Drakon Academy [RP] - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Drakon Academy [RP]   Drakon Academy [RP] - Page 3 EmptySun Dec 21, 2014 11:10 pm

First topic message reminder :

The squawk of the seagulls and the modest crash of the waves sounded in the ears of the man as he stood upon a dock. It was not an actual dock for ships though, as it split into quite a few helicopter pads. He stood alone at the only way to land from the docks, waiting for the arrival of the awaited. The sky around the island was dark with clouds, and it seemed almost as if harsh weather was going to begin around the island soon. The island itself, however had crystal clear skies with a bright and shining sun happily bestowing its light to the intricate structures of the academy below it.

The lonesome man reached into a pocket on his shirt, pulling out a golden pocket watch with an intricate design of two dragons seemingly chasing each other in a tight circle while grabbing each other's tail with their teeth, and a pearl in the middle. The pocketwatch was clicked shut and placed back into his pocket, as he heard the whirl of helicopter blades drawing near. He looked up to see the dark and sleek machines slowly lowering themselves to their assigned helipad, giving the students inside to obtain a look of the beautiful academy that shined as it seemed to take in the rays of the sun above.

Blades of the helicopters came to a halt, and the doors slid open as the students were ushered out of the helicopters and into a big group near the man that had waited so patiently for their arrival. He smiled warmly and welcoming, before he spoke, "Welcome Students, what you have set foot on, is where you shall stay for the next few years of your life. This is the place, where you will learn to fight, fly, feed, and care for, the very beast that has chosen you as its keeper. I'm sure you know very well, that this beast I speak of, is known as a Dragon."

"I, am Damien Shoals, but you shall address me as Mr. Shoals. Now, follow me, for your first day shall be a tour of the academy." The man turned without giving a chance for questions and began to walk towards the large front doors of the academy. Everything within the academy walls, seemed over sized, if one was good at the art of giving an educated guess, one would assume that it is due to the vast size of dragons. The high ceiling would allow dragons to walk through the school grounds with their masters, and allow smaller ones to fly over the heads of humans so to perform errands. That educated guess, would be correct, as Mr. Shoals explained the reasoning of the size to the students.

"Now, where we are right now, is the Central Hall, there are four wings to Drakon Academy, West, East, North, and South. Each wing is assigned a certain overall subject, but each has a large variety of classes within. The North Wing is Flight, South is Combat, East is Care and Incubation Rooms, and West is anything that doesn't quite fit the bill for anything else, such as Lunch Rooms, Libraries, and Dorms," Mr. Shoals paused, noticing that some of the students seemed to be looking around nervously, perhaps unnerved at how the halls seemed to be empty, and nobody but them was even around, not even any dragons.

"Now, now, don't get uneasy, class is just in session. Its required that every class stays indoors on Touring Day so as to not frighten you or if anything goes a bit...wrong. Wouldn't want you dying on your first day now would you?" Mr. Shoals turned quickly once more, not giving time for a reaction as he continued on. He brought the students through the school, showing them the entirety of the school, but the students had still yet to see any dragons.

Towards the end of the grand tour when he was showing them an extravagant garden the school owned to allow students a place to relax, one student seemed to be getting sick of not seeing a dragon, and shouted, "I want to see a dragon! What kind of academy is this if there's no Dragons!?"

Mr.Shoals suddenly stopped walking, slowly turning his head towards the interrupting and rather rude student, "So you want to see a dragon, eh?" he responded with a smile. The student flinched at the creepy smirk, but nodded. Out of nowhere, several sudden screeches sounded from atop a bell tower like structure that stood the tallest out of every building of the school. The pitched screeches caused everyone but Mr.Shoals to cover their ears and prevent them from bleeding.

When the rude student finally looked up to the source, he screamed in terror as a large beast  with wide wings and strange antlers upon its head loomed over him in the air and plucked him out of the crowd and pulled him into the skies. The beast was dark with brown splashes and two large red eye looking circles on its wings with its wings going all down its tail. The beast seemed to be accompanied with several others just like it, but smaller. The boy screamed in terror while the dragons screeched with joy, tossing the boy between each other as if he were some plaything.

