| The squawk of the seagulls and the modest crash of the waves sounded in the ears of the man as he stood upon a dock. It was not an actual dock for ships though, as it split into quite a few helicopter pads. He stood alone at the only way to land from the docks, waiting for the arrival of the awaited. The sky around the island was dark with clouds, and it seemed almost as if harsh weather was going to begin around the island soon. The island itself, however had crystal clear skies with a bright and shining sun happily bestowing its light to the intricate structures of the academy below it.
The lonesome man reached into a pocket on his shirt, pulling out a golden pocket watch with an intricate design of two dragons seemingly chasing each other in a tight circle while grabbing each other's tail with their teeth, and a pearl in the middle. The pocketwatch was clicked shut and placed back into his pocket, as he heard the whirl of helicopter blades drawing near. He looked up to see the dark and sleek machines slowly lowering themselves to their assigned helipad, giving the students inside to obtain a look of the beautiful academy that shined as it seemed to take in the rays of the sun above.
Blades of the helicopters came to a halt, and the doors slid open as the students were ushered out of the helicopters and into a big group near the man that had waited so patiently for their arrival. He smiled warmly and welcoming, before he spoke, "Welcome Students, what you have set foot on, is where you shall stay for the next few years of your life. This is the place, where you will learn to fight, fly, feed, and care for, the very beast that has chosen you as its keeper. I'm sure you know very well, that this beast I speak of, is known as a Dragon."
"I, am Damien Shoals, but you shall address me as Mr. Shoals. Now, follow me, for your first day shall be a tour of the academy." The man turned without giving a chance for questions and began to walk towards the large front doors of the academy. Everything within the academy walls, seemed over sized, if one was good at the art of giving an educated guess, one would assume that it is due to the vast size of dragons. The high ceiling would allow dragons to walk through the school grounds with their masters, and allow smaller ones to fly over the heads of humans so to perform errands. That educated guess, would be correct, as Mr. Shoals explained the reasoning of the size to the students.
"Now, where we are right now, is the Central Hall, there are four wings to Drakon Academy, West, East, North, and South. Each wing is assigned a certain overall subject, but each has a large variety of classes within. The North Wing is Flight, South is Combat, East is Care and Incubation Rooms, and West is anything that doesn't quite fit the bill for anything else, such as Lunch Rooms, Libraries, and Dorms," Mr. Shoals paused, noticing that some of the students seemed to be looking around nervously, perhaps unnerved at how the halls seemed to be empty, and nobody but them was even around, not even any dragons.
"Now, now, don't get uneasy, class is just in session. Its required that every class stays indoors on Touring Day so as to not frighten you or if anything goes a bit...wrong. Wouldn't want you dying on your first day now would you?" Mr. Shoals turned quickly once more, not giving time for a reaction as he continued on. He brought the students through the school, showing them the entirety of the school, but the students had still yet to see any dragons.
Towards the end of the grand tour when he was showing them an extravagant garden the school owned to allow students a place to relax, one student seemed to be getting sick of not seeing a dragon, and shouted, "I want to see a dragon! What kind of academy is this if there's no Dragons!?"
Mr.Shoals suddenly stopped walking, slowly turning his head towards the interrupting and rather rude student, "So you want to see a dragon, eh?" he responded with a smile. The student flinched at the creepy smirk, but nodded. Out of nowhere, several sudden screeches sounded from atop a bell tower like structure that stood the tallest out of every building of the school. The pitched screeches caused everyone but Mr.Shoals to cover their ears and prevent them from bleeding.
When the rude student finally looked up to the source, he screamed in terror as a large beast with wide wings and strange antlers upon its head loomed over him in the air and plucked him out of the crowd and pulled him into the skies. The beast was dark with brown splashes and two large red eye looking circles on its wings with its wings going all down its tail. The beast seemed to be accompanied with several others just like it, but smaller. The boy screamed in terror while the dragons screeched with joy, tossing the boy between each other as if he were some plaything.
The dragons gave a rather beautiful display of flight while toying about, making long elegant turns and some quick snaps, swoops, and dives alike. Mr. Shoals waited while the boy was toyed with, until he at least made a loud clicking noise. The largest dragon hesitated in its flight as it heard the noise, and processed the order. It retrieved the boy from the other Howler Drakes, and dropped the boy into a nearby tree, causing him to fall out and curl into a ball, completely pale from fear for his life but his eyes wide with amazement.
The smaller Howlers seemed to fly to the other side of the school, disappearing from sight, while the largest landed behind Mr. Shoals, standing tall with its brilliant antlers and flaring out its wings behind him and giving a loud bellow as a finale for its performance.
