Search for that Treasure!

Soaring in the skies above the fiery chasm below, a prehistoric pokemon gave a screech as he circled a portion of it. His wings were spread as he slowly descended onto the ground below him. He finally landed after finding the best place to land, which was pretty much everywhere there wasn't any lava.The archeops landed a little clumsily, not quite perfecting his landing due to only just recently having evolved. He waited for his passenger to hop off, as he surveyed the area.

They were here in search of the treasure that the Xatu had seen. The being that stared at the sun had come around town and even to the guild, spreading his riddle of this new treasure that would surely bring them riches.

"I honestly don't know, its a rather large place. All of the places like this usually are," He responded, talking about the other dungeons similar to this chasm of lava that were infested with feral pokemon and strange items that seemed to come from nowhere. He raised his head up high and looked about, checking once again for a sign of any pokemon that might come to attack. The Archeops was beginning to grow a bit weary, they must have been wandering for what seemed like hours, and flying wasn't exactly something the archeops was completely used to yet. He mentioned none of being weary to the eevee though, for the events similar to the one with George the Buizel might reoccur, something Acro didn't quite favor.

Sova thought for a moment, considering their options. They could keep going with the original plan, turn around and backtrack some, try asking some of the....natives....perhaps just giving up would be the most reasonable option. "Hmm....how high can you fly?" He said, getting an idea. Though it all depended on Acro's ability to fly, he still thought it would be worth a shot. Better than wandering around aimlessly anyways.

"Pretty high?" He responded, having never actually tested how high he could fly himself. He had never gone as high as the clouds, having feared that his ability to fly wasn't skilled enough yet and he would mess up somehow and end up plummeting towards the ground and ending his life. Acro looked to the eevee, wondering what idea it had. He knew he would be able to get a bird's eye view now that he was a full bird with the ability to fly.
"Have an idea?" he asked, wishing for the idea to be shared with him.

"Pretty high...." Sova muttered, wondering just how high Acro could fly. He then pointed up and looked to the sky. "Fly as high as you can and see what you can find in the area. Maybe you'll be able to see something worth seeing." He said, realizing shortly after that what he had said sounded slightly like a demand. "Um....if you're okay with that." He added in an attempt to fix his prior statement. He didn't actually know if the archeops could fly very high, so not asking if he was okay with trying to seemed a bit rude.

Acro seemed to hesitate, but his response came in the form of running off to take flight. Once he was in the air, he flapped his wings fiercely to try and climb the sky. He kept going higher and higher, becoming a bit nervous at the thought of his wings becoming too tired and suddenly falling. He pushed the thought from his mind and kept going, trying to get as high as he even dared to go. One thing he noticed, was things were getting colder up here. He gave a shiver at the sudden climate change, before finally looking down to the area below. He was surprised to see that he couldn't even see Sova anymore! He swallowed and looked about, trying to spot anything noticeable. The only things he spotted that were worthy of being noted, was the lava pit near them, some really tall rocks, and more lava pits.

His wings were beginning to grow a bit frigid, so for fear of his life, the archeops lowered himself back down in a gliding spiral once more. Once he reached the ground, his landing was rather disgraceful as he tripped completely and ended up on his back. He reported his findings to the eevee, his panting giving away the fact that he was out of breath.

Sova watched in admiration as the archeops flew so high he was barely visible as a speck. Upon being told the information, he considered their options. "Hm....rocks and lava....clearly if it's here it isn't out in the open. So....if it IS here, it's probably buried or...." He hesitated for a moment. "....In the lava." Both possibilities seemed extremely challenging. Digging around for ever would certainly be unpleasant, and of course attempting to dive into the lava wouldn't be very fun either.

"Some fire types can go in lava....like say....a slugma....right? Maybe we could try to get some help with that...."

"Well, the slugma from early is likely long gone by now, and the magcargo didn't seem like it was too friendly..." the archeops spoke, going through possibilities from pokemon they've recently encountered.
"I don't think I know of any fire types that can go in the lava either. The slugma from earlier was the only friendly slugma i've probably ever encountered."
Acro looked to the ground, trying to remember if there were any other fire types he knew of that he might be able to go fetch. His memory had either failed him, or he hadn't known anyone with that ability, because he came up with a grand total of zero pokemon that could possibly help them.

