| First topic message reminder :Basic Hoenn Map Cassidy woke up to the sound of her rather loud Taillow alarm. The clock was a plain pale blue other than the Taillow model situated on top of it. The alarm continued to play the recorded "Taillow! Taillow!" call until Cassy rolled over and turned it off, looking at the time as she did so. It was 6:30am and Cass was about to go back to sleep when she realised what the day was. She practically threw the quilt off herself as she leaped out of bed, stretching her arms. She went over to her window and threw open the curtains before opening the windows themselves to let in the fresh air. After taking a quick shower to freshen up, Cassidy went back into her room to get changed. Sifting through her drawers, she picked out a shirt that was white with orange stripes. To go with it, she picked out a pair of pale peach coloured three quarter length trousers and a pale blue coat. Once she was dressed, she brushed her dark red hair and dug underneath her bed for her bag. The bag was a simple, grey-blue shoulder bag but it was roomy and would likely hold all of what she would need to take with her. Once she had packed everything she was going to take with her, she put her shoes on, grabbed her dark blue scarf and left a note in the kitchen for her parents when they woke up. She headed out at 7:30. Cassidy didn't have to meet the Professor in his laboratory until about 10:00, so she spent the next few hours just outside of Littleroot Town, watching the world go by. She sat with her sketch book in her lap and her pencils and watercolours in one pocket of her bag. The route however, seemed to be deserted. There were no Pokemon to draw and she was so familiar with Route 101 now that she could draw every blade of grass without looking. After a long while of sitting silently Cas gathered her things with a sigh and headed back into Town. She wandered down the street on her way to her friend Celeste's house. Surely she would be up and about by now. It was nearly 9:30 after all. Only half an hour to go until they could meet their new Pokemon! - Cassidy:

| The Astonish hit at the last moment, as the two Pokemon collided. Dust was thrown up into the air following the Zigzagoon's speedy path. It gathered around the two Pokemon, obscuring them temporarily. Norman watched with bated breath.
Cassidy was stood up now, Twayblade doing the same only with her usual cool demeanour and crossed arms. She stood on the bench so that she could see clearly. Serena and Shiruva also watched on, Ditrysia fluttering nervously next to Cas.

| Halcyon lay on his back when the dust cleared. He winced and slowly flipped himself over, standing up on weak wobbly legs.
Celeste smiled in relief when she saw her Lotad stand, albeit shakily. She turned her gaze towards the fallen Zigzagoon, wondering if it too would get up. She had her next move already planned, just in case. |

| The Zigzagoon stood, but topped over again. He rolled over onto his back but then carried on rolling until he was on his paws. His own movements were a lot more sluggish now from the sheer amount of damage he had taken. "Headbutt one last time, Zigzagoon!"
The Zigzagoon once again began charging towards Celeste's Pokemon.
Cassidy remained standing, a tense atmosphere in the air until Norman shouted his next move. The Zigzagoon would go down with one more hit.... but it looked like Halcyon would too. This battle could go either way. Halcyon could win, Zigzagoon could win... or it was possible they could both lose.

| Celeste's fists were clenched tight in anxiety. "Alright, Halcyon! It's all or nothing! Nature Power!" She shouted her commands loud and clear.
Halcyon glowed with a faint green light before the yellow stars of a Swift attack once again burst forth towards the charging Zigzagoon. This hadn't stopped it earlier, but the Zigzagoon was now lower in health and couldn't simply shake off any damage it received.
Celeste anxiously leaned forwards, desperate to see the outcome. |

| The Zigzagoon stopped in it's tracks as the Swift injured it. It was propelled backwards once again but this time it didn't get up. It was knocked out. Norman returned the Zigzagoon with a smile, "You did well."
"One Pokemon down, one to go!" yelled Cassidy, all of her Pokemon cheering along, "You can do it!" Cas grinned, looking from her own badge in her one hand, back to the field.
Norman sent out his next Pokemon, A Tauros.

