A Hoenn Adventure

Cassidy woke up to the sound of her rather loud Taillow alarm. The clock was a plain pale blue other than the Taillow model situated on top of it. The alarm continued to play the recorded "Taillow! Taillow!" call until Cassy rolled over and turned it off, looking at the time as she did so.
It was 6:30am and Cass was about to go back to sleep when she realised what the day was. She practically threw the quilt off herself as she leaped out of bed, stretching her arms. She went over to her window and threw open the curtains before opening the windows themselves to let in the fresh air.

After taking a quick shower to freshen up, Cassidy went back into her room to get changed. Sifting through her drawers, she picked out a shirt that was white with orange stripes. To go with it, she picked out a pair of pale peach coloured three quarter length trousers and a pale blue coat. Once she was dressed, she brushed her dark red hair and dug underneath her bed for her bag.
The bag was a simple, grey-blue shoulder bag but it was roomy and would likely hold all of what she would need to take with her.

Once she had packed everything she was going to take with her, she put her shoes on, grabbed her dark blue scarf and left a note in the kitchen for her parents when they woke up. She headed out at 7:30.

Cassidy didn't have to meet the Professor in his laboratory until about 10:00, so she spent the next few hours just outside of Littleroot Town, watching the world go by. She sat with her sketch book in her lap and her pencils and watercolours in one pocket of her bag. The route however, seemed to be deserted. There were no Pokemon to draw and she was so familiar with Route 101 now that she could draw every blade of grass without looking.

After a long while of sitting silently Cas gathered her things with a sigh and headed back into Town. She wandered down the street on her way to her friend Celeste's house. Surely she would be up and about by now. It was nearly 9:30 after all. Only half an hour to go until they could meet their new Pokemon!

"I say lets go!" she grinned, pointing back towards Petalburg city. If they walked fast, they could get through the city, past the beach and get at least part way through Petalburg woods before it got dark.
Cassidy then lead the way back towards Petalburg, heading for the Pokemon Centre to pick up their Pokemon.
"We'll see you around Wally!" she waved back to him as she carried on walking.

After retrieving her's and Cassidy's pokemon and waving good-bye to Wally, Celeste lead the way to the next route entrance. She paused at the gate for the annual narrative for the next advance in their journey. "And so the friends took their next step in their grand journey, joined by new pokemon and new knowledge. They knew not what would come next, but they had faith that the awesome Celeste would help them through it-" Her final words were muffled by a wing belonging to Ace as he gave her a look that just said 'Seriously?'

Cassidy shook her head, disguising a chuckle as she moved on, watching as Ace muffled the last of Celeste's words. She scanned the Route with, shading her eyes so that she could see without the sun in them. Serena was on her shoulder, pushing up her green 'helmet' so that she too could see what was ahead.
It didn't take Cas long to find something to battle. Soon Serena was using Confusion on a Zigzagoon. It began wandering around in circles after the move Confused it and Cassy watched it's behaviour curiously.

Celeste wandered off with her four pokemon, each of them walking on their own. Well, flying in Ace's case. After a moment it was decided that Halcyon and Deluge would be trained first. She soon ran into a variety of pokemon ranging from Poochyena to Marill. She battled hard and avoided most damage, stopping training one pokemon so that it could rest and then switching to another.

The area Celeste was in soon emptied, Pokemon fleeing from the site when they heard battle cries and rustling. Celeste wandered out of the grass into a small, cozy clearing where she began training for a contest. She found a way to use Mirror Coat to make a rather beautiful display for a team contest. If Deluge used Bubble while Doro used Mirror Coat, the resulting display was a sort of blue glittery explosion. Celeste giggled and used different move pairings and taught all four of them several maneuvers which would be useful both in battle and in contests.

By the time Celeste had finally exhausted both herself and her Pokemon, each of them had gained quite a few levels. She lazily scanned them with her Pokedex and couldn't hold back a goofy grin as she read their new levels; Doro:15 Halcyon:13 Ace:14 Deluge:13. Doro had replaced Tackle with Bide, Halcyon had replaced Astonish with Mist, Deluge had learned Sweet Scent, and Ace's moves had remained the same. Celeste dropped her hand to the ground and promptly fell asleep, woozy smile still spread across her face.

After a bout of training with each of her four Pokemon, Cassidy had worked on other combinations. She had tried different things with her two Beautifly, as well as Twayblade and Serena and other such combinations. All four Pokemon had gained a few healthy levels as well as some neat tactic during the training.

