Search for that Treasure!

Soaring in the skies above the fiery chasm below, a prehistoric pokemon gave a screech as he circled a portion of it. His wings were spread as he slowly descended onto the ground below him. He finally landed after finding the best place to land, which was pretty much everywhere there wasn't any lava.The archeops landed a little clumsily, not quite perfecting his landing due to only just recently having evolved. He waited for his passenger to hop off, as he surveyed the area.

They were here in search of the treasure that the Xatu had seen. The being that stared at the sun had come around town and even to the guild, spreading his riddle of this new treasure that would surely bring them riches.

A few times during the argument, Sova opened his mouth to speak, but could not find an opening to do so, nor could he think of anything helpful to say. All he could establish was that the two were fighting over a box which they at least seemed to think was the Xatu's treasure. Though he figured the treasure would be more....special looking than a sparkly box.

"Acro....I have no clue what to say." Sova whispered to his companion, gesturing for the bird to attempt to speak next. He didn't really know what to say, the two seemed set on arguing.

Acro seemed to be thrown on the spot as the two looked to him.
"Erm..." the archeops spoke, unsure of what to say himself.
"I know!" the growlithe spoke, "How about we let the most intelligent canine walk away with the prize, being me since thou seems to have the brain capacity of a magikarp."
The houndour snarled and spoke, "No, the strongest should! Can't do nothin with yer' brain if ye' can't have the strength to back it up!"
"You two, how about you judge a contest? Best two out of three of a contest containing intelligence," the growlithe suggested.
"No! Strength!" the houndour growled.
Acro shuffled his feet, "Erm..how about a contest containing three completely different things?" he suggested.

Sova looked to the archeops. A third category could even it out, but he couldn't think of many options. "It's a box you two happened to spot at the same time, intelligence and strength shouldn't have anything to do with it." He paused, considering what good categories for judging would be. "How about....for one, who needs it the most." That was honestly all he could think of. There weren't many good options for deciding who deserves a treasure more when they found it at the same time, after all. He looked to Acro for opinion on his single suggestion.

"I need it more!" they both spouted in unison.
"My mama needs help carin' for the pack. With the treasure, we could sell it and git' some food to feed the youngin's!" the houndour spoke.
"My future is at stake here! My father fully expects me to be the one to find that treasure. If I don't come home with it, i'll be out on the streets, disowned and dirty like this filthy mutt! I'll likely starve to death!" the growlithe spoke.
"It's not exactly an easy job gettin' washing when the only liquid 'round here is one that'll burn yer' hide off!" the houndour defended himself.
Acro merely stood there, feeling rather awkward and concerned for the current situation. From the sounds of it, lives were at stake from both of these pokemon.

Sova hanged his head, becoming frustrated at the situation. Both of the canines certainly had good reasons for wanting the treasure. "Well....whose to say it's even the Xatu treasure? As far as anyone here can tell, it's just a box with something in it...." He said, hoping to make the item look a bit less important. Maybe then one of the hounds would give up more easily. Better yet, perhaps they would both give up and Sova and Acro could take the box.

"No!" the two barked at once.
"That has to be the treasure!" The growlithe spoke.
"Why else would a hard to openin' box be layin' 'round!?" the houndour finished the growlithe's sentence.
"Well those boxes are actually kind of everywhere. I've found a few myself..." the archeops spoke, admitting the truth. The two only continued to eye at the box hungrily and then go back to glaring at each other, ignoring the archeops's words of truth. Acro looked worriedly to Sova, "erm, what now? Should we just let them duke it out or something?"

"Maybe they don't have to fight over it...." Sova said to Acro. "Hey, why don't you two just get the box opened and share the treasure? If it's only one thing that you can't share, then sell it and split the profit." He suggested. The only other fair way to go about it that he could think of would be to knock them both out and take the box so they couldn't fight over it, but that was extremely unappealing to him for obvious reasons.

