A Hoenn Adventure

Cassidy woke up to the sound of her rather loud Taillow alarm. The clock was a plain pale blue other than the Taillow model situated on top of it. The alarm continued to play the recorded "Taillow! Taillow!" call until Cassy rolled over and turned it off, looking at the time as she did so.
It was 6:30am and Cass was about to go back to sleep when she realised what the day was. She practically threw the quilt off herself as she leaped out of bed, stretching her arms. She went over to her window and threw open the curtains before opening the windows themselves to let in the fresh air.

After taking a quick shower to freshen up, Cassidy went back into her room to get changed. Sifting through her drawers, she picked out a shirt that was white with orange stripes. To go with it, she picked out a pair of pale peach coloured three quarter length trousers and a pale blue coat. Once she was dressed, she brushed her dark red hair and dug underneath her bed for her bag.
The bag was a simple, grey-blue shoulder bag but it was roomy and would likely hold all of what she would need to take with her.

Once she had packed everything she was going to take with her, she put her shoes on, grabbed her dark blue scarf and left a note in the kitchen for her parents when they woke up. She headed out at 7:30.

Cassidy didn't have to meet the Professor in his laboratory until about 10:00, so she spent the next few hours just outside of Littleroot Town, watching the world go by. She sat with her sketch book in her lap and her pencils and watercolours in one pocket of her bag. The route however, seemed to be deserted. There were no Pokemon to draw and she was so familiar with Route 101 now that she could draw every blade of grass without looking.

After a long while of sitting silently Cas gathered her things with a sigh and headed back into Town. She wandered down the street on her way to her friend Celeste's house. Surely she would be up and about by now. It was nearly 9:30 after all. Only half an hour to go until they could meet their new Pokemon!

"Use Harden Silcoon!"
The Silcoon winced at the continued Astonish attacks that were being used. It began to harden it's shell, upping it's natural defences and attempting to protect itself from the Lotad's onslaught.

"Shadow Sneak again!"
The Ralts did as she was bid, though this time, instead of disappearing from view, the Ralts' normal shadow began to extend... It was almost unnoticeable at first, but Serena just stayed still, the shadow reaching behind the Volbeat to attack.

The Volbeat seemed suspicious of the fact that no one was attacking it. That is, until it was hit in the back by its own shadow. At least, what it thought was its own shadow.

As instructed by Celeste, Halcyon continued the Astonish attacks, even though the Silcoon was upping its defenses. No matter how many defenses it put up, eventually the attacks would get through.

The female bug catcher frowned. No matter what she did, the Silcoon had no way to escape.
It was then that the male bug catcher changed tactics.
"Volbeat use Flash!"

The Volbeat's tail lit up the area with a blinding flash. Cassidy had to shield her eyes, but Serena was fine as her eyes were shaded by her helmet.
When the light cleared, the Silcoon was on the Volbeat's back, having been rescued from the Lotad's onslaught of Astonish attacks. From the air, it was also impossible for Serena's Shadow Sneak move to hit.

Cassidy frowned and wondered if Celeste had anything up her sleeve. She had already checked the Pokedex and Serena's next move to learn would be Confusion... which would be perfect in this situation. Cassidy sighed but decided to try it anyway.
"Serena! Try and use Confusion! Concentrate hard and focus all that Psychic energy!"

Celeste frowned. She thought for a moment. Deciding she may as well give it a shot, she gave Halcyon new instructions. "Halcyon, use Synthesis!"

The Lotad obliged. Suddenly, the light from the sun grew to a blinding sheen as it collected over one spot- Halcyon. He absorbed it into his leaf/lily-pad with a blink.

The sunlight had momentarily blinded the Volbeat. It began falling in rapid spirals, the Silcoon dropping off when it was close enough to the ground to avoid crashing.

Celeste cheered. "Alright, astonish! This time take on the Volbeat."

The Ralts concentrated on using her Confusion. The falling Silcoon.
All of a sudden a huge burst of Psychic energy cause the Silcoon to float in mid air. Though stopping it from getting a very rough landing, it also damaged the cocoon Pokemon, knocking it out despite all the defence it had put up.

The Volbeat had had enough by this point, and the new barrage of Astonish attacks was enough to knock it out completely. Halcyon happily crowed his victory, toddling back over to Celeste. Celeste grinned happily and chuckled merrily as she petted the Lotad.

"Taaad! (I won! I won!~)" Halcyon appeared eager for Celeste's attention. She simply laughed and repeated what he said, although she wasn't aware that he was saying it too. "You won!" She turned to the bug catchers. "Great battle! Your strategy is really neat."

"Woohoo!" grinned Cassidy, scooping up the Ralts.
"I'm so proud of you for managing that Confusion!" she grinned before turning to the Bug Catchers.
"I agree. You didn't just leave each other to their own devices. You helped them." she smiled.

The bug catchers nodded their thanks for the compliments before heading off to get their Pokemon healed.

