Drakon Academy [RP]

The squawk of the seagulls and the modest crash of the waves sounded in the ears of the man as he stood upon a dock. It was not an actual dock for ships though, as it split into quite a few helicopter pads. He stood alone at the only way to land from the docks, waiting for the arrival of the awaited. The sky around the island was dark with clouds, and it seemed almost as if harsh weather was going to begin around the island soon. The island itself, however had crystal clear skies with a bright and shining sun happily bestowing its light to the intricate structures of the academy below it.

The lonesome man reached into a pocket on his shirt, pulling out a golden pocket watch with an intricate design of two dragons seemingly chasing each other in a tight circle while grabbing each other's tail with their teeth, and a pearl in the middle. The pocketwatch was clicked shut and placed back into his pocket, as he heard the whirl of helicopter blades drawing near. He looked up to see the dark and sleek machines slowly lowering themselves to their assigned helipad, giving the students inside to obtain a look of the beautiful academy that shined as it seemed to take in the rays of the sun above.

Blades of the helicopters came to a halt, and the doors slid open as the students were ushered out of the helicopters and into a big group near the man that had waited so patiently for their arrival. He smiled warmly and welcoming, before he spoke, "Welcome Students, what you have set foot on, is where you shall stay for the next few years of your life. This is the place, where you will learn to fight, fly, feed, and care for, the very beast that has chosen you as its keeper. I'm sure you know very well, that this beast I speak of, is known as a Dragon."

"I, am Damien Shoals, but you shall address me as Mr. Shoals. Now, follow me, for your first day shall be a tour of the academy." The man turned without giving a chance for questions and began to walk towards the large front doors of the academy. Everything within the academy walls, seemed over sized, if one was good at the art of giving an educated guess, one would assume that it is due to the vast size of dragons. The high ceiling would allow dragons to walk through the school grounds with their masters, and allow smaller ones to fly over the heads of humans so to perform errands. That educated guess, would be correct, as Mr. Shoals explained the reasoning of the size to the students.

"Now, where we are right now, is the Central Hall, there are four wings to Drakon Academy, West, East, North, and South. Each wing is assigned a certain overall subject, but each has a large variety of classes within. The North Wing is Flight, South is Combat, East is Care and Incubation Rooms, and West is anything that doesn't quite fit the bill for anything else, such as Lunch Rooms, Libraries, and Dorms," Mr. Shoals paused, noticing that some of the students seemed to be looking around nervously, perhaps unnerved at how the halls seemed to be empty, and nobody but them was even around, not even any dragons.

"Now, now, don't get uneasy, class is just in session. Its required that every class stays indoors on Touring Day so as to not frighten you or if anything goes a bit...wrong. Wouldn't want you dying on your first day now would you?" Mr. Shoals turned quickly once more, not giving time for a reaction as he continued on. He brought the students through the school, showing them the entirety of the school, but the students had still yet to see any dragons.

Towards the end of the grand tour when he was showing them an extravagant garden the school owned to allow students a place to relax, one student seemed to be getting sick of not seeing a dragon, and shouted, "I want to see a dragon! What kind of academy is this if there's no Dragons!?"

Mr.Shoals suddenly stopped walking, slowly turning his head towards the interrupting and rather rude student, "So you want to see a dragon, eh?" he responded with a smile. The student flinched at the creepy smirk, but nodded. Out of nowhere, several sudden screeches sounded from atop a bell tower like structure that stood the tallest out of every building of the school. The pitched screeches caused everyone but Mr.Shoals to cover their ears and prevent them from bleeding.

When the rude student finally looked up to the source, he screamed in terror as a large beast  with wide wings and strange antlers upon its head loomed over him in the air and plucked him out of the crowd and pulled him into the skies. The beast was dark with brown splashes and two large red eye looking circles on its wings with its wings going all down its tail. The beast seemed to be accompanied with several others just like it, but smaller. The boy screamed in terror while the dragons screeched with joy, tossing the boy between each other as if he were some plaything.

The dragons gave a rather beautiful display of flight while toying about, making long elegant turns and some quick snaps, swoops, and dives alike. Mr. Shoals waited while the boy was toyed with, until he at least made a loud clicking noise. The largest dragon hesitated in its flight as it heard the noise, and processed the order. It retrieved the boy from the other Howler Drakes, and dropped the boy into a nearby tree, causing him to fall out and curl into a ball, completely pale from fear for his life but his eyes wide with amazement.