"Satisfied?" he asked.
The boy nodded slowly.
"Any questions?" Mr. Shoals finally asked.

| A young female sat near the window inside the helicopter, nervously playing with the end of the braid that hung over her right shoulder. She was nervous, worried and unsure of what to expect from the school that she would be a part of for the next few years of her life, and the colour of the clouds on their journey here hadn't served to ease those nerves. Karis had been worried that a storm might start and with how high they were, and the metal of the helicopters, she was almost sure that they would end up being struck by the lightning.
Leaving her braided hair, her arms curled around the beautiful striped egg that lay in her lap. Only the top was visible, with it's different hued blues, the rest of it having been wrapped in a delicate cloth of similar colours, as if in attempt to protect it. For some reason, even though the object was so foreign to her, it made Karis feel safer when she wrapped her arms around it. It was an odd feeling, especially considering how dragons were known in stories for being destructive beasts that couldn't be tamed. Karis glanced to the other students that shared the helicopter journey with her, but found that she became uncomfortable and instead turned her violet gaze back to the window. To her surprise, the grey clouds that she had been so nervous about previously had been left behind and in it's place were cloudless, blue skies. Blinking in disbelief, Karis turned to glance through the other window, and could still see those grey storm clouds in the distance from the angle that the 'copter was travelling at. It was like the island was being guarded by those storm clouds, preventing any but the daring from finding the almost paradise-like island within them.
The bright sunlight also allowed Karis her first glances of the academy itself. The building was, to put it quite simply, huge - and incredibly intricate in it's design. Karis actually found herself staring at it in awe as the helicopter she was in descended to the dock along with the ones containing the other students that she would study alongside.
A short while later, she was on the ground and was quickly ushered out of the large helicopter. When hopping from the metal vehicle, Karis was careful to cradle the dragon egg so that she would not accidentally drop it. She milled around for a few moments, unsure of what to do or where to go, until one of the helicopter pilots pointed her in the direction of the head master, where most of the other students were now gathering in a large group. Quickly jogging over, Karis joined the back of the crowd, suddenly cursing her short height as she found that there were many taller people in front of her and she could hardly hear the head master, let alone see him. Though she could have just lived with it, Karis instead scanned the gathering of students for gaps and quickly began to dodge through the crowd of moving bodies getting closer inch by inch until she could clearly hear and see Mr. Shoals.
Still cradling the blue striped egg in her arms as the head master of the academy spoke, Karis listened intently to his words, hoping to learn as much as she could about the place where she would spend the next few years of her life. She had to admit, as the man spoke, she could almost feel a small flame of excitement begin to light within her, or maybe it was just terror. After all, these creatures whose lives she was now entwined with were powerful beings that could likely kill a human with a flick of their tail.
The feeling within her became almost a pit of nervousness as the throng of new students were lead away from the salty sea air of the docks and towards the academy building itself. As Mr. Shoals explained that the building was only empty because classes were in session, Karis actually felt disappointed in herself that she hadn't noticed that like she normally would. Instead her thoughts were wondering what sorts of classes they would teach in each of the designated wings of the school. Out of the four wings, she had to admit the North wing was the one she was most excited about. Out of everything mentioned so far, flying was what had captured her imagination the most. She had often watched birds in her home town, wondering what it was like to be so free that you weren't forced to remain on the ground. She had been so lost in her imagination that the emptiness of the academy hadn't even concerned her. The headmaster's comment about not wanting them to die on their first day made her feel uneasy once more though. Surely they had safety precautions so dying wasn't a common thing or anything, right?
Karis was busy admiring the gardens themselves, fully taking in and learning anything she could about this amazing school that she was lucky enough to be a part of, when the boy had called out about not seeing any dragons. The young female's violet eyes immediately looked up and scanned the skies around them. Despite his rudeness, he was right. After all, she hadn't noted a single dragon since they'd arrived.
When the sudden screeching began things everything seemed to slow down as Karis found herself with an overwhelming urge to cover her ears in order to protect them from the sound. The only problem was, she couldn't because she was cradling her dragon's egg. Unwilling to just drop the egg in order to protect her ears, Karis quickly sank down to the ground, cradling the egg in her lap and swiftly moving her now-free hands to her ears in order to protect them from the shrieking sounds as other students did the same.
Looking up with her violet eyes, Karis' gaze followed the boy with fear for his life. However, despite that fear, she found herself entranced by the actions of both the large and smaller dragons. Though all logic said she should be scared of them, she found that she was instead admiring them from her kneeling position on the ground. Her violet eyes were wide as she watched the dragon's elegant manoeuvres in awe, and though it was only for a short time, she found that the display only strengthened her resolve to do her best here at this specialised academy.
