A Hoenn Adventure

Cassidy woke up to the sound of her rather loud Taillow alarm. The clock was a plain pale blue other than the Taillow model situated on top of it. The alarm continued to play the recorded "Taillow! Taillow!" call until Cassy rolled over and turned it off, looking at the time as she did so.
It was 6:30am and Cass was about to go back to sleep when she realised what the day was. She practically threw the quilt off herself as she leaped out of bed, stretching her arms. She went over to her window and threw open the curtains before opening the windows themselves to let in the fresh air.

After taking a quick shower to freshen up, Cassidy went back into her room to get changed. Sifting through her drawers, she picked out a shirt that was white with orange stripes. To go with it, she picked out a pair of pale peach coloured three quarter length trousers and a pale blue coat. Once she was dressed, she brushed her dark red hair and dug underneath her bed for her bag.
The bag was a simple, grey-blue shoulder bag but it was roomy and would likely hold all of what she would need to take with her.

Once she had packed everything she was going to take with her, she put her shoes on, grabbed her dark blue scarf and left a note in the kitchen for her parents when they woke up. She headed out at 7:30.

Cassidy didn't have to meet the Professor in his laboratory until about 10:00, so she spent the next few hours just outside of Littleroot Town, watching the world go by. She sat with her sketch book in her lap and her pencils and watercolours in one pocket of her bag. The route however, seemed to be deserted. There were no Pokemon to draw and she was so familiar with Route 101 now that she could draw every blade of grass without looking.

After a long while of sitting silently Cas gathered her things with a sigh and headed back into Town. She wandered down the street on her way to her friend Celeste's house. Surely she would be up and about by now. It was nearly 9:30 after all. Only half an hour to go until they could meet their new Pokemon!

Celeste was learning quickly why it had such a huge effect on people when anything bad happened to their Pokemon. Pokemon weren't mere pets. No, Pokemon were friends and partners, deserving of all the love and attention that they received. Celeste gathered Doro up in her arms with a bright smile and cuddled him merrily. "How are you then?"

Doro let out a happy noise. "Kiip! (Good!)"

Celeste laughed as Doro seemed to respond to her question. She then yawned. Apparently the random hyper-ness from the idea of playing Twister had now passed. "Sleeep tiiiimmeee."

Cassidy had stopped hugging both Twayblade and Ditrysia and they were now perched on her shoulder and head respectively. She grinned and turned to Celeste.
"I think it would be beneficial if we all went to bed now then," she replied, stifling a yawn of her own whilst she spoke.

Celeste was already trudging up the stairs as Cassidy finished her statement. "Mmpf." She muttered, cradling the already sleeping Doro in her arms.

When she reached the room, she clumsily unlocked the door and then promptly fell face first on her bed. Doro did likewise after being jolted awake by Celeste's speedy descent. "I don't even care that I'm not wearing pajamas." She muttered, voice muffled by the pillow she was currently shoving her face into.

Cassidy wandered up the stairs and into their room. She got changed into her bright orange pyjamas and got into bed. Twayblade and Ditrysia curled up on the end of the bed, sleeping next to each other and benefiting from each other's warmth.

The next morning, Cassidy was already up, showered and dressed at 5:55. She had always been an early riser and it was lucky that Twayblade was too. When Cas awoke, Twayblade was sat outside on the railing of the balcony, watching the sun rise.

At 6:00, Cassidy went downstairs with her Pokemon to see what training she could squeeze in before they left the Pokemon Centre. She left Celeste sleeping, not wanting to wake her up after how tired she had been the evening before. However she did leave a note stuck on the door saying where they were in case Celeste needed to find them.

"Alright then Ditrysia," she smiled, "Use String Shot!"
The Wurmple did as she was asked and used String Shot. After a half hour of practising she had finally gotten the aim completely right and had hit Twayblade straight on whilst she was moving.
Twayblade retaliated to the move by dashing towards the Wurmple and attempting to use Pound. She had been battling using her own intelligence to help Ditrysia get stronger.
"Stop her Ditri!"

The Wurmple used String Shot again, this time aiming for Twayblade's feet. The Treecko's feet became covered in string to such an extent that she had to stop otherwise she would have toppled over.
Twayblade changed tactics and used Absorb, a move she had learned only ten minutes earlier. This was her second attempt, but she was doing well so far. A pale green energy seemed to come from the Treecko's paw before heading straight for Ditrysia. The Wurmple had no idea what to do and panicked, not listening to Cassidy's command to dodge.

