Up the mountain without a paddle Empty
PostSubject: Up the mountain without a paddle   Up the mountain without a paddle EmptyWed Feb 12, 2014 9:08 pm

It all had happened so fast, Sorren heard about the tallest mountain in the area and wanted to go see it for himself, maybe confront some fears. Everyone was out again so he started to talk to this pokemon, telling her of his plans, he was out the door and on his way before he could blink. he didn't even know her name.

"Hey! Uh sorry about this, but I don't think we've had time for introductions, I'm Sorren of Team Titans." Sorren said, with the enthusiasm of this pokemon, he wouldn't have to wait for long for a reply. maybe a millisecond.

"I'm Revira of Team Fishsticks and I'm sure we'll become the bestest of friends! Well, not the bestest of friends, 'cause that would be my teammembers obviously, but I'm sure we'll become great friends anyway!"
The Omanyte spoke quicky enough to make pretty much anyone question, whether she actually realized, that those were many single words and not just a single one.
But as anyone, who had seen her excited, which basically would be anyone, who has met her, could attest to, that was just her and that there was nothing else behind it other than not being able to wait any longer.
"So why are you here again? I just think, that this will be fun and maybe we'll discover some treasure and become heroes and..."
The words were simply refusing to stop emanating from the cephalopod. Once more Revira had gotten lost in the fantasies in her head, thinking of all the great adventures they would embark on together.

"Uhh... well I came here because I want to see the top of the mountain. I have a fear of heights, and lots of other stuff too, besides, there's suposadly an absole tribe here, would like to meet one of them. never actually seen an absol before, and i've been around the block a few times." Sorren replied, trying to keep up with The Omanyte in conversation, but it was a fruitless effort.

Soon egnough they were starting there way up a slope. Sorren started to see things change for a second, and then he knew, they were in the dungeon. He was struck with a wave of fear, but pushed it away, he had someone with him, someone that was nice and cared for him. he could do this.

"Careful, We're In the dungeon proper now." Sorren advised.

"Huh? You are afraid of heights? Why would anyone be afraid of heights? Does that mean you can't have fun on a rollercoaster? Aww, that's sad. I hope you- did you say "Absol tribe"? That sounds interesting! I can't wait to meet them!"
Having found a relatively flat piece of ground, Revira had withdrawn into her shell, rolling around in it playfully. This trip was going even better than expected. She had already made a new friend and there were so many interesting things to discover.
"So where are we going to go first? Do you have any specific place in mind? I have never been here before, so I don't really know, where to go. Maybe we should look for those Absol first. Or we could try to fix that big hole in the ceiling. We should be able to reach it if we get up high enough on this mountain. I have one question though. What is an Absol?"

"uh... hole in the... the ceiling?" Sorren asked, confused and concerned.

Rivira Was getting weirder by the minute. Sorren stopped to rest while she rolled around. He hoped that this wouldn't become some sort of escort mission. He sighed and was about to explain what an absol was when he heard a twig snap.

This dice is not existing.

"Yeah, that big, glowy thing up there!"
The Omanyte extended a small, blue tentacle towards the sky, the sun in particular.
"Don't tell me you haven't ever seen it. Maybe that is the reason this cave here has so many poor, corrupted Pokémon...But some day we will save them!"
Revira heard the twig snap as well, but her reaction was quite different from the expected one for an occassion such as this.
"Oh, is someone there? Hello, here we are! Nice to meet you! My name is Revira and that is Sorren!"
Obviously the Rock type still hadn't grasped the dangers this world brought with it. Used to the safe confines of her old cave, Pokémon voluntarily attacking one another still was an unthinkable thing for her.

A Poochyena lunged towards Rivera. Sorren lunged towards it, kicking it away, then mustered up an ember and fired at the wolf pokemon, who narrowly escaped with minimal burns. The bush next to it however, caught fire. Sorren used focus energy, ready for the Wolf pup to get up again.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" Sorren yelled at The Olamyte. "Pokemon in dungeons are not to be trusted, the are wild and will only think to hurt you! Be careful!"

