In all of Time and Space - Unova RP

Claudia wandered out of the house with a cheerful, "Byee!" to her mother and a quick wave. She carried with her a pale blue bag which no doubt stored some impressive amount of possessions in it. Claudia's long red hair hung loose, flowing out behind her as she skipped down the road of Nuvema Town and headed towards Professor Juniper's laboratory.
Today was the day she was going to start her Pokemon journey. Today was the day where she would finally get a Pokemon of her own!
Grinning to herself, she once again went through the three Pokemon that most new trainers in Unova chose from when they started their journeys.

There was Snivy, the grass type. Lithe, nimble and pretty cool by starter standards.
Secondly there was Tepig, the fire type. Tepig was kinda cute in Claudia's opinion, but having seen some of it's evolutions, she was less than keen to choose one. A previous run in with a trainer's angry Emboar had put her off of them and to be honest she still found it hard to be around them.
Last but not least, there was Oshawott, the water type. The first time Claudia had seen an Oshawott she had literally squealed at how adorable it looked. She couldn't believe it actually evolved into such a strong looking Pokemon.

Claudia was snapped from her thoughts when she realized that she had reached the laboratory. Gently, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

Claudia also took to the stage. As the MC called for the battle to begin, she did a short spin, the red edges of her dress splaying out around her before she tossed Laurel's Pokeball. The ball opened at the same time as Ichorous'.
The Snivy materialized in a flurry of leaves. The leaves swirled around her like a small tornado before shattering into green particles.

Claudia grinned at Gabriel before looking across the field to see what Pokemon their opponents possessed.

At the exact moment that Claudia spun, Gabriel did likewise. As Ichorous' ball popped open, the Oshawott emerged surrounded by shimmering bubbles. They were varying shades of blues and the stadium's lights reflected off of them beautifully before they popped, creating tiny bursts of mist until none remained.

Gabriel was pleased with both his and Claudia's performance so far, but was careful not to get too big a head. He squinted across the field to see the brunette throw out her own Pokeball as she leaped into the air with a wink, her green dress flowing around her. From her ball emerged a bright pink light. It shimmered into deep hues of purples before slowly fading back into a pale pink. As the light faded out only a small pink Pokemon remained. It floated about in the air, eyes round and baleful.

Gabriel was willing to admit that it was an impressive performance. He bit his lip and turned his gaze towards the other girl, observing her entrance.

The second girl, the one with ginger hair and blue eyes mirrored her partner's leap but instead of a wink, gave a rather cheeky smile. She twirled mid-air, showing off her sapphire coloured dress as she threw her own Pokeball.

In contrast to Elise's entrance, Shara's was rather sharp and cheerful rather than mysterious. From the ball came a bright white light, tinted with the blue of electricity. From the pale blue light an Emolga came spinning, the light bending behind him into a spiral of sorts. He glided in a short circle before landing next to Elise's Munna.

Claudia looked to Gabe. That Emolga could prove a problem, especially against Ichorous. They would have to try their hardest to pull this off.

Gabriel frowned, lips curving down for only a minute second. He turned his head to the MC who was announcing the rules of the contest battle. After having heard all that was needed of him, Gabriel nodded to Ichorous.

Ichorous padded to his spot in a more graceful way than he would usually walk. He made his steps purposeful and poised rather than all over the place and based on speed. He narrowed his eyes at the Emolga and the Munna before listening closely for Gabriel's command.

"Ichorous! Water gun!" Gabriel's glance slid to Claudia to clue her in on his plan.

Ichorous dashed his more poised dash so that he was in a better position that was closer to both his targets and Laurel. He shot a stream of water from his mouth towards the Munna and the Emolga who were standing relatively close together.

Elise quickly countered this attack with a shout of, "Kyurie! Scatter!" The Munna let out a short cry before quickly angling itself away from the jet of water. Elise glanced towards Shara, believing that she could handle herself in he own counter of this relatively basic attack. It appeared that their opponents were starting out basic and moving up to the more complex attacks.

Shara watched as the Oshawott wandered into position. It was a slow start for a contest battle... and just a plain Water Gun after all that suspense. Unfortunately for her, she had missed Gabe's sideways glace at Claudia. Shara prepared a command but before sh could say anything, Claudia's voice rang loud and true through the arena.

"Laurel! Magical Leaf!"

The Snivy leaped into the air with both speed and grace. She twirled, her lithe form creating a spectacle of it's own as she sent leaves flying toward the Water Gun.

"Reito! Dodge with Quick Attack!"
The Emolga sprung into action. He was just as fast as Laurel, if not faster, but that wouldn't help him now. Laurel skilfully used her Magical Leaf to surround the water gun. The leaves danced around it's surface, their energy causing the blast of water to bend. As Laurel controlled the leaves to follow the Emolga, the water went with it, inside the circle of leaves.