Sova sighed. "Well, I guess if it's in the lava we aren't getting it then. And I don't think digging in such a large place would be very worthwhile....so....wanna just keep going forward?" He said, a bit disappointed there were no other ways. "It's not like we have much choice, looks like we keep going forward or give up." He looked forward and began walking towards the pit of lava nearby. He didn't get the chance to see lava much, and so felt like getting a close up view.

Acro listened to the eevee's suggestions, "Yeah..." he responded. He looked at the pit of lava, thinking about the second choice. He had never really purposefully given up something before, well there was his hopes of evolving at one point of his life, but he soon got over that and here he was. Giving up was like admitting defeat, but then again the odds of the treasure being here was solely based upon on interpretation of a riddle. He was really only here because the eevee had wanted to come here and he had nothing better to really do since nobody wanted to go on missions with him.
"So...where now?" he asked.

"I wanna check out the lava....I've never actually gotten to see lava before." Sova said as he approached closer to the pit of death. He reached it after a moment and looked down into it. Honestly, he expected it to be more flashy, but it still looked neat. It was a little bit bubbly, almost like boiling water, aside from being red obviously. He could feel the heat from it, it was a bit uncomfortable, prompting him to back away a bit. "Alright, lets go! Same path we've been taking, straight forward." He said with a smile as he turned around to face Acro.

The prehistoric bird tilted his head as the fox like pokemon examined the pit of lava. He didn't quite understand what would be so exciting about a boiling pit of liquid that would probably be able to kill you before you can even touch it, but he said nothing aloud. The eevee seemed to want to keep moving forward, he suspected it was a better move to make, considering it prevented them from going in a complete circle. If the treasure were here, they would need to cover this place from the largest boulder to the tiniest cranny. This "treasure" could quite literally be anywhere and be anything.

Sova wandered forward, spotting something in the distance just as he was getting bored of just walking. It seemed to be two Pokemon standing in the middle of the path arguing over something, a shiny object. At least they didn't seem to be mindlessly fighting, so perhaps it would be alright to attempt to talk to them. "Well, those two are blocking the path....so....wanna see what's up?" He asked his ally. He didn't really mind the thought of just trying to sneak around them to keep going, but he actually wanted to see what was such a big deal.

The archeops focused on the two pokemon ahead of them. One was dark colored while the other was more red and tan. Acro tilted his head, their voices becoming clearer as they neared.
"I have already told thou once, i shalt not tell thee twice!" the red and tan pokemon known as a growlithe spoke.
"Stop talkin' yer' fancy smug-faced talk, man up, and admit that it's mine!" the pokemon known as houndour spoke.
Acro blinked, the accent and word choice of the two pokemon contrasting massively against each other and not to mention he had never quite heard this kind of language before.

As their voices became clear, Sova's curiosity quickly turned to confusion. Barely being able to get past the odd accents, he noted that they seemed to be arguing over ownership of something. By the looks of it, it was a sparkling box the houndour was guarding. "....Hi, what's going on?" He said in an attempt to take attention away from the argument before it escalated. Not that it was his business if two random Pokemon wanted to fight, but it was the right thing to do.

The two turned to glare at the eevee and both began speaking loudly at the same time, each one trying to tell the eevee what was the matter at once. The growlithe then turned and shouted at the houndour at the top of his lungs, "I am speaking here sir! Was your mother raised in a dung heap!?"
"My mama was born er' raised here in this here valley!" the hound snarled back.
Acro blinked, he was about as confused as the eevee. He was a bit relieved, however, that these two weren't outright attacking them immediately like most pokemon around here would.
"Thou needest to shut thy trap! This here shining box of glamour is my treasure! I found it!" the growlithe spoke.
"The xatu's treasure is mine ya' hear? I saw 'dat ting' first!" the houndour argued.
"I laid my claw on it first!" the growlithe countered.