The dragons gave a rather beautiful display of flight while toying about, making long elegant turns and some quick snaps, swoops, and dives alike. Mr. Shoals waited while the boy was toyed with, until he at least made a loud clicking noise. The largest dragon hesitated in its flight as it heard the noise, and processed the order. It retrieved the boy from the other Howler Drakes, and dropped the boy into a nearby tree, causing him to fall out and curl into a ball, completely pale from fear for his life but his eyes wide with amazement.

The smaller Howlers seemed to fly to the other side of the school, disappearing from sight, while the largest landed behind Mr. Shoals, standing tall with its brilliant antlers and flaring out its wings behind him and giving a loud bellow as a finale for its performance.

"Satisfied?" he asked.

The boy nodded slowly.

"Any questions?" Mr. Shoals finally asked.

((I'm making an exception of one post after me for when it comes to conversations, I'll designate a post as a "Mod Post" from now on for us to continue with plot once everyone has finished interacting and shiz))

"I'm uh..Kyrie..." she decided to introduce herself as the girl told Kyrie her name. She spoke up once more, "That was uh..brave of you to try," though she herself couldn't decipher whether it was brave, stupid, or both. She herself would have never been able to go anywhere near that dragon, she could barely even hold on to an egg! Karis's plan to calm Kyrie down seemed to be working, as she stuttered less and less and regulated her breathing, taking her mind off the fact that there was a giant dragon just behind the wall that could roast her in less than ten seconds.

"Thanks..." replied Karis with a small smile, still clutching her cloth as if it were the one thing tying her to this Earth, "I didn't actually get to touch her though," she added, her smile growing a little weaker as she thought back to it. The Headmaster had said she could come back and try whenever she wanted though... Maybe when she'd learned a bit more about dragons as a whole she would take him up on his offer.

Karis's idea seemed to be working not only on Kyrie, but herself. She merely needed to learn to warm up to other people and she would be just fine here, like her parents, and Janette, had told her. Perhaps over time it would become easier... but Karis found herself nervously thinking back to the egg she had left behind in the incubation room as her thoughts wandered. She remained calm however, despite her nervousness.

"I honestly don't know how you could even think about touching those things.." Kyrie finally said, "There's dangerous, they could kill you, burn you alive and even swallow you whole and eat you alive. They can get so big and.." Kyrie shivered just thinking about it. Her mind going back to when she had discovered the egg in her room, and how her family shipped her off to the academy with zero sympathy and without a goodbye, not wanting anything to do with the daughter. Things just weren't happy fun times for her, and she wasn't quite appreciating it. She wished that she could just curl up in some corner and die quickly and painlessly in her sleep rather than having the terrifying image of a dragon being the last thing she saw.

Karis blinked as she listened to Kyrie's words. So this was what the others thought too then? The ones who had seemed so terrified every time the word dragon was even mentioned? Perhaps if she tried to explain her point of view, why she didn't view the dragons as such dangerous creatures, she would change her mind?

"But didn't you see them when they flew?" Karis asked, "They were so graceful, even though up close they might seem like huge, lumbering creatures. Something capable of that can't be dangerous all of the time, surely," she said. The blunette wasn't normally one to express her feelings to such strangers, but if they were to be spending the next few years of their lives alongside dragons, there had to be some way for Kyrie to appreciate them rather than fear them.

"Can't be that dangerous? You heard what Mr.Shoals said right? One slip up can lead to a dragon eating you. You can't even touch another dragon without putting yourself into danger...They're keen on eating anything, even toddlers.." She trailed off, remembering the horrible incident where that dragon had eaten her youngest sibling. Now she had to take care of one of those horrid beasts! Well, she thought, gaining a slight determination, if she absolutely had to do this, she was going to make sure that her dragon didn't lay a single claw on another human being.

