Body and Mind.... are Fragile Things

Sova struggled to hush his own laughter, ending up collapsing to the ground as the pain from the attacks he'd taken suddenly hit him.  On the bright side, this made it difficult to laugh, so it was easier to stop himself from doing so now.  He just sat there, catching his breath and laying in his own pain and misery....  The burning feeling inside of him.... had been toned down.  He could now think.... almost straight.  He stared at his work as he tried to gather his thoughts; what was he supposed to do now?  ....Right, Mirage.  MIRAGE, was she alive!?

Then he heard the voice of the charmander, stating to have found Mirage.  He pushed to lift himself off the ground, no longer caring about his exhaustion, and jumped off the ledge he was on without even looking down to see how far it was.  He landed on his paws rather ungracefully with a bit of a stumble just as the lizard spoke once more, stating Mirage was breathing, and it relieved him to no end.  Suddenly, the intense burning was gone and he felt clear and sane.... and the pain felt a bit more.... vivid.  But that last part wasn't important right now!

"Oh, sh-she's alri-!?" he frantically questioned as he rushed over to see the zoroark.
....No, she was definitely not alright.  Not alright, but alive.  He frantically looked over his friend, immediately spotting a pretty severe-looking bite wound on one of her arms.  He reached his paw up to his neck and between the two ribbons he wore, pulling off the outer one, which was a light blue Guild ribbon.  He liked covering up the girly Joy ribbon with it, but Mirage's safety was far more important than his own fashion.

Suddenly, he was actually focused, and he no longer seemed like a depressed drone nor a psychotic monster.  "Lift her arm for me," he spoke clearly, expecting the lizard to help him.
However, he wasn't calm and this was something he wasn't trying to hide.  His voice was audibly shaky, but rather than a mixture of sadness and mania, this time.... it was just out of fear.  Mirage seemed pretty badly hurt....  He didn't want to lose her.  If given the option, he'd be willing to give up his own life for Mirage, and he doubted said life would even be worth living without her around.  He would feel like a complete failure in every possible way and he doubted he'd ever really feel joy again.

The charmander's claws gouged rather deeply into the ground rather than striking the sableye. The charmander kept up with his momentum to launch himself onto a rock. He clung to the rock and spun around to face the sableye. His tail burned brightly and performed a wild dance on his tail as his eyes narrowed and looked down upon down the little 'pranksters'. His claws glowed as they dug into the rock, on all four legs as is tail burned brightly behind him, casting his shadow down on the sableye and producing a rather menacing effect as the charmander's face was darkened by the lack of light save for the faint glow as the outrage attack took effect.

Garnet spoke, "I do not have time for stupid little pranks. If you value your lives, you will leave me be. Speak one word and i'll make sure that you regret even thinking about pulling your little stunt. You are wasting my time, and I have urgent business I need to attend to that could cost someone their life, so kindly F*CK OFF." The flame on his tail grew larger with the last two words for emphasis, his eyes widening once more as his face twisted into sheer anger.

The dusknoir sighed, "Look, buddy, it's not like i'm killing people or doing any major that I'm going to regret. I know you're trying to help, but please stay in your business. Besides, what's in the past is in the past. Clinging to it and spending a life in woe isn't going to do sh*t for you. If you feel bad about it, then learn from it. Go be in a rescue team, save lives, be brave and better yourself and whatnot. If you want to make an impact on my life, then look a bit less like a emotional mess and be someone to admire." The female spoke. She could hear her husband snort, he was beginning to wake up.

Sova chuckled faintly as the dusknoir finished speaking. One very specific part of that little speech had been funny to him, in a depressing, ironic kind of way. He didn't really care about being told to mind his own business, and the dusknoir's attempt at giving advice back to him was nice and all, but that wasn't very important to him either. What was important was the suggestion for how to fix his problems. "I am in a rescue team. Grassveil Guild, leader of Team Sentima. And I've had a lot of success, more than most," he spoke, a bit less depressed than he'd been prior.
He was still fairly depressed, but it wasn't quite as bad as it had been prior. Things had stopped forcing him to fight and he had faith Mirage at least wasn't going to die. Plus, he was.... well, he was where he needed to be, or at least he hoped he was.

The two sableye both fell silent at the charmander's words, and the one that was visible just.... stared, unsure of how to respond. Then the voice of the gremlin who was still shrouded in the darkness, the one who seemed to be called "Carl," spoke up once more: "I do not have-"

"CARL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" the visible sableye shouted back, silencing its partner.
Carl seemed to have a death-wish.

