Search for that Treasure!

Soaring in the skies above the fiery chasm below, a prehistoric pokemon gave a screech as he circled a portion of it. His wings were spread as he slowly descended onto the ground below him. He finally landed after finding the best place to land, which was pretty much everywhere there wasn't any lava.The archeops landed a little clumsily, not quite perfecting his landing due to only just recently having evolved. He waited for his passenger to hop off, as he surveyed the area.

They were here in search of the treasure that the Xatu had seen. The being that stared at the sun had come around town and even to the guild, spreading his riddle of this new treasure that would surely bring them riches.

Sova could see the subject of the dratini was touchy and tried to shift the conversation more towards the gengar. "The gengar was on a different team? Then why was he with you? Friends?" He paused for a moment. "Where'd he go?" He didn't want to pry, but he couldn't think of anything else more interesting to talk about, and hoped talking about the gengar wouldn't upset Acro.

"William, he's a part of a different team, we became friends a while ago. We did a few missions together, I guess he either pitied me for not having someone to go on missions with or had a lot of spare time," the archeops spoke, thinking about the missions he had with the poisonous ghost type.
"He probably doesn't even know that I'm an archeops yet, I haven't quite seen him since I evolved, I wonder if he'll be as surprised as I was when he evolved from a ghastly to gengar..."

Sova listened, he liked the name William, but wondered what would have made the two stop associating. "He sounds nice. Why'd you two separate?" He said. He then noticed the ground felt as if it was rapidly heating up. "Hey....is it just me or is the ground getting h- ow!- hotter...." He said as he moved quickly across the ground, trying to find a cooler area. But to no avail, the ground just kept heating up.

The archeops felt the earth burning at his own talons, he gave a startled squawk before shoving himself into the air, flapping his wings harshly in attempt to keep himself airborne. His burn hadn't been bothering him too much now, and he soon forgot about it as more pressing matters came to be.
"What's this!?" he exclaimed, not quite encountering something like this before. He was slowly climbing the air, keeping himself near the eevee in case it decided to hop on for another ride to someplace less heated.

Sova spotted a Magcargo nearby and stumbled back away from it, realizing it was probably using an attack.  "It's an attack!"  He yelled as he backed farther away from the enemy.  The ground around him began glowing red with energy, getting brighter and brighter.  It looked as if the energy was about to erupt from the ground.  "Hey, I can't fly, so a little help would be appreciated!"  He said as he hopped around, trying to keep his paws off the ground as it got hotter and hotter and the glow got so bright he could barely see through it.

(Magcargo used Earth Power.  Sova used yell for help.)

The archeops had been waiting for the eevee to hitch a ride, he rolled his eyes and instead snatched the eevee from the ground like a bird of prey with his feet. He took off into the air, and made sure that his feet were clenched tight enough around the eevee that he wouldn't fall, but wouldn't suffocate either. Acro surveyed the ground below them, looking towards the Magcargo to see it glaring at the two. A fennekin stood on its back with its chest puffed out as it released glowing bits of embers towards the flying Archeops.

Acro managed to avoid the attack, suddenly becoming faster as duplicates began to appear all throughout the air, along with duplicates of the eevee in his talons. He neared a tall boulder similar to the one the Braixen from earlier had been sitting upon, and dropped the eevee off there, out of range of the Magcargo's attacks.

Sova was hoping to be picked up, but didn't want to be rude and just try to latch onto his ally. What a relief the Archeops was thinking the same thing, or he would probably have experienced something similar to Acro's burn. Upon being dropped he skidded a bit, almost falling off. "Woah! Next time you're gonna make me balance on a rock, let me know!" He said, jokingly.

He looked in the direction of the enemies, they had gained a bit of distance on them. "Wanna just run? Er....I guess fly in your case. The Fenniken might be able to keep up, but I'm pretty sure we could at least get away from the Magcargo. Why fight if we don't have to?" He said as he looked over the edge of the rock. It didn't seem like too high of a jump, he was just worried about jumping down and being hit by another Earth Power.

