Light and Dark

Myrriou was exhausted again, she had no idea how she managed to get herself in a place like this.

Trekking the mountainside was the small creature, she had been on the road now, on a quest for more days than she could count anymore. It had just reached nightfall, the already dark mountain got darker as the sun in the sky ceased to light the path for anyone who braved the environment. Wind howled softly, stars lit up what little was left of the sky. Myrriou couldn't not rest now, her mission was to find something better for herself, but for right now, this definitely wasn't the place to be.

She sat on a rock gathering her bearings and getting a view on what little she could see with only a little light left, it didnt look good, but she followed the rough outline of a path that was made by Pokemon traveling the mountain before her.

Sentinel was kind of ticked off. Not that anything in particular was bugging him, but this adventure was not turning out as expected. Rocky terrain sounded easy for him, since he had spent most of his life in the harshest parts of the desert. But this place wasn’t easy. It was a long trek to get here, and now that he’d arrived there were boulders and stones towering around him and messing up his ability to float. Floating would make climbing easy if he didn’t constantly run his sides into his surroundings.
Second to that, there was no one here. When Sentinel heard the prospect of climbing a tall, intimidating mountain, he thought there would be others climbing it too. He thought he’d be braving the elements with a whole legion of hardened mountaineers! All that he’s found so far, however, are these-- Sentinel bumps into a rather pointy stone-- god damn rocks!
“I need to tough it out. I’m used to being alone. This is about getting stronger.” Sentinel drew in a deep breath and started to light himself up. It was getting misty, and the sun was setting. He’d need to use himself to light his path from here on out.
Eventually, Sentinel found what vaguely looked like a path leading toward the massive mountain. Still not very impressed, he began to follow it up to the base of Black Mist Mountain.

Myrriou sighs, the uneventful journey was taking its toll on the small Pokemon, bored out of her mind and hungry, she follows the path down hoping to find something. She sees something light up futher down the path, a bit startled by it she freezes in place, looking at it. "Is that, aother Pokemon..?" She asks herself aloud, and if her eyes aren't deceiving her it is another Pokemon, shaped like the sun.

Myrr ducks behind some rocks, moving down the path slowly that way, scared that even though it looks odd in this place, that the light up rock might not be too friendly towards her. She gets herself ready to use her ancient power in case anything goes wrong during the confrontation.

Just as he was about to start verbally harassing the rocks around him, Sentinel noticed something that excited him. Am I imagining it… footsteps? The rocky terrain made walking around silently a difficult operation, and while they were very quiet, Sentinel was put somewhat on alert. He listened as he kept going down the path.

Those were definitely footsteps, and they were suspiciously quiet. Something was following him, probably a feral. Finally, something exciting, Sentinel thought to himself. If it was a feral, he didn’t want to let them get the first attack on him.
Swiftly, Sentinel extinguished his light. The path was covered suddenly by the darkness of the night, making seeing impossible. Under this cover Sentinel began hovering amidst the boulders, scanning with his psychic powers for an emotional reading. He figured that by using Mind’s Eye, he’d be able to see better in the darkness than them.
It didn’t take too long. Going in the direction of the footsteps lead him straight to a clear target. He sensed some tension and some fear. This Pokemon was on edge, much more than he was. Perhaps they weren’t planning to pick a fight with him? Still, he couldn’t be too careful. Moving towards the reading, bumping into painful rocks in the dark, Sentinel called out ”Friend or foe?” from his veil of shadow. He was lonely, and hoped maybe they’d answer friend. However, he knew that if they answered foe, or if his Mind’s Eye picked up hostile intentions, he’d have to light up and attack. As quietly and possible, Sentinel awaited a response.

Myrriou slows down her breathing, maybe if it couldn't hear her, but when she hears its voice she knows her cover is blown. Taking a moment to collect her thoughts and breath in case this ended up with either of them unconscious.

Myrriou stands up quickly, amassing huge boulders in the air, her hand and boulders glowing purple pointing them in the directing of the light up rock. She was startled, but wasn't going to let anyone harm her again, she wasn't too sure wether or not it was an enemy to her. It spoke, so might not be feral, but didn't exclude it from being one of those dirty bandits. Her voice was shaky, but loud and her face sported a scowl, though its couldn't easily be seen in this light. "Neither! Until I know who you are." She was close to hurdling the rocks at it anyways, but held herself just enough to keep it from happening.

Sentinel lit up to reveal a female Mawile standing there, hoisting up a threatening Ancient Power. He didn’t read any hostile intent within the small creature, and from her actions could tell she wasn’t feral. ”Relax. I’m not your enemy,” Sentinel said, fully illuminating himself for her to see. ”My name is Sentinel, and I’m just another exploring Pokemon.”
So this was a Mawile... very short but impressively powerful. Those rocks would be hard even for him to float, and he was a rock type. Sentinel hoped very much that she would believe him, and that he wouldn't need to defend himself against that kind of force. Not only that, but those huge jaws on the back of her head certainly didn't look too fun to fight, either, and he would much rather not be on the receiving end of a bite from them.
He glided softly towards her, keeping an eye on the boulders. ”And… preferably, I’d like to say I’m your friend. Friends are good to have, no?” He tried to sound as least threatening as possible, small red eyes not glowing with heat as they do when he’s angry.