Hunter stood in place reading the book and was a little confused on what he read, this book seemed to be missing something. Primarily the part about what a tamed one would be like. He had hoped that he'd get some idea on what he was in for but that part of the book just wasn't there it was a bit maddening, then he figured that all the dragon's have different owners so they must of all been different depending on their master's he hoped he was right. He read the book again just to make sure he had all the info before looking up to face the same small Dragon that had given him the book.

"I'm done with this" he said as he handed the pygmy Dragon the book and it went off to put it back he figured. Then he felt a little odd some were so afraid of the dragon's and tried to avoid them he just talked to one. He shrugged it off like normal and looked at the books again, the same pygmy Dragon came back and looked at Hunter. Hunter assumed it thought he still needed help, well he did so why not ask. "Uh hey is there any books about the history of dragons?" He asked as the Dragon seemed to nod and fly off again leaving Hunter in the dust.

He stood for a moment contemplating on moving but then it seemed to come back with a book for Hunter again. "Thanks" he said as he took the history book and the dragon flew away leaving him to read it. "Ok then book show me what you got" he said with a smirk as he started reading

Morgan blinked and rubbed the back of his head trying to think of what to say to Patience in response. Before he could, she seemed to head off.
"O-oh, okay. Well, I guess...I'll see you later..." He trailed off, mumbling by the end as she seemed to leave. He looked down at his hands and clasped them together, fiddling with his fingers awkwardly as he stood there. He hadn't expected to be able to make friends right away, and chances were that people were under a lot of stress, but he still hadn't expected his first attempt at a conversation to go that poorly.

Looking around, he realized that a good amount of people had already left to go to the library, or the dorms, or really anywhere but there. Well, the library did sound like a good idea. That way he could figure out what sort of dragon he would be dealing with. The boy turned and started to head for the exit, before remembering something very important. He completely forgot where the library was. The Headmaster had mentioned four wings, and they were in the East wing now, but that left three wings to pick from. Two of which would be classes probably, and they had already been warned about disrupting class.

Morgan frowned and glanced around the room. He could ask one of the other students, but he was still worried about how the conversation would go after his last attempt. Maybe he could ask the Headmaster or Ms.Linani, but neither of them had exactly made a fantastic first impression on him. So, that left the wonderful guessing game. Still standing in the middle of the room they had been in when the eggs were incubated, he turned around a few times, trying to get a feel for his surroundings and think about where to go. Maybe it was...the North wing? I can't remember, that might be it...

Patience frowned at the books she had been reading. It seemed like all that was known about Vampire Dragons was their atrocious manner of breeding and their just as atrocious manner of eating -drinking the blood of other creatures. She shuddered. Despite her disgust on the matter, she knew that it would fall to her to be responsible for her dragon getting enough blood to drink. She shuddered again. She really hoped that the Academy had live animals bred on the island, or feeding her dragon would become very difficult.

She sighed and began returning the books to the shelves. Maybe there would be more information in the classes that she would be taking at the Academy. Speaking of which, she wondered what sort of classes would be available. Would she just get assigned classes or was their any choices in the classes that she would take? She hummed to herself thoughtfully as she returned her last book to its shelf.

I'd better go see what the dorm situation is, Patience thought as she left the library. She wandered through the hallways for a while before she finally found the wing that she recognized from the tour as the way towards the dorms. She found the girls' dorms and opened the main door quietly and stepped inside, looking around. She noticed signs posted all around the dorm, warning everyone to be quiet. She supposed that would be to prevent an unwary person from waking a grumpy dragon.

She stood in the entryway for a moment, dithering. She wasn't told of a dorm assignment, so she wasn't sure where she was supposed to go. She looked around helplessly. Was there a staff member around to help her figure this stuff out? Also -it had slipped her mind from all the excitement on the tour- how were their belongings to get to their rooms?

