In all of Time and Space - Unova RP

Claudia wandered out of the house with a cheerful, "Byee!" to her mother and a quick wave. She carried with her a pale blue bag which no doubt stored some impressive amount of possessions in it. Claudia's long red hair hung loose, flowing out behind her as she skipped down the road of Nuvema Town and headed towards Professor Juniper's laboratory.
Today was the day she was going to start her Pokemon journey. Today was the day where she would finally get a Pokemon of her own!
Grinning to herself, she once again went through the three Pokemon that most new trainers in Unova chose from when they started their journeys.

There was Snivy, the grass type. Lithe, nimble and pretty cool by starter standards.
Secondly there was Tepig, the fire type. Tepig was kinda cute in Claudia's opinion, but having seen some of it's evolutions, she was less than keen to choose one. A previous run in with a trainer's angry Emboar had put her off of them and to be honest she still found it hard to be around them.
Last but not least, there was Oshawott, the water type. The first time Claudia had seen an Oshawott she had literally squealed at how adorable it looked. She couldn't believe it actually evolved into such a strong looking Pokemon.

Claudia was snapped from her thoughts when she realized that she had reached the laboratory. Gently, she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

"Copper, Gust!"

The Pidove was already ready and quickly hopped back into the air. She flew up high before she flapped her wings, creating a powerful gust of wind to guide the particles together. Copper then set to work, gracefully flying around the gust of wind to keep it in shape. When all the particles had been gathered into a small tornado near the ground, Claudia asked her to try and bring them upwards more. The Pidove obliged and used her wings and graceful flying to direct the gust upwards, bringing the multicoloured particles with it. Instead of staying in one large group, the particles spread out, creating a glittering colourful spiral within the Gust.

Claudia watched. She was in awe of the beauty that the bird Pokemon, along with Kobold's Wish move, had achieved. She then grinned, lost for words other than "Awesome!"

When Copper stopped her Gust attack, the harsh winds dissipated and the colourful spiral began to fall towards the ground. However, it kept in formation, slowly covering the ground with a glittering blanket.

"Gabe. What if we try it again and have Kobold stand in the middle and use Refresh?" she suggested.

Gabriel thought for a moment, envisioning the effect that might take place. "Let's do it!" He grinned and sent Kobold to the center of the clearing. "Use Wish!"

After waiting for a few moments after the incantation, the glittering particles began to fall again. Gabriel watched as they were swept together and into a multi-colored spiral surrounding the Audino. He smiled, becoming filled with the euphoria of a plan coming to fruition.

As the gust died down and the particles began to fall, he instructed Kobold to use Refresh. A soft green light began to emanate from the Audino. It grew bigger and brighter until it encased a large portion of the clearing. From within the Wish Tornado a single silhouette was visible. The particles glittered like lime green embers as the light from the Refresh shone bright. Suddenly the light disappeared and the particles had all vanished, fallen to the ground.

Gabriel stood in awe. He figured they could mess around with the timing a bit but otherwise.. It was beautiful. Absolutely and stunningly beautiful. He grinned slowly, turning to Claudia. "I think we've got ourselves a contest appeal."

Claudia nodded, grinning and clapping her hands together. She was impressed by their discoveries.
"That we do!"


With the excitement of the impressive contest appeal they now had prepared for the contest, they reached Striaton City within record time. It was even still light when they got there, which meant extra training time with their battle team; Ichorous and Laurel.

They reached the Pokemon Centre and Claudia got them each a room. Instead of being opposite this time, they were next door to each other. Claudia dumped her stuff in her room and handed Copper and Celandine's Pokeballs over to the nurse. She then went back outside to practice with Laurel and Ichorous for the battle rounds tomorrow.

Gabriel's routine was much the same as Claudia's. Except way less organized. He skipped up to his room, dumped all of his belongings in a messy pile, and then handed over the two Pokeballs of Tyson and Kobold. And then he rounded up the actual Pokemon and shoved them on the table too. Afterwards, he waved his goodbyes and headed back outside with Ichorous to meet up with Claudia and Laurel.

"So. We're going to do that Magical Leaf, Water gun thing.. What else?" Gabriel tilted his head to the side at the exact same moment as Ichorous. Needless to say, this irritated the Oshawott. He straightened up in record time, glaring at Gabe.