When the screeching stopped, Karis lowered her hands from her ears and once again wrapped her arms protectively around the blue striped egg that had brought her to Drakon Academy. Was there really a creature as incredible as that waiting to be born from this egg? Would she really have the opportunity to see dragons as gentle and playful beings rather than the destructive beasts from stories?
Karis looked up at Mr. Shoal's question, watching the Howler Drake that stood tall behind the head master. She carefully got to her feet once more and took a few steps towards the man. After a moment, she hesitated, stopping in her tracks. There were so many people here... and her question was less a question, and more a request. Her violet eyes turned from the dragon to the ground, except her egg met her gaze first. Her family had always told her to be more confident, but she had never had a reason to and was more content to stick to the shadows. Perhaps she could learn to be that, here, where no one knew her. She wanted to learn more about dragons after all but it just felt like a dream right now. Like these albeit intimidating, but thoroughly amazing creatures were nothing but a dream... but being able to touch the magnificent dragon would make it all real.
There was no harm in asking.. was there? These were her thoughts as she took another tentative step towards the headmaster, all of these thoughts spanning through her mind within the course of a few seconds.
She could at least ask.
Barely more than a whisper, she spoke, raising her gaze from her striped egg to Mr. Shoals. "This might sound.. silly, but i-is it okay to touch her?" she asked, before worrying that she might not have been specific enough, "I- I mean, could I touch your dragon?"

| Patience huddled down on her helicopter seat, wincing whenever someone else brushed up against her. She was very uncomfortable with all the people around, and she had to keep her eyes focused on the cold egg in her lap to avoid meeting anyone's gaze. She didn't want to get engaged in a conversation where someone might get mad at her, after all.
She was grateful when the helicopters finally landed and she was able to get out of the flying metal death trap that was a helicopter -she was so sure they were all going to die when the helicopter had landed... all that bouncing up and down had made her sick to her stomach. Patience gripped the cold egg in her arms tightly, not wanting to drop it.
She kept on the outskirts of the group, nearer to the front so that she could hear the headmaster as he explained about the Academy. She shuddered when he mentioned dying. He had to be joking, right?
She froze in absolute fear when the rude kid stepped forward and challenged the man. She shrunk and let out a small whimper when the kid was hoisted into the air by the dragons and she closed her eyes tightly to the screams, unable to do anything but stand frozen, listening to the shrieks, each one carving into her like a knife into butter. By the time the kid was released, Patience was a shuddering mess, barely able to stand as her entire body shivered uncontrollably.
She flinched visibly when the headmaster next spoke, barely daring to breathe as he asked if anyone had questions. NO WAY! She had no questions for the crazy man... she'd never talk to him if she could help it -she would always remember the boy's terrified screams every time she got near the man, now. She froze again, breath dying in her throat as she heard a girl dare to ask if she could touch the man's dragon. How foolish could that girl be after what had just happened?
Patience shuddered. What exactly had she gotten herself into, picking up the cold egg in her arms that day... it seemed so long ago but it had only been a week, hadn't it? She shuddered again, awaiting the headmaster's response to the cheeky girl.

| This was it. His life was over. Soon the damned helicopter would land, stranding him on an island full of madmen, feeble-minded children and murderous beasts. Wistfully Dean remembered his old life once more. He had been on the best way to becoming a world-famous prosecutor, an important figure in society and someone the world could and would look up to. But instead he just had to be chosen by that stupid thing in its stupid egg. Why did the law he had been working so hard to represent have to turn against him like this? Why couldn't he just throw the egg into the ocean to get rid of it? Wouldn't that solve all problems and keep him away from the damn island? No, he was in this helicopter together with about twenty other victims, taken towards what was supposed to be a "school". Maybe this was all just a dream? Yes, it just had to be a dream. There was no way something this horrible could happen to someone with such influential parents, such a promising career in front of them. Closing his eyes as tightly as he could, the young man then pinched himself in the arm. A sharp pain jolted through the limb, sadly proving to him that this was anything but a dream. He was going to have to care for what would most likely become a gigantic waste of space and ressources.
