In all of Time and Space - Unova RP

Claudia wandered out of the house with a cheerful, "Byee!" to her mother and a quick wave. She carried with her a pale blue bag which no doubt stored some impressive amount of possessions in it. Claudia's long red hair hung loose, flowing out behind her as she skipped down the road of Nuvema Town and headed towards Professor Juniper's laboratory.
Today was the day she was going to start her Pokemon journey. Today was the day where she would finally get a Pokemon of her own!
Grinning to herself, she once again went through the three Pokemon that most new trainers in Unova chose from when they started their journeys.

There was Snivy, the grass type. Lithe, nimble and pretty cool by starter standards.
Secondly there was Tepig, the fire type. Tepig was kinda cute in Claudia's opinion, but having seen some of it's evolutions, she was less than keen to choose one. A previous run in with a trainer's angry Emboar had put her off of them and to be honest she still found it hard to be around them.
Last but not least, there was Oshawott, the water type. The first time Claudia had seen an Oshawott she had literally squealed at how adorable it looked. She couldn't believe it actually evolved into such a strong looking Pokemon.

Claudia was snapped from her thoughts when she realized that she had reached the laboratory. Gently, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

A much louder crash is what stopped the arguing. Gabriel paused mid-sentence, turning to where the noise had emitted from. Tyson did likewise, tilting his head and perking his ears. Even Ichorous, lazy as he was, popped out from inside the backpack.

There, on the ground in the middle of the clearing, was a pink and cream Pokemon. Gabriel scanned it with his Pokedex.

Audino, the Hearing Pokemon. It touches others with the feelers on its ears, using the sound of their heartbeats to tell how they are feeling.

Gabe's eyebrows shot up to his hairline. "That's some intense hearing." He muttered, looking up from the device to observe the Audino. It appeared to have been sitting in the tree and crawled out a little too far on a branch that was a little too weak.

Suddenly, the Pokemon shot up. It approached Gabriel with wide, adoring eyes. "Auuudi! (Hello!)"

Gabe's eyebrows now rose impossibly higher. "Uh.. Hello?" The Audino cheered happily and grasped his hand, dragging him down a path. He let out a noise of surprise but allowed himself to be pulled along, dropping Tyson and leaving him to chase after them.

Meanwhile, Claudia was getting on well with her training.

"Alrighty Celandine, use Iron Tail to try and break Laurel's shield. Make sure your keep your tail flexible though. It could give s the upper hand in a battle."

The Patrat nodded and watched as Laurel formed the ball-like shield out of the Magical Leaf move. Celandine dashed towards it, her tail glowing pale while before it hardened into grey and shiny iron. The Patrat leaped into the air and swung her tail around to hit the shield. The move was still stiff rather than flowing like Claudia wanted, but Celandine was slowly improving.

The leaves from the Magical Leaf were flung across the area, shooting towards one of the trees. There was a small squawk before something fell from inside of the tree. Blinking, Claudia cautiously wandered over to see what had happened.

After a minute or so of traveling, the Audino finally paused. It made a happy noise and pushed back a curtain of ivy, stepping back to show Gabriel the view.

Gabriel's eyes widened and his jaw dropped. It was beautiful. A small, sheltered grove with a minuscule pond that may as well have been a puddle. It was dappled with sunlight, giving it an overall fairy-tale appearance. He grinned and stepped into it, setting his bag down by the entrance.

The Audino seemed happy that the trainer enjoyed its paradise and expressed this happiness with a mischievous smile. It plopped itself into the pond, splashing water all over Gabe.

Gabriel pouted. "Two can play at that game!" He dove towards the pond, making to grab the Audino. It quickly zoomed out of the way, snickering as Gabriel splashed face first into the pond. He sat up, as the pond was not deep enough for him to be fully submerged, and made a face at the Pokemon. "Rude."

Before Claudia could get too close, the Pokemon that had fallen from the tree got to it's feet and began to glow. At first, Claudia thought it might be evolving, but there was a unique light that seemed to be emanating from the bird Pokemon before her. Laurel and Celandine wandered over as Claudia stood in awe at the move. It was so pretty! Something that was perfect for contests.

