A Hoenn Adventure

Cassidy woke up to the sound of her rather loud Taillow alarm. The clock was a plain pale blue other than the Taillow model situated on top of it. The alarm continued to play the recorded "Taillow! Taillow!" call until Cassy rolled over and turned it off, looking at the time as she did so.
It was 6:30am and Cass was about to go back to sleep when she realised what the day was. She practically threw the quilt off herself as she leaped out of bed, stretching her arms. She went over to her window and threw open the curtains before opening the windows themselves to let in the fresh air.

After taking a quick shower to freshen up, Cassidy went back into her room to get changed. Sifting through her drawers, she picked out a shirt that was white with orange stripes. To go with it, she picked out a pair of pale peach coloured three quarter length trousers and a pale blue coat. Once she was dressed, she brushed her dark red hair and dug underneath her bed for her bag.
The bag was a simple, grey-blue shoulder bag but it was roomy and would likely hold all of what she would need to take with her.

Once she had packed everything she was going to take with her, she put her shoes on, grabbed her dark blue scarf and left a note in the kitchen for her parents when they woke up. She headed out at 7:30.

Cassidy didn't have to meet the Professor in his laboratory until about 10:00, so she spent the next few hours just outside of Littleroot Town, watching the world go by. She sat with her sketch book in her lap and her pencils and watercolours in one pocket of her bag. The route however, seemed to be deserted. There were no Pokemon to draw and she was so familiar with Route 101 now that she could draw every blade of grass without looking.

After a long while of sitting silently Cas gathered her things with a sigh and headed back into Town. She wandered down the street on her way to her friend Celeste's house. Surely she would be up and about by now. It was nearly 9:30 after all. Only half an hour to go until they could meet their new Pokemon!

After having all of her Pokemon healed, Celeste ate a few crunchies to calm her nerves down. "Alright. Let's get going then!" Her four Pokemon seemed to agree, for they all let out cheers. She beamed down at them and continued her walk down the street and to a large building which was labelled "Pokemon Gym." Celeste grinned wickedly. "Straight to the point I suppose."

"Are you ever gonna let me try those crunchies?" asked Cassidy hopefully as they walked down the street towards the Gym. The Petalburg Gym was a Normal type Gym and so often was mistaken for being plain easy to beat. However that was not the case....

Celeste narrowed her eyes and glared at Cassidy. "Never! You must prove your worth to dine upon my crunchies!" She exclaimed. Doro reached down to grab a crunchie, a wild gleam in his eyes. She slapped away his paw. "My crunchies!"

"Mudkip! (Pokemon Abuse!)"

She walked forwards and entered the building. "Hello?"

Norman, the Petalburg Gym Leader, wandered over to them.
"Hellio! And welcome to my Gym," he grinned.

"We're here to challenge you!" announced Cassidy, despite the fact that it was probably the most obvious thing in the world right now.

"Ahh. Well there we have a problem. You see I was going to take young Wally here out to help him catch his first Pokemon..."
The young boy in question wandered over to Norman and the two young challengers to see what was going on.

Celeste raised an eyebrow. "Well hello there. I'm Celeste. We started our journey a few days ago and we wanna try out our skills." She flashed a brilliant smile. "You can wait out a battle or two, right Wally?" She narrowed her eyes slightly. Doro blinked innocently whilst the rest of the water types simply stared blankly.

"I'll battle you both as long as you take Wally and teach him how to catch Pokemon afterwards," replied Norman, his arms crossed.

Cassidy looked to Celeste to answer.

Celeste mulled this over. "Alright, why not. It seems an easy enough job." She grinned at Wally. "We'll teach you how to catch Pokemon like pros!" Her Pokemon seemed to beam in agreement. "Who's battling you first then?" She looked to Cassidy.

Cassidy just shrugged and Norman stayed silent, seemingly waiting for the girls to decide.

"I will then," replied Cassidy, grabbing Twayblade's Pokeball and readying herself at one end of the stadium.

"The battle will be two-on-two. The first to knock out both of the opposing team will be declared the winner!" announced the referee.

Spinda - 10 - Encore, Tackle, Uproar, Copycat
Vigoroth - 15 - Body Slam, Scratch, Uproar, Focus Energy

Celeste took a seat on the benches across the gym. She watched eagerly, her Pokemon sitting on the benches alongside her.

Norman grinned. "Alright then, let's get down to business to defeat the huns." He threw out a ball that was blue and red in color. A small cream colored Pokemon wobbled around. The Spinda let out a woozy battle cry.

Cassidy frowned, suddenly deciding that it might be best to save her strongest Pokemon for last. She switched the Pokeball in her hand and sent out Ditrysia.
"Ditrysia, use String Shot."

The Beautifly started off the battle with a short cry before aiming and using String Shot at the Spinda. Cassidy wondered why it tottered around like that and so got her Pokedex out.

Spinda, the Spot Panda Pokémon. Spinda uses its seemingly clumsy movements to confuse its opponents. It is said that no two Spinda have the same pattern of spots.

Norman narrowed his eyes. "Be careful of the string, Spinda. It is very sticky." He ordered a counter-attack. "Use Copycat, Spinda!"

The Spinda twirled about a bit before sending a String Shot attack straight at Distrysia's String Shot. The two webs were hopelessly intertwined and fell to the ground with a useless thud.

Norman straightened his back, looking if only the smallest amount, pleased with himself.

Celeste frowned. She cheered on Cassidy. "C'mon Cas! Show 'em who's who!"

Cassidy frowned. That Copycat move was going to become a problem.
"Poison Sting Ditri, dodge whatever he throws at you!"

The Beautifly nodded before fluttering up into the air, she formed a purple ball in front of her face before firing multiple purple barbs down at the Spinda.

Norman frowned while his Spinda was showered in purple poisonous spikes. "Avoid as many as you can, Spinda. I want you to use Uproar." He appeared to be content with this plan of action as he fell silent.

Celeste grinned. "Keep it up, Cas! You'll beat him in no time!"

"Tackle attack! Quieten that Spinda!"

The Beautifly winced at the Uproar attack. Despite not having visible ears she could still hear it and it hurt. She did as she was asked and zoomed towards the Spinda, attacking it Directly with a Tackle attack.

"Spinda, dodge!" Norman shouted, urging his Spinda out of the way with both auditory signals and visible ones.

However, this was too late. As the Spinda went to dodge, Ditrysia was already upon it. Knocked sideways, it weakly flailed about.

"Spinda! Uproar, one more time!"

Celeste cheered and leaped up and applauded at the appropriate times, giggling at her Pokemon when they too cheered and applauded.