And then finally it happened. Charon's flying boat had landed in Hades, delivering Dean to his eternal damnation. Rolling his eyes, the young male watched the other students practically burst out of the flying vehicles they had arrived in. Just how could one be excited about losing their life to a biological machine of death with the mental capacities of common vegetables? But seeing as he wouldn't be getting around this, eventually the cynical boy had to leave the helicopter himself as well. Their jailer introduced himself as "Mr. Shoals", a name Dean was sure he would learn to loathe over the following years. If he would survive for that long that was. Hearing that the man would be taking them for a tour through the facilities, the student braced himself, fully expecting to find a janitor cleaning the remains of a student off of some wall. Finally the group had entered what appeared to be the main building and Dean's worst fears were surpassed even. The building was positively gigantic, indicating that the beasts they would have to raise would reach similar sizes.
And then the damn Shoals guy just had to open his accursed mouth again. Wouldn't want you dying on your first day, would you? was what he said. This perso knew fully well how dangerously lethal all of this would be and still he was joyfully forcing innocent, promising teenagers to go through with this. One promising teenager at least. Dean would have loved to punch the man right now, would he not have known that this guy most likely had access to quite a few of these creatures that would tear him limg from limb most likely. The tour continued on, each and every minute making Dean wish more that he would have access to an extra pair of pants. How could something like this even be legal? The disgruntled student found himself questioning the "combat" class. Dragons most likely would not be in need of any teaching about how to fight, seeing as how they were practically designed to be destructive. For the students to fight one another wouldn't make much sense either as this place was supposed to be about dragons, wasn't it? So the only remaining option was that the class would teach one how to fight against dragons, which would mean that they all - Dean most importantly - but they all were positively, completely and utterly screwed. And he hadn't even had the time to build a legacy or make a name for himself. The only title he would ever reach would probably be "The guy who died first".
Then however another student spoke up, complaining about the lack of dragons apparently. Was this person quite possibly not right in the head? Would that guy ask for a hairdryer and a bathtub next? Well, at least this meant that Dean wouldn't be the first one to die, even though he had hoped to be able to at least survive the first day without having to witness an execution. Suddenly a shrill, painful noise filled the air, making the ex-law student and apparently many, many other students cover their ears in pain. What kind of creature, what kind of...thing was capable of producing sounds like these? The young man really would rather not know, but he had the bad feeling that he would very soon. And indeed several dragons descended from who-knows-where, one of them grabbing the poor idiot and then tossing him to another dragon and so on. This truly was no school, this was a torture chamber. Dean would not have been surprised, would the student require psychatric help afterwards, even if he were to survive this gruesome spectacle. Finally Mr. Shoals called back the flying beasts, returning the boy to the more-or-less safe ground again. How could someone who allowed for things like these to happen with one's students ever become a teacher or the head of the academy even? Something was fishy here, that was for sure. But what exactly Dean did not know yet. Other students seemed to care for their lives even less, seeing as how one of them even asked for permission to touch that beast that could very well have killed that other student just mere minutes ago and probably had traumatized him for the rest of his life, however short it may be. So here Dean was. Trapped with the insane teachers and the insane students on an island filled with flying creatures of death. And he would have to raise one of them on his own.

| In his lap, Morgan held tight onto the whole reason he was on board the helicopter in the first place, staring down at the egg. He had tried to talk to a few of the other people on the helicopter, but they seemed to be preoccupied. So now he just found himself in thought, and realizing exactly how screwed up the situation was. What if his egg hatched into some sort of huge dragon? What if he couldn't keep it under control? The second thought worried him more than the first one, and shut him up for the rest of the flight. No pressure, right?
Once the helicopter landed, the boy disembarked from the vehicle and stepped outside, egg held in his hands as the headmaster spoke, introducing himself and explaining what they were going to do. Morgan stayed towards the back of the group, looking around and taking the scenery in. The island had a completely different look from what he was used to back at home, something foreign to him, but not unwelcome.
What was unwelcome, though, was the comment the Headmaster made about dying. It wasn't unexpected, after all, they were raising dragons for crying out loud. From what he had read, he would have been surprised if there were no problems that had occurred before. Not surprising, but still unwelcome. Despite that tidbit of information, the grounds of the academy seemed fairly nice. Everything was separated into different wings of the area, there was even a garden to relax in, and overall nothing horrible had happened yet. That was always a plus.
And then somebody had to speak up. At the kid's demand, a series of horrible, high-pitched screeches caught Morgan off guard, making him immediately bring his hands up to his ears to cover them. Which meant that he was no longer holding the egg, he realized in a second of hindsight. Quickly moving, he closed his legs together, catching the egg between them and letting out a sigh of relief as he watched the display occurring overhead. If he had been the one being tossed around, he was sure he would be fairly terrified. But, since he wasn't, he was able to appreciate the grace, and the lack of maiming and/or killing the kid.
