Sinnoh Journey RP

A loud cry of 'Murkrow Murkrow!' shattered the morning's silence and a pale young girl rolled over in her bed, tangling herself in her duvet. When the cries didn't stop, she sat up, her short, golden-blonde hair a scraggly mess. She turned to see her Murkrow friend, perched on the windowsill. The Darkness Pokemon was stood half in and half out of the window, watching Raine as she got to her feet. Satisfied that her friend and soon-to-be trainer was fully awake, the Murkrow fluttered out of the bedroom window. Raine watched her leave before going to shower and get changed out of her pyjamas. She picked out a pair of pale blue, three quarter length leggings and a long, lavender coloured shirt. The shirt had short sleeves and splayed out just slightly past her waist.

A short while later, Raine wandered downstairs, brushing her hair as she headed into the kitchen. An older female was stood washing up the dirty dishes and cups that had been left next to the sink.
"Hey mom," smiled Raine, grabbing herself a bowl from the cupboard and a spoon from the draw next to the sink.
"Morning darling!" replied Amaya as she put the last dish on the draining rack and dried her hands on a tea towel.
"Are you excited for your journey?" she asked as Raine sat down at the table to eat her cereal. The young girl nodded as she began wolfing down her breakfast. Just then, the same Murkrow from before fluttered through the kitchen window, landing on the dining table with a caw.
Amaya chuckled and reached into the cupboard where the poffins were stored. Raine had made these poffins specifically for Nightshade the night before so that she could take them with her on her journey. The trainer-to-be realised that she would likely have to make new recipes for any other Pokemon that joined her team, but she didn't mind. She liked cooking them after all.

When Raine finished her breakfast and Nightshade finished one of the Poffins, Raine wandered into the living room. On the coffee table was the bag she had packed before she had gone to bed. The bag itself was blue, darker than her leggings but just lighter than the sky on a bright, sunny day. Inside was a sleeping bag and pyjamas, along with changes of clothes and other essentials. It was almost as if the bag was bigger on the inside, fitting a ridiculous amount of things inside of it and still having room for more. Raine grabbed the Poffins from the kitchen and packed those in a small Tupperware box. Along with a pouch of various berries from her mother's garden, they were put in their own Pocket. Raine made sure that she also had her purse in one of the inside pockets, counting the money to make sure it was all there. She made a mental note to make sure she didn't spend too much.

When she was finally satisfied that she had packed everything, including a coat for if it got cold, Raine left the house. Her mother insisted on hugging her before a quick exchange of "Bye!" and "Good luck!"
"And don't forget to give your father his lunch!" chuckled Amaya, waving to her daughter as she made her way down the street.
"I won't! Bye mom!" she replied, and soon Raine was on the road, heading out of Eterna City and towards Floaroma Town.

"Oh... uh. That's.. that's the Old Château," she replied. Despite the scary look of the place, she didn't look to frightened. The old house being part of the forest, Raine has explored it, or attempted to explore it more than once. She had never had the courage to go inside however, until after she befriended Nightshade. Now she didn't particularly mind the old house. It was only full of Pokemon... and the odd... unexplained noise.
"It's been empty for as long as anyone can remember," she added after a few seconds pause.

"Hrm," John said, thinking. At first thought, it was strange for someone to build a mansion out in the forest. But after thinking about it a bit, building a house in Eterna forest wasn't a bad idea. It's beautiful here, and some people enjoy more rural places. But now it's abandoned, for whatever reason. Maybe the owner, or owners, found a new place to live, or something happened to him, her, them, whatever.

As the gang approached the Château, Rast, again with his Noctowl vision, noticed something. It was another sock, similar to the one that had dropped out from John's backpack. And it was hanging on the gate to the Old Château's yard. Rast notified John about it, and he went over to investigate. "Yep. It must be in the Château. But how'd it get on the gate...?" John said, inspecting the sock and the gate. He stuffed the sock in his pocket with the other one, and tried to open the gate. It was jammed, rusted shut. John & Rast hopped over the gate, and onto the yard. The Old Château ominously loomed over them. John turned to Raine. "Look, I'm not sure what's in there. Whatever it is could be dangerous, and really don't want you to get hurt. You sure you want to stick around for it?" John asked, arms crossed on the gate.

Raine watched as John wandered over to the sock. Raine assumed that it was his.. after all where else would a sock come from in the middle of the forest, other than John's lost backpack? John himself practically confirmed this a few seconds later before he stuffed the sock into his pocket.

Raine blinked a John, giving him a look that was almost incredulous.
"It wouldn't be the first time I've been in there..." she said, her voice rather quiet as she still didn't really know John all too much. When it came to the Château, Raine really wasn't scared. Just like the forest, she now knew it almost inside out.

"Right then!" John said, looking towards the Château. "Lets find this jerk and get my backpack," He said, starting to walk towards Château's front door. The wooden exterior was beginning to show signs of decay, the worn paint not doing much to hide it. Most of the windows were smashed, maybe because of wild pokemon, hooligans, whatever. The door itself was still intact, for a first glance at least. He was about to knock, but then he remembered it was abandoned. John readied his foot, and kicked open the door. "Welp, lets go in..." John said, slowly walking into the Old Château.

Raine followed John towards the abandoned Château, watching as he kicked open the door. Nightshade ruffled her feathers, not entirely liking the sound of the squeaking door as it was kicked open. Ryuzi's cheeks crackled with electricity as they wandered inside. The electricity lit up the darker areas of the Château's entrance hall.(or foyer. Whatever you wanna call it xD)

John was glad that Raine had that Pachirisu. It would be a whole lot darker, considering he didn't have a flashlight, or some way to illuminate the Château. He surveyed the foyer type area. It was mainly made up of wood, with a hallway leading deeper into the Château in front of them. On the sides of the foyer, there were two staircases that went up to a higher level. Above them was a loosely hanging chandelier, one of those ones with the hanging crystals and candles on top. It was slightly unsettling, as it seemed it would break at any moment.

