A Hoenn Adventure

Cassidy woke up to the sound of her rather loud Taillow alarm. The clock was a plain pale blue other than the Taillow model situated on top of it. The alarm continued to play the recorded "Taillow! Taillow!" call until Cassy rolled over and turned it off, looking at the time as she did so.
It was 6:30am and Cass was about to go back to sleep when she realised what the day was. She practically threw the quilt off herself as she leaped out of bed, stretching her arms. She went over to her window and threw open the curtains before opening the windows themselves to let in the fresh air.

After taking a quick shower to freshen up, Cassidy went back into her room to get changed. Sifting through her drawers, she picked out a shirt that was white with orange stripes. To go with it, she picked out a pair of pale peach coloured three quarter length trousers and a pale blue coat. Once she was dressed, she brushed her dark red hair and dug underneath her bed for her bag.
The bag was a simple, grey-blue shoulder bag but it was roomy and would likely hold all of what she would need to take with her.

Once she had packed everything she was going to take with her, she put her shoes on, grabbed her dark blue scarf and left a note in the kitchen for her parents when they woke up. She headed out at 7:30.

Cassidy didn't have to meet the Professor in his laboratory until about 10:00, so she spent the next few hours just outside of Littleroot Town, watching the world go by. She sat with her sketch book in her lap and her pencils and watercolours in one pocket of her bag. The route however, seemed to be deserted. There were no Pokemon to draw and she was so familiar with Route 101 now that she could draw every blade of grass without looking.

After a long while of sitting silently Cas gathered her things with a sigh and headed back into Town. She wandered down the street on her way to her friend Celeste's house. Surely she would be up and about by now. It was nearly 9:30 after all. Only half an hour to go until they could meet their new Pokemon!

A few repetitive battles later against some Poochyena and Zigzagoon, and Twayblade had gained a few more levels. Cassidy decided to let Twayblade rest and train both of her Wurmple. She gave the Treecko another of the treats from the box she had bought, making up for the one that she had dropped earlier when Celeste had been dragging her to Route 103.

Finding an open stretch of water, Cas encountered two Surskit. She looked at them, thinking them to be kind of cute. By scanning them her Pokedex though, she knew that Celeste would most likely want one as they were water type. Some well aimed String Shots and Poison Stings later and both Surskit were defeated.

Cassidy looked around. She could have sworn by now that she had encountered every Pokemon on this Route, for there seemed to be nothing new. Everything she noticed, she had already seen before.

Ace had led her to a patch of grass which contained a small blue Pokemon with a green leaf-like attachment on its back. After scanning it with her Pokedex, Celeste discovered that it was called a Lotad and it's moves were Growl, Astonish, and Synthesis.

"Ace! Water gun!" The Wingull dove in and squirted the Lotad. The Lotad wiggled about and danced off to the right after being hit by the water. It fired back an astonish attack and attempted to escape. "Quick! Water gun once more! Stop it from leaving!" Ace swooped in and squirted the Lotad. Now pushed onto its back, the Lotad squirmed about, flailing his legs around in the air.

Celeste threw a ball and grinned as it clicked shut. At this time, Ace was ambushed by a oddly adorable Pokemon. Falling to the ground in exhaustion, Ace was down for the count after the Bug Bite attack.

"Alright, Doro! Your turn! Tackle! Be careful not to make it faint!"

All of a sudden, Cassidy spotted a flash of white in the undergrowth. That looked interesting. "Shiru, Ditri, String Shot!"

The two Wurmple teamed up and stopped the white flash in it's tracks. Cassidy went over to investigate, scanning it with the Pokedex.
Ralts, the Feeling Pokémon. Ralts is the pre-evolved form of Kirlia. It can use the horns on its head to read human emotions. Ralts rarely shows itself to humans, but may occasionally approach when it senses positive or happy feelings.

The Pokedex also told her its moves were Shadow Sneak and Growl.

"Alright then. Ditri, Poison Sting!"
The red Wurmple nodded and opened her mouth, shooting multiple purple barbs at the Ralts.
"Shiru! Tackle!"
The purple Wurmple shot towards the Ralts, using Tackle. Before the Ralts had a chance to retaliate, Cassidy threw a Pokeball. Both Wurmple looked back at Cas in confusion having not expected this. Cassy had decided that being a Psychic type, the Ralts might come in handy in later battles.

Celeste looked over the new Pokemon with interest. It had a small blue body with four long thin legs. On it's head was a yellow 'cap' of some sort. She pulled out her Pokedex.

Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokemon. Surskit gather on puddles after evening downpours, gliding across the surface of water as if sliding. It secretes honey with a sweet aroma from its head. Some Pokemon are attracted to this honey.

The Pokedex listed the moves Bubble and Bug bite. Celeste grinned. It was another water type! Score! She continued in her efforts to capture the new Pokemon. The Surskit had easily dodged Doro's attacks, being a speedy Pokemon. "Alright Doro. I want you to fake it out. Pretend you're going one way and then go the other." Celeste's orders were growing more and more strategic.