"What? How could you say that if you haven't even talked to them?!"
The look on the Water type's face was one of pure shock, spurprise and bafflement.
"Maybe that Pokémon just wanted to greet us! And you attacked it for no reason!"
Quickly Revira scurried over to the injured Pokémon, hoping to comfort and console it.
"Oh poor, poor you. That meanie there was just scared and acted without thinking. Please don't be sad. Hopefully you can forgive him."
As one would easily be able to figure out, Revira's survival instincts were close to nonexistant from never having had to use them before. And while her tendency to only see the good in everyone may be useful in social situations, it could get dangerous in a place like this.

"If you insist on not believing me I'll have to show you" Sorren said. He stepped between the Omanyte and the poochyena and looked it in the eye. "You don't understand do you?"

The poochyena growled and lept for sorren, he didn't dodge. violents scratches and biting befell Sorren, but he took it in stride. He had to show Revira What pokemon could really be like. She couldn't stay ignorant.

"Uh, that's not really surprising, you know? Because you attacked it first! It would have no reason to do something like that if you wouldn't have brutally assaulted it!"
Revira failed to understand the Torchic's thoughts. How could a Pokémon ever voluntarily attack another Pokémon and without any reason except for baseless prejudice even?
But Sorren must have had his reasons. Maybe Revira could convince him, that no Pokémon was truly bad.
But how?
And what should they do with the angered Poochyenna, which had every right to claw at the Fire type?

Sorren sighed and finished off the poochyena. He swallowed his pride and talk to the Omanyte again.

"Maybe you are right, maybe if I call out first before attacking things will be different, but what happens if you get hurt? You don't seem like you know how to fight or want to fight, either way I can't let you get hurt. Most pokemon in dungeons are feral wild things that don't have very much intelligence, some do, but they are highly territorial and when you walk through their land you are as good as dead to them. There's no bargaining, no ending things peacefully, I would know, I've tried." Sorren said, sitting down on a rock.

Sorren had lost any enthusiasm he might have had, and after taking that beating was hoping to take a rest. He wished he could show Revira how these pokemon were, he guessed he just needed to be patient and show her.

So not all hope was lost for the small chicken!
Maybe she could convince him to try a more peaceful approach now!
"It is possible, that for whatever reason you are correct about that. But as you said, not every Pokémon is like that. And what made you know, that this Pokémon in particular would be an agressive one? You could try talking to them first. If that fails, then attacking them still is an option. Oh, and don't worry. I am quite capable of defending myself. And even if I get hit, I have this to protect me."
The Omanyte used one of her tentacles to tap against the heavy shell, that was covering her back.
"But...what is the reason for this aggressive behaviour? It can't be natural...there has got to be a way to fix this..."

"But it is natural isn't it? Pokemon are strong, resiliant things. I have seen some pokemon take direct hits from masive explosions and shrug it off like it was nothing, while the landscape was torn apart. When pokemon faint after exaustion, or are knocked out, Then wild pokemon usualy leave you alone. Fighting might just be a natural thing for us." Sorren pondered, getting up and stretching his legs.

He started walking up the mountain. Looking up at the sky he saw the massive peak pierce the clouds. He thought of how he would be higher then them and that gave him pause. Sorren had began this trip with optomism in his heart, but now he was standing here woried for an inocent pokemon that did not know a single thing about the pokemon that inhabeted her world. Sorren retured his gaze to the ground only to spot something.

"Hey, what's that?"

This dice is not existing.

"This sure is a strange cave you live in...where I come from, there is no fighting at all. Noone would ever attack another being, much less make it faint at all. Why can't that be true for this world as well?"
Some day, after the great libraries in her hometown would have been restored to their former glory, Revira would have to return back there and ask the great elders, what the world was like before they built all those things, and how they had managed to create the society they had today. Maybe, just maybe there would be a hint on how this cave could be saved from itself in those scriptures of old...
"Oh, and I don't know, what that is. I haven't been in this cave for too long yet, so I don't know much about the items here."

"Oh, It's just a stun seed." Sorren said, slightly disappointed. he turned to adress the Omanyte

"You do know that we aren't in a cave right? caves are giant hollow areas underground. or is that some kind of slang?" Sorren asked, pretty confused. "Oh do you want this? If you throw it at someone it paralyzes them. seems more your style."

Sorren pointed to the seed with a talon. Sorren to rely on items too much himself he would rather use his own strength. He felt that it conflicted with his view of getting stronger. Like his father always said, Stand on your own two feet. Only ask for a crutch if something get's broken.
