Fire and Ice - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Fire and Ice   Fire and Ice - Page 3 EmptyThu Feb 05, 2015 3:23 am

First topic message reminder :

Mission Details:

The eternally frozen Icicle Woods were a beautiful sight, one that would look great in a picture.  However, most would likely find that it didn't feel quite as nice as it looked, what with the low temperature.  Of course, this meant nothing to Ice Types who could ignore if not enjoy the cold weather and fully enjoy the sights available.  Though one particular Ice Type found it difficult to enjoy the area even with the typing advantage.

Too many bad memories.  It seemed like every time Sova the glaceon came to the Icy Lands something awful happened to him.  So why was he here?  It was surely because he had a mission.  It was as simple as that.  This mission had a good reward and was in an environment easy for him to handle, that was all there was to it.  No underlying meaning, he assured himself.

But what if there was?  He couldn't help but feel that he'd come here for a different reason that he was denying.  Perhaps hoping to find some closure.  Or maybe to face his demons.  Maybe he just wanted to prove to some invisible force that he wasn't weak and cowardly.  Or maybe he was just feeling extremely confused for no reason.

The houndour's mouth releasing a Flamethrower was all Sova needed to consider this a fight. Far too angered at this point to care about being hurt, he simply walked through the flurry of fire, ignoring what of the heat that could get past the subzero atmosphere around him and his frozen fur. Feeling the fire beginning to eat through his icy protective coat, he quickly raised himself onto his front paws and brought his tail down in front of him, attempting to slam his still slightly spiky tail into the houndour's head.

The hound yelped as the tail instead hit his shoulder as he attempted to leap into his own flames with crackling electricity at his jaws. He was attempting to at the least blind the glaceon with the flames, and then leap through them with Thunder Fang. His sparking jaws opened as he attempted to take advantage of the glaceon being close to latch onto the neck. It was always vital to go for the neck when fighting, it was the fastest way to take something down.

Noting the houndour's mouth opening and crackling with electricity, Sova froze the fur around his neck as much as he could through the fire, preparing himself to at least do damage back to the houndour if he failed to stop the attack. At the same time, he fired an Ice Beam, aiming for the houndour's open mouth in the hopes of ceasing his approach. If all else failed, at least he would be able to stop the houndour from holding to his neck and do some damage back with his cactus-coat, even if its effectiveness was....mitigated from the fire. If it was a Fire Fang coming at him, he would surely have had to dodge, but since this attack wasn't Fire-Type, he was confident his protective needle fur would hold up if it came to that.

The houndour ducked under the ice beam and attempted to latch onto the glaceon's throat, the ice spikes harming him. He yelped and released, a smog erupting from this throat once more while he recoiled and backed away. He then cut off the smog and used Flamethrower to ignite the smog once more, repeating the attack from earlier he had done by mistake. The smog did not have as big of a radius however, the houndour was getting weaker, and all he could think about was ignoring the pain and attacking with all he could.

Just as expected, biting a cactus didn't seem to go over too well for the houndour. While Sova received a bit of the shock, the houndour hadn't gotten a tight enough grip or held on for long enough to do much. It seemed that more of the familiar smog was released from the hound's mouth after being harmed. Perhaps this was out of reflex and he didn't know how to control it yet.

The glaceon leaped back from the smog, remembering what had happened last time and not finding being in the radius of it again to be particularly appealing. He used Quick Attack to get as far away from it as possible, which only lasted for a few seconds before it erupted in flame. Luckily he'd gotten out of the way of it, barely feeling the heat. Wasting no time, he darted around the field of fire with Quick Attack and charged straight into the houndour with his fur all nice and spiky, hoping to tackle him assisted by the needle-fur and end up on top of him.

(Note- he's using Quick Attack, not Tackle. That was just a better way to describe it.)

The hound turned quickly towards the Glaceon, reacting swiftly and letting loose a Flamethrower in hopes of melting the icicles before leaping into the flames, hoping to strike the glaceon head on with yet another Thunder Fang. He failed however, the flames had been done, but the glaceon had smashed into him before he could use Thunder Fang and sent him flying into the tree he had rammed into earlier on accident rather than the glaceon ending up on top of him. The houndour fell to the ground, snow falling from the tree above and submerging him in a blanket of snow.

The fire, yet again, proved to simply not be powerful enough to do much to Sova with his icy protective coat. It did make his fur....less painful than he'd expected, but he'd managed to make contact with the houndour nonetheless. The fact that the houndour had charged at him while the fire was obscuring his vision made it difficult to pin the brute, but he seemed like he would probably have a headache at the very least, what with being knocked into a tree and all.