"S-Sell it for profit!?" the growlithe seemed to be surprised that the eevee even suggested it, "My father would want to keep it! His son's first treasure and all!"
"I'd be 'kay with sellin' it. Just need Sumthin' to help out with Ma...." the houndour lowered his ears.
Acro ruffled his feathers a bit, thinking before finally suggesting, "What about you take the box home," he pointed to the growlithe, "and then perhaps ask your father to help out with his family?" he pointed to the houndour.
The growlithe seemed to hesitate, "No! I am definitely not going to ask my father to help lowly peasants!"
"We don' need help from an uppity snotty folk by the likes of you!" the houndour growled.

Sova sighed. "We could just let them beat each other into being more reasonable then try talking to them...." He suggested to the archeops. Perhaps it was a bit mean, but nothing else seemed to be working. They couldn't both have the box and in their current rage, they didn't seem very willing to share. All other options were very unappealing. So, while his suggestion was a bit mean, it seemed to be the best option.

Why did so many pokemon have to be so eager to get into conflicts? Was just getting along not an option?

"I think that would only make the situation worse..." Acro spoke, noticing the two begin to glare at the cautiously. The two didn't look very strong, but it seemed that the growlithe would be the easier of the two to beat and the houndour might cause a bit of trouble if they did end up battling. He figured that the Growlithe was a more pampered pup while the houndour grew up in this area and was struggling to survive. He figured that the houndour should have it, after all he was feeding young ones right? If the growlithe was so worried about surviving on his own he could join the guild or find some kind of work. It really wasn't that difficult...right?

Sova let out another sigh. He didn't want to admit it, but the bird thing was right, it would probably just make the situation worse. If he had to choose one of them, he would certainly choose the houndour, just because of the growlithe's refusal to offer help to the opposition just because of his occupation as a "peasant". Though he didn't like how either of them were taking the situation and would prefer to just get them both to act civil.

"Can't you two just try to get along and settle it maturely? If you keep arguing, you'll fight. If you fight, you'll both get hurt. Do you want that?" He said, perhaps having his words fall on deaf ears. Either way, he at least wanted to try.

"Gettin' hurt is part of life, if you just let yerself get pushed 'round you 'aint gon' last long," the houndour huffed.
"Well, I don't want to get my fur dirty," the growlithe spoke, losing himself in his thoughts for a moment, he soon shook his head and hesitated before finally saying "But I don't want to end up on the streets either!"
The archen frowned, getting a strange feeling from either one of them. Something here seemed a little...off, as if one of these two were hiding something...

Sova looked to the growlithe. "Why would your dad put you out on the streets just for failing to find anamazing treasure, once?" He asked, a bit confused as to how someone's parents could be so harsh. He certainly had much nicer parents than the growlithe's father.

He then turned to the houndour. "And you....trying to talk civilly instead of attempting to beat others until they pass out is NOT being pushed around, what's wrong with you?" It was probably becoming easy to tell that Sova was getting sick of both of their attitudes.

"I come from a great and purebred generation of arcanines. They only paired with others worthy of each other's time in order to create the perfect offspring. I am that offspring, if I fail then generations of hard work and searching is rendered meaningless!" the growlithe spoke, almost as if he were slightly bragging but kind of worried at the same time.
The houndour at least waited for the growlithe to finish before speaking the answer to his question, "It's entirely possible to git' shoved around by wurds ya' know! Its what them other folk call bullyin'! Talkin' is just the fancy way out that them gov'ments that run places like towns use. My mama told me so herself!"
Acro merely remained silent, listening instead of intruding. He feared that he might say something to make it worse, and the eevee seemed to be handling this rather well since the two seemed to be calming down a bit.

Sova shifted his full attention to the houndour. "Talking is how you make friends. It's how you settle differences without violence and avoid bloodshed. Fighting on the other hand....should be a last resort. Someone who resorts to fighting first is someone who thinks they are wrong. So....are you wrong?" He asked, glaring at the houndour with a very focused and serious look.

At least they were no longer insulting each other, that was a step in the right direction. There was certainly something odd about both of them though. Probably just that their personalities were so different from what he was used to.