The smaller Howlers seemed to fly to the other side of the school, disappearing from sight, while the largest landed behind Mr. Shoals, standing tall with its brilliant antlers and flaring out its wings behind him and giving a loud bellow as a finale for its performance.

"Satisfied?" he asked.

The boy nodded slowly.

"Any questions?" Mr. Shoals finally asked.

((I just got Inu accepted. She was always here...... You saw nothing.))

Inu had been quiet this whole time. When she looked back on the boy getting lifted into the air, she kind of freaked out. She was scared, but had been clutching her egg really tight, so Inu hadn't really covered her ears, but she survived.

When Mr. Shoals had mentioned getting killed in the beginning of the tour, this also frightened her. Who would mention such things to a group of teens who weren't aware dragons actually walked the earth? Yeah, Inu was excited, and she thought dragons were cool, but that was freaking scary.

Then there was the time the girl had asked to touch the dragon. Inu had wanted to just as much, but was too shy to ask to. By the way the dragon had recoiled, she was glad she hadn't asked. The dragon looked horrifying when it used its horns like that.

They were guided into what was explained as the 'Egg Care' classes room. The big red scaled dragon looked at all the students an equal amount of time, and Inu thought she was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Or at least she thought it was female. Anyway, it was pretty. The teacher had called up everyone else, but hadn't heard her name. 'That's strange... shouldn't my name have been called?' She thought. Inu raised her hand, Akua sitting next to her. "Uhm, excuse me, but my name wasn't called." She said with all her courage. Inu was not about to be left out or excluded. She was brave about this part.

So...only a sudden change in character would make your dragon reject you, if they had picked you in the first place. A sudden change like going from an area you're nearly alone in and completely comfortable in to an area you're uncomfortable in with all sorts of people you might be nervous talking to, maybe? Great. Morgan nodded his head silently in response to the answer of the question the other girl had asked, the same question that had been on his mind.

Continuing on with the group, the boy had to push his jacket sleeves up upon entering the incubation room in the East Wing, still near the back of the group, but poking his head up high enough to look at the beast that sat among several eggs, letting out the occasional spurt of fire to heat the eggs. It was huge, larger than any animal he had run into before, and somehow it was both incredibly cool and absolutely terrifying to him. Maybe it was cool because he didn't have to control it or worry about it snatching him up, as opposed to his own dragon.

While he was in thought, Morgan almost missed his name being called. Quickly fumbling through the group with some muttered apologies, he made it to the front and stepped on up to the examination table, placing his egg down and listening intently to what it was decided to be. The woman, Ms.Linani, seemed a bit odd to him. He didn't like how she brushed off Ian so easily, especially when he was right about what the dragon was. Even if the man admittedly scared him. Thinking on his dragon's name though, he committed it to memory. Falconiform Wyvern? It sounded like a Falcon. Maybe it was as small as a Falcon? Or big as far as dragons go, like Falcons were big as far as birds went. He would probably have to research it.

Once again, he almost missed out on the message as they were instructed to back away from the table. Somewhat hesitantly, he backed away, watching as what was called Ol' Red seemed to be readying a strong blast of fire. It wouldn't be too much for the eggs, would it? They were dragons, yeah, but fire was still powerful. As he watched, he turned and looked at the girl who had seemed to be terrified of her egg, her name was Patience he believed. She seemed more composed now, though he still felt like he should try to say something at least. Putting on his attempt at a friendly face, he wondered what to say...
"You know, eggs are completely incapable of harming the average human."
Perfect.

As the students stepped away, the red dragon's eyes seemed to grow wide as flames erupted from its throat and completely engulfed the eggs in flames. One could only see the shapes of the eggs through the flame, and when the flame ceased, all that was seen was a red sizzling oval. The red dragon moved forward, picking up each egg carefully between his claws, and setting each egg in their own nest on the shelf, Ms. Linani marked each egg with a name tag of each student on the shelf, "Leave these here until your next class tomorrow and they should have cooled down by then and you can even begin to touch them-"

"Uhm, excuse me, but my name wasn't called," called a student.