"Well, this is nice," John said with the utmost amount of sarcasm. "You know this place better than I do. Where should we look first?" John asked.

(Lol well apparently I haven't been too much better at posting. xD)

Raine glanced around before looking back to John, "Well.. I guess it depends on where you think this person would be. That room there is a dead end."
Raine pointed ahead of them, to the doorway that lead to the Dining Hall. If there was anyone in there they would be cornered, either in the dining room itself or inside one of the smaller areas either side of the large room.
Raine then nodded to each of the staircases.
"If you go up one staircase you can come back down the other, so it's not very good if you plan on cornering whoever stole your backpack..."

Ryuzi's cheeks continued to crackle with electricity. It seemed as if he didn't like the eeriness of the Château very much. Nightshade on the other hand seemed rather comfortable, perhaps because of her Dark typing.

"Hmm. Well, if went upstairs and the thief was in the dining room, the thief could escape without us seeing. And if we went into the dining room first, the same thing could happen," John said, thinking how they could prevent the thief from leaving. "How 'bout this," John said, looking to Rast. "You stay here and keep watch. Make sure nothing leaves here but us, got it?" John asked. Rast nodded. "Good," John said, looking down the hall. "Lets start with the dining room, shall we?" John said, making his way to the dining hall.

"You wanna stay with Rast, Nightshade?" asked Raine. The Murkrow was more used to the Château's environment and Raine would still have Ryuzi to light the way.
Nightshade looked hesitant for a moment, not exactly wanting to leave her perch on Raine's shoulder, but she knew that her trainer would be fine and eventually fluttered down.

"I'll see you in a minute!" she smiled before following John to the dining hall.
The Pachirisu glanced around the room from his seat on Raine's head, the glow from his electricity illuminating the area, despite the small amount of light that was already entering through the windows.

John was kind of glad Nightshade decided to stay with Rast. If this thief was really dangerous, Nightshade would be there to help. Still, John doubted anything bad would happen to them. The thief was probably just some dumb pokemon scavenging, and found his backpack. It was probably a Bidoof, or something. It was kind of a funny thought. John had gone all the way from his home, into this creepy house, or Château as it were, just to find out a little Bidoof stole his backpack. John walked into the dining room with Raine.

The dining room was in no better condition than the rest of the Château. Rotting wall paper, broken floor boards, and broken furniture. The dining table seemed to be in good condition, some of the chairs still in tact as well. Windows showing the back of the house were smashed, just like the ones that were at the front of the house. A faded painting loosely hanged on the wall. It looked like it use to be the picture of a generic mountain range. "This place sure is fancy. Or was. Do you know who used to own this place, Raine?" John asked.

"No, actually," replied Raine quietly, "I've never asked anyone about it, though I have wondered."
She wandered over to one of the broken windows, avoiding any glass on the floor and glanced outside. There was at least a little light coming through the windows, despite the thick canopy the trees provided.
"Found anything?" she asked, turning back to see where John had gotten to.

John continued to search the room. He checked under the table first, as it was the obvious hiding place. He noticed a opening at the end of the room, most likely leading into another room. If the thief was in here, then maybe he, she, or it retreated into that room.

"Found anything?" Raine said. John was about to tell her, but if he said it out loud the thief could hear it. John walked over to Raine, and said quietly, "There is a back room, over there. At the end of the table," John said, pointing to the opening. "I'm gonna go check it out, alright? If anything happens, come over to help," John said, making his way to the opening. His did his best to stay quiet, what with the shattered glass and broken floorboards. Eventually, John was just at the entrance to the room. He picked up a loose floorboard from the floor, just in case whatever it was is dangerous. John quickly went into the room, floorboard raised.

Sadly, there was nothing inside. "Er, nevermind. It's all clear," John called back out to Raine. He dropped the floorboard and went back into the dining room. "Well, now we know where the thief isn't. Lets try the upstairs now," John said, walking to the exit of the dining room.

Raine nodded to John as he headed into room. It was like a small kitchen, she could picture it clearly, despite it's ruin. When John came back empty handed, she swiftly headed out of the eerie dining room.
Raine walked out of the door and Nightshade immediately fluttered over to her.
"Chi Pa!" Ryuzi cried, glad to see the Murkrow again. Nightshade just cawed a few times to acknowledge the greeting, before landing back on Raine's shoulder. Raine reached up to flatten the feather's on Nightshade's back.
"Anything happen out here?" she asked the two Pokemon.

John followed Raine out of the dining room, an out to the foyer. Rast walked over to him, glad to see his trainer was alright. "Any trouble?" John asked Rast. Rast replied with a shake of his head. "Welp, that leaves the upstairs. I think it'd be wise if we took you guys with us, as I doubt the thief will get past our sights if it comes down this way," John said. "And with that, lets find ourselves a thief," He said, walking over to the closest flight of stairs. Byt he first step he took, John could tell that this thing was really rickety. But, he continued to ascend up the stairs, eventually making it to the top. "Er, it's safe. Kinda. Come on up," John said, waiting for Raine & Her pokemon to come up to the second level. Rast fluttered up to the second floor, watching for anything.

"I was thinking perhaps I should go up the other staircase, just in case anything tries to escape with your pack whilst we're on the opposite side..." suggested Raine, glancing up at John from where she was still stood on the ground level.

Nightshade gently fluttered up onto the opposite banister, as if deciding to keep watch, even if Raine decided not to go that way.