"Celandine! Use Tackle!" she ordered suddenly.
The Patrat blinked but then quickly leaped into action. She charged towards the bird Pokemon as the glowing subsided. Celandine managed to get a direct hit, throwing the Pokemon, which was now shown to be a Pidove, towards the tree it had fallen from. It collided with the tree trunk, but quickly got to it's feet and spread it's wings.

"Iron Tail!"
From her fairly close position, Celandine leaped into the air and flipped around, using Iron Tail. Claudia grinned. In the heat of the battle, it seemed that Celandine had also learned how to still be flexible and use the Iron Tail to her advantage. The Patrat curled her tail to cushion the blow and prevent it from injuring her own, formerly rigid tail.

The Pidove retaliated with Gust and Laurel thanked Arceus that she wasn't the one battling right now. The flying type move would have done some serious damage to the grass type.

Celandine was sucked up into the small twister of air, her small frame being blown upwards, however she overcame her timidness to dive down onto the Pidove, Biting at it's wing and sending it toppling towards the ground.

A sudden thought caused Claudia to dash back over to the rock. All of her Pokeballs were still there! She quickly dived for the pocket they were in grabbing one and throwing it towards the downed Pidove. The Tiny Pigeon Pokemon was sucked inside and Claudia waited with bated breath as the Pokeball moved from side to side and the Pokemon inside attempted to escape.

A long time passed, full of shenanigans and pranks from both the Audino and Gabe. Tyson joined in at some point, ruining his trainer's plans but looking too adorable and happy for Gabe to be angry at him. Ichorous had joined in with the Audino, seeming to enjoy his trainer's misfortune.

Gabriel leaned back against a tree, panting and drying off his hair from having Pidove eggs dropped on his head. He had jumped into the pond afterward. He stuck his tongue out at the three Pokemon before putting up his hands in an 'I surrender' sort of position. "Alright, alright. I give. You win!" Ichorous sat down beside of his trainer, chuckling, while Tyson plopped himself on Gabriel's lap. The Audino looked at him hopefully. Gabriel grinned and patted the ground on the side opposite to Ichorous. "Audi!~ (Yaay!~)" It sat down, snuggling against the trainer's side happily.

Gabriel thought for a moment. "So, Audino. What do you think about coming along with me on my journey?" He grinned down at the Pokemon.

The Audino's eyes lit up. It nodded furiously. "Audi! Audino! (Oh yes! Yes please!)" It was rather tired of the same old scenery and longed for excitement and adventure. What better way to see the world than to go off with a trainer?

"Alright!" Gabe grinned, holding out a Pokeball and lightly tapping the Audino on the head with it. The ball swallowed up the Pokemon with a light 'ding' before clicking shut almost immediately.

Gabriel let the Audino out again before scanning it with his Pokedex again. Now that he had captured it, the Pokedex would give him more information.

"Ah, so you're a guy huh? A bit girly for a guy don't you think-" Gabriel snickered before being cut off by a sharp blow to the head. "Well then! What do you think of the name Kobold? Manly enough for you?" He grinned. The Audino thought briefly before nodding. He quite liked the name Kobold. "Audi! (Okay!)"

Claudia waited for a moment before a small 'click' sound came from the Pokeball. She sighed in relief before grinning wildly, scooping Celandine into her arms and ruffling her fur.
"You were so great then!" she grinned, hugging the Patrat, "I knew you could do it!"
"Trat!" laughed Celandine, happy that she had made her trainer and friend proud.

Putting Celandine back on the ground, Claudia went over and picked up the Pokeball containing the Pidove. She moved back over to the rock, sitting on it before letting the Tiny Pigeon Pokemon out. It materialized on her lap and let out a soft pigeon call before tilting it's head, much like Claudia does when she asks questions.
Chuckling, Claudia scanned the Pidove with her Pokedex.

