A Hoenn Adventure

Cassidy woke up to the sound of her rather loud Taillow alarm. The clock was a plain pale blue other than the Taillow model situated on top of it. The alarm continued to play the recorded "Taillow! Taillow!" call until Cassy rolled over and turned it off, looking at the time as she did so.
It was 6:30am and Cass was about to go back to sleep when she realised what the day was. She practically threw the quilt off herself as she leaped out of bed, stretching her arms. She went over to her window and threw open the curtains before opening the windows themselves to let in the fresh air.

After taking a quick shower to freshen up, Cassidy went back into her room to get changed. Sifting through her drawers, she picked out a shirt that was white with orange stripes. To go with it, she picked out a pair of pale peach coloured three quarter length trousers and a pale blue coat. Once she was dressed, she brushed her dark red hair and dug underneath her bed for her bag.
The bag was a simple, grey-blue shoulder bag but it was roomy and would likely hold all of what she would need to take with her.

Once she had packed everything she was going to take with her, she put her shoes on, grabbed her dark blue scarf and left a note in the kitchen for her parents when they woke up. She headed out at 7:30.

Cassidy didn't have to meet the Professor in his laboratory until about 10:00, so she spent the next few hours just outside of Littleroot Town, watching the world go by. She sat with her sketch book in her lap and her pencils and watercolours in one pocket of her bag. The route however, seemed to be deserted. There were no Pokemon to draw and she was so familiar with Route 101 now that she could draw every blade of grass without looking.

After a long while of sitting silently Cas gathered her things with a sigh and headed back into Town. She wandered down the street on her way to her friend Celeste's house. Surely she would be up and about by now. It was nearly 9:30 after all. Only half an hour to go until they could meet their new Pokemon!

Celeste called Doro over to her and sent Halcyon onto the field. "Alright, Halcyon! Nature Power to start things off!" She had decided to go for a nice quick start and keep things fast paced. However, seeing as Halcyon wasn't too fast, she knew that she had to maintain a steady speed and not urge the Lotad faster than he could manage.

Halcyon leaped eagerly into battle, his Nature Power attack deciding on using Swift because of the terrain they were currently located in. Bright yellow starts burst forth from the Lotad who was warbling happily. The stars were rather speedy, something that Celeste could use to her benefit due to the Lotad's own slow speed.

"Headbutt!" yelled Norman. This battle was only just getting started.

The Zigzagoon charged through the oncoming stars like a tank, accepting the damage and carrying on anyway. He charged towards the Lotad, his speed rather higher than Halcyon's.

Cassidy frowned. How on earth could the Zigzagoon charge through the Swift like that? She guessed it must have something to do with the fact that he was using Headbutt and the stars were hitting his head whilst he was doing so.

Celeste bit her lip in worry. She called out for Halcyon to get out of the way, but the oncoming Zigzagoon was like a tank. After being knocked backwards, Halcyon shakily stood back up. He let out a noise of determination and Celeste beamed down at him. They were only just getting started!

"Now, use absorb!"

The same unearthly green light that had come from Twayblade now radiated from the Lotad. It reached out towards the Zigzagoon, beckoning it and slowly enfolding it. It soon began the transfer of health from one Pokemon to the other.

The Zigzagoon began to panic as the green tendrils enclosed around it.
"Its okay Zigzagoon!" comforted Norman, trying to calm his Pokemon down. This particular Zigzagoon was new to his team, but it was forever trying to prove that it was a worthy Pokemon to Norman, despite the fact that Norman already knew this.

"Growl then Pursuit!"

The Zigzagoon stopped struggling and it's jaws parted. Accompanying this was a large growling sound which aimed to disrupt the Lotad. Then, even through the tendrils of Absorb, the Zigzagoon began moving towards Halcyon. It's sheer determination willing it onwards as it attempted to complete the Pursuit attack.

Halcyon made a distressed noise as the growl reached his ears. He shook his head to rid it of the sound.

"Watch out, Halcyon!" Celeste knew that the Lotad would never escape in time since the Zigzagoon had such a speed advantage. Her brow furrowed and then shot upward. "Use Nature Power, once more!" She offered a counter attack.

Halcyon released the shimmering stars once more, hoping at the very least they would buy him time to get out of the Zigzagoon's way. He toddled as fast as he could to a better vantage point.

The Zigzagoon yelped as the gold stars that made up Swift collided with it's zig-zagging pelt. It was propelled across the battlefield, sliding to a halt in the dust. However, it still rose again, eager to carry on and make Norman proud.
Norman smiled slightly at the Zigzagoon's determination before telling it to use Tackle.

With a short nod, the Zigzagoon charged back towards Halcyon. It wasn't about to go down without even delivering one hit.

Halcyon narrowed his eyes and waited for his partner's command. He may not be fast, but he was observant. He watched the Zigzagoon's every move and kept note of the repeated patterns of behavior it had.

Celeste watched the Zigzagoon with the same amount of intensity. "Halcyon, use Astonish!" She instructed.

Halcyon straightened up and preformed the attack, hoping to at least damage the Zigzagoon if not stop it from charging.

The Zigzagoon winced as the blob of water came straight for him, but he charged on like a tank, using his speed to his advantage. Once the attack was done, he backed up, unsure of what would happen next.

Halcyon tumbled backwards due to the force of the blow. Celeste gave him an encouraging look and he made a happy noise as he scrambled back to his feet.

"Absorb, one more time!" She ordered, deciding that this was the best method as of now.

Halcyon closed his eyes for a moment as he effortlessly unfurled the long green tendrils of light once more. He opened his eyes again as the lights reached out for the Zigzagoon in the same method as before; entrancing and calling.

"Headbutt them!"
The Zigzagoon quickly headbutted the tendrils before they could latch on to him and drain any more of his health. The determined Tiny Raccoon Pokemon then turned on the Lotad, continuing to use Headbutt as he charged towards him.

Halcyon took the attack with a determined look. He let out a pained noise as he was shoved backwards and he crumpled to the ground. Celeste urged him up. She could tell there was still fight left in the Lotad.

Halcyon opened his eyes and struggled upwards. He stood shakily and waited for his next instructions.

"Synthesis, Halcyon." Celeste knew that the Lotad wouldn't be able to handle yet another hit and that this move would be the best course of action.

"Growl then Pursuit!"

The Zigzagoon let out another Growl before charging towards the Lotad once more. This time though, he zig-zagged around as he made his way towards Halcyon...

The Lotad absorbed energy from the sunlight coming in through the windows and any other thing he could. He completed his healing and opened his eyes to see the Zigzagoon charging straight at him but in a zig zag path, making it even harder to land a hit.

Celeste's eyes were wide as she shouted hastily. "Use Nature Power!"

Halcyon scrambled backwards and sent a barrage of stars towards the gaining Zigzagoon.

The Zigzagoon dodged the stars with his zig-zagging movements, leaping between them whenever a gap appeared. It continued on it's path once clearing the Swift field, this time in a straight line.

Cassidy was on the edge of her seat right now. Any one hit could end this stage of the battle and move on to the next. She wondered what other Pokemon Norman planned on using...

"Astonish!" Celeste called, trying her best not to sound too worked up.

Halcyon fired an Astonish attack at the Zigzagoon, anything to stop it reaching him. He struggled about but it was inevitable that the Tiny Raccoon Pokemon would hit him. He braced himself for impact.