With the newly gained experience points, Halcyon had gained a level. Celeste grinned at this, having learned this information from rescanning him on the Pokedex. "Alright! More training I suppose. Poor Deluge is only level 3." She patted the Surskit's head lovingly. Deluge pouted.

Cassidy chuckled, "I want Twayblade to learn that Quick Attack move before I attempt to battle any Gym Leaders."

The Treecko, still on her shoulder, smiled in reply.
"Treecko Tree!(Yes, Quick Attack!)"
She seemed like she couldn't wait to learn the speedy move.

Cassy decided to seek out some more wild Pokemon to battle with. After returning Serena to her Pokeball, she encountered a wild Ralts. Twayblade battled and defeated it in a matter of minutes.

Celeste waved and dashed off. She soon encountered a Wurmple.

"Deluge, Bug bite!" Celeste's orders began.

Deluge carried them out as flawlessly as she could, ducking and dodging and biting on time. She was unsuccessful quite a few times, the enemy pokemon escaping before she could beat them, but she did prevail quite often.

Celeste praised her as she was victorious time after time, beating three Poochyena, two Wurmple, and a Zigzagoon. By this point she had gained four levels and learned the move Quick Attack.

Celeste moved on to the next Pokemon; Ace.

She used the same method to train Ace and he too gained a number of levels. He learned the move Supersonic along the way and Celeste could see that he was close to gaining the move Wing attack as well.

She continued this process until her team was leveled like so; Deluge was level seven, Ace level eight, Doro level ten, and Halcyon level eight. Doro had learned water gun, whilst Halcyon had learned Absorb and Nature Power, forgetting Growl in the process.

Celeste left to go meet back up with Cassidy.

Cassidy meanwhile had battled the various Pokemon of the route and had trained Serena to level 8, Ditrysia to level 9, Shiruva to level 7 and Twayblade to level 11, learning Quick Attack and forgetting Leer.

Cas watched as Shiru began to glow. The purple Wurmple evolved just like Ditrysia had and the glow cleared to reveal another Silcoon. This time however, the Silcoon was pale gold in colour with a bright blue eye, reflecting the Shiny Pokemon status that Shiruva had.

Cassidy frowned. She now had two Silcoon and though that was absolutely fantastic... it also wasn't. Silcoon couldn't move. They couldn't walk, they couldn't fly, float or hover. They couldn't even slither... that left her with only two Pokemon for her gym challenge. She frowned and send out Twayblade and Ditrysia again.

"Twayblade. I want you to use Quick Attack to try and dodge Ditrysia and Shiruva's String Shot moves. I'm hoping this will help train you all at the same time!" she grinned.

This training exercise continued even whilst Celeste was looking for her. Shiruva gained another level... but it didn't seem to be helping much. Their aim however, had significantly improved. Cassidy told them to try using Poison Sting... each in turn instead of String Shot. hopefully they could get at least some aiming practice out of this.

Celeste watched in amusement as the two stationary Pokemon sat spewing out webs and poisoned spikes. "Mind training some of mine that way?" She sent out Deluge and Halcyon. They joined the dodging of the spikes and webs as well as attempting to get a move in edgewise.

Celeste watched with interest and shouted a few commands every once in a while. Doro slept, as usual, and Ace roved about in the sky, watching the scene below from an aerial view.

"Sure!" smiled Cassidy, just wanting her Silcoons to get as much experience as they could. The more targets they had, the better. All of a sudden Ditrysia began to glow and Cassy's face visibly lit up. When the white light cleared and Ditri's evolution was complete, Cas dashed over to hug the Beautifly... though she was careful not to damage her beautiful wings.

She smiled and bent down to pet Shiruva who looked quite disappointed with herself.
"Don't worry Shiru. You'll evolve soon too," she smiled before returning Shiru and Twayblade to their Pokeballs. She scanned Ditrysia with the Pokedex;

Beautifly, the Butterfly Pokémon. Beautifly is the evolved form of Silcoon. Beautifly have long, thin noses which can extend to suck the pollen out of flowers. It loves sweet pollen and riding the spring breeze from flower to flower.

Celeste was awestruck. "Whoa! So pretty!~ Nearly rivals water type Pokemon!" She began gushing over the beauty of the bug Pokemon. Realizing she sounded like a nut-job, she coughed and signaled her Pokemon to gather towards her. She scanned them all with the Pokedex and found that whilst Ace and Doro had obviously stayed the same, Halcyon had raised another level as had Deluge. "Ready to heal up and then challenge the gym?"

"Yup!" grinned Cassidy, returning Ditrysia to her Pokeball and marching back towards Petalburg's Pokemon Centre.
Despite the amount they had battles, most of the injuries were mere cuts and bruises... nothing major or worth worrying about. Luckily, this meant that it also took a much shorter duration of time for their teams to be healed completely and ready for the gym challenge.
