one at risk!" He replied to the zorua.

As the sounds of the ursaring stampeding after them became apparent and grew louder, the glaceon began frantically searching for a way out. After a moment of thought, having to use his tactical thinking for the first time in a long while, he came up with a plan. He turned and fired an Ice Beam at the ground in front of him, freezing the ground on the path into a slippery icy wonderland. He then turned and used Quick Attack to catch back up to Mirage without looking back to see if the bear had slipped as planned.

The bear had indeed slipped, it had been close enough for its paws to be struck by the ice beam however. The ursaring's paw froze over, but it still chased after them.

Mirage kept running, finding that the entrance to the dungeon was just ahead. Without waiting to look back, she began to jump from stone to stone, ready to leave the dungeon if need be to get away from that angry, hungry, and insane ursaring who was now hindered with a frozen paw. The bear pokemon bellowed in rage, trying to pick up the pace to at least catch the glaceon before it reached the stones, the bear was not willing to chase after them over the water.

As Sova saw Mirage reach the path of stones over the water, he took it as a cue to get the hell out of there as well. Using Quick Attack, he sped ahead until he was just reaching the edge of the water, slowing his pace enough to not risk falling into the water as he hopped across the rocks. He then looked back to see if the bear was still pursuing. The first thing he noticed was its frozen paw, so obviously his Ice Beam had done SOMETHING. How in the world was it still managing to keep up?

The ursaring stopped once it reached the water's edge, giving an enraged bellow as it watched its prey flee across the stepping stones. The glaceon moving along with ease while Mirage struggled slightly, but seemed to be getting across just fine. The bear walked along the edge of the shore, as if trying to decide whether or not to follow. It instead took a seat and watched them, waiting for them to come back as if they would actually do that.

Mirage huffed once she was on the other side, "Well, guess we wont be able to go back in there for quite a while..." before turning and leaving without another word or even waiting for a response.

Sova laughed at the bear who seemed to be too scared to cross the water before turning and going on his way across the stones. Though he hopped across them with ease, he decided to try and test the power of his Ice Beam instead. He fired an Ice Beam at the water beside the rocks, freezing it before hopping onto the plate of ice. He then fired another Ice Beam and began running, freezing the water under him as he ran. This allowed him to get to the other side of the water with ease.

"Guess not. Even though I still think we could take it." He commented as he followed after Mirage, looking back once more. He'd be back to find the treasure. Eventually.