Acro flapped his wings, keeping himself airborne, next to the eevee. He listened to it speak and replied, "That would be the best idea," he took off higher into the air again, boulders glowing with a strange and purple radiating aura rising into the air from around the eevee, leaving only the boulder he stood upon untouched. Some rocks simply floated there, creating a set of stairs so as to offer the eevee a way to eliminate the risk of falling and breaking his legs. The other boulders, were sent hurtling towards the Magcargo and the fennekin, as they were slowly growing near.

Sova simply looked at the rocks for a moment, admiring the archeops' control over them. He didn't know Acro could do more with the boulders than just toss them at enemies. But, he didn't have as much time to just look at it as he would have liked, having to hurry and get down to the bottom. Along the way, he looked to the enemies, being berated by the boulders. The magcargo was much too slow to even hope to dodge them, being hit immediately and knocked over, but the fenniken did a good job of avoiding them.

About halfway down the makeshift stairs, he decided to just jump straight down to save some time, since he thought he was close enough to the ground already to be fine jumping down. He hit the ground harder than expected, stumbling a bit, but at least his legs were in tact. "If we're gonna run, we'd better do it now, while we still can. You'd better lead the way since you have the aerial view." He said, beginning to back away but not yet running in case the archeops decided he would rather fight.

The archeops nodded, not realizing the eevee likely couldn't see him nod. He turned his wings and made a u-turn in the air, ceasing the assault on the fire type pokemon and proceeding to begin the plan of running, or in his case flying, away. He sailed the air, making sure to match his shadow with the eevee below him, hoping to ward off any nearby foes he may miss by fooling them into thinking this Eevee was about to be his lunch. Acro looked down to the eevee from the air, giving a questioning squawk to the eevee as he wondered which way they were even going to go.

With that, Sova turned and darted away as well, from the ground obviously. He looked up to the archeops, then back to the path. This was certainly a setback, but in his eyes, it didn't change anything other than their pace. "Lets try to stay on track! Same plan as before, right?" He hollered up to his ally, before looking back down to make sure he wasn't going to run into anything.

He turned around briefly to look back at the enemies, they didn't seem to be too good at pursuing as they were being left behind fairly easily. The Fenniken didn't even attempt to chase them its self, sitting on top of the Magcargo. Maybe it was just really lazy or perhaps it was fatigued or injured. Either way, that meant an easy getaway.

The archeops hadn't quite heard what the eevee had said down below, but decided to just hang behind him a little and just follow the eevee. He looked back mid-flight to see that the magcargo had given up pursuit and the fennekin merely remained on the shell. Its cheeks were slightly puffed out as if it were angry and had been pouting about it, but the archeops didn't seem to care as he resumed looking below and ahead. There was a rather large pit of lava not too far from here, but it wasn't close enough to deem a threat of falling into for the small eevee. The archeops wondered how they would even find the treasure. Right now, they were just aimlessly searching, was there some kind of key to finding the treasure that they were missing or was this search as fruitless as it seemed?

After a bit, Sova slowed down some, not wanting to waste all of his energy running away from enemies that weren't pursuing. Though he still kept some speed, trying to cover some more ground faster. Not far from him, he could see the pit and knew it contained lava despite his ground view of it because of the reddish glow around it. It didn't seem to be obstructing their path, so he paid no mind to it.

He then slowed to a stop, waving for Acro to come down so they could talk about a plan. The enemies were at a safe enough distance to not be a threat even if they decided to attempt to pursue, so there was no reason to continue their fast pace and Sova really wanted a short break from the running anyways.

Acro noticed the Eevee stop, he studied the brown spec on the ground for a moment before realizing it was waving for him to come down. He gave a screech of acknowledgement before tilting his wings to bring him into a downward spiral. He straightened his spiral out to a line once he was close to the ground, managing to catch himself with his powerful legs instead of slamming into the ground or some rock. It was probably one of his more successful landings of all of them. Feeling rather proud of himself, he turned to the eevee and asked, "Find something?"

Sova looked around for a moment, making sure he hadn't missed anything in the area. "Just rocks and lava. That's the thing, we aren't finding anything, I figured maybe we should consider a different strategy for searching." He paused for a moment. "How much longer does this place go on? Do you know? That would really help." He continued, hoping for some more insight. He honestly felt a bit lost, not knowing where the best place to look for the treasure would be at. Surely they were at least near the center by then but he saw no signs of the treasure, so that probably wasn't the correct place to look.