It was then that Cassidy spotted a Taillow. Immediately she yelled to her team, "I'm going to catch it! Twayblade use Quick Attack!"
Cas knew that Flying types were fast, so using a fast move like Quick Attack would give her the upper hand, at least temporarily. The Taillow didn't see it coming until the attack collided with it, sending him flying a few feet away.
It immediately got back up however, seemingly rather annoyed at the fact that it had just been attacked. He zoomed straight for Twayblade with a Peck attack. The Treecko, despite trying to dodge, was hit and shook her head, feeling the effects much more than she would have with most other moves.
Crap. thought Cassidy, I forgot Flying type moves were super effective on Grass types...

"Twayblade are you good to go?" she asked. The Treecko nodded.
"Alright then, Quick Attack to get close, then Absorb!"

Twayblade did as she was bid and got in close, but the Taillow quickly flipped around, attempting another Peck attack. In a quick thinking recovery, the Treecko quickly flipped around and used Pound to counter it. Her tail blocked the brunt of the move, the speed of the Quick Attack enabling her to be fast enough to get there on time.

"Nice thinking Twayblade!" grinned Cassy, "now try Absorb again!"

With a quick nod, a red light came from the Treecko's paws. She backed up and let it do it's work, taking the Taillow's energy for herself. When Twayblade looked mostly recovered, Cassidy threw a Pokeball at the flying type.

She and the rest of her team watched as it shook from side to side, more times that it normally should have, before..... Click!

"YES!" yelled Cassidy, running over to grab the ball. She held it up in the air and struck a pose. She then promptly plopped down on the ground, letting the Taillow out so that she could name it.

After a short while of Cassidy staring at the Taillow, and the Taillow staring back at Cassidy, she suggested the name Tenor. The Taillow's mood seemed to lighten a bit and he nodded. The nod was only short and quick but it was a nod nonetheless. Grinned, She picked the Taillow up and used her Pokedex to examine it's moveset.
"Interesting...." she noted the addition of Supersonic to Tenor's moveset. As far as she knew, Taillow didn't normally know Supersonic, so this one's father must be a Wingull or something. Perhaps Tenor and Ace would get along.

Grinning, she returned Twayblade, Ditrysia and Shiruva to their Pokeballs and set about working out some combinations with him and Serena. She hoped that perhaps despite how different the two Pokemon were, she could get something to work with them. After this, she attempted Tenor and Ditrysia as a team, then Tenor and Twayblade. After seeing how little energy Tenor had left after practising these moves again and again, she decided to leave practising with Shiruva until another time.

After the long period of training and working out more tactics and combinations, Cassidy wandered over to a house by the beach. Glancing up at the sky, she noticed how the sun had begun to set. Cas chuckled to herself. She had completely lost track of time. She wondered where Celeste had gotten to and called out to her.
"Celeste?"

During Cassidy's training and the catching of Tenor, Celeste had been sleeping quite soundly. She was murmuring soft words and grunting every so often, flipping over sometimes. Well, she was sleeping soundly until Cassidy called out her name.

"KAWJNGLAW WHAT!? ARE THERE ROBBERS? ARE WE BEING ATTACKED!?" Celeste scrambled to her feet, dirt covering the back of her outfit, hair a giant tangled mess. She was screeching at the top of her lungs which then awoke her four Pokemon who set to panicking as they were jolted awake by her harsh screeches.

It was a huge mess of fur and feathers, to say the least.

"No, come over here!" she laughed, stepping up to the door and knocking on it. It was made of solid wood, oak by the looks of it. It took a while, but eventually and older looking man opened it, a Wingull perched neatly on his shoulder with it's wings pulled in so that it could sit comfortably.
"Hello," smiled Cassidy.

"Oh. Okay!~" Celeste trilled happily, gathering up her four Pokemon and skipping over to Cassidy. "Hello there!" She called out brightly to the man as she jogged up to the door. "I'm Celeste and this here is Cassidy." She introduced both of them for she wanted to get back to sleep as soon as possible. "We were hoping that you could let us rest here with our Pokemon for a while..?" She gave the man a hopeful smile.