Upon the first word they had spoken the charmander's mouth opened wide as a fiery energy gathered in the back of his throat. The flames erupted from his jaws as a blast of purple fiery energy shot forth towards the sableye, sending the little gremlin running.  Garnet huffed, jumping off the rock and standing back up on two legs and continuing on his way. The fire type's tail still blazed brilliantly as the flame continued its strange color, a bit of a stomp to his step as a foul mood had started up in the charmander as the effects of the outrage continued.

The dusknoir clapped her hands together, wanting to leave it seemed, "Then you're well on your way to recovery." The dusknoir showed no further interest in communicating with the glaceon, floating up and over Mirage to her husband as he slowly rose. The male dusknoir rubbed his head as his wife grabbed his elbow, "C'mon, let's go find something else to beat up." She started to drag him along either path they were originally going.
"Shoouldn't we at least giive them sum light?" the male spoke groggily. The female sighed before grabbing a nearby stick as the blue flame moved onto the stick.
She tossed it to the ground and spoke, "There, just don't let it get thrown around and it should last you an hour or so. Now let's go!" she pushed the male.

Her consciousness was coming around again, the pain was still there, but she still felt horrible. Her mind was in a daze, and the place felt cold and unforgiving. She was able to open both eyes this time, just in time to see the dusknoirs leaving.

"Whatever," Sova thought to himself as he barely listened to the ramblings of the two dusknoir. He'd done his part, he'd given his warning, and if it wasn't heeded, that was not his fault. He was just glad he wouldn't have to tolerate the negative attitude of the female ghost anymore. Still.... he couldn't deny that they'd helped him. They'd eased his worries for Mirage considerably, and they were even leaving behind some fire to light the way. That was good, as the living candle still wasn't back, and in this place, he wondered if he would ever see said candle again.

Well, that wasn't something he needed to have weighing down on his conscience right now. He wasn't quite sure he could take much more.... weight. He looked down to his unconscious friend to see her less-than-unconscious, and he gave a faint smile with a hint of worry. He wanted to look like he was doing alright, figuring Mirage didn't need to worry about him right now on top of herself. "Hey, you doing alright?" he asked after a moment of hesitation.
There weren't really many good ways to start up a topic right now. What was he supposed to do, ask how almost dying felt?

He knew how that felt already. He didn't need to ask, and he certainly knew waking up from it didn't feel too good. He figured Mirage probably wouldn't want to talk all that much right now.

The charmander was stomping his way onward, items in tow as the purple aura continued to cloak him. The powerful energy agitated him, increased his desire to inflict pain upon others. The lizard focused ahead of him, walking for a few minutes before coming across two pokemon that were significantly larger than he. Two dusknoirs looked down upon him, their large mass blocking his path, "Move." he ordered with a snarl, the leftovers of the attack still taking its toll.

The two stared down at him, the male speaking up first, "Bad day or something?"

"F*CKING MOVE!" he practically shouted at them.

The two dusknoir stared down at him the male speaking up, "Hey..you wanted to beat something right?" the male spoke.

"HYPOCRITE!" the female turned to the male with a rather angry tone, "You hypocrite! I am not going to beat down a little pest just because it talked smack to you after that encounter with the blue thing and his friend!"

Garnet's eyes narrowed, his tail flaring more, "Blue thing? Friend? Explain!" he demanded more from the two ghosts that dared to block his way.

"I don't like either of your tones! Also why should I tell YOU anything?" the male pointed to the charmander.

"What did you DO to them!?" However despite his question he was already firing yet another Fire Blast at the two, this one much more charged than the last. The ball of fire collided with the male. Garnet had jumped to the conclusion that these two had harmed Sova and Mirage, not quite thinking that if they couldn't handle it then he could not. Even if he was thinking straight at the moment and what he thought was true, he likely would have continued to try to assault the two powerful beings.

The male was struck in the stomach with the Fire Blast, being forced back slightly before rubbing the spot on his stomach like it was nothing, "You little pest!" the male huffed, his fist curling into a dark shadow as he pulled his fist back and rushed forward to punch the lizard. The charmander was struck by the attack, letting loose a loud cry as he was smashed into the side of the wall.

The blue thing was talking to her...well, blue and red thing. Was that her blood? No, he seemed friendly. Why was he friendly towards her? No matter, he had asked a question and she might as well answer, "No..." she spoke honestly. She thought for a moment, she wanted up, but she felt that if she moved it would be too much pain. She was feeling better with every passing moment save for the arm, but she was still incapable of movement at the moment.