Reito was quickly cornered and hit by the combination. A bad start to the battle for Shara. She realised she had been to dependent on her Pokemon's speed.

Gabriel simply raised his chin, not wanting to come across as arrogant. He was beaming on the inside, however, very proud of Claudia's and his attack strategies. "Alright Ichorous, Trump Card!" They had gone over one such strategy like this in the past day and Gabriel was hoping that Claudia would catch on quickly. Of course, even if she didn't, Trump Card was a very good stand-alone move as well.

Ichorous leaped into the air and began throwing out cards just as he would as if he was throwing his scalchop. The multicolored, glowing rectangles flew towards the Munna and the Emolga at a very fast pace.

"Kyurie, Psywave!" Elise attempted to stop the cards in their tracks.

Kyurie let out a spiraling wave of purple and pink colored light. It headed for the Trump Card attack, stopping a few of them and causing them to drop to the ground, color evaporating.

"Reito! Use Thundershock!" The blue beam of electricity sped towards the Oshawott, attempting to catch him off guard. As it continued onwards, the static began forming into a small spiral around the outside of the main beam of electricity. This static made it look like it was spinning, despite the fact that it was merely moving in one straight line. It was a move, obviously designed in the hope of confusing an opponent.

"Laurel, stop that electricity with Magical Leaf!"

With a short nod, the Snivy once again leaped into action. Her speed gave them an advantage, the leaves heading towards the beam of electricity. They began to cluster in front of it, blocking the move with a Leaf Shield. Some of the remaining leaves caught the Trump Cards as they fell, causing them to bounce up and explode into small fireworks of colour instead of just dropping to the ground from the effects of the psychic type move.

Gabriel allowed a small grin. He gathered his wits and called out his next move. "Trump Card again, but this time..Propel them with Water Gun!" Gabriel thought that this tactic might be a bit more exciting than the traditional form of either moves. Plus, if the cards were encased in water they would be more difficult to stop. It was worth a try at least.

Ichorous sent a grateful look to Laurel before carrying out his trainer's commands. He first shot off the colorful cards, hues reflecting in his eyes. With a cry of "Osha!" he shot out a stream of water and pushed the cards towards the two opposing Pokemon.

While encased in the water, the cards took on a beautiful appearance. Their color was near luminescent, various reds and blues and greens and yellows all reflected in the water. This attack would deal damage as well, which Gabriel hoped would balance out the whole lack of teamwork.

Not his most elegant but still rather nice to look at, Gabriel decided.

Elise bit her lip. The hits just kept coming from these two! Boy were they on their toes! She wouldn't be deterred though. "Kyurie, use Lucky Chant!"

The Munna closed its eyes for a moment. When it reopened them they were a deep purple. It let out chilling cries and noises before falling silent.

Gabriel shivered, a bit unnerved. He shrugged it off, encouraging Ichorous with silent (and ridiculous) cheers.

"Dodge and use Charge!" cried Shara. The Emolga leaped into the air, spinning upwards whilst gathering electricity into it's cheek pouches. The static produced from the move combined with the spinning caused Claudia and Gabe's side to lose a few points.

"Tackle, Laurel!" yelled Claudia, "Use Vine Whip to reach Reito's height!"

A short nod from the Snivy showed that she acknowledged the commands. She then proceeded to use Tackle, speeding across the arena until she was directly below the Emolga. With movements that could rival the speed of light, Laurel used Vine Whip and the added momentum from the Tackle to propel herself up into the air. She span as she did so, creating a glowing display of white light.

"Reito! Thundershock!" yelled Shara. The Emolga flipped around, unleashing the charged energy towards the incoming Snivy. Claudia winced as she saw the electricity heading towards her Pokemon. She had no idea how Laurel could dodge it...
The Snivy kept focus on her destination as she continued travelling upwards. As she span, part of the electricity gathered around her creating an almost Volt Tackle-esque move. However, Laurel was taking serious damage from the electric type move, even whilst dealing damage to the Emolga upon impact of the accidental combination.

As points on both sides fell, Gabriel knew he had to get their team the lead back. He chewed on his bottom lip before ordering Ichorous to use his next move.

"Water gun at Laurel, help her out!"

The Oshawott shot a stream of water at the Snivy, encasing her in the transparent liquid. The electricity was already losing its charge by this point and even the addition of water didn't cause much of a shock. In fact, the water seemed to extinguish what little electricity remained in the air. The burst of water also gave Laurel an extra bit of speed.

"Now, Trump Card!"

Ichorous aimed the colorful cards at the Emolga this time, choosing to leave the Munna be as it was causing the least amount of trouble thus far.