"I think we should come up with names for these combinations..." suggested Claudia suddenly. Laurel looked at her from her position on her shoulder.
"Like.. I think the Magical Leaf-Water Gun combination should be a Fireproof Leaf Shield... and the Wish-Gust combination should be called Wish Tornado..."
Claudia continued to name most of their combinations, including, 'Leaf Shield' and 'Fireproof Shield' for the separate instances of the Water Gun and Magical Leaf shields and then 'Sun Ray' for Copper's Morning Sun-Quick Attack combination.

"Anyhow.. back to the battle tactics.. I don't have any other ideas if I'm honest... perhaps we can just try a few things. Maybe use Laurel's agility and ability to do some awesome gymnastics to our advantage," she chuckled.

Gabriel nodded in agreement with most of Claudia's names. He added in his own input every so often and was satisfied with what they had when Claudia began the topic of battle tactics. He muttered to himself under his breath for a long time before piping up. "Well I agree with what you said about using Laurel's agility to our advantage. As for Ichorous, I think we should use his attack power. Laurel is quick, but Ichorous can land heavy hits. Perhaps we should have her go in first and attack and then have Ichorous back her up with his attacks?" Gabriel suggested this while scrolling through Ichorous' information on his Pokedex.

"I think that'll probably be our best option this time.. but we'll have to reqork it slightly after that otherwise people will know how to combat us and we'll end up defeated before the round has even begun...."
She looked around before turning back to Gabe.
"Maybe we can try a few things, then have a practice battle with one of the nurses?" she suggested.

Gabriel agreed with Claudia's concerns. "Hopefully we'll have learned new moves by the next contest. That way we can change it up a bit." At hearing her idea to have a practice battle, Gabe's eyebrows shot up. "You can do that!?" He sounded amazed. It was kind of hysterical, honestly. He bobbed his head up and down enthusiastically. "Let's do it!"

He and Ichorous made their way to the counter, one more quickly than the other. (Three guesses who.) Once they had reached the Nurse Joy, Gabriel loudly announced his reason for being there. "Could you do a practice battle with us," he pointed to himself and Claudia, " please?" His eyes were big and pleading.

The nurse chuckled and nodded. "Of course. We're here to help." She followed him out into the court yard. "Here." She released her Pokemon; An Audino and a Petilil.

Claudia laughed then followed Gabriel and the nurse back out to the pokemon center's battlefield. The nurse let out her two Pokemon; An Audino and a Petilil. Thanks to Kobold, Claudia already knew a lot about Audino, but not too much about Petilil. She had seen a few in her mothers care before. Enough to know that they were grass type and could be a little bit vain occasionally.... but other than that, nothing.

"Alright Laurel.. looks like you'll be facing your own type. Be careful out there."
She then paused and watched as the Snivy leaped down from her shoulder and onto the sandy ground of the battlefield.
"Sni-vy!" she cried, ready for the battle.

"Alright then.... quick start, get in there with Tackle!"
With a short nod, Laurel was off. She ran on all fours, her lithe body enabling her to dash across the field with incredible speed. She reached the Audino and barreled straight into it, knocking it over despite it's bigger size.

"Petilil! Leech Seed!"
Claudia didn't even need to wait to comprehend the move before she yelled her reply. As Nurse Joy shouted a command to her Audino, she was shouting another one at Laurel.
"Use your tail! Make sure that Leech Seed doesn't hit Ichorous!"

The Snivy quickly dashed away from the Audino before it could retaliate to her Tackle. She leaped right in the way of the Leech Seed as it sped towards the Oshawott. Quickly spinning around, she hit it with her tail, attempting to bat it away...

Gabriel warned Ichorous about the Petilil before using his first move. "Alright, Ichorous! Water Gun on the Audino, be sure not to hit Laurel!" At the exact moment that Laurel toppled the Audino, Ichorous ran forward and launched his attack. The Audino struggled to its feet only to be toppled over again by a jet of water. Turning, Ichorous spotted the Leech Seed attack.

