Fire and Ice

Mission Details:

The eternally frozen Icicle Woods were a beautiful sight, one that would look great in a picture.  However, most would likely find that it didn't feel quite as nice as it looked, what with the low temperature.  Of course, this meant nothing to Ice Types who could ignore if not enjoy the cold weather and fully enjoy the sights available.  Though one particular Ice Type found it difficult to enjoy the area even with the typing advantage.

Too many bad memories.  It seemed like every time Sova the glaceon came to the Icy Lands something awful happened to him.  So why was he here?  It was surely because he had a mission.  It was as simple as that.  This mission had a good reward and was in an environment easy for him to handle, that was all there was to it.  No underlying meaning, he assured himself.

But what if there was?  He couldn't help but feel that he'd come here for a different reason that he was denying.  Perhaps hoping to find some closure.  Or maybe to face his demons.  Maybe he just wanted to prove to some invisible force that he wasn't weak and cowardly.  Or maybe he was just feeling extremely confused for no reason.

Furnace Peak?
The houndour lifted his head from the ground, finding himself in the midst of a winter wonderland. He huffed, definitely not furnace peak. He had been trying to find his way there on his own, following different scents until he managed to stumble across the right one that would lead him to his new territory.

Zera huffed, a puff of flame emitting from his jaws to punctuate his frustration. No way was he going to live here! It was so...wintery. He moved onward, just where was that damned peak? He put his nose back to the ground, this time following a fresher scent, maybe it'll bring him to a pokemon that he could force directions out of if they didn't give it willingly...

Sova approached one of the frosty trees and sat in the snow next to it, leaning against it to take a rest. He looked up into the icy branches to enjoy the view, suddenly feeling a bit awkward by being impaled if any of the icy spikes on the branches were to detach and fall onto him. But he figured if he kept an eye on them, he could avoid them if any fell. No problem.

The snow felt good to the glaceon, his body being built for the cold. He was able to turn himself and the area around him freezing without feeling too cold himself, so of course the snow didn't bother him. He felt so content, that he decided to shift from sitting to laying down for a minute. He could roll out of the way of any falling icicles....it was no worry.

The houndour kept going...and going...and going...and going. Until finally, the fresh seemed brand new, he began to run. His nose still on the ground as he dashed towards the source of the scent. He failed to notice the tree in front of him, and crashed into it. The tree gave a vicious shake as the houndour accidentally head-butted the tree. The icicles above the glaceon began to shake, until finally several of them detached and began plummeting towards the ground, and towards him. They seemed to be just waiting to impale the fox's nice soft fur...

Sova looked up at the tree as it was shook, which resulted in a rain of icy spikes. "Oh dear." He commented to himself as he rolled out of the way of the spikes, narrowly avoiding being impaled. As he stood to his feet, he noticed a red spot in the snow....from a gash on his side. One of the spikes had managed to graze him, just great. What was responsible for this?

He surveyed the area to see a houndour. "Hey, dude, are you trying to get me impaled?" He questioned the hound, clearly a bit annoyed and showing it in his tone. He now had a wound he had to put up with. Just great. Hopefully this houndour wasn't going to be a problem to him.

Rather than getting a sensible answer, the houndour had merely backed up from the tree, teetering back and forth comically before forcing himself to sit down.
"Oww..." he spoke, lifting a paw to head head, trying to suppress the pain the collision had caused. He shook his head and looked up to see just what he had hit. He gave a huff, "stupid tree, getting in the way."

He then looked to see a glaceon staring at him, as if he had asked a question, "What are you lookin at?" he challenged the ice type, thinking that he was staring at him as if he had been some idiot that just ran directly into a tree, even though that was what he had actually done.

Sova watched the dazed houndour, waiting for it to reply. By the way the hound spoke, it seemed he had no clue he'd just almost turned the glaceon into a living pincushion.... Or perhaps a dead pincushion. Not the good kind where he froze his fur into needles either. He shrugged at the fire dog's response. "Well, I THINK I'm looking at an idiot who just almost got me killed." He said as he showed his wounded side. "Care to tell me differently?" He questioned.

The glaceon began lowering his body temperature in preparation for a fight, thinking this houndour seemed hostile. If he attacked, the glaceon would need to mitigate the damage of any Fire Type attacks as much as possible.

"Idiot!?"the hound our snarled , obviously offended about the insult. He gave a snarl before letting a breath of fire loose before him, burning the ground between him and the glaceon in attempt to intimidate Sova. The fire type's ears folded back as he glared, "you have 30 seconds to apologize before I burn your face off!"
How dare this...whoever it was call him the idiot?
"YOU'RE the idiot if you think being under a bunch of sharp hard objects is a good idea!" The houndour's snarl continued, his teeth bared as he waited for the apology.