Karis continued her conversation with Kyrie from where they duo were still located, just outside of the incubation room.
"Isn't that why we are all here?" Karis pointed out, matter-of-factly, "Would you rather be left at home where a baby dragon could hatch and harm your own family because it's untrained, or here where they can teach you how to take care of it, and how to make sure it doesn't... eat anyone?" she added. To her, the intentions of the academy were quite noble. At least here, she would have to tools and equipment to both learn about and deal with her dragon if it were to hatch to be aggressive - which reminded, her: she had decided to go to the library before she had instead managed to strike up the conversation they were currently having. Getting a small idea in her mind, Karis paused for a while before she turned her attention back to Kyrie, taking a moment to build up her courage to ask the fellow student whether she wanted to come with her.

"Uhm. How about if we headed to the library?" she suggested, "We could do research to see if our dragons - or dragons in general - are born aggressive, or whether they end up becoming that for other reasons."

This could work. Hopefully there would be some information in the library to tell them more about this specific subject. Well, as long as Kyrie actually agreed to come along.

Now this had been useless. There wasn't a single word about these Casserole Dragons in that book.
Not wanting to have to spend all day cooped up with all these dragons, Dean decided that a new approach was in order. The name probably began with a C or a K. If he could find an encyclopedia or a dictionary he might be able to find words that looked like they might be the species of his dragon. And then he would be able to find a book about that species and find out exactly how he was going to die.
Hopefully this method would be more successful, as it would be highly unwise to raise a ferrocious beast without knowing the slighest thing about it.
Dean was unsure whether he should hope for a weak, peaceful dragon that would have a harder time killing him, or for a powerful, mighty dragon that might be able to protect him from other threats.
Both of them had their ad- and disadvantages. And knowing his luck Dean would end up with the worst one.

On his way to the dorms, he had passed the library. At first, he didn't know what the room was, since there were dragons flying around, but he doubled back to take a second look, and saw the many books on the tall shelves. He didn't know if he should go to what seemed like his dreams, or to go to the place where he would dream every night. The farm-grown teen decided on the library, mostly because he could read up more on Pygmies, but also because he figured he could just find the dorms later.

He walked into the vast room, and started looking through the bookcases for a book on Pygmy dragons. He ran his fingers along the sides of the books he could see easily, reading the titles quickly. "Pygmy, Pygmy, Pygmy..." He muttered to himself repeatedly. Then one of the Pygmy dragons in the library had flew up to him with a book on multiple breeds of dragon. It nudged on his back, and the country boy looked behind him. He let out a small gasp, but quickly got over his shock, seeing the dragon had a book that was one he was looking for.

"Oh, thanks! I didn't know you guys were here for getting the high-to-reach books, or to find books in general." Sean smiled happily. "Well, better hind somewhere to sit down, thanks again!"

Sean went off in a direction, and found a seat near the edge of the room, just how he liked it, and started to read.

Drakon Academy [RP] - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Drakon Academy [RP]   Drakon Academy [RP] - Page 3 EmptyTue Dec 30, 2014 2:55 am

No...no, no NO! This couldn't be happening to her, this just couldn't! She thought she had been in a dream at first, it was all fun in games until the loud screech of the Howler pained her ears. She actually FELT the pain. This was no dream! She really was chosen by a dragon, a dragon that could EAT her! She had been a late arrival, being the last to get her Dragon identified as a Dorsal Dragon. She had been in a daze, not following the instructions of the teacher of leaving the egg and instead taking it with her as she headed for the library with little attention to what was going on around her, bumping slightly into the girl known as Kyrie as she went with only a mumble as an apology as she towed her egg along in her arms.

The Dorsal Dragon Girl entered the library, and was even more horrified to see dragons. Dragons Everywhere. She began to giggle, it was a nervous giggle, and she entered the library, still feeling like everything was still a dream and yet knowing it was real. A small blue pygmy approached her, flapping its wings to keep level with her face and gave a questioning squawk. She could only focus on the teeth and claws that could rip into her. She froze in fear, and figured this was probably the least amount of bad dragons could be, so what would her dragon be like?