Well, the response wasn't ideal, but at least Mirage was capable of answering in the first place.  That alone was better than nothing, even if she wasn't doing well.  Of course, it wasn't like Sova had been thinking his friend would just magically be in perfect condition after.... whatever had happened.  He didn't actually know exactly what had happened to Mirage, since he hadn't seen it for himself, but he knew from experience that hydreigon were painful if allowed to be.  He opened his mouth to respond, but a sound caught his attention, causing him to fall silent.  His ears instinctively flattened when his mind registered what he'd just heard.  He stared idly at Mirage, but his attention was on something else entirely at the moment.

A cry, and it sounded awfully akin to the charmander who'd come down here with them.  The glaceon's mind instantly began racing, searching for a solution to the problem that'd presented itself.  He needed to stay with Mirage, to protect her, but he couldn't just leave an innocent in danger....  The charmander was more than a nightlight; he was a living creature with a mind and a soul, just as important as Mirage.  The glaceon's breathing began to pick up in pace as panic overcame him.  What if he left and something happened to Mirage?  But if he stayed, then something would almost certainly happen to the charmander!  But.... yet.... he wanted to stay regardless, just because it was Mirage.

Then the fire came back.  Not the fire from the charmander, or the fire the two ghosts had left him.  No.... this was the thing he'd felt earlier that he could only describe as fire, and not the cheesy "fiery spirit" kind.  It hurt; it was so overwhelming that he could only think to describe it like the emotional equivalent of fire.  It made it hurt just to think, just to exist, and it felt.... wrong.  It didn't feel appropriate for this situation; it didn't feel appropriate for any situation.  But he did his best to ignore and suppress the feeling as he made his decision on what to do.  It couldn't wait; it had to be done now.

"I'll be back, stay here!" he spoke before picking the flaming stick up in his mouth, careful not to let the lit end of it burn him.  He then darted off in the direction of the charmander, trying to keep a slow enough pace to avoid putting out his only light while remaining fast enough to get there in time.  Soon enough, he spotted one of the two dusknoir, then the other, and thought nothing of it at first.  They'd helped him, so why would he be suspicious or weary of them?  Then he saw what one of the two was doing....  There was the orange glow of fire, making the presence of the charmander evident, and one of the two dusknoir appeared to be attacking the source of the glow.

The dusknoir.... who'd saved Mirage.... was attacking the charmander who'd come along and helped him.  He couldn't possibly hurt the ghost, not with such a debt, yet.... he couldn't just let the lizard be beaten.  He stopped running as the shock overcame him. He didn't know how to respond to this. What was the "right" thing to do here? Had he even done the right thing by leaving Mirage? The way things were currently going, he doubted he was going to come out of this trip doing much right.

Garnet laid motionless on the ground for a brief moment, though the purple light still cloaked his body. It took a few seconds for him to force himself up, "Chrrrrrrrr" he growled, his eyes wide open with his tail flaming wildly as a second cloak of light enshrouded him. He was on all four legs as if he were a quadruped rather than bipedal, his tail waving wildly behind him as he glared at the male.

The female looked over to the sound of an approaching creature, and spotted Sova, "Ohi" she waved with a bored look, "This your friend? D*ckwad of a husband, seems to have pissed him off, kick his ass if you want," she spoke nonchalantly, as if there was not some big problem.

The brave little lizard shot forward from his spot, rushing forth on two legs and keeping himself low as he avoided another punch from the male. The smaller opponent launched himself onto the Dusknoir's back from behind, crawling his way up and beginning to scratch violently at the ghost type's eyes from behind with purple glowing claws. The dusknoir cried out in pain and grabbed the charmander before attempting to throw it aside, however the Charmander seemed to have expected this, and managed to launch a Fire Blast just as he was being thrown. He was fortunate enough to have landed the powered up blast of fire right into the dusknoir's stomach as it opened briefly to prepare another attack. The stomach swallowed the ball of flames, before opening up comedically as the dusknoir attempted to fan out the flames growing within it.

"Hot! Hot! Hot!" he cried out before turning to glare at the Charmander, his fist glowing in a dark eerie light as he prepared another Shadow Punch for the Charmander.


Not like she had a choice. She watched the glaceon leave with the light source, surrounding her in darkness. She could still see perfectly fine within this dark crevice. After a moment of simply lying there, she grew bored of simply looking around at rocks and tried to get up. She used her uninjured arm to push herself up, successfully getting onto her rump in a seated position leaning against a large rock and the wall. She looked up, unable to see the sky.
"Where am I?" she mumbled to herself.