"Alrighty then... Female right?"
The Pidove nodded in reply.
"How about the name Copper?" she suggested, "It's a flexible metal that is a brownish colour, but is blue like the sky when mixed with sulphate! I think it'll suit more when you evolve... but it's still a nice name."

The Pidove seemed to make a sound almost like chuckling at Claudia's explanation of the name before nodding her approval.
"Dove, Pidove," she smiled. Claudia smiled in reply.
"Glad you like the name."

~~A few minutes later~~

"Alright Copper, nice and still. Just a little longer!" grinned Claudia, using her pencil to gauge the proportions of the Pidove. Celandine and Laurel were sat next to Copper, talking to her whilst Claudia turned back to her sketchbook to add the finishing touches to the picture. She had found it easy to sketch Celandine and Laurel as she had done it more than once yesterday, but Copper, being a new addition to the team, was proving more of a challenge.
With the sketch done, Claudia got to her feet.
"Awesome! Thankyou guys!" she laughed, despite the fact that none of her team so far were in fact male.

Claudia re-organised her bag, putting the sketchpad and pencils back before she slung it over her shoulder and turned to head back and find Gabriel. They needed to stop training long enough make some progress before it got dark and find a nice place to camp. She returned Celandine and Laurel to their Pokeballs, deciding to spend some time with Copper whilst letting the other two rest from their earlier training.

Gabriel, now dry after sitting for a few minutes, stood and pushed past the curtain of ivy once more. "Welp. I suppose we should've trained..." He made a humming noise. "Oh well~" He grinned and skipped off. Kobold beamed, happy to have company, and followed, dashing after his new trainer. Ichorous and Tyson followed suit; Ichorous much more angrily and Tyson much more bouncily.

After a rather uneventful walk (if you count tripping over a pebble and falling on your face uneventful), Gabriel screeched to a halt. He just realized that he should probably go find Claudia. Instead of running around trying to find her, he decided to stay in one spot. And promptly screech his head off until she found him.

"CCCLLLAAAAUDDIIIIAAAAAH" He crowed. Tyson and Kobold joined in with loud cries of "PPPUUUPPP!" and "AUUUDII!" Ichorous scowled with his arms crossed, rolling his eyes at the three idiots.

Claudia didn't have to look very hard as Gabriel's voice could be heard a mile away. Sighing as a bunch of Patrat dashed away from the nearby undergrowth, she came up behind Gabriel and tapped him on the shoulder.
"No need to be so loud..."

The Pidove on her shoulder blinked at the male trainer, wondering how someone could be so loud without hurting their throat.
"Pidoove~" Copper made a passing comment about it and Claudia looked at her.
"I guess he's had a lot of practice..."

"CLAAAAAUU- Oh hey~" He grinned up at his friend. "Oh, nice Pidove! How cute!" He stood and ruffled the feathers on Copper's head whilst making cooing noises at her. "Meet my new best friend, Kobold." He nodded in a matter of fact way while pointing to the Audino. "Audi-noo~ (Hello~ Pleasure to meet you!~)"

Ichorous promptly decided that although Kobold was rather entertaining when pranking, he was a goody goody when it came to everything else. Tyson just barked happily. It was then that Ichorous thought what he had thought numerous times beforehand. That Pokemon probably possessed about .5 brain cells.

Claudia smiled and Copper seemed to appreciate the small compliment from Gabriel. She shook her feathers after Gabe stopped ruffling them in order to fix them back in their original positions. The Pidove would have spoken to Gabe's Pokemon, but she focused on preening her wings instead.

"You too," smiled Claudia, able to feel what the Audino had meant to say. She still didn't understand how this talent of hers worked, but it was a useful skill to have.

"So then, Gabe. How about we head onward? We need to find a good place to camp anyhow but we still have a lot of progress to make before dark if we're gonna reach Striaton City before the contest and still have some time to improve our techniques."

Gabe, after having frolicked through some tall grass for quite some time, was now face planted on the ground in a clearing. It was a rather sheltered area mostly surrounded by trees except for a small entrance spot.

"LET ME DIE NOW." He moaned. It appeared that Gabriel wasn't too fond of long treks in the woods. Or anywhere, for that matter.

