Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptySun Jan 25, 2015 8:08 pm

First topic message reminder :

Pterra cursed, flying awkwardly through the air away from the scene of his beating. He couldn't believe that stupid Lucario had beat him so badly!!! He winced as several of his bruises stung with the air going by them. He was quickly getting tired, but he wanted to get away from the crazy fighting type pokemon. She might follow him and he wanted to get as far away from her as possible.

He didn't even know where he was at this point; he was just flying away! He sighed deeply, feeling exhaustion creep over him. He eventually noticed a small cave near the bottom of one of the many mountains surrounding him and he turned his wings in to land in the cave, wanting to take a rest.

He landed on the cave floor and immediately collapsed in exhaustion. He hoped that the cave was enough out of the way that he was safe from any traveling Explorers or feral pokemon. His eyes slipped close as he breathed in and out, and soon enough he was fast asleep on the cave floor, his body awkwardly spread out across the cave, the long scar stretching across his back clearly visible to any pokemon wandering in.

PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptySat Apr 04, 2015 6:54 pm

Pterra shook his head at the little bird, still in disbelief that he was tolerating the little idiot. "We're heading for one of the peaks. IF we're lucky, the peaks will be too high up for any pokemon to bother us and I can actually get some rest," he snorted. He looked up at the peak that he was aiming for, his eyes narrowing as he tried to spot any caves or crevices that they could use to spend the night in. The sun was slowly starting to set, and he didn't want to be caught outside when the moon rose -who knew what kind of dangers lurked in these mountains after dark?

PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptySat Apr 04, 2015 7:43 pm

"Oh," Varda chirped to the reply, seeming to think that it made sense. Only flying Pokémon would make it to the top, right? Unless someone was a really good climber, but it sounded much more difficult than just flying. As the pair continued to soar through the skies, the air grew colder the higher they went. That was enough for the Swablu to realize something.
"But isn't it really cold on the peak?" He cooed, the cold air getting through even his fluffy layer of feathers. And it would only be getting colder as the sun set...

Pterra shrugged at the swablu's question. "Sure, it might be colder, but I'd rather be cold than torn apart or eaten, wouldn't you?" he offered up the harsh alternative callously. "Besides, I'll be colder than you," he added, rolling his eyes. "You've got all that down and fur to curl up in. I've just got skin and scales, tough as they are." He continued his search for a cave, and finally found one.

"Ah, here's a cave where we can rest for the night."

He flew into the cave first, peering around the dark cavern to check if there were any feral pokemon about before they settled down for the night.

"Hmm... I guess! I don't think it would be nice to be eaten!" Varda chirped as he seemed to agree with his friend's idea. Perhaps higher was better, even if it was cold. Just as long as anything tried to eat them. The Aerodactyl probably was better off if something was looking for food considering how much smaller the Swablu was, the easier target of the two...
"They're feathers, not fur!" The little bird giggled as Pterra compared what they were covered with, certain that the one with feathers would be much better off in a cold climate. Maybe that was true too, as the Aerodactyl didn't have anything except his skin...
"Maybe I can sit on you like an egg so you'll stay warm!"

Pterra noticed a cave he wanted to use for resting and descended with the bird Pokémon right behind him. Varda landed on the rocky ground, feeling the cold rock against his little bird feet. He dug out another Sitrus berry for him to eat for dinner as he waddled after the Aerodactyl, entering the cave. It seemed... Empty. There were some larger boulders on the ground, but otherwise it looked nice! The ground just was bare and there didn't seem to be any nesting material... Oh, except there seemed to be some piece of cloth that the Swablu picked up with his beak.

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptyMon Apr 06, 2015 2:06 pm

Energy: 0 + 25 (Reviver seed) = 25

Pterra circled around the cave, checking to make sure there were no enemies. There didn't seem to be, so he landed on one of the big boulders in the cave, only for it to move underneath him, tossing him to the floor of the cave on his back. Pterra cried out in shock as the boulder revealed itself to be a golem. Pterra frantically tried to flip himself around so that he could fly, but his position on his back was awkward and in his panic, he couldn't figure out how to flip over. The golem roared and began to roll straight for him, all 661 lbs of rock.