Doro nodded and did as he was told. He swerved in one direction and as the Surskit made to avoid him, swerved in the other and hit it head on with a tackle attack. As it was reeling backwards, Celeste hurled a Pokeball towards it, red beam encasing it quickly.

She held her breath and bit her lip, leaning forwards.

The Surskit popped out with a vengeance.

Cassidy on the other hand had been successful, the Ralts becoming the fourth member of her party.
"Another female Pokemon," laughed Cassidy, who seemed to have a whole team of girls. She let the Ralts out and she looked up at Cas. She could just see the Ralts' eyes underneath the green helmet.
"Aww! You're so adorable!" she grinned, "I think I'll name you Serena. Welcome to the team!"

Celeste pouted. "Again Doro! We can do it~" She cheered, placing one hand on her hip and the other pointing outwards.

The Surskit tried its best to avoid Doro, but this time the Mudkip was ready for its escape attempts. He tackled the Surskit, tumbling over top of each other. Bouncing off of the Bug/Water type, he dashed away to give Celeste a clear shot of the Surskit.

Celeste threw a second ball.

By now, the Surskit was so tired it didn't even try to escape. Giving in with an exhausted sigh, she settled into the capsule.

"Ooh the first girl on our team! She'll have a hard time dealing with all you boys!" Celeste grinned merrily.

Just then, one of the Wurmple next to her began to glow. Ditrysia to be exact. Shiruva watched as Ditrysia's form changed to a ball shape and the glow dissipated to reveal a cocoon like Pokemon.
Cassidy grinned and scanned her with the Pokedex.

Silcoon, the Cocoon Pokémon. Silcoon is the evolved form of Wurmple. Using its thread to attach itself to a tree branch, it waits to evolve to its next stage. When it grows thirsty, it drinks the dew that collects on its string.

Cas scooped up the Silcoon and cuddled her. "You evolved!" she grinned.
"Sil-coon!" she replied.

After the excitement was over and introductions were made, Cassidy returned everyone but Twayblade to their Pokeballs and headed over to find Celeste to tell her the news.

When Celeste reached Cassidy, she happily waved about her two new Pokeballs. "I caught new Pokemon!" She exclaimed with a bright grin. Lowering her arm, she let out the Surskit and the Lotad.

"What about you? Catch anything interesting?" It was then that Celeste realized she had yet to name her two new Pokemon.

"Hmm... I think you," She pointed to the Lotad, "will be Halcyon." She turned to the Surskit who was looking up at her with bright eyes dulled only by the drowsiness. "And you can be Deluge." Both Halcyon and Deluge appeared happy with their new titles and voiced those opinions. Celeste beamed happily and then turned back to Cassidy.

"I caught a Ralts!" she grinned, letting Serena out of the Pokeball.
"This is Serena.

"Oh and before I forget and surprise you next time I send her out...."
she let Ditrysia out of her Pokeball, the Silcoon emerging and landing at Cassidy's feet.
"Ditrysia evolved!" she grinned.

Celeste returned Cassidy's grin. "Awesome! Ace gained a level or two, but otherwise I think that's it." Celeste thought for any more updates. Coming up empty, she shrugged. Suddenly, a wicked and excited look came into her eyes. "C'mon then! Let's show Petalburg who's boss! Wreak some havoc!" With a wild grin, she dashed off, returning the tired Pokemon and the Wingull to their balls.

Still grinning wildly, Cassidy returned both Pokemon to their Pokeballs. She would train with Serena a bit later and figure out how her Shadow Sneak move worked.

They headed into Petalburg, and Cassidy went straight into the Pokemon centre and handed over all her Pokemon. They had worked hard and deserved a nice long rest and expert treatment.

"See you guys later!" smiled Cassidy before Nurse Joy took them away to be healed up.

Celeste decided to hand over all of her Pokemon, despite the little damage Doro received. She waved at them and laughed quietly when they waved back.

"So, what now? Get a room and play more board games," She grinned wildly at this, "Or what?"

She wondered what sights were around town and whether it was worth it to explore. "Hrmm.. We should get into some Pokemon battles soon, Cas. We're going to run out of money soon. That is, if we keep our spending habits up." She nudged Cassidy playfully. "I know you love your Pikachu crunchies but we do need actual supplies."

Cassidy laughed, "They're your Pikachu crunchies. Anyhow, if we win these gym challenges we should get a ton of money."

Cas sat down on one of the not so comfortable waiting chairs that were provided in the Pokemon centre. Most of them were empty so she turned and lay across a few of them. "I could just lounge here for a while..."

"If you don't mind me, I'm gonna sleep on this bench over here. Might as well complete the hobo experience." Celeste grinned. "And by the way, those Pikachu Crunchies are great! Don't diss the Crunchies!" Celeste curled up on the bench, using her arm as a pillow. "Nighty night, Cas~" She yawned and promptly dozed off.

"You never let me have any!" she protested. She too curled up on the hobo benches though she lay in thought. She thought about those future contest appeals. She was pretty good at battling, but she had yet to try and devise any appeal strategies. She wondered what she could do with the simple moves that her Pokemon know now.
