In all of Time and Space - Unova RP

Claudia wandered out of the house with a cheerful, "Byee!" to her mother and a quick wave. She carried with her a pale blue bag which no doubt stored some impressive amount of possessions in it. Claudia's long red hair hung loose, flowing out behind her as she skipped down the road of Nuvema Town and headed towards Professor Juniper's laboratory.
Today was the day she was going to start her Pokemon journey. Today was the day where she would finally get a Pokemon of her own!
Grinning to herself, she once again went through the three Pokemon that most new trainers in Unova chose from when they started their journeys.

There was Snivy, the grass type. Lithe, nimble and pretty cool by starter standards.
Secondly there was Tepig, the fire type. Tepig was kinda cute in Claudia's opinion, but having seen some of it's evolutions, she was less than keen to choose one. A previous run in with a trainer's angry Emboar had put her off of them and to be honest she still found it hard to be around them.
Last but not least, there was Oshawott, the water type. The first time Claudia had seen an Oshawott she had literally squealed at how adorable it looked. She couldn't believe it actually evolved into such a strong looking Pokemon.

Claudia was snapped from her thoughts when she realized that she had reached the laboratory. Gently, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

Ichorous felt his attack power drop and made an alarmed noise.

Gabriel ignored the power drop and plowed on ahead. "Alright Ichorous, use Tackle!" He really hated being the first to go in for a physical attack seeing as it gave the opponent an opening, but someone had to. He had faith in the little Pokemon's abilities. And Ichorous sure wasn't lacking any faith in himself either.

The Oshawott dashed forwards, heading straight towards Laurel with a vengeance.

"Laurel, dodge and retaliate with the same move!"
The Snivy nodded and let out a loud cry before she swiftly moved out of the way. She made an effort to make it look graceful and un-rushed. Snivy were naturally lithe and swift Pokemon, but Laurel wanted to make an impression on her trainer. Laurel then dashed in with her own Tackle attack, her long streamlined body helping her to move faster.

Ichorous just barely kept from letting out a frustrated noise as his opponent escaped his attack. He did, however, squeak after she practically vanished. She ran far faster than he could!

Gabriel bit his lip after quickly realizing that speed was not on his side. He decided to go with his wild card. Trump card, that is.

"Ichorous! Use Trump card! Keep trying to dodge!"

The Oshawott weaved in and out in a zig zag line, hoping to become more difficult to catch. He fired off his Trump Card attack after turning around for a short moment. A bunch of randomly colored rectangles shot out of nowhere and headed for the snivy.

"Magical Leaf. Block the attack!"
"Snivy!" cried Laurel as multiple leaves with slight purple-blue hues materialised around her. She quickly positioned them around herself like a mini-shield of leaves and they blocked the rectangular attacks. When the Trump Card had exhausted it's power, the Magical-Leaf-shield broke back into it's individual leaves and they were all sent hurtling towards Ichorous.

"You'll have to do better than that, Gabriel!" taunted Claudia, well aware of her colossal type advantage as well as the speed advantage.

Well this taunting got Gabriel more fired up than ever. His eyes flashed and he as well as Ichorous got a bit more violent in their attacks. "Quickly, Trump Card then Tackle! Break through the leaves!" Ichorous squeaked out an affirmative before sending out more rectangular thingamabobs. (omfg spell check says that's a word.) He then charged forwards with a battle cry.

"Tackle!" called Claudia and the Snivy obliged. She raced towards the Oshawott once more as his Trump Card attack caused the Magical Leaves to be torn to pieces.
"Jump and spin! Catch Ichorous from behind" cried Claudia, wanting to try something. It was likely her Magical Leaf wouldn't always stand up to another's attack, and so she would need to be prepared to still make it look good. Laurel used her tail to help propel herself into the air. The Snivy span gracefully as she switched her jump so that it acted more like a backflip. The torn pieces of leaf fluttered down towards the ground around her. In one impressive movement, Laurel was positioned behind the Oshawott and once again dashed in for her Tackle attack.

At the sudden disappearance of the Snivy, Ichorous wasn't quite sure how to continue. His eyes dashed all around trying to find her before he whipped around and saw her headed straight for him.

"HIT THE DECK!" Gabriel shouted, laughing hysterically about half way through his command. Ichorous, rolling his eyes, obliged and leaped to the side, hit the ground, and rolled back onto his feet.

"Quick Trump Card again~"

Ichorous did as told, not really keen on showing off as Laurel seemed to be. He would show what was what at some point.