Pterra cried out as the golem rolled over him, crushing his ribcage and making it impossible to breathe. When the golem continued rolling, revealing the aerodactyl underneath, Pterra looked even more pathetic than before, eyes halfway shut and seemingly not breathing. Then a yellow glow encased the aerodactyl. There was a bright flash of light, blinding anyone in the cave. When the light cleared, Pterra was standing on the cave floor, looking as good as new, with a furious expression on his face. He flew towards the golem, shrieking in anger and releasing blue-purple flames of dragon fury onto the rock type pokemon, then his jaws began crackling with a light-blue energy as he bit down on the golem, splitting the rock as ice spread from where-ever he bit.

The golem roared in defeat and sunk to the ground, only to wake the other sleeping golem that was the other largest boulder in the cave. Pterra turned to meet the next challenger, eyes glaring in murderous fury. He was so sick of being pushed around by pokemon who were so far beneath him, the number was astronomical! He flew towards the other golem, and started biting wherever he could reach, spreading ice around the golem's rocky body faster than it could attack him, sending the golem into shudders as its rocks began to shatter under the pressure of ice and Pterra's fury.

When all was said and done, the two golems were left in small, shattered pieces of ice and rock, and Pterra was left in the middle of it all, crouched on the floor of the cave, breathing harshly, his eyes slowly returning from their furious, feral state. As he looked around and realized that he had lost control, his eyes fell shut, and his breathing became harsher, small tears welling at the corners of his eyes. How could he have lost control like that? And in front of another pokemon?!?! He wouldn't turn to look at Varda, ashamed of his feral-like state of rage. He was no better than any other feral pokemon; he wasn't as smart as he assumed, if he couldn't even control himself well enough to properly fight other pokemon without going into a berserker rage...

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptyMon Apr 06, 2015 3:10 pm

Varda liked the little ribbon he had found, beautiful and golden in the way it seemed to glimmer in the faint light. He would have showed it to his new friend, but it seemed like the cave wasn't quite as safe as the pair originally thought. One of the boulders came to life when it was touched by Pterra, the surprised cry causing even the bird to jump from surprise as he quickly turned around to see the Aerodactyl on his back on the ground. The rock, it had... Sprouted limbs and a face, and it didn't seem to be too glad that it had been bothered! With a roar, the rock-like Pokémon ended up rolling right over his friend who couldn't seem to get out of the way fast enough to dodge.

"Pterra!" The Swablu cried out, unable to do anything about what was happening. He wasn't big or strong enough to stop a giant rolling boulder that heavy, and... The Aerodactyl was crushed, forcing Varda to cover his eyes with his wings. He heard the cry of pain and just shut his eyes tighter before forcing himself to look and inspect the damage. Pterra looked... Bad. Crushed. And... He didn't even know if the Aerodactyl was moving anymo–

A blinding flash made the bird Pokémon's world turn white as he let out a chirp, rubbing his eyes as he waddled backwards. He was still able to hear even though his eyes weren't working properly, hearing the shrieks and roars as something was happening. Varda tried to back away from the source of the sound, not wanting to get involved in it while he couldn't see. And once his sight returned to him, he still didn't want to get involved in what he saw. Pterra was pretty much destroying two Pokémon, a second boulder monster having appeared from elsewhere. The Swablu... He just ended up hiding behind a rock, nervously putting the ribbon he found in his bag.

Eventually it all ended. The silence returned to the cave with only the Aerodactyl's heavy breathing apparent in the air. Varda peeked from behind the rock to see smaller pieces of stone strewn around everywhere, all over the cave floor. And he saw Pterra. Pterra actually didn't look hurt anymore, which was good! But he did look... Bad in another way. Sad. Defeated, even though it seemed like the Pokémon had won. The Swablu didn't quite understand, so after a moment of hesitating, he hopped from behind the rock and started to waddle over his friend.
"Um... Are you alright...? Does it hurt...?"

Pterra sighed at the question from Varda. Of course the little bird was too stupid to even realize what he'd done, anyway. He huffed and curled up on the floor. "M' fine..." he mumbled, still not looking at the swablu. "Should'a known better than to assume these caves were empty when I know that golems can make themselves look like boulders any time they want." He closed his eyes. "Better get some rest, little birdy. I'd like to go home to Black Mist Mountain tomorrow. This place is too volatile for me."

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptyMon Apr 06, 2015 9:34 pm

Varda tilted his head a bit as he waddled closer, circling around the larger Pokémon so he could face Pterra – but the Aerodactyl still wasn't looking at him, no matter what he did. While his friend claimed to be fine, not everything seemed to be fine! He just wasn't entirely sure what it was.
"Oh, um, I didn't notice the other Pokémon either!" The bird chirped as he tried to reassure Pterra, in case he was feeling sad because he had failed to notice something. There was nothing to be ashamed of when it came to that! Of course, the Aerodactyl might feel even worse when being told that it had been just as oblivious as the little fluff ball...