Once the dragons disappeared once more, he reached down and grabbed his egg, holding it carefully in his arms. He didn't have any serious questions he needed answer, at least, none he was willing to ask here after that display. The girl who did ask something caught the boy by surprise as he tried to poke his head over the others, looking up at her to see if the Headmaster would approve of her request to touch the dragon.

| "I- I mean, could I touch your dragon?"
Mr. Shoals did not seem surprised that the student asked to touch the Howler. Someone every year always asked about touching a grown dragon during the tour, just like how someone demanded to see the dragons every year. It was practically routine for the howlers to toy with someone, the boy that had been tossed about was surprisingly unharmed, just frightened out of his wits. The Headmaster stepped to the side, this would be the perfect first lesson.
"This, is my own personal dragon. She had chosen me as her keeper, and I have raised and trained her since I was a small boy. You may pet her," Ian had moved far enough to allow the girl to walk forward and approach the dragon. She reached out her hand as she approached the dragon cautiously, her hand seemed to shake as she approached the large beast, and was within an inch from the Howler's nuzzle.
The Howler raised its head up high, turning its head away from the girl as it turned and walked in a circle to get farther from the girl, emitting a few pitched chirps as it did so. Once it had gotten a few feet away from the girl, she glared and opened her jaw in a lower pitched and slightly longer screech in rage, obviously not wanting to be touched. It raised its head up and down quickly, showing off her antlers to intimidate the girl from coming any closer.
Mr. Shoals spoke up, "Dragons are picky creatures, it is incredibly hard to change a dragon's opinion about someone, almost impossible if they're the one it has chosen to raise it. To gain a dragon's trust is to gain their life. If a dragon is to be separated from their keeper against their will, they will do anything reunite, and as for a rejected dragon, they're a dead dragon," Mr. Shoals paused as the Howler gave off a hiss at the words "dead dragon" and seemed to eye the students before returning to Shoal's side.
He looked back to the girl to see that she seemed to be looking to him for advice on how one pets a dragon. He patted on his side for the Howler to come closer, and the beast approached to the direct side of him with its wings still flared out and the intimidating red markings glaring down on the students. Mr. Shoals reached up a hand and placed it between the antlers with ease, "If you want to even try to touch another's dragon, you're going to need more than the keeper's permission. The dragons may be as loyal as dogs, but that doesn't mean they will obey every command they give. They will do what they think is best for your well being, taking theirs own into consideration at second place."
"ShutUp, don't question the name, here doesn't quite fancy the fearful. Each dragon has a taste, and they base their keeper around that taste. When I say taste, I do mean two different things. A untrained, unbonded, and untamed dragon, one that doesn't go through proper training that the academy provides, will make a snack out of you. However, I also mean taste as in the kind of personality and person you truly are that they favor. If you want to pet my dragon, you're going to have to find out her taste, and act accordingly when approaching so she wont hate your very guts at the least. You're free to try again however whenever you please," He proposed the challenge to any student that heard.

| Oddly, Karis wasn't as intimidated by the Howler's display as she would have thought she'd be, instead she just respected the dragon more. It was no pet or toy, it was a living, breathing, being of it's own, and it had proven this to her in this simple gesture. She listened intently to Mr. Shoal's words, as if making mental notes of everything he said.
After he was finished speaking, she found herself smiling. Rather than being disappointed that she was unable to touch the Howler Drake, she instead found herself with a determination to learn as much as she could about her own dragon, to share in it's experiences and learn it's personal preferences as Mr. Shoals had done with his own dragon.
The small smile still gracing her face, she whispered a small, "Thank you, sir," before moving backward toward the crowd. When she turned, she realised once again the number of people behind her, and clutched the egg in her arms a little tighter for comfort as she tried not to show that the number of students in the crowd actually intimidated her a little now that all was said and done.

| Man that hurt. Was all that went through the blonds head as he still held his head, he didn't get his hands up fast enough so his head was pounding hands slightly shaken and what he feared to be blood going down his hands, he couldn't hear though he knew the headmaster was talking it didn't chAnge the fact that he didn't know what he was saying. The teen hoped it wasn't anything he'd need later like the secrets of life or how not to be eaten by his Dragon.
Dragon it still sounded strange either in his head or said out loud, he knew they existed in video games and such but how and why we're they real and how did he get one himself? These questions came to mind as he slowly moved his arms down and looked at his hands, only a few drops of blood and he got his hearing back for now as he turned his head to look at the headmaster again.
He sighed in relief as it seemed he didn't miss much at all, some girl had just walked down from the large Dragon. Hunter wondered why she was up next to the large beast but decided it wasn't important enough to care about. He then remembered he had put his egg down and quickly snatched it back up and held it in his hands, he then paid more attention to what was going on around him.