Myrriou stares him down for awhile, studying the look of the Solrock, she had seen one of his kind before but had never interacted with one, gritting her teeth she turns and fires off the rocks off into another mountainside, causing an audible boom as they collide with the mountain. The jaws attatched to her head water angrily but, as far as you could tell calm down.

The Mawile crosses her arms, looking at him for a moment and responding soon enough, her loud voice turns very quiet when she isn't being threatened and snuck up on. Friends did he say? She thinks to herself. "Maybe.. but for now, you scared the nerve out of me, sneaking up like that, I thought you wanted to hurt me.." She completely ignores the fact she did it first, but that was irrelevant, he was in trouble unless he said anything about it, then in that fact, she would have no idea how to respond. "You shouldn't do that to Pokemon.

Sentinel sighed, feeling bad for scaring the traveler. He had to approach her this way, though. She could have been a threat to him. ”S-sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you that much.” He says carefully, floating before her and analyzing her emotions. She wasn’t satisfied with… something. Or maybe it was everything? ”You can’t be too careful in rough places like these, though.”
Sentinel wasn’t sure how to deal with this girl, exactly. It would help him out a lot to have her power further along the mountain’s path... but he didn’t know if he could get her to trust him. Judging from the scar on her face and her generally unhappy emotional state, this one has probably had a hard life.
If I piss her off she might do something crazy… but she seems like a pretty sweet individual. Sentinel thought to himself.
”What are your plans?” Sentinel finally asked. ”It’s getting dark, and we’re only at the base of the mountain. Are you planning to explore this place tonight? If you are, you should come with me. It’ll be a lot easier as a team. I need your strength, and you could definitely use my light… and if nothing else, I’ll be there to protect you.”Sentinel said quite seriously, trying to earn her trust.

Myrr tilts her head a bit, confused by the Pokemon's immediate trust of her like that, something that she really wasn't used to. The scar on her face looks more like a gash that never healed properly, it really does make a statement itself. She doesnt know what to think about this situation, she really didnt want to be alone, and the Solrock almost sounds like it was trying to order her. She looks at Sentinal, trying to judge some sort of facial expression feeling like an idiot when its face showed almost nothing in the way of emotion. Myrr would follow for now seeming like it might be a good idea, and besides, she doesn't want to know what would happen if she didn't accept, still thinking he might be a bandit of sorts.

Myrr walks up close to the Solrock, looking up at him. "Ill come with you, Mister. You aren't as bad as other Pokemon." She cracks a light smile, paying attention to the face of the Solrock as if trying to get at least some sort of expression out of him.

Sentinel blinked, sensing a bit of strangeness in her response. She was still pretty worried about his intentions, but he guessed that couldn’t be helped. He’d had a lonely past, and so was aware that his charisma was probably pretty bad. ”I’m glad you’re able trust me.” he said, trying to sound reassuring.
After a short walk down the same rugged path, and after bumping into a few more stone spires on the way like a fool, the mighty base of the mountain was right before him. My, this is one of the most intimidating structures I’ve ever seen… thought the Solrock, looking for a good way to scale beast before them. He began lighting himself up more and more, doing his best to clear the thick mist and let the duo see. ”Which way to do think’ll be safest? We’re both trying to reach the top, right?” he asked, spinning a bit to create heat and burn off some of the fog.
No matter which way they went, it seemed like risky business. There were crevices where they could get stuck, pits Myrr could fall into, and every other sort of hazard. The black rocks seemed to be mocking him by absorbing his light and making vision super hard even with Arid Lantern active.

Myrriou wasn't sure if she could trust him fully, but was too tired of being alone and lost on the damned mountain to trust anyone else. Though the light was barely there, she always kept an eye out for something to keep her going as much as she could. "Why are you here, going to the top for what?" She asks, curious to the intentions of her new found friend, she knew herself that she was not going to the top, in fact she had no idea where she was going, but following the sun shaped rock was a better idea than none. "I myself am not going to the top, if I'm being honest, I have no idea where I'm going.." She sighs, her head hanging down. "I'm Myrriou, by the way, I heard rumors of a famous guild in a town called Grassveil, though my only problem is, I have no idea where it is.."