Sova's panic was reduced a bit at the female dusknoir's reaction to seeing him and nonchalant view on the fight.  However, this brought up the question of why there was a fight going on, since it wasn't the more aggressive female dusknoir who was currently fighting.  But now wasn't the time to be thinking about what was going on.  Regardless of why the more friendly dusknoir was currently fighting with his nightlight, or how extreme it was, he didn't want them to hurt each other.  He looked to the female just to check if she seemed like she was planning on interfering, and she didn't seem to be, so he was willing to believe her.

Without another thought, he spit the stick out of his mouth and bolted forward with a sudden dramatic increase in speed.  An afterimage was left behind due to the sheer speed and he was between the male dusknoir and the charmander in the blink of an eye.  However, he stopped rather ungracefully, stumbling and almost falling before finally getting his paws firmly on the ground.  S.S. had given him this.... "gift" without his permission, and he was having trouble adjusting to it.  Though, thinking back on things, he'd been able to use it perfectly fine earlier with the hydreigon.

....He didn't want to think about the hydreigon.

The glaceon's fur flash-froze into hard bristles as he prepared to do whatever it took to stop this fight.  He wasn't planning on actually fighting back, but rather, he would take the two's attacks upon himself if they continued trying to fight.  If the dusknoir's punch kept going, he wasn't going to try to avoid it.  He would willingly take the hit and any more that followed. He only hoped that the two combatants would stop willingly.

While the charmander had at least had the intelligence to stop, the Dusknoir went right on ahead in attacking the glaceon without realizing he was there. The fist of the dusknoir collided with the icy spikes, causing him to cry out in pain and pull back his poor hand as blood leaked from where the ice had impaled his hand.

Garnet blinked, his face more confused now than angry, "You're...fine?" he asked, the purple light fading as the Outrage finally wore off. The charmander rose to two legs, staring in surprise at the glaceon. So...if he was fine, then why did the dusknoir...? The world seemed like it was spinning, his head began to grow light headed as there was suddenly two of everyone. The aftereffects of Outrage was beginning to kick in, and the charmander was beginning to swoon from confusion.
"Owww!" the dusknoir cried, looking down at his hand.
"Serves you right," the female spat at the male.

Sova held his ground as the dusknoir's fist slammed into him, and.... Well, maybe "slammed" was a bit of an overstatement. He hadn't really intended to fight, but it seemed the dusknoir had been unable to even break his armor, and as a result, had been injured while he himself was left unfazed. It was pretty underwhelming, especially considering how the two ghosts had talked down to him and treated him like an object.... Well, he supposed maybe the other one was stronger or something, but he doubted even the two of them together would be a threat to him if they couldn't even break his quills.

"Yeah....?" he looked back at the charmander as he responded in a confused manner.
Was it some big shock that he could take a hit or something? His attention was brought back in front of him as the male dusknoir whined and the female responded to the whining in a less-than-nice fashion. Well, it seemed he hasn't inflicted any severe injuries, so that was good. He really hadn't been trying to cause any notable harm, though. "Sorry, but I can't let you two kill each other, as much as you seem to want to," he spoke, referring to both of the combatants.
He hoped this fight had just been a misunderstanding that they could all move on from.

....And he really hoped no one would have actually died had he not shown up.

"But...the way they were talking...I thought they had..." the charmander spoke, trying to put two and two together. The very attempt in trying to get his facts straight caused a minor headache for the charmander. He finally sighed, "Nevermind..." he shook his head. He wanted the light headedness to go away, the outrage attack never had any fun side affects, but it was certainly a blast to use. The charmander's tail had ceased its intense blaze and took on a form that matched his current state, small and weak.

"All I asked was whether or not you were having a bad damn day!" the dusknoir huffed.
"And you couldn't just tell him what happened instead of trying to beat it to a pulp? You couldn't have 'helped another' after 'getting sick' of beating others?" the female responded to the male in the defense of the charmander, "If you were really so 'helpful' then you wouldn't just threaten some one just because you didn't like their words."
The male grumbled, rubbing his eye with his uninjured hand where the charmander had gouged away at it. His vision was blurry, difficult to see with.