Sova looked down to the burnt ground in front of him, then directed his gaze back to the houndour and gave a bored and unamused look. "I bet you think I'd be an easy fight because you've got the type advantage, right?" He spoke as he approached the feisty houndour.

"I'll make you a deal. You run off and I'll forget about this little incident, you'll get to live. How's that sound?" He "offered" to the hound. In reality, he was just waiting for this houndour to attempt to actually fight him, to give him an excuse to attack. The burnt ground glazed over with frost as he neared it due to his body temperature decreasing.

"Run? You mean like a coward?" The houndour snarled, looked as if he were about to attack. He opened his jaws, ready to leap at the glaceon and go for the throat. Just as he was about to jump, something landed on his back. He gave a yelp as a Delibird landed on his back, he tried to look behind him to see what had mounted him as if he were a horse, but a metal bar was hooked into his mouth that was similar to that of a bridal.

He looked back to the Glaceon, seeing that a delibird had landed on top of the glaceon too, and shoved the metal-bar-bridle thing in his mouth as well.

"Woohoo! We got ourselves some helpers!" his delibird cried.

Sova opened his mouth to laugh at the houndour's new unfortunate situation, but was silenced as he found his mouth to be on the receiving end of a bridle. Suddenly this situation seemed a lot less funny. He couldn't decide whether to be overwhelmed with confusion, embarrassment or anger. In the end, he landed on anger.

"I mm mot a gogoath!" The glaceon attempted to speak as he pulled against the bridle and spun in a circle in an attempt to fling the hitchiking bird off of him, but to no avail.

"Wooah, mine's a little feisty! Down boy!" His respective delibird exclaimed.

Seeing that just trying to shake the parasite off wasn't working too well, the glaceon changed his plan and began freezing his fur into needles. For a moment, there was no response from the delibird. Then it shouted in pain and leaped off of him, being met not with the ground but with a whack from his now-spiky tail, which knocked it into a tree trunk. He then spit the derogating bridle out of his mouth, noticing that he had been biting onto it in his anger.

"YOUR'S IS FIESTY-AAAAHAHAHA!" the delibird that had hopped on top of Zera cried. The houndour had managed to buck the delibird off by launching himself into a tree, using the bird to cushion him and the tree. Zera had then tossed it about using the bridle, as it seemed to refuse to let go, he finally spat out the metal cylinder, and chasing the bird about with flames at the behind of its tail like pursuing dogs. The delibird screamed in mid-sentence as Zera managed to catch the end of its tail, burning it and causing it to run faster. The brute did not seem too keen on letting his captor go so easily as he continued to chase him around. The delibird led him in circles, trying to tire him out and determined to get its steed back despite the obvious disapproval of it.

Sova couldn't help but pause for a moment to watch the spectacle of the houndour chasing one of the delibirds in circles. Why did these little birds decide to try to mount two random civilians? What reason could they possibly have? Perhaps they were just insane. Either way, they were definitely getting what they deserved now.

Slowly, the glaceon approached his respective delibird who was still struggling to its feet after being knocked into a tree. "What part of you decided I looked like a free ride?" He questioned to the bird.

"The part that saw a quadruped." The delibird replied as it finally found traction on the ground and charged towards the glaceon. "Now be a good-" The bird was silenced by the glaceon's tail tripping it, followed by his paw shoving its face into the snow.

"Shut uuuuuuuuuuup." He groaned as he held the flailing delibird's head to the ground.

While the glaceon handled his Delibird, the houndour managed to roast his own delibird's behind so much that the fur on it was dark with burns. The delibird could take no more and forced itself into the snow, trying to soothe the burn with the snow on the floor of the forest. Zera took advantage of this, and leaped into the bird with crackling fangs as he used Thunder Fang. The delibird cried out in pain as electricity coursed through its body, before collapsing with its smoldering behind in the frozen air.

Sova held his respective delibird's head to the ground, pressing down harder and harder until the flailing movements stopped, signaling him it was passed out from suffocation and he could now let go. The snow worked wonders for suffocating enemies, it turned out. It seemed the houndour had handled the other delibird as well. Now they could get back to their....conversation.

"Well, that happened. So where were we?" He questioned the houndour, curious if the hothead still wanted to pick a fight with him. He wasn't unwilling to accommodate his new acquaintance if that was the case, but he wasn't going to just attack until given reason to.