"Nice move!" grinned Claudia. Laurel had skidded to a halt and turned around at the same time, kicking up dust as she prepared for Claudia's next command.

"Magical Leaf again! Don't go in for a hit, defend and see what happens!"

"Vy!" nodded Laurel, quickly setting up another barrier of leaves around her. It was almost like a little shelter. It wasn't the most appealing thing to look at, but it was certainly an ingenuitive use for the move.

Gabriel did an exaggerated curtsy in response to Claudia's praise. With a crooked grin he went about contemplating how to tackle this new barrier. Welp.

"Tackle!" Gabe crowed, pulling straight from his first thoughts, impulsive as always.

Ichorous went straight at the leaves, hoping they didn't hurt too bad when they touched his skin. He squeezed his eyes shut as he dashed, kicking a trail of dust up behind him. Here went nothing!

"Snivy," blinked Laurel in an unconcerned voice as she heard the Oshawott coming towards her. When Ichorous got close enough, she changed the angle of the leaves so that the pointed tips were all facing outwards and would do more damage to the Oshawott as he powered through.

In the end, Laurel ended up being thrown a metre or so away, doing a quick roll to break her fall.
"Alrighty then," started Claudia, walking over to her Pokemon, who was dusting herself down.
"You're looking good when it comes to battling. I guess you could be my contest partner. Though I'd probably try not to risk such a move again 'cause Ichorous probably took a whole bunch of damage just then."

Laurel crossed her arms, happy that she had performed effectively and to the best of her current power and ability. The Snivy was proud of herself and she wasn't afraid to show it.

Gabriel gave a sheepish grin. "It was our first battle. I figure I may as well test out his limits." He winked at Ichorous before kneeling down and scratching behind his ears. He made cooing noises at the water type for which he was rewarded death glares from said Pokemon. Gabe snickered.

Standing up, he responded to the rest of Claudia's statement. "I think you'll suffice as well." With a lopsided grin he held out his hand for the second time that day. The only thought in his head in the short moment before he strode forward to offer a handshake was a fleeting one.

I wonder if she thinks I have some weird hand fetish or something.

Claudia nodded, what Gabriel said was plausible. She just hoped that it was true and he wouldn't be so reckless next time. She raised an eyebrow as he offered his hand out again before she shook it.

"Alrighty then," she repeated, "How about we actually get moving?"
She chuckled, "This journey isn't going to start itself!"

Laurel nodded and wandered over to Claudia. Her trainer bent down so that the Snivy could climb up onto her shoulder once more. Grinning, Claudia then continued onto Route 1.
"I wonder what Pokemon we'll spot first..."

Gabriel hummed in response. "Who knows? Who cares!" His once lopsided grin now became full blown and covered his face merrily. "Off on an adventure are we~" He skipped along exaggeratedly, turning around at winking at his three travel companions; Laurel, Claudia, and Ichorous.

Ichorous facepalmed, shaking his head at his trainer's antics. He couldn't hold back a little chuckle, however, at his running amok.

Claudia shook her head and chuckled as Gabriel skipped along. He really was quite a weird person.. but fun to be with. He wasn't such bad company and Claudia could surely get used to his... randomness.

Laurel looked vaguely un-amused, either that or she was masking it with a straight face. The Snivy flicked her leafy tail and glanced around, blinking at the sounds of wild Pokemon in the undergrowth.
"Vy..?"
The Snivy tilted her head to the side as she spotted a Patrat further up the path. It was nibbling on what looked to be a berry of some kind and hadn't yet spotted the trainers heading it's way.

Gabriel turned back around and had continued skipping until he caught sight of the Patrat. He saw that Laurel had her sights set on him and he didn't really think a Patrat could help his appeals so he let it slide. Instead, he turned around and nodded to Ichorous and then towards a patch of grass. He waved at Claudia to show that he was going to go catch a pokemon and do some training.

After a few tiring battles with some Patrat, Gabriel was exhausted. Of course, he bounced right back after Ichorous dug a chocolate bar out of the backpack. That was when the Lillipup showed up. It must've smelled the sweets because it was walking cautiously towards the pair, nose twitching as his scented the air. "Oh hello," Gabriel cooed. The Lillipup shrunk back. "Let's battle!"

Ichorous padded out and awaited Gabriel's command. Gabriel quickly told the Oshawott to use tackle, loudly throwing out his orders.

The Lillipup made a short bark before dodging left.

Gabe narrowed his eyes. This one might be a bit harder than he anticipated.
