In all of Time and Space - Unova RP

Claudia wandered out of the house with a cheerful, "Byee!" to her mother and a quick wave. She carried with her a pale blue bag which no doubt stored some impressive amount of possessions in it. Claudia's long red hair hung loose, flowing out behind her as she skipped down the road of Nuvema Town and headed towards Professor Juniper's laboratory.
Today was the day she was going to start her Pokemon journey. Today was the day where she would finally get a Pokemon of her own!
Grinning to herself, she once again went through the three Pokemon that most new trainers in Unova chose from when they started their journeys.

There was Snivy, the grass type. Lithe, nimble and pretty cool by starter standards.
Secondly there was Tepig, the fire type. Tepig was kinda cute in Claudia's opinion, but having seen some of it's evolutions, she was less than keen to choose one. A previous run in with a trainer's angry Emboar had put her off of them and to be honest she still found it hard to be around them.
Last but not least, there was Oshawott, the water type. The first time Claudia had seen an Oshawott she had literally squealed at how adorable it looked. She couldn't believe it actually evolved into such a strong looking Pokemon.

Claudia was snapped from her thoughts when she realized that she had reached the laboratory. Gently, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

Unable to do anything in the split second she had before she was bombarded with the colorful shards, Kyurie simply took the hits. She uncurled from her ball as the barrage ended, eyes aflame.

Elise quickly decided her next move. "Alright Kyurie, Psywave like we practiced!"

The Munna, still retaining the faint blue glow, moved about the arena as she let out soft cooing noises. When she reached the center of the field she opened her mouth and let out a twisting beam of psychic energy. It danced about before splitting into two, one aiming itself towards Ichorous while the other aimed itself towards Laurel.

Ichorous observed the opposing trainer's points drop as her Pokemon took the hits steadily. He allowed himself a small feeling of pride before turning his attention back to the Munna who was moving about with a pale blue glimmer around herself. As the Psywave was unleashed, Ichorous waited for Gabriel's command.

"Quick, Ichorous! Fireproof Shield!"

Ichorous thought that this was a strange command but followed his trainer's orders. There was bound to be a good reason for this course of action. With this thought, the Oshawott threw his scalchop high in the air before shooting a jet of water at it. The water was reflected off of the shell and created a dome around him.

When the Psywave hit, the water took the blow almost entirely. The rainbow hued psychic energy caused the dome of transparent liquid to glimmer with iridescent colors. It bent the water into peculiar shapes but it stayed centered around the Oshawott. Ichorous inwardly praised Gabriel's quick thinking, even though it was experimental and could easily have failed.

Following Gabe's quick thinking, Claudia quickly called out to Laurel,
"Leaf Shield again! Reflect the psychic energy like earlier!"

The Snivy nodded, forming a shield of green Magical Leaves around her. Already the symmetry of the two moves would have caused their opponent to lose the lead that the split Psywave would have given her. But as the beam collided with the Leaf Shield, it split again, into lots of tiny beams. The angles of the leaves kept changing, reflecting the leaves at different angles to create a unique and quite beautiful spectacle to go with Ichorous' iridescent shield.

As the opposing team's points dwindled down to nothing, Ichorous let his shield dissolve into the ground before turning to Laurel and positively beaming. Gabriel was grinning rather wide as well and strode across the field to hold out his hand first towards Elise and then towards Shara. "It's a been a pleasure." He flashed a grin after shaking both of their hand and began walking back to where he had stood before.

Ichorous and Gabriel zoned out as the MC began announcing the winners and who was coming up next and so on and so forth. The duo jogged over to Claudia and Laurel with broad grins. "So, not half bad, eh?"

Claudia grinned as she realised that they had won and their opponents points had gone right down to zero. She did a little jump of joy before running over to Laurel and scooping her up.
The Snivy's leaves and the remnants of Psywave has disappeared already.

Claudia then proceeded to smile at their opponents, shaking their hands as Gabe had done.
"That was a great battle," she smiled before moving over to Gabe.

"I can't believe we won! You guys were so awesome!" Claudia grinned, looking to Laurel and Ichorous. The Snivy sat proudly on Claudia's shoulder as they headed away from the battleground.

"Anyhow. I guess we should go and get healed up. We could probably work on some techniques, 'cause I wanna battle with Loki in our next round..."

Gabriel nodded, gathering up Kobold and Tyson from behind the curtain and bringing them outside to the free space around the back.
"I'm thinking of using Tyson for this one." Gabriel announced when the group had reached the training area. The Lillipup let out an excited bark, wiggling around happily. Gabriel chuckled at the sight before looking back up to Claudia. "So how can we get this excitable little fellow to work with that trickster of yours?" Gabriel pulled out his Pokedex and scanned Tyson, showing Claudia the Lillipup's moveset. "What's Loki's moveset?" He inquired, looking down at the dark type curiously.