Hunter was slightly shocked when he said if you reject a dragon it's dead, did having a human there with it change how it acted somehow it's a dragon even if it was just born he wouldn't want to go near it. He did notice the Dragon look over the student's and Hunter just started back at it trying to show no fear, he figured there was no way it would attack it's owner was right there.
"Weird" he said to himself as the headmaster said they try to take care of the keeper they have, so it seemed like a two way partnership one helps the other. It was weird to think something as big as a dragon needed someone to help out but the headmaster seemed to know what he was talking about.
Hunter was confused when he didn't want them to question the names, it must if been something that happened when he was deaf. Still slightly passed about that now. He felt like asking to try and touch the Dragon himself, not because of the challenge the headmaster seemed to put out but because he wanted to at least try. But then he figured he could try again later when it was a free period or lunch.

| When the Howler reacted to the girl's attempt to touch her, Morgan flinched and took a step back. It might not have had the same effect on the girl who went to pet the creature, but it definitely worked for him. He didn't feel like taking his chances and asking to pet her, especially not without having been taught about dragons a bit more. At the moment, he really didn't know much.
As the headmaster continued to speak, the boy nodded his head and frowned, hearing what he had to say about what would happen to rejected dragons. That combined with the dragon eyeing the students only made him hold onto his egg tighter now, and gave him another question, though he wasn't comfortable asking. What if they had found an egg that hadn't chosen them? What if someone else was supposed to find it and they just found it first? What would happen if the dragon rejected the human? He let these thoughts sit in his mind and tried to keep himself appearing relatively calm, simply staying put and waiting for things to continue, wanting to continue on so he could take his mind off of his prior questions.

| So - rejecting a dragon kills it. Then why did they all have to be here for the sole reason of learning how not to be killed by their own dragon if that was all they would have to do to get rid of it permanently? In any case - things had gone surprisingly well for the foolish girl who had actually asked to touch that dragon. Dean had already been sure for her not to survive the encounter unharmed, but apparently he was wrong there. Maybe Mr. Shoals just didn't want to incite a riot against him while each and every single one of the students was standing right in front of him. But to focus on his "studies" - now all those dragons had individual preferences and such too? This definitely was not going to end well at all. Once the dragons would hatch, there would be about a thousand of them around and if a few of them would decide that they don't like him for whatever reason, then that would be...bad to say the very least. There were so many questions, so many complaints flying through Dean's head, but he stopped himself from voicing them. After all if he knew one thing it was "Don't piss off the guy with the dragon." | |

| Patience watched warily as the headmaster allowed the girl to approach his dragon, only to close her eyes fearfully when the dragon shrieked and showed off its sharp antlers, not wanting to see the girl gored on those vicious points.
The headmaster began to talk once more and Patience dared to open her eyes to see that the girl had stopped, thankfully. The headmaster began to explain about a dragon's loyalty and 'tastes' of people other than their keeper. She winced at the reminder that a dragon could easily gobble her up in a moment if it wanted to.
She was surprised when the headmaster revealed that a dragon could be killed by rejection... but what if the dragon rejected the human? After all, there were wild dragons that DIDN'T have a keeper... what if her dragon rejected her? Would it eat her up? Or would it die? She looked down at the cold egg in her arms and was surprised by the wave of sadness that washed over her at the thought of the dragon inside dying...
The words escaped her lips before her mind caught up to her mouth. "W-what if the d-dragon r-rejects you?" the words were soft and quiet, but she was close enough to the headmaster that she was sure he heard it. She clamped her mouth shut and froze, afraid of the man's response to her impertinent questioning.