"Osha! Oshawott! (Cut it out you baby!)" Ichorous scolded, glaring at Gabe. "Wott. Oshaaa! (Jeez. Grow up!)" Tyson looked at Ichorous in a disproving manner. Ichorous snapped at him, something about a lesser lifeform and not being allowed to look at him that way.

"..Audinoo.. (Eheh..)" Kobold was scratching his head in a manner that screamed 'What am I going to do with these idiots.' He patted the back of Gabriel's head before suggesting to Claudia that they camp out here. It was pretty obvious that Gabe wasn't going to move anymore than necessary.

Along the walk, Claudia had also brought Laurel back out and she was sitting in her usual position on Claudia's left shoulder. Copper on the other hand, had moved up onto Claudia's head. She sighed as Gabriel collapsed onto the ground. She really needed a way to make these long journeys more exciting and.... well plainly less boring.
Personally, she didn't mind the travelling. She enjoyed just spending time with her Pokemon and looking at all the nature in the hopes that something would inspire her for the Striaton Contest. Then again.. it was easier to spend time with your Pokemon when could actually understand them.

Laurel watched Ichorous and frowned. The Snivy didn't like the way that the Oshawott seemed to always be disappointed or disapproving of his trainer. He should be happy that he was picked back in the lab rather than being annoyed all the time. She also didn't like the way he seemed to pick on Tyson all the time. Whatever the Lillipup did, Ichorous wasn't happy with it.

Claudia nodded to the Audino.
"I was thinking the same. Okay! Tents out peeps!" she grinned, trying to brighten the mood with her cheerful tone.

Gabriel cheered and sat up. He pulled Tyson, Ichorous, and Kobold in for a quick familial noogie. One for each of them. Ichorous let out a tiny smile before pouting once more and wiggling to get out of Gabe's death grip. Tyson just laughed happily and Kobold seemed happy with being included. After what Gabriel deemed enough time, he let the three of them go and bounced off to go put up his tent.

After many tears and rolls around the clearing (on Gabe's part), Gabriel and Ichorous had finally put together their tent. Tyson and Kobold had been messing around and now were cheering and clapping as they made the appropriate 'oohs' and 'ahhs.' Gabe sat them all outside before dumping out all of his belongings from inside of his backpack. He made do with what he had and made a smaller than usual nest of clothing and blankets. He crawled back out of the tent to see what Claudia was doing and tilted his head when he found her. "Whatcha up tooo~?"

Claudia had managed to put up her tent rather quickly, especially with help from all three of her Pokemon. When Gabriel came over to her, she had a pile of dry wood in her arms that Copper and Celandine had collected whilst Claudia and Laurel had put up the tent.

"I got some firewood," she smiled in reply to Gabe, "Perhaps Tyson could use his Fire fang to light the end of one, then we can get the fire going?" she suggested, piling the wood up and using stones to make a circle around it to prevent the fire from spreading.

The inside of Claudia's tent wasn't as neat as one would expect. Her sleeping bag was set up nice and tidy, but there were sketchbooks and pencils all over the tent. Claudia didn't even know if she would be able to find them all later, though she hoped she would because she would hate to lose any of her art essentials.

"Oh I'm sure he would." Tyson barked happily from across the clearing. Gabriel shook his head with a chuckle. "He'd be happy to help." He turned and walked over to the Lillipup, picking him up and trotting back over to the pile of wood. He sat him down before sitting down himself. "Fire Fang!" Tyson opened his mouth wide, teeth flaming. He chomped down on the wood, digging in his teeth and staying there for a moment to give it time to ignite. After a moment he let go and stepped back.

Kobold and Ichorous padded over, talking animatedly. Tyson timidly joined in on the conversation and in a fit of kindness, Ichorous let him. Gabriel grinned down at the three of his Pokemon, finally learning to get along. Really Ichorous was just a sourpuss. "Awww look at little Ichorous, afraid to show his emotions~" He cooed, ruffling the fur on the Oshawott's head. This gained him a glare.