Twayblade recognized what was happening and stopped the attack, the energy dissipating into the air. Cassidy walked over to Ditrysia and picked her up, calming her with a few kind words.
"You did great," she smiled, "You're stronger now. Twayblade too. You should be proud."

The Wurmple smiled and snuggled up to Cassidy's orange and white striped shirt.

Celeste awoke the next morning with a Mudkip on her face. "Doro." She growled, her voice a warning tone but showing an underlying tone of amusement.

Doro shuffled off of Celeste's face with a few apologetic looks. "Kiip! Mud Mudkip! (Good morning Celeste~)"

Celeste quickly got dressed and was about to head outside when she found Cassidy's note. With a nod, she headed to where her friend was training.

"Cas!" Celeste was waving as she walked out of the Pokecenter and into the backyard of the building.

"I wanna do some training too, c'mon! Doro against either of yours."

Cassidy turned at the sound of her name, Ditrysia still in her arms.
"Alright then!" she smiled at her friend's next statement. She looked to the Wurmple in her arms.
"You want to try?" she asked. The Wurmple took a second before nodding. She wanted to make up for panicking and freezing in the face of the Absorb attack a few moments ago.

"Okay then. I'm going to be using Ditrysia."

She place the Wurmple back on the ground where she moved forward a few paces so that there was room enough for her to move around if she needed to step backwards to avoid something.

"Your move first!" grinned Cassidy. She had confidence in her Pokemon.

Celeste grinned and Doro dashed up in front of his trainer. "Alright, Doro. Let's show 'em what we got! Tackle!"

Doro dashed forwards, aiming himself at the Wurmple. However, as he went to launch himself towards Ditrysia, it was not a tackle attack but a Mud Slap attack that occurred.

Celeste appeared perplexed by this change of events. With a shrug she decided to roll with it.

"Use String Shot!" yelled Cassidy, reacting quickly to the new move. The white thread got tangled with the mud, slowing it enough that Ditrysia found it easy to get out of the way.

"Now Tackle!"
The Wurmple began speeding towards the Mudkip as she attempted to Tackle Doro.

Doro squealed and stumbled to the side, Distrysia narrowly missing him.

"Tackle!" Celeste called out a counter attack. Doro nodded and hurled himself towards the now stationary Wurmple.

A few seconds before Doro hit Ditrysia, Cassidy yelled, "Poison Sting!"

In a way much like what had happened with Doro's battle with Bob, Ditrysia used the move to counter the Mudkip's Tackle. However, she didn't use the horn on her head, instead she used the two spikes on her rear, maximising her chances of hitting as well as increasing the chances of poisoning.

Doro was struck head on with the two needles. He stumbled backwards and winced, the poison setting in.

Celeste frowned. "It's alright Doro, keep it up! Mirror Coat!" She endeavored to enthuse her Mudkip with a peppy attitude, so she grinned brightly.

Doro dashed around Ditrysia and used his attack, hoping to land a secure hit this time around.

"Stop him Ditri!"
The Wurmple quickly span around and used String Shot. She aimed directly for the Mudkip's legs in an attempt to disable his movement. After aiming for his legs, Ditrysia shot another String shot, this time aiming for Doro's face. If he couldn't see, he couldn't aim.

Doro flailed a bit in his new wrappings. He flopped over, completely stuck.

Celeste groaned. "Alright, Cas. I don't think Doro is gonna get back up on his own. Nice battle!" Celeste grinned at Cassidy and walked over to her still flailing starter Pokemon. She began attempting to rip the webs away. This only got both Doro and Celeste stuck in the gooey strings.

Cassidy laughed. Despite what some people thought, String Shot was one hell of a useful move.
"I think if that Mirror Coat had hit, we'd have been goners though," she replied, walking over to Ditrysia and scooping her up.
"You did great Ditri!" she grinned before helping Doro and Celeste with the sticky string.

Once they were both free she turned to Celeste, "You should probably ask Nurse Joy to check Doro for poison before it get's too bad."

Celeste nodded. "Good idea. C'mon Doro!" Celeste waved to Cassidy and her two Pokemon as she walked back into the building.

Doro danced around Celeste's feet, although a bit weakly as the poison started taking its toll.

After checking in with Nurse Joy and getting Doro healed again, Celeste walked back out with Doro on his now signature spot on his trainer's head. "Alright! Let's explore the city!"