| Huh, that was a change, the first person to address him called him "Sir", usually it was either an emotional wreck that was forced to come here calling him the scum of the earth or just plain Mr. Shoals. He continued to smile, beginning to enjoy the tour a bit more than faking the smile. The smile faded when the question was asked about a dragon rejected the keeper. He spoke, "Excellent question. Usually students are too fearful of the answer to ask it. It is quite difficult for a trained dragon to reject you, seeing as it was the one to choose you. It would take quite a lot of sudden change in a person for the dragon to reject you, small shifts over time like a normal person they can adjust to, but let's say one day you're the bravest soul in the universe, something happens and you flip and become cowardly on a dime. The dragon will disown you, and attack you, eat you if it can. You may get to control them on the most part, and have their protection, but you're the one they chose and you're also the one to raise them." "Dragons that have had no training, can turn on their keepers very easily. The untrained dragon will eat their master and live off out in the world on their own, doing what dragons do best; Killing anything that moves and disrupting the peace. There isn't a single dragon that has not had a master save for the Elementals, Avatars, and Guardian of Nature, those you shall learn about in your Egg Care classes." The dragon behind Mr.Shoals suddenly shifted, and she turned her head to look up at the skies. The dragon flapped its wings slightly and reared onto two legs, giving a short pitched squawk before landing back on all four legs and nudging Mr. Shoals's shoulder. The headmaster grabbed onto the dragon's antler to stop the nudging and spoke, "I'm going to have to ask that you hold all other questions until later, for it's time to head to your Egg Care class and find out what breed your egg is going to be and assign your classes accordingly. I could probably sit here and tell you every single one, but I'm apparently not 'professional' enough despite being Headmaster. Come along," he gestured for the students to follow. The group shuffled over to the East Wing of the academy, and he led the groups to a special room that had red lighting and a whole shelf of eggs in hay like nests sitting along the wall. The room was rather warm compared to the outside, and the students were finally able to see the first dragon at the academy that wasn't a Howler Drake. It seemed to be all on its own in a corner, slumbering away with several eggs under its enormous claws. Its nose pointed down at the eggs, and with every breath it exhaled, flame exited its nostrils and warmed the eggs, incubating them. When the group entered, the red beast seem to wake, raising its head and looking drowsily at the group of new students. It gave off a yawn, its mouth opening wide and showing the sharp dagger like teeth the beast contained within its maw. "This, is the incubation room. Ol' Red here incubates the eggs and allows them to hatch faster. This is also where Ms. Linani will identify your eggs and tell you which species you will get. Some students like to keep their appearance a surprise, so we don't tell you what it will look like. However you are free to head to the library to research your species." It seemed to be a moment before Ms. Linani actually entered the room, she seemed to be carrying a stack of books with many papers on top held down by a clipboard. She placed the books on a examination table and brought down the clipboard, "Okay Okay I'm here i'm here. We shall be going in order of arrival, first up is...Karis Linnea, then Patience Davis, Dean Kato, Morgan Asher, Hunter Shinka and Nevil Shortop. All six of you please bring your eggs up to the examination table for examining." Once the group had hustled their eggs up to the examination table, the Nevil Shortop being the boy that had questioned the presence of dragons earlier, the teacher went over each and every egg carefully and in order of how she had called them, "Glaucus Drake, and...I'll get back to this one-" "Vampire Dragon," Mr. Shoals interrupted the teacher with an exasperated sigh as he leaned back against a wall. "I'm the professional here! Now, Dean Kato, your dragon is a Cassare Dragon, Falconiform Wyvern, Blue-Banded Dragon, and...well i'll be, a Cheese Dragon." The teacher blinked with surprise, looking at Nevil's dragon egg, "That's interesting, now back to this one," she pointed to the one she had to skip over. She picked up the egg and examined it closely while mumbling, "Feels cold, cross like markings, two rather large puncture holes...I do believe it's a vampire dragon!" "Told you." "Shush you!" she hissed to the Headmaster, who didn't seem to care for the way he was being spoken to, only bored and annoyed. The teacher continued, "Ok, now back away from the examining table and leave your eggs be there. Be sure to get a good distance or you might get burned." As she spoke, the red dragon had shoved aside its current eggs and stood up nice and tall, smoke erupting from its nostrils and flames emitting from its jaws but not coming out at full blast just yet. Common sense would say, that the dragon was about to breath its fire on the eggs below. | |

| Patience gulped at the idea of a dragon eating her because it didn't like her. But at least it wouldn't be automatic, it seemed. She privately thought that the dragon inside her egg must have been confused when it showed itself to her, though. What kind of dragon would want a shy, quiet coward like her anyway? She kept her thoughts to herself though as the headmaster lead them to the Egg Care classroom. She was nervous to find out what kind of dragon was inside the egg she carried.
She was so anxious that when the teacher called her name, she let out an involuntary squeak. She turned red as some heads turned toward her from the other students, and put her head down, staring at her egg before forcing her stiff legs to move, bringing the egg to the front after the girl who had asked about touching a dragon.
Patience's breath caught as the teacher passed over her egg to move on to the others and turned pale at the headmaster's muttered words. Vampire Dragon?! Surely there wasn't really such a thing that existed was there? Her hopes were dashed as the teacher moved her attention back to Patience's egg and muttered for a second before declaring it a Vampire Dragon as well.
