In all of Time and Space - Unova RP

Claudia wandered out of the house with a cheerful, "Byee!" to her mother and a quick wave. She carried with her a pale blue bag which no doubt stored some impressive amount of possessions in it. Claudia's long red hair hung loose, flowing out behind her as she skipped down the road of Nuvema Town and headed towards Professor Juniper's laboratory.
Today was the day she was going to start her Pokemon journey. Today was the day where she would finally get a Pokemon of her own!
Grinning to herself, she once again went through the three Pokemon that most new trainers in Unova chose from when they started their journeys.

There was Snivy, the grass type. Lithe, nimble and pretty cool by starter standards.
Secondly there was Tepig, the fire type. Tepig was kinda cute in Claudia's opinion, but having seen some of it's evolutions, she was less than keen to choose one. A previous run in with a trainer's angry Emboar had put her off of them and to be honest she still found it hard to be around them.
Last but not least, there was Oshawott, the water type. The first time Claudia had seen an Oshawott she had literally squealed at how adorable it looked. She couldn't believe it actually evolved into such a strong looking Pokemon.

Claudia was snapped from her thoughts when she realized that she had reached the laboratory. Gently, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

"Roggenrola use Headbutt!"
The boy's command came quickly. With both Ichorous and Laurel focused on the PUrrloin, the small rock type had an opening to attack. However, Claudia had been ready for this. She had watched the Mantle Pokemon even whilst Laurel had been using Tackle.

"Backflip!"

As the Trump Card collided with the Purrloin, Laurel used her small thin paws to propel herself upwards before angling her tail to balance her weight an allow her to flip backwards to escape the shower of colour from the Oshawott's move.

"Magical Leaf!"

The Snivy landed facing the wrong way, but a swift turning movement allowed her to be ready to attack the Rock type as he charged towards her. She summoned the leaves and they were propelled towards the Roggenrola with only the power of Laurel's mind. The colourful auras around the leaves gave them an eye catching appearance, something that might be useful in Striaton City.

Gabriel took a brief moment to admire the Magical Leaf before commencing. "Okay, Ichorous! Water gun!"

Ichorous aimed a jet of water at the two Pokemon who had collided. He had already sidestepped the leaves and noticed that Laurel appeared to be making an effort to steer them away from him. He thanked her internally before surveying the results of his attacks.

The Roggenrola couldn't do much to help itself. With damage from two super-effective moves and the type advantage of both Ichorous and Laurel, it was easily knocked out with the Magical Leaf. The Purrloin followed shortly afterward, being knocked out by the Oshawott's Water Gun.

The crowd stood, taken aback by the co-ordination of these trainers. It would have been more impressive to them if they had known however, that it was one of their first battles overall and not just their first as a team.

Claudia grinned to Laurel and Celandine cheered for her Snivy friend, despite feeling rather uncomfortable about the crowd behind her. Bending down, both Laurel and Celandine climbed up onto Claudia's shoulders and she grinned, scratching underneath the Patrat's chin and giving Laurel an approving nod.
"Nice work Laurel!" she smiled before turning to Gabriel and looking over to his Oshawott, "You too Ichorous!"

Ichorous narrowed his eyes at Claudia for a moment before smiling and nodding. "Osha. Wooottt! (Well of course. It's me we're talking about here!)" He crossed his arms and trotted over to Gabriel, glaring at him until he dropped his backpack. He promptly crawled into it and curled up to nap off the battle.

Gabriel gave Ichorous a quick noogie with a snicker before swinging the backpack back onto his back (omfg I said back so many times). He smiled brightly at the crowd before gathering Tyson up in his arms (And receiving a sloppy kiss of congratulations from him) and turning to Claudia. "So, onward to bigger and better things?" he grinned crookedly. "That is, where to?"

"Perhaps we can train somewhere out of town?" she wondered. Laurel had just turned her head away from Ichorous, obviously ignoring him due to the ego fueled comment about himself. Claudia glanced around at the majority of the crowd which was still present. Despite not particularly minding being the center of attention, it made her feel nervous to have so many eyes judging her first tag battle with Gabriel.

"I say we head towards Route 2... We can probably stop for training along the way and still get to Sriaton in time for the contest." Claudia paused for a moment to think things through.
"Yea.. if we get there in the evening in two days time, we should be able to register and prepare ourselves for the contest."
She grinned. To her the plan seemed foolproof.

"Right then. We hitting the road again?"

Plot comment shizz:

Gabriel thought a moment, calculating the time to get to Striaton in his head. After a bit he nodded, grin returning to his face. "Alright! Sounds great!" Tyson let out a yelp of agreement. Ichorous thrashed in Gabriel's bag. "OSHAAA! OSH! (SHUT IT YOU HOUND!)"

Gabriel coughed in the awkward silence that followed this comment. He decided to take the initiative and head for Route 2. "Onward!"

Claudia, getting the gist of what Ichorous had angrily yelled, couldn't help but chuckle. It seemed that the Oshawott didn't particularly get along with Tyson and Claudia noted this for later reference.

She followed Gabriel towards Route two, leaving the last of the crowd to dissipate. The green-haired boy had told them that his name was N, before promptly disappearing. His last comment had been something along the lines of, "I'm sure we'll meet again."