She didn't want to know. She couldn't handle this, this was too much! She gave a yell and slammed the Dorsal Egg into the ground, a loud cracking sound was made and all the pygmies in the room went silent and stared towards the source. The egg had shattered into a thousand pieces, along with cracking open. A hatchling could be seen, but it did not even move to breathe.

The pygmy that had been in front of the girl dove towards the egg, it gave it a sniff and the hatchling inside a nudge, trying to get it to move. The pygmy squawked a few times, looking down at the dead hatchling, before its eye shot up towards the girl and gave a furious screech. It was joined by an army of screeches as many pygmies began to swarm the girl, carrying her off in a flurry of color towards the principal's office.

Once those were gone, the ones that remained continued their business, the dead hatchling remaining on the floor, as it was not to be cleaned until a janitor stopped by.

::Suds::
""Dark Myst Pygmies are, despite their dark and gloomy appearance, merry creatures. These small dragons love humidity, as it keeps their skin well-hydrated, and are most happy when it is raining or foggy. They feed off larvae and insects and occasionally hunt for tiny lizards and frogs." The book seemed to go on describing how they were usually upbeat and happy most of the time when tamed. It then spoke about how it was when left untamed, which seemed to be the exact opposite of tamed.

::Solilo::
"Ouch!" Kyrie exclaimed as a girl bumped into her, she stared as the girl seemed to walk off in a daze. She was not quite sure how to respond to that, so she turned back to the woman she had originally been speaking with, "Yeah, I guess you're right about that," she said after she spoke about the families, however she was not sure that her parents would even accept her back even if she had trained it not to do anything bad. She was a traitor in their eyes, even if she didn't choose this path. She listened to the offer for a trip to the library, and nodded, "That seems like a good idea, yeah i'll go!"

Hunter had finished his books and was now having a conversation with the pygmy Dragon that had helped him with the two books. For some reason he was just talking just venting about all the stuff that went on. The Dragon just wanted the book he was holding but Hunter didn't notice. It wasn't until he heard a loud crash near him did he turn his head as the pygmy Dragon next to him dashed over at the scene Hunter decided to do the same.

Hunter had to cover his ears the screech of them all was unbearable to him as he was to close and fell down to his knees trying to stop the sound from entering his head. He managed to or he went deaf either or he was still on the ground slightly away from the mass of Dragon's as they all picked a girl up and carried her off to who knows where.

Hunter couldn't take it as he collapsed to the ground for a moment head pounding hands shaking only difference from this and the howler was the fact his ears weren't bleeding. He took a second but managed to get up his hands still over his head as he looked up for a second before getting to a standing position where he saw a small weird thing "the hell? Wait is that?" He says to himself as he looks closer and then falls back on his bum. "That's a" was all he said he felt like throwing up. Did that girl throw her egg?

He gets up and then turns around not wanting to look at it.

Drakon Academy [RP] - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Drakon Academy [RP]   Drakon Academy [RP] - Page 3 EmptyTue Dec 30, 2014 3:42 pm

Karis gave a short glance to the girl that rudely bumped into Kyrie, but she wasn't about to say anything. It had taken enough of her courage to come and talk to this girl, she wasn't about to openly express her feelings to any others. The dazed looking girl soon wandered off however, so Karis thought nothing of it, though the egg she held in her hands piqued her curiosity. Hadn't they all left their eggs behind in the incubation room?

Nevertheless, she was happy that Kyrie had agreed to accompany her to the library and as they made their way towards where she remembered the area being from the tour, she couldn't help but feel that small pang of excitement again. She wondered what a Glaucus Drake was actually like? Was it as graceful as those dragons that had flown in the courtyard-esque area? Did they have wings at all? The blue colours and moist feeling of the egg had made her mind wander to whether her dragon was actually something that might have lived in water should it have hatched in the wild.

When Karis entered the library, the events with the girl had already taken place and the girl herself was nowhere to be seen, but the first thing Karis saw when walking through the doors of the large collection of books was the smashed egg.... and the dead hatchling. Her violet eyes scanned the poor dead creature, her face contorting into a look of almost shock and pity as she recognised the simple colours of the egg fragments. It had belonged to the girl that had bumped into Kyrie.