"Ichorous! Use your scalchop to bat away those seeds!" Gabriel thought quickly before letting out this command. He was aware that the seeds would try to latch onto Laurel and was trying to get rid of them without having Ichorous touch them.

Ichorous threw the shell from his stomach at the seeds. Some of them were batted away, but with such a small shell he couldn't get all of them.

"Audino! Pound!" Ichorous heard the command but didn't react for a long moment. He quickly realized, however, that the Audino was heading towards him with a vengeance.

Gabriel bit his lip, thoughts rushing around in his head like a tornado. "Alright Ichorous! Use your Water Gun to propel yourself away!" He was hoping that this new tactic might move the Oshawott away faster than he could run.

Claudia cursed herself as one of the remaining few seeds latched onto Laurel's tail. She knew it would keep sapping health away but there was no way to pry it off without leaving herself open to attack.

"Are you alright Laurel?" she asked, the Snivy nodding in reply.

"Petilil! Sleep Powder!"
Grinning, Claudia had a plan for this one. The Petilil's shining white powder came drifting towards the Snivy and Cludia didn't hesitate with her new command.
"Tail again! Kick up the sand from the battlefield and blow the powder away!" she yelled.

Laurel did just that, beating her leafy tail on the ground and kicking up sand. It obscured the Petilil's vision as well as flicking the powder back in it's face. The grass type soon fell asleep, leaving Laurel with some time to remove the seed from her tail.

Once the seed was gone, Claudia was feeling confident once more.
"Vine Whip! Hit them both at once!"

Another short nod later and two long vines were extending from Laurel's back. They picked up the Petilil before tossing her towards the Audino, hoping to damage both of Nurse Joy's Pokemon at once.

The Water Gun propulsion idea worked nearly as well as Gabriel had hoped. He grinned, internally bouncing around. "Trump Card!" He called out. "Try and work with Laurel on this one!"

Ichorous ran closer to Laurel. "Osha! Wooott. Oshaaa!(Hey! Do that thing with your vines. Maybe we can hit them with the shards!)" His explanation was vague but it was all he could squeeze in in the heat of battle. He quickly used Trump Card, hoping Laurel would follow along.

Gabriel watched their teamwork closely, practically biting his nails wondering what would happen next.

Claudia nodded, thinking along the same lines as Ichorous with the Trump Card move.
"Laurel, Vine Whip on those Trump Cards!"

"Sniivy~"
With what looked like no effort, the Snivy used her vines to hit the trump cards. she leaped into the air as she did so, getting close enough to hit the cards with such force that it sent a spray of colourful shards from the cards shooting towards both the Audino and the Petilil.

"Nice work you two!" shouted Claudia. That combination looked like it would work pretty well during a contest battle, hopefully gaining them a few points.

Gabriel grinned and practically applauded the two Pokemon. He opened his mouth to issue the next attack when the Nurse Joy spoke.

"Audino! Pound, once more! Petilil, Absorb!" The Audino rushed towards Laurel whilst the Petilil stood still. It closed it's eyes and began to glow a dull green. Its eyes opened and flashed as it sent a wavy beam of green light towards Ichorous.

"Ichorous! Watch out!" Gabriel thought quickly. Suddenly, a metaphorical light bulb went off in his head. Perhaps the scalchop barrier idea would work for this as well! "Ichorous! Fireproof Shield!"

Ichorous spotted the green light and hurriedly threw his scalchop in the air. He shot a jet of water at it, hoping for the best. The water bounced off and surrounded the Oshawott in a dome. The green light was mostly blocked. A minuscule amount did find its way in, however, and leeched a bit of the Oshawott's health. The Petilil was healed a bit.

"Quickly Laurel! Leaf Shield! Point the ends out!"

The Snivy used Magical Leaf and blocked the Audino's attack with her leafy shield. The edges of the leaves were curled slightly so that when the Audino collided with then, he was the one taking the damage rather than Laurel. The Audino staggered backwards, having not expected the shield to do it any harm.

"Split the leaves and use them to your advantage!"

Whilst the Audino was close, Laurel moved in. She controlled the Magical Leaf using her mind and they headed straight for the Audino.
Nurse Joy called out for Audino to use Doubleslap, but the physical move could only do so much against the leaves without injuring him in the first place...