"You don't live here?" The Swablu ended up asking with a rather innocent expression as he looked up at the Aerodactyl with a big smile on his face. The feathers on top of his head flopped over with the gravity.
"I don't live here either," Varda added with a little giggle. That part was probably obvious, was there a way for a Pokémon like him to even survive in the mountains?

((If I roll some Pokémon, we might want to save those for the next day, heh.))

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptySun Apr 12, 2015 7:10 pm

Pterra shrugged at Varda's words, and simply let sleep claim him. He began to snore loudly, shaking some of the pebbles on the floor of the cave as he did so, unaware of the possible disturbance that he might cause the bird pokemon.

---

Pterra opened his eyes to find himself in a familiar place: the treehouse where he and his friend Deino liked to spend afternoons reading, in his childhood. He frowned. How had he gotten here? Wasn't he in a cave?

"Hey, there you are, slowpoke!" He turned at the cheery voice to see his friend Deino, smiling at him. "I was wondering where you had gotten to."

"Uh..." Pterra said intelligently, staring at his old friend with pain in his eyes. How was this possible? "B-but... they didn't find you... they said you were dead!" He exclaimed.

Deino looked at him strangely. "What are you talking about, Pterra? Did you hit your head or something? Remember, we were supposed to meet here to go over our project for school?" She said.

Thunder boomed from outside, and Pterra shuddered. Deino glance out the window and shrugged. "I didn't know there was supposed to be a storm tonight," she commented. Pterra's eyes widened, suddenly recognizing the words -this was a memory! He shuddered. NO! I don't want to see this! Please, wake up! he thought to himself.

"Deino, we've gotta get out of here," he heard himself say. "If there's a storm, we don't want to be caught out in it. We can finish the project another day."

Deino turned to him with a look of surprise. "Well, if you insist. Come on, race ya home, slowpoke!" she teased, climbing down from the treehouse and starting to trot away. Pterra flew after her, but the rain had started coming down harder and harder, and the wind was starting to cause him trouble as he flew.

"Deino, we gotta find shelter!" He cried through the wind, but suddenly Deino was nowhere to be seen. "DEINO!!! WHERE ARE YOU?" he shouted. The rain and wind started lashing at him more and more, as he wandered through the maze of the town, trying desperately to find his friend. Several flashes of lightning lit up the sky, and then suddenly there was a blinding flash of light and terrible pain in his back. "DEINO!!!!!!!!!!!" he cried one last time before everything went black.

---

Pterra awoke with a start, the old scar on his back searing with pain. He cried out in pain, cowering against the floor as the pain lanced through him. Unbeknownst to him, the old scar had reopened, spilling red blood across his purple-grey form and splashing droplets across the cave floor.

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptySun Apr 12, 2015 7:45 pm

Varda smiled as he looked at the Aerodactyl, though his new friend was soon fast asleep with a roaring snore. He honestly wasn't very tired yet, his eyes taking a look around the cave as he did a little bit of exploring. It seemed like it continued deeper into mountain, growing darker as the tunnel went further away from the cave entrance... But the bird decided not to explore – not on his own, at least. He waddled next to the sleeping Pokémon and looked around some more. There was no material for a nest, the ground wasn't very soft... And the cave was quite cold, too! This wasn't the perfect place to sleep.

But things didn't always have to be perfect. At least he didn't have to spend the night in strange territory on his own, so that was a good thing! The Swablu hopped next to Pterra and squeezed right next to the larger Pokémon for some more heat, his feathers fluffed up for extra softness and warmth. The little bird's eyes closed as he did his best to sleep right next to the giant that had a voice that was resembling thunder currently, slowly drifting away...

A sudden cry forced Varda to jump up, not knowing what had happened though he was quite certain he had dozed off for a while there. He had no idea what time it was, but he managed to get out of the way before the Aerodactyl managed to crush him under his weight. Confused, the bird hopped in place from foot to foot.
"O-Oh, Pterra! Did something happen? Are you alright?"