The old man blinked before smiling, "Of course! My name is Mr. Briney. Come on in!"
Cassidy followed the man inside without a question, but she did think he was a bit creepy. Then again, Cas thought all old men were creepy, especially in Littleroot Town when they stared out of their windows for lack of better things to do.
Mr Briney indicated to some seats and Cassidy promptly claimed the sofa. She asked the old man if she could put her feet up, he nodded and she did just that, not forgetting to take her shoes off first. She then dug around in her bag and let her Pokemon out, most of which ended up curling up on her stomach or next to her on the floor. Tenor perched on the top of the couch.

Celeste was also slightly creeped out by the old man, but she was far too tired to dwell on the creep factor. She flopped onto her bed after lazily stumbling into her pajamas and then curled up beneath the covers. Her Pokemon situated themselves around and atop her, soon falling asleep with quiet snores.

Cassidy decided to stay awake a bit longer and talk to Mr. Briney. She learned about how he was a sea captain.. or something and that his Wingull was called Peeko. Twayblade and Serena stayed up, listening to to the conversation.
After a while, Cas realised that she was yawning and went to get changed. Ditrysia and Shiruva continued sleeping alongside Tenor. Once Cassy was settles, she unzipped her sleeping bag so that it acted as a quilt and curled up on the sofa so that Mr. Briney could use his own bed.
Twayblade curled up next to her and Serena picked a space on the rug in the living room to sleep.
Cassidy and her Pokemon were soon snoozing quietly.

Celeste awoke bright and early for the first time in about four years. She yawned and then proceeded to get herself dressed and ready for the day, rubbing her eyes sleepily all the while. Once she had finished this process, she gently prodded her Pokemon awake with a murmur of "Get up."

After the lengthy procedure that was waking up four Pokemon that were not morning people, Celeste trotted over to the couch that Cassidy was asleep on. A mischievous grin spread across her face as she walked over to her bag and removed something. She placed the something by Cassidy's ear and let it rip. 'It' was a toy of Celeste's that played a horribly loud and horribly long and just plain horrible song about buying pikachu puffs.

Tenor watched with beady black eyes as Celeste crept over to Cassidy and put the weird looking toy next to he ear. Cassidy leaped up, knocking Twayblade away from where she was sleeping. She immediately apologised before throwing the toy right at Celeste.
"Jesus Christ that thing is scary!" she exclaimed, leaping up off of the sofa.

Twayblade stepped off the couch and sat next to Serena. She felt energized after her long sleep, despite that rude awakening. Cassidy was much the same. The trainer quickly went upstairs to get changed in the bathroom and returned not long after. It wasn't long before she spotted a note on the coffee table in the living room. On top of the note were some keys.

Please lock up when you leave. Me and Peeko went to Rustboro. I'm guessing I'll either meet you there or encounter you on the way home.

"Okay then...." she blinked.

Celeste tried to not let her thoughts wander to the fact that they made horror movies out of this kind of stuff but it didn't work well. Creepy cottage in the woods.. two girls all alone.. creepy old man.. She settled on gathering her things in a rushed manner and hurriedly shoving Cassidy and all nine of their Pokemon out the door.

At about the half way point to Rustboro, Celeste's stomach grumbled loudly. And so, the great whining session of 2012 began. Celeste's whining and moaning made all of her Pokemon moan and whine about how she needed to be quiet. (Or in Doro's case, moan about hunger along with her.)

And then they reached the forest. Celeste's moaning stopped and all of the Pokemon gave a sigh of relief. Her eyes lit up and she began hyper-actively running around in a circle with gleeful yelps. "OOH A FOREST I'VE BEEN WANTING TO GO IN A FOREST SINCE THE BEGINNING LET'S GOOOO!!~"

Cassidy, luckily, had already gathered most of her stuff the night before. She had just needed to pack away her easy-to-fold sleeping bag and shove it into her main bag. She then returned everyone except for Twayblade and began wandering down the Route. She made sure to shove the keys into her bag after she locked the house, that way she could give to Mr. Briney when they next saw him.

The Treecko and her trainer seemed to find it rather easy to ignore Celeste's constant whining and engaged in their own... if one sided, conversation. It wasn't long until Cassidy realised that they were indeed about to enter a forest.

Cassidy raised an eyebrow at Celeste's behaviour. "Alrighty then..." she chuckled.
Cass headed straight into the forest, looking around. Wherever she gazed, it seemed there was a Pokemon. There were so many of them. Wurmple in the trees, Silcoon and Cascoon attached to the trunks, waiting for the right time to evolve. Occasionally even a Dustox or Beautifly would catch her eye.

"This place is incredible!" she grinned, "It's teeming with Pokemon!"