Her violet gaze couldn't stand to look upon the tiny, lifeless corpse any longer and so Karis hurried off into a section of the library without first consulting Kyrie. It didn't matter whether a creature was a dragon, a pet, or another human being, she could never be happy with seeing something so young be so lifeless like that.

Tying the blue patterned cloth she carried around her neck like a scarf for the time being, Karis freed up her arms to sift through the shelves. She soon became aware that she had no idea what anything would be classified under as she had next to no knowledge about dragons themselves as of yet. With a small sigh, she turned around to try another shelf, only to be met with the silver face of a tiny dragon, flying in the air right behind her. Initially startled by the sight as the dragon was so close, it didn't take more than a few moments for Karis to calm herself and take a good look at the small dragon. It had a silver body and what looked to be bright cyan wings. It's tail was incredibly long for it's size and could probably have been mistaken for a silver snake all on it's own if it weren't for the cyan sail that tipped it. It was kinda cute, Karis admitted to herself.

"What are you?" she whispered to herself. Was a Glaucus Drake anything like this?

The tiny dragon made a small cry at this question and flew off, much to Karis's disappointment. She watched it fly off before stopping at a bookshelf and with a small noise of her own, one of disappointment, she began to scan through the books on the opposite shelf to where she had been a few moments previous. Again, she found nothing that seemed to be helpful, but it wasn't long before she found a small silver tail twisting around her arm.

Blinking, Karis turned around to see the same silver and cyan dragon from before, though this time it was holding a book in it's small claws.
"Tamer's Guide to Seawyrm Pygmies...." she read the book's title out loud, the dragon making another noise, this one being of triumph as it motioned for Karis to take the book. Accepting, Karis flicked through the first few pages, before stopping as she came upon a picture. It was almost identical to the dragon that floated before her right now, and suddenly it all made sense to Karis. The pygmy dragon had answered her question by finding the right book! Was that why there were so many tiny dragons in the library?

Deciding to keep the book for now and read it anyways, she looked back to the Seawyrm Pygmy.
"Are there any books on Glaucus Drake dragons?" she asked it politely. The Seawyrm made another triumphant noise and quickly sped off, flying gracefully along the shelves of books until it found one a few shelves down. Karis watched it with interest as it picked out a specific book and flew back over to the blunette.

"Tamer's Guide to Glaucus Drakes," Karis read this second book's title out loud as well. It looked to be part of the same series as the one on Seawyrm Pygmies. With a small smile, Karis also accepted this book from the Seawyrm, and reached out to gently pet the pygmy's tiny head. The movement had felt much more natural than when she had tried to pet the head master's Howler Drake, perhaps because she wasn't as intimidated and cautious of the pygmy's appearance as she had initially been of the larger dragon.
"Thank you," she grinned, deciding that this was a genius way to help new students find their books, and also adjust to being around less-threatening dragons.

Drakon Academy [RP] - Page 3 Empty

Just as it appeared that Dean's research was getting him somewhere, a lound noise disturbed his concentration. Several loud noises actually. Shocked by what he had heard, he could only sit there frozen in horror, unknowing of the events that had transpired.
From what he knew, there had been a girl screaming, then a horrible squishy, shattering sound and then the screeches of a countless amount of the little beasts flying around.
The scenario these noises implied was obviously far from pleasant.
It certainly sounded as if the Pygmy Dragons had attacked and quite possibly killed or at least severely injured the girl who had screamed. If he hadn't been convinced of himself being doomed, now Dean certainly was. Still his fear of being the next victim and the general shock left him paralyzed, unable to walk over and see what happened for himself and to see the girl being alive and well - for the moment.
Getting away from the island was out of the question - going by the time they had spent flying swimming would never work and even if it would, there were many people with dragons out there who would be able to bring him back easily once they'd find him.
It seemed that his only chance for now was to wait and comply. Wait, comply and survive...