Patience gulped, taking a quick step back when the red dragon moved forward. A... a Vampire Dragon had chosen her as its keeper?! How had such a thing happened... unless it believed it could easily overpower her and be free -which it could. She paled even further and brought up her hands to her face, barely keeping terrified tears from escaping her. But despite her fear of being eaten, she couldn't imagine turning away from the egg or leaving the Academy, even if she had the chance. The poor egg looked like it had been abandoned... she would have to look up everything she could on the species. Books were good; they never ate anyone or hurt anyone -unless you counted paper cuts, but Patience never really got paper cuts anyway. She took in a deep breath and let it out. She would calm down and reserve judgements until she learned more about the dragon she was to be the keeper of.

| The headmaster's explanation seemed to illuminate multiple reasons as to why they were here at the academy. It wasn't just for the benefit of the dragons within the eggs, but also for their own. After all, if they didn't know how to treat a dragon, how to respect it as an individual, it could just as easily eat it's human companion and go off on it's own once it was big enough.
Karis didn't quite agree with the headmaster's summary though. To her - though she had to admit she had seen very little of dragons - dragons weren't just killing machines. Surely they weren't best at just destroying, when they were capable of such majestic displays like those of the Howler Drakes previously. Nevertheless, Karis kept her thoughts to herself as the large group of students was ushered towards what she could only assume was the room in which they would have their Egg Care classes.
The first thing Karis noticed as she stepped into the room was the dragon with ruby red scales that was sleeping in one corner. She had heard it's steady breathing and her attention had been promptly drawn towards it. Just like the Howlers, it looked like a formidable being should you have to fight it, but as well, held a certain majesty that you could not find within others creatures that dwelled upon this planet. She was startled slightly as the large dragon awoke, but soon calmed, marvelling at the now awake creature. It was only a few moments later however, that she was distracted by the words of Mr. Shoals and the arrival of Ms. Linani.
Karis was a little surprised as her name was called first. Yet again she would have to stand before that huge crowd of students... and this time she wouldn't just be anonymous. They'd know her as the one who had asked to touch the huge Howler Drake back in the academy's gardens. Struggling to ignore all the eyes that were upon her, Karis made her way over to the table and gently placed her striped dragon egg upon it, slipping off the cloth that she had wrapped around it's base so that the teacher might get a better look.
A Glaucus Drake. That was what Ms. Linani had identified the egg as. Even the name sounded elegant, intriguing the egg's keeper more and more by the moment. She blinked and watched as the other eggs were identified before the tutor returned to identify the egg belonging to the girl next to her as a Vampire Dragon.
Karis couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl, even as Ms. Linani confirmed the headmaster's identification. She knew nothing about Vampire Dragons or what they were like, but the girl looked positively terrified. That was, until a few moments later when she seemed to compose herself, much to Karis' relief. She had wanted to say something to her, maybe try to quell whatever fears that the girl held in her heart, but she wasn't great at talking to others.
Before she could think about it any more, the tutor who had identified majority of their eggs asked them to step back, and so Karis did as she was bid. She was reluctant to leave her egg behind though. It was already precious to her, despite only being an egg. She just hoped that whatever would hatch from within would be just as willing to be her companion.

| Hunter looked at the girl who asked the simple question,it was something Hunter hadn't even considered if something as big as a dragon decided you were not good enough to be a keeper then what would happen to him. Hunter was known for slightly changing depending on the situation would his Dragon kill him when he got serious about something?
Hunter then let out something of a small sigh of relief happy he wouldn't be eaten after hearing this, all her would need to do is not change nor be a jerk to his Dragon sounded easy. Hunter then felt he was being to laid back about this getting taken from his home forced here and for some reason got a dragon.
"Man a lot of eating others" Hunter said to himself seeing as how the dragon's who were not trained sounded like they eat people, a lot. But as he said having a dragon will be good and not training it will get you ate. But wait he said if a dragon is rejected they'd die but if they reject the master they don't? This confused Hunter but before he could say anything they were off to another room.
Hunter smirked as he saw the giant red Dragon sitting there he wanted to touch it badly it seemed really cool to him. But he remembered what happened to the girl who she touched the Dragon and decided to remain where he was just in case this one wanted to eat him.
Hunter was a bit surprised when his name was called, normally he was never first for anything but technically he wasn't this time either but one of the first called so that was a win. He walked over when it was his turn and placed his egg on the table.
He listened the the little banter between the headmaster and the one identifying the eggs and let out a little chuckle. That's when he learned his Dragon was called blue-banded and he instantly wondered what it would look like, he lost himself in his thoughts so he almost didn't notice the other students backing up so he did the same with a small leap back just in time to notice Ol' Red starting up a fire breath