| Celeste fought down a grin. One should never get too cocky. She took this time to return Halcyon to his pokeball and send Doro out onto the field. "Alright, Norman. I think I'll give you the first move this go around." She grinned devilishly.
Doro calmly walked up to his usual spot several feet in front of Celeste. He was a bit intimidated by his large opponent, but knew that he had the element of flexibility in this battle. He was small and could maneuver much more easily around the larger Pokemon than the Tauros could maneuver around him. |

| "If you're sure," smirked Norman, "Tauros use Rage!"
The Tauros nodded and flicked it's three tails before it charged towards the Mudkip. It's hooves clattered on the floor of the gym as it ran, it's speed not hindered by it's large size.
Cassidy got her Pokedex out. Tauros, a Wild Bull Pokémon. When whipping itself with its three tails, its Tackle is a powerful destructive force. Due to its gentleness, it will never attack unless something harms them.
"Well.. I guess unless it belongs to a trainer then," she shrugged

| "Alright Doro! Cool him down with a Water gun!" Celeste instructed the Mudkip with passion, yet remained utterly calm.
Doro stood his ground until the Tauros was in range. He leaped into the air and shot a spurt of water at the Tauros' head. Whilst in mid-air, he angled himself to land slightly right of where he had started. Once landed, he narrowed his eyes and kept himself ready to dash at a moments notice.
Celeste gave a small approving nod. On the inside, she was jumping up and down and screeching happily. She had been trying to work with Doro to perfect these kind of techniques for ages! |

| Norman stood there as the Water Gun hit Tauros. Tauros just kept on charging. It switched it's direction so that it was once again heading towards Doro, it's hooves continuing to clatter across the ground.
Cassidy watched the Tauros. It really was unnaturally speedy for it's much larger size, though that size just seemed to emanate power.

| Celeste grimaced. She decided to try a different approach. "Doro, be careful of its hooves and dash underneath of it! Then hit it with a Mud Slap attack." She knew this was risky at best, but this appeared to be the most cunning solution that presented itself.
Doro made a noise of acknowledgement and locked his gaze on the Tauros' legs. He inhaled and dashed towards the Pokemon that was coming like a tank. Being spectacularly careful to avoid its hooves, Doro attempted to pop out behind the normal type and shoot it in the back with a carefully aimed Mud Slap attack. |

| The Tauros was hit with the Mud-Slap attack but seemed not to acknowledge it. If anything it made it more determined. It immediately circled around and began charging at Doro once more. It lowered it's horns to the small Mudkip, who was now way to close to have much chance of dodging, despite his small size. | |

| Celeste winced, knowing that the Mudkip would have no chance at escape. She formulated her next plan of attack, hoping that Doro could withstand the damage.
Doro squeezed his eyes shut and braced for impact. When he was hit, he flew backwards, squealing. He landed with a dull thump and was dazed for several seconds. Blinking furiously, he struggled back up.
"Good job Doro! Now, Mirror Coat!"
The determined little Mudkip dashed forwards. |

| The Rage attack would have done a lot of extra damage because of Doro's Water Gun and Mud-Slap attacks. For every attack that Tauros took whilst in 'Rage mode' his attack would rise.
With the Rage attack now over, Norman shouted his next command, "Scary Face!"
Mirror Coat being a decreased priority move, Scary Face would go first, causing the Mirror Coat to fail as there was no damage for the move to mirror. Scary Face also worked on lowering Doro's speed.

| Celeste frowned grumpily. Clearly Mirror Coat wasn't going to work at all. She called out her next attack, abandoning the Mirror Coat angle completely. "Doro, use Mud Slap!"
The Mudkip felt peculiarly heavier due to the Scary Face and was thus slower. He ran up to the Tauros and stopped several feet away. He shot off a glob of mud at the normal type and kept his exits open, should the Pokemon charge. |

| The Tauros blinked and shook the mud off of it's face. It looked quite disgusted by the attack. Norman told it to retaliate with Icy Wind, and it did so, the cold winds freezing the air particles and bringing a small amount of snow with it. | |