Wandering through Accumula Town on their way towards route two, Claudia couldn't help but think what combinations they could try. She wondered whether she should talk to Gabe about it. Deciding that this would be a pretty good way to break the again, awkward silence between them, she struck up the conversation.
"So, do you have any ideas when it comes to appeals or battle combinations?" she asked her contest partner.
Laurel's curiosity piqued and she immediately zoned in on the conversation.

By now, Ichorous had given up on sleeping (after hearing Tyson's numerous barks and yelps he realized that he'd never get to sleep) and was now listening in to the conversation.

Gabriel hummed for a moment. He compared movesets with Claudia and then spoke. "Well, Tyson has a really nice Fire Fang move that I was thinking might work with Magical Leaf...For Ichorous, I was thinking that he could use Trump Card and we could have Celandine hit them with her Iron Tail." He wasn't really sure how either of them would actually play out but he figured it was a good start.

Ichorous settled back down into the bag, musing over Gabriel's ideas whilst still listening for Claudia's input. He could practically hear the gears in Tyson's head slowly ridding themselves of cobwebs as they finally started turning.

"I was actually thinking the same about Ichorous' Trump Card and Celandine's Iron Tail. I figured with the brightness and variety of colour Ichorous' move has, hitting it like that will have to do something impressive."
She chuckled and then thought about the battle rounds.
"Well appeals are things we can develop pretty easily, but we'll need to work out some moves that'll work inside a battle and not just as a standalone..."

She paused for a moment, trying to think.
"I still have that defensive move with Magical Leaf that could come in handy.... perhaps we could try and develop something similar for Ichorous? I have an idea.. but I don't quite know how to describe it..."

She frowned, hoping that she could somehow convey this into words... perhaps it would just be easier to try it out later.

Gabriel's interest was aroused. He turned his head so that he was looking at Claudia as he walked. "Oh? I'd love to hear it~" He grinned lopsidedly. Ichorous's ears perked up. The topic was him! Of course he was going to listen!

By now they had reached the mouth of Route 2. To their left was a rather rocky area which Gabriel eyed with mild interest. In front and to the right was greenery as far as the eye could see. It was beautiful really, and clearly a place where Pokemon loved to play judging by the Audino and Purrloin scampering around. Gabriel allowed a serene smile to fall over his face. Boy was he a sucker for nature.

"Well..." she began, trying to organise her thoughts, "It's not that great but I think it would work well against fire types. If Ichorous throws his Scalchop in the air and then hits it with his Water Gun, it should repel the water back down, surrounding him with an almost watery shield. I thought.. if need be, we could combine it with the Magical Leaf-shield to create a strong, fire repellent defense."
Claudia tried using various hand movements as she described the move. Laurel looked intrigued, wondering if it could work. The Magical Leaf-shield was already a good asset in itself, if you could make it fireproof it would be even better.

Claudia too loved nature and after explaining her idea to Gabriel, looked around. There were a variety of Pokemon here, some the same as the previous route. She made a mental note to sit down later and sketch some of them in her book.

Gabriel hummed before grinning and nodding. "That sounds like it'd work amazingly! It'd probably get some great points too.." He fell back into silence, brain busy at work imagining contest appeals and combination moves as well as singular attacks. He resumed walking, ignoring the rocky area to the left and continuing forwards into the brightly lit, forest-y area. Of course, with his brain so busy contemplating, Gabe totally forgot to look where he was going.

This is how Gabriel ran into yet another obstacle. This time it happened to be a tree.

"Awesome!" she grinned, happy that Gabriel liked her technique idea. Claudia then got back to work, trying to come up with some solo techniques for Celandine... and perhaps a few more for Laurel. She was also walking absentmindedly, focusing on her thoughts and mentally tossing out ideas that could never hope to work. She heard a crash and turned around to see that Gabe had walked straight into a large tree. She giggled before walking over.

"You okay?" she asked, tilting her head out of habit as she did so.

"Just Dandy." Gabriel growled into the tree. He then removed his face from the trunk and picked Tyson back off the ground. Needless to say, Tyson wasn't very happy about having his face slammed into a tree either. "Pup! Lilli! (Owch! That was mean!)" Gabriel glared at him. "Yes Tyson, my whole plan was to slam us into a tree." He then began having an argument that was vaguely one-sided seeing as Gabriel couldn't understand a word the Lillipup was barking at him.

Meanwhile, Ichorous was groaning from inside the bag, hands over his ears, trying to drown out the noise.

Amidst all this sound, a shuffle from inside the grass went unheard, as did the blue eyes boring into the group of travelers.

"Well then..." frowned Claudia, putting her hands on her hips as she watched Gabriel and Tyson fight. Her gaze seemed to give off a somehow disappointed aura as she rolled her eyes and turned away.

"I'm just gonna go and train further on into the forest. Catch ya later Gabe!"
With that she turned and wandered off, Laurel looking back and giving the two her own disapproving glare. Celandine however seemed not to mind the argument, despite her shyness.

A little further on, Claudia stopped and dumped her back down on a conveniently placed rock. Both Laurel and Celandine hopped off and stood next to the bag whilst Claudia stretched her arms.

"Okay you two!" grinned Claudia, looking at her Snivy in particular, "I say we work on Celandine's speed and agility and build up your resistance with your Magical Leaf move."
Laurel nodded before Claudia's gaze switched to look at the Patrat. Celandine nodded, though her nod was less confident that the Snivy's.

"Don't worry Celandine. It's only training. You shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes."
The Patrat gave another small nod before hopping down from the rock and preparing for training.