Okay, now things were starting to make sense. Sova sighed at the two who'd been fighting as he realized it had been caused by them both being idiots. Maybe he should have just let them beat the violence out of each other. He looked back and forth between the two, checking out their injuries. Nothing major from what he could tell, though neither of them seemed to be particularly happy. Apparently, he'd chosen the wrong dusknoir to warn about violence, as the male didn't seem too happy with what the fight had done.

"You're idiots," he calmly spoke as he hung his head a bit and raised a paw to his forehead, closing his eyes.
He was juuuuuuuuust a bit frustrated about having to leave Mirage. "Not you," he added on, looking up to the female dusknoir.
She at least seemed to have a good sense of who could and couldn't take a beating. Although.... the charmander was still standing, which he thought to be impressive in and of itself.

His posture relaxed as he spoke once more: "You two dragged me away from Mirage to stop you from trying to kill each other each other over literally nothing. I hope you feel good. Now, if you two are done, I should really be getting back to my friend who I'm pretty sure still needs help."
He wasn't too worried about Mirage since he hadn't heard any screams or anything of the sort from her end, but he still didn't want to wait around here too long.

"This is news?" the charmander asked, referring to how he had blatantly called himself the idiot of the group early on when he had met the glaceon. Garnet looked to the dusknoir before approaching it and holding out his small hand in hopes to make amends, "I apologize," he spoke, staring up at the dusknoir. The ghost type merely backed away with a glare, not desiring to accept the apologetic handshake.

"Damn right i'm not," the female huffed, "Now c'mon Manthias is probably throwing a hissy fit by now," she spoke, grabbing the male's hand and dragging him onward. In truth, they didn't know who a Manthias was, she just wanted to get the hell out of there already.


She glanced around, her stomach aching for something to eat. She spotted a rugged beaten looking bag, and began to wonder if it was her's. She decided it was best to wait until she was certain before she touched anything. She sighed, looking down for a moment before her ears shot up as she heard footsteps. The footsteps were coming from a different direction from where the glaceon had run off to with his Stick of Truth.

She looked to where the sound was coming from and froze as her eyes widened. The purple figure was tall, slim, and had a rather large canon on its back. The purple figure was walking slowly, and seemed to have its canon ready for firing as it walked about. She held her breath and froze as it had suddenly stopped, trying to not make a single sound. Maybe it couldn't see in the dark?
It looked right at her.

....Manthias? Sova didn't spend much time thinking on the rather odd and made-up-sounding name, as he didn't care. The female dusknoir clearly didn't want to stick around; she hadn't really seemed very interested in the first place, so this wasn't some big surprise. The two ghosts leaving just meant that he could go ahead and head back to Mirage along with his candlestick. "Time for us to go too, then. Come on, troublemaker," he stated as he turned back toward the way he'd come from and began walking.
It was nice to have a permanent light-source down here, as he doubted he would be able to navigate otherwise. Sure, Mirage could see and probably navigate for him to some extent, but-

Speaking of Mirage, he could just barely make out the black and red figure of the zoroark in the distance. This would have been good, only she appeared to be staring at something. "Uh.... Mirage, are you-" he spoke up as he got a bit closer, the charmander following behind him as he did so.
Then he suddenly lost his voice as the thing the zoroark was staring at was revealed. Just barely in the range of the light, he could see something that he couldn't recognize. It was something he'd never seen before, something he'd never heard of before, something that didn't even seem.... alive.

"Who's your friend....?" he questioned as he slowly made his way over to the zoroark.
Right now, he only cared about protecting Mirage if this thing turned out to be hostile.

Garnet did not comment on being called a troublemaker, after all he had been called much worse in the past. Murderer was definitely a lot more hurtful than Troublemaker. The charmander followed alongside the glaceon, leaning off to the side as he was incapable of walking in a straight line at first. The confusion finally went away however after a brief moment of focusing on nothing but walking, and he was capable of walking like a sane sober mon.

Who was Mirage? She did not know, but there was more important matters at hand, like the large thing that was now staring directly at her with its large beady eyes. The Zoroark did not dare to move as her figure was illuminated along with the strange creature, staring at it with wide eyes as she held her breath. She moved slowly, still in pain but feeling it was necessary. As soon as she made one sign of movement, the canon on the creature's back suddenly glowed brightly before firing a quick beam of energy. Luckily, the zoroark was capable of throwing herself out of the way just in time to avoid the dangerous attack.

Garnet stared at the thing before speaking up, "Is that the thing you're after?" he asked Sova, pointing at the bug and steel type as its gaze followed the moving zoroark as she struggled to get out of its way. The bug's canon moved slowly, following her movements as it prepared to fire another beam of energy.