Elise was rather irritated at being blatantly ignored before she realized that she could use this to her advantage. Hoping to take the trainer and Oshawott unprepared, Elise called out her next attack.

"Kyurie, use Psywave then Yawn!"

The Munna let out a small noise as it opened its mouth and released a rainbow hued beam of light towards Ichorous.

The Oshawott was caught unawares and bowled over, just as Elise had planned.

Kyurie then let out a yawn.

The soundwaves fell over Ichorous' ears and he felt himself grow weary, too weary to do much more than shoot an apologetic look at his trainer.

The burst of water was just what Laurel needed. The extra bit of power caused her to completely overpower the Emolga and he was thrown out of the air, colliding with the ground at quite a speed. It didn't take long to realise that Reito had been knocked out. Claudia suppressed a small whoop of delight as one of their opponents' Pokemon was defeated. Unfortunately, Laurel landed soon after, wincing in pain after the large dose of electricity. The Snivy looked like she was about to collapse after all that damage, but even then the look in her eyes proved it wasn't over yet.

Claudia frowned. She didn't want to cause her Pokemon any harm but she couldn't exactly pull out now. After that Yawn attack, Ichorous would be sleeping for at the very least a few minutes. She hoped Laurel could hold out until then.

"Laurel use Magical Leaf!"
Claudia was going to stick to distanced attacks, at least for now.

The Snivy nodded, summoning more leaves around her. Due to some good judgement on her part, she kept multiple leaves floating around her in a sort of shield, in anticipation of any incoming attacks.
The rest, sped towards the Munna with both speed and pinpoint precision.

Elise bit her lip and frowned as Reito hit the ground and didn't get back to his feet. This put more pressure on her and Kyurie but she wasn't about to give up now! "Alright, Kyurie! Psywave, again!"

Kyurie let out the rainbowfletic beam once more, this time towards the Snivy. It twisted and put on quite the show before finally reining in and aiming dead on at the grass Pokemon.

The Lucky Chant from earlier was helping the Munna now as she was faced with a barrage of enchanted leaves. While the leaves scraped and scratched at her, none cut her deep and inflicted too much damage.

Gabriel watched with bated breath, silently urging Ichorous to wake up and Laurel to hang in there.

Ichorous slept soundly, unable to wake up no matter how much he wanted to in that moment.

"Sni-vy," blinked Laurel.
"Leaf Shield! Deflect as much of the attack as you can!" called Claudia, determined to at least hold out so that she could wake Ichorous.

Laurel nodded and formed a large wall of leaves in front of her. As the beam pf psychic energy collided with the wall of leaves, Laurel used her energy to keep the wall intact, protecting herself. As she did so, her body began to glow with an eerie green light. The light from the newly learned Growth move reflected off of her body and onto the leaves in front of her, drenching them with the pale green light. These leaves became stronger as Laurel's SPecial Attack stat was raised along with her Special Defense stat.

With one final push of power and a loud cry of "Sni-VYYY", Laurel completely deflected the psychic type move, reflecting the energy off of the leaves. With some quick thinking, the Snivy used other leaves to reflect it again and again until the pulse of psychic energy was being reflected off of the leaves in a wide circle around the edge of the battlefield. The pinkish light continued to be reflected in this circle until it ran out of energy and disintegrated into pink wisps of energy. The leaves from the Magical Leaf quickly dispersed shortly after.

Claudia meanwhile was racking her brain for the name of the move Laurel had seemingly just learned.
What was it... wait.. Growth. That's it! she grinned.

Ichorous finally awoke at Laurel's loud outburst. He jolted to his feet, eager to attack.

"Alright, Ichorous!" Gabriel crowed with a grin. "Use Trump Card and work with Laurel's Vine Whip!"

The Oshawott leaped forwards, firing off dozens of rainbow colored cards. He nodded towards Laurel in a signal for her to shatter the cards and in doing so, create a colorful explosion of multicolored shards.

Elise knew things were starting to look bad for her and Kyurie but she pressed on. "Okay Kyurie, Defense Curl!"

The Munna curled into a small ball, a faint blue glimmer growing around her as her defense rose steadily.

Shara looked apologetically to Elise. Reito had now been returned to his Pokeball but she was stood next to her friend, unable to do anything to help whilst Claudia and Gabe racked in the points.

"Go Laurel, Vine Whip!"

With a short nod, the Snivy leaped back into action. Her body was still glowing faintly with the effects of the Growth move, so every twist and turn she made left a small trail of pale green light behind her. Laurel used Vine Whip, first shattering the Trump Cards into tiny, colourful shards. The Snivy then leaped into the air and whilst spinning to show off the light from Growth, used Vine Whip to hit the shards so that they shot in the direction of the curled up Munna.