As he approached the mound of snow formerly known as a houndour, he noticed something more than snow had been knocked loose and had begun to fall. Icicles, which he knew from recent experience were not pleasant to be hit by. "Look out!"

Unfortunately, the hound had been knocked out. He was unable to hear the glaceon's warning and was still under the snow that had piled on top of him. Zera could only lie there, lost in the darkness of unconsciousness as the Quick Attack combined with the collision against the tree had been enough to knock out the stubborn mutt. The icicles raced towards his body, just waiting to impale him and put an end to his life.

Sova sighed and shook his head. "After I save him, I'm gonna kill him", he thought to himself as he darted to the tree with his Quick Attack, freezing his tail fur and smacking the icicles away before they could reach the unconscious houndour. He took a moment to pant at having to rush to the tree to stop his enemy from being impaled before checking to see if the houndour was even alive.

He poked the pile of snow with a paw and tried to move some of the snow out of the way. "Earth to Mr. Houndour. Wake the hell up before I leave you to get impaled." He said to the unconscious canine.
Why was he even doing this? The houndour had attacked him, why was he helping an enemy? Accursed morality.

PostSubject: Re: Fire and Ice   Fire and Ice - Page 3 EmptySun Feb 08, 2015 8:08 pm

The hound finally returned to conscious, his mind dazed as he could barely register what was going on, "Ow..." he groaned. He forced himself up, his side hurting like hell, "wha..." he was about to ask what had happened, forgetting about the fight before it had all come rushing back to him. He gave a huff of fire, looking down at the ground in anger, avoiding eye contact with the Glaceon. It was stronger than him, it had beaten him. He was angry with himself for being knocked out so easily, just how could he lose to an Ice Type!? How pathetic was he!? However, he felt strangely energized, having accidentally swallowed a reviver seed in the snow

Why the fuck are there things like reviver seeds in a barren land of snow anyways?

As the houndour returned to consciousness, Sova moved his paw away. He felt oddly relieved. Sure, the houndour had attacked him and thus they were enemies, but he for some reason felt relieved his enemy was not dead. Perhaps he was not quite as cut out for a criminal life as he thought, what with his morality still existing. At least that would help him choose what he wanted to do with his life in the end. Staying with the guild seemed like the best option.

"I believe the words you are looking for are "Thank you." You'd be pierced full of icicles right now if not for me." He said to the houndour, trying to inform him while having some fun with him at the same time.

Wait...so not only had this Ice type BEATEN him, but SAVED his life as well? Fantastic. The hound huffed, "Thanks...boss.."
He hated that last word. His ears were flat as he glared at the ground, obviously unhappy about this. It was the rule of nature, he had been defeated, he was not stronger and thus could not order the glaceon around. The houndour knew that he must now obey the Glaceon's...well, not EVERY command, but he knew that he couldn't just tell the ice type what to do like he would rather have done. He seemed to have calmed down significantly once more, the fight and anger being beaten out of him.

Sova tilted his head and gave a confused look at the houndour's comment. Boss? What was that supposed to mean? Perhaps just a mannerism or speech pattern that was common where ever this houndour came from? It still seemed odd for the houndour to be so....polite? What ever it was, it was odd, especially after he'd previously been so rude and hostile. Maybe he was scared? He didn't seem scared so much as disappointed, though.

"Er....boss?" He verbally showed his confusion, figuring simply asking the hound about it would be better than pondering what he'd meant.

The hound huffed in anger, now this guy was going to shove it in his face by making him explain it? He sighed and spoke what had normally been repeated when an opponent was defeated in his pack.

"You have defeated me, and thus I cannot force my will unto you. I must follow your commands less risk death, the only exceptions being that of life threatening situations, requests of ill intent I do not agree with, and orders of self harm and humiliation."

He seemed almost mechanical in doing so, having repeated this to his pack leaders many many times whenever he had challenged the houndoom to battle. He had also heard this speech from his different brothers and sisters from the pack, he having been the strongest in it, the speech was practically ingrained into his mind, it was considered a humiliation to repeat it. Although, the houndour was not aware that this was not this land's customs.

"Uuuh....  Okay then.  Furnace Peak's that way."  Sova said, pointing a paw in the general direction of the Eastern Desert.  It wasn't going to be a short walk for the houndour, nor was it likely to be very fun, but at least now he could get on with his goal.

With that out of the way, the glaceon began walking in a randomly picked direction, remembering he had a mission to do.  Find a petilil.  In this type of environment, that seemed easy enough.  Hopefully, he would be done with this mission in no time and able to get back to Grassveil and take even more missions.