Grassveil… Sentinel had heard of such a place before, though he’d never actually been there himself. A guild, though? He had no idea what a guild was-- though would it be foolish to ask the Mawile? Yes, obviously it would be. Apparently it was quite a famous place, afterall…
”I’ve heard of Grassveil Town before.” said Sentinel. ”But I think that you’re very much in the wrong place for going there. It’s actually a place I’d like to see myself, so how about we shift gears…” Sentinel stopped moving just as they approached a good place to start ascending the huge mountain. ”Other than adventure, I don’t really have any need to scale this thing. So instead of going up to the peak, let’s try to cut through it somehow and make our way to Grassveil.” Sentinel’s eyes lit up in a warm way, his glow surrounding the duo in a soft haze of light as the fog continued to roll in.
Not climbing Black Mist was probably a fine idea anyway, considering how late it was getting and how hard it was to see. No doubt there would be many dangers ahead, so finding this town instead seemed to be a smart plan. Maybe he’d be able to earn this Pokemon’s trust on the way? Though probably not, considering how cautious she was being. Sentinel sensed a sort of painful doubt tugging at the Mawile’s heart, and she rarely looked him right in the eye. From the gash on her nose he guessed that she’d encountered danger a lot in her life. This was also probably why she possessed such surprising power.
I think she wants to trust me… but can’t. Sentinel figured that it was a smart way to live… albeit a rather lonely one. If it was danger she feared, though, it was his job to protect her from it! After all, he was still set on his resolution to become a light of hope in the lives of others. Perhaps someone is following her…? Attacking her, maybe. If that’s the case, she shouldn’t make the journey to town alone.
”Hahaha! I don’t need any response,” Sentinel said cheerfully, trying to be welcoming.”We’re going to Grassveil together, that’s the best option. We’re teammates until we get you to… what was it? The guild? Until you’re there safely, you have to accept my escort! That’s the rule, Myrriou!” Sentinel smiled… well, tried to smile, and began lighting the way up the steep mountain path. Was he being too pushy? Sentinel figured that was probably the only way to get her to listen to him and not argue, so he shrugged it off as necessary.
The darkness was growing thicker, and surely this road was a hazardous one. As they moved, Sentinel was pinched by a small tingle, for his Mind’s Eye could detect very faint hostile vibes from deep within the rocks. Ferals lived in this mountain, and because of his light at least a few would notice them and attack. Befriending the Myrriou might have to wait, because it’ll be hard enough just to get them both to the other side in one piece… but he had to do it.

Energy= 6 - 4=2 (Fight with Lairon will cause this in future.)

Myrriou was a bit surprised by the Solrock's sudden forwardness, if she was being honest to herself, it made it much easier to trust him now. The Mawile scratched her nose, wincing at causing a bit of pain from the old scar, but followed the Solrock without a word for a bit, because she didn't have any she was speechless that through this convoluted journey she had finally managed to find someone that wasnt out to get her or simply didn't care yet. It made her feel warm inside.

Myrriou finally snaps out of her little trance of wondering about things to herself silently, her voice having gotten a bit quieter when she speaks now. "Uh, um, I go with you, for sure, yeah!" She says, getting herself more excited to the idea of adventuring with someone new, especially someone as interesting as this one. She could have sworn she saw the slightest smile on the Pokemon's face, and that made her grin. It was rock solid evidence that this could actually be a partnership that lasts a long time.

Softly, Sentinel laughed a little to himself. His glow became more confident, for he felt like maybe he’d made a friend. The Mawile wasn’t so tense anymore, and despite how suddenly the two met maybe she was starting to develop a feeling of trust. ”We’ll be in Grassveil in no time!” Said sentinel cheerfully. All was surprisingly smooth, with Arid Lantern’s glow showing a pretty straightforward path through this rugged terrain. Even still, Sentinel looked behind him frequently to make sure his quiet companion was doing alright. She couldn’t just float over the rocks like he could, so Sentinel knew it must be much more tiring for her to walk this way.
Should I offer to carry her over the stones? No… she might think I’m saying she’s weak. I don’t actually know if she even trusts me yet so-- Sentinel’s thoughts were interrupted by a low growling sound from behind them. He turned around just in time to see a feral Lairon charging at Myrr from the shadows. It had a ferocious look in it’s eyes, and was drooling with hunger as it readied a Headbutt attack. Protect her. Protect her. Protect her.
Sentinel began letting off fierce heat, readying for battle. He flew forward, toward the attacking feral. ”MYRR! Look out!”
With a crash Sentinel and the Lairon collided. Sparks flew as iron struck the burning stone. The Lairon grabbed Sentinel’s stone ray with its jaws and flung him back towards Myrr. Sentinel skidded across the rocky ground for several feet, groaning a bit as he got back up. ”Oooo… that hurt, hehe. Myrrirou, you’re ready for battle, right?” asked Sentinel, feeling shaken from the impact. The Lairon had earned a nasty dent in its armor from the collision, but was still aggressively preparing to attack again.

Myrr didn't have too much trouble climbing the rocks, but she would be lying if she said it wasn't exhausting her, she wasn't too used to climbing mountains, especially mountains like this. Though, its been getting better, considering she can actually see where she is going now and that was batter than anything she had before.

Myrr flinched when the Solrock screamed out at her, making her head ring with pain due to its sensitivity, her eyes widened when she saw Sentinel take a huge hit from the big steel Pokemon, she was confused that she had got attached this easily to the big rock, feeling concerned and looking him over quickly to make sure he wasn't cracked or anything, why she thought he might be, she wasn't sure. She shakes her head to snap her self out of this heavy thought process.

Her hands go out in front of her, levitating a few large sized rocks near her she runs and jumps ontop of one of them, the Larion seems confused as she in the air, sends 3 of them flying at the Larion like giant bullets, 1 of them missing but 2 of them crashing into the Larion, staggering it greatly and putting even more dents into it. She leaves the Larion open for attack, flipping into her landing a few meters away.