Claudia grabbed Celandine, Copper and Loki's Pokeballs and brought them along with her and Laurel as she headed towards the training area. Laurel, knowing that she wasn't going to battle in the next round, was quite content to sit and relax rather than spending her time in a Pokemon center. Claudia had gotten her some Oran Berries just in case though.

"Leer, Tackle and Fire Fang," Claudia reminded herself, looking at Tyson's moveset.
"Loki's moves are Dark Pulse, Fury Swipes, Fake Tears, Extrasensory... but we can always use Loki's illusion ability as well."

Gabriel nodded, keeping the moves in mind. "Alright then, let's get to training, eh?" He grinned and gestured to Kobold and Ichorous to step back and out of the way. Tyson dashed up in front of his trainer. "Let's start off with countering. Tyson, use Fire Fang!"

The Lillipup dashed forwards, flames licking at his jaws, and began the training session.

After a vigorous round of training Tyson had gained four levels and the move Bite. Gabriel was now sat down on the ground talking with Claudia about how they could use certain techniques to their advantage.

"Extrasensory alone is bound to make an excellent blocking move. If we could somehow combine Dark Pulse and Fire Fang that would make a great offensive move." Gabriel was listing ideas and counting them on his fingers as he waited for Claudia's input.

Claudia grinned back and made sure that Laurel, Celandine and Copper were out of the way before she commanded Loki to use Fury Swipes. She wanted to test out her Zorua's speed as if he was quick enough it was possible he could dodge the Fire Fang and land a hit.

"I'm quite glad we have psychic type move since they're quite versatile for attacking as well as defending.. but Dark Pulse and Fire Fang. Hmm. What if Loki used Dark Pulse along the ground and Tyson set it on fire with his fangs? We could use it as a long distance move."

Gabriel nodded vigorously. "That sounds brilliant actually." He grinned before falling silent once more as he thought up more ideas. "You know that idea we had about Celandine's Iron Tail and Tyson's Fire Fang? What if we did something similar to that but using Loki's Fury Swipes? If Tyson heats up Loki's claws they would inflict a lot more damage." Gabriel presented his idea with the flailing of his arms as he spoke animatedly. "We need to really play up the speed thing in this one." He mused after a moment.

"That sounds cool actually. Perhaps if we practiced with that combination, heating up the claws would take less time in the actual battle..." she replied, "We could experiment with that after, along with these other ideas."

She paused for a moment, "Hold on. What if we used Tackle with Extrasensory. Psychic moves are easy to control so with practice we could almost make it look like the psychic move is actually combined with the Tackle."

Gabriel grinned. "I like how you think. Combining two attacks without really combining them. Lovely!" Gabriel leaped to his feet. "Well, now's as good a time as any." He offered his hand to Claudia to help her up before walking over to one side of the field. "C'mon Tyson." He jerked his head towards the spot where he wanted his Lillipup to stand. The Pokemon let out a happy yip and trotted over to the space in front of his trainer.

"Alrighty then!" she grinned, taking Gabe's hand as she got to her feet. She then grinned, running with Loki towards the other side of the field.

"Okay Loki. We'll try the combinations imilar to the one with Celandine first so you can try and get used to the feeling. Fury Swipes!"
The Zorua nodded, his claws glowing white and extending outwards as he moved towards Tyson. He was quite fast, as were most of Claudia's Pokemon.

"Alright, Tyson, you heard her! Fire Fang!"

Tyson ran towards Loki, careful to move slow enough so he didn't impale himself on the Zorua's claws but fast enough that the combination was seamless. His jaws soon were aflame, oranges and reds and yellows flickering about around his scruffy snout. Opening his mouth, Tyson gently slid to a halt and clamped down on Loki's claws. He felt them growing hot beneath his grip and let go, hoping he hadn't hurt the other Pokemon.

Loki stepped back once his claws were heated, the white glow now orange in colour due to the heat. The Zorua blinked. He didn't seem to feel anything from them, and yet they looked so cool.

"Well that worked well at least. However if we used it during battle we'd need something to distract our opponents' attention whilst the claws are heated..." frowned Claudia.

Gabriel hummed in thought. "Perhaps you should have Loki send off a Dark Pulse or some other long range attack before hand. Then the opponent would be preoccupied with the incoming attack while we set up the Fury Swipes Fire Fang combination." Gabriel suggested this as the flames dwindled out of existence in Tyson's mouth.