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptySun Apr 12, 2015 8:24 pm

Pterra heard the concerned cry, and in his delirious state of pain and drowsiness, was convinced it was his old friend Deino. "How can you stand there and care about me and my pain?" he asked her, unaware that he was actually talking to Varda; his voice rough with sleep and pain of the physical and mental state. "It's my fault you're dead; how can you care about me? And everything I've done since you died... I'm an awful pokemon; you know... I steal for a living and I hurt other pokemon because I can't stand to see them happy when I am in so much pain... how can you stand there and care about me after all of that, Deino? When the only reason you're dead and not home safe with your family is me?" he asked brokenly, tears pouring from his eyes as his wound slowed its bleeding, only occasionally dripping blood onto the floor now.

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptySun Apr 12, 2015 9:53 pm

Varda tilted his head in confusion as the other Pokémon didn't seem to understand why – or how – he could be so concerned. But of course he was concerned when someone was hurt, no matter who it was! It only got stranger as Pterra claimed that the bird was dead... He shifted from one foot to another as he checked his body with his wings. He... Was quite certain that he was still alive! His body certainly didn't feel like that of a ghost, so what did he know...

The Swablu looked at the Aerodactyl, concerned. The more his friend kept talking, the more it sounded like something was really long. What had happened during that period when they were sleeping? ...And had Pterra forgotten his name already?
"It's, um... It's not your fault. Unless you can cause storms, but I won't blame you for that either! I don't think I'm dead, though," Varda chirped as he tried to reassure the other Pokémon, as he had done nothing wrong. Yes, perhaps he had gotten caught in a storm that whisked him away from his family, but... Wait, how did the Aerodactyl even know that?

The little bird walked closer with soft steps and placed a fluffy wing on Pterra's cheek, trying to soak up some of the tears that were falling.
"And um, my name is Varda..."

"It's, um... It's not your fault. Unless you can cause storms, but I won't blame you for that either! I don't think I'm dead, though," the voice said gently. Pterra felt something soft on his cheek. "And um, my name is Varda..." Pterra froze. He opened his eyes, only to see the swablu that he had met the day before. He paled and then blushed in embarrassment, rising to his feet and turning away from the swablu.

"Errr. That wasn't for you... I t-thought you were someone else," he stated, blushing deeper. Then something struck him. How did the swablu know about the storm? He turned to the small bird pokemon, eyeing it suspiciously. "Hang on... how did you know about the storm? You're not psychic, are you?" he asked, his voice deepening into a growl. He hated psychics who dug around in other pokemon's thoughts and memories -it was so demeaning and just plain wrong!

Falling from the Skies - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Falling from the Skies   Falling from the Skies - Page 3 EmptyMon Apr 13, 2015 7:15 pm

Varda looked down at the Aerodactyl's face, feeling how he flinched under his soft wing. An eye opened and and the two met their gaze, the little bird clearly worried and confused as he tilted his head a little. Pterra seemed to blush as he got up and turned away. It was all just even more confusing, so the Swablu quickly walked around the larger Pokémon as he tried to circle to the front, not letting Pterra just turn his back like that. He felt like he needed some answers!

"Oh," he cooed as he was told that the Aerodactyl wasn't speaking to him. But there was no one else here, was there? The bird quickly glanced around to make sure, and he didn't see anyone! His facial expression did tell that he was a bit unsure about what was happening, but he didn't seem to be condemning Pterra.
"Um, I don't think so. And I was about to ask the same thing!" Varda chirped as he was asked about the storm and his knowledge of it. The storm... While Pterra hadn't actually mentioned a storm, that was the only thing that had made sense back then when he first heard his new friend apologizing for not being safe at home anymore. But if the Aerodactyl wasn't actually talking about him...

"The storm is the reason why I'm not at home, so I thought..."

Pterra frowned down at the swablu, who had followed his head around so that he was still facing the little bird pokemon. He sighed at Varda's words. He turned his head sideways when Varda spoke of a storm separating him from his family; and understanding dawned on him. There had been a miscommunication between the two pokemon.

"Ah... there's been a bit of a miscommunication..." he grumbled. "I... I was having a dream; about one of my memories... When I woke up; I thought I was still dreaming; I thought you were someone else... someone... well; it's my fault she's de-" he broke off in the middle of a word, then carried on with difficulty. "she's... gone. We... we were in a really bad storm and got separated... and we never found her. I myself almost died; and I was far stronger than she was, so..." he closed his eyes and fell silent, a burning starting in the back of his throat and behind his eyes as a few tears slid down his face.