Ms. Linani froze, turning sharply to face the student as she was interrupted, "Uhm, excuse me, but neither was any of the other 30 to 50 students here O special prodigy of mine," the teacher snipped harshly before returning to her check board and calling out the names of other students, "Inu Senshi, Mark Rogue, Kingston Nick, Kyrie Vagabond..." she listed off the names of students in groups of six, identifying each egg with the occasional look back to a book for a reference and sending their eggs through the Incubation Process.

"Alright, those who's eggs have been incubated please gather over by me so we have a general idea of how much longer this is going to take," Mr. Shoals asked of the students, standing at the opposite side of the room near an exit while Linani and Ol' Red worked on the eggs. Once he had a small gathering he spoke loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, "Once your egg has been incubated, please leave the Egg Care chamber. You are allowed anywhere within campus grounds and if you have any questions please ask me as Linani over there is busy and other teachers are busy with their current classes. You can go where you like, find your dorms, explore, research in the library, and such, but do not, I repeat do NOT, enter a class that is in session. I can't guarantee that the teacher and their dragon will appreciate it."

"Cool" was all Hunter had to say as saw the flame erupt from Ol' Red. He was a bit worried about his egg but he knew they wouldn't burn the the egg bad, they should know what they are doing I mean this is a dragon school if they didn't know anything no one would. Though hearing he could have it back tomorrow Hunter was a bit sad he he gotten used to holding that egg. Though considering what had just happened to it maybe that wasn't the best idea now

He stands for a moment before he hears someone ask something he didn't catch what it was but he did hear what Linani had to say and assumed the girl was just being impatient. "Harsh" he said to himself as he looked around and walked to a random wall while the next six went over.

When he heard the headmaster he went over to him and stood with his arm's crossed. He heard all he had to say and a smile went along his face as he turned around the moment he was done talking and out the door to his slight freedom.

He looks around the halls for a moment before deciding on a direction and then bolts that way. Though remembering this was a school he settled for a speed walk at best to wherever he was going.

He ended up at the same garden he had seen the Dragon torment the student. He let out a laugh as he remembered what had happened and stopped remembering he also went deaf for some time, ya that really sucked mostly the blood part.

After a bit of wandering and some running into walls he ended up near the library. Deciding he should try to at least have some knowledge of dragons he walked into the library

Karis watched the flames with a slight tinge of worry for the eggs inside it. However, she quickly replaced that worry with facts that seemingly proved that this was the best thing for the eggs. After all, they were dragon eggs, sturdier than birds eggs, and the teachers here appeared to know what they were doing so she was sure they wouldn't poach the students' eggs for no reason.

Nevertheless, Karis felt a little odd being separated from her egg and it's stripes in hues of blue. It had been the only familiar thing on the entire campus, and now she had to leave it here. She moved over to the headmaster as he gathered those students who had already presented their eggs. Apparently now she was free to explore wherever she wanted, but where should she go first?

As other students wandered off, heading to where they wanted to go, Karis stood awkwardly near the entrance to the incubation room trying to decide. She could go and find her dorm so that she was less likely to get lost later, she could take a longer look around the garden where the Howlers had done their display.... or she could go and find the library and try researching the species that her dragon would hatch into. As she watched other students leave, Karis wondered how the decision had been so easy for all of them.

Inu scowled. She wasn't being impatient! This made her angry, and as she exited the room, she went to find her dorm so she wouldn't disturb anyone while she was muttering angrily and sketching an infuriated dragon. 'Some teacher she is.' She thought. Sheesh, the other teachers had to be nicer. Otherwise, Inu was going to absolutely hate the few years of her life she had to spend here. While she was sketching, nothing happened for a while, except for her thinking she heard a knock. She ignored it, thinking she was hearing things. Obviously her days of thinking she heard things weren't completely gone. Inu started to lull herself to sleep by putting on a classical music playlist she had on her iPod, which she had brought with her. Akua huffed next to her, fell asleep, and started snoring. 'Some day this was...' Akua thought to herself. 'First my owner gets yelled at, now she's hating on that teacher. Goody..'

((Sean just got accepted, he was there the entire time.))

Sean was quite throughout the entire tour, not wanting to interrupt the Headmaster. He had been holding onto his dragon egg, it being so tiny he could hold it in one hand. The teen had wondered about combat and flying, since his egg was so tiny. He couldn't possibly believe that it would hatch a large dragon, but it could still hatch a large enough one that he could fly on. Then a rude boy had asked where the dragons were, and had gotten his answer. Sean was in awe at the fascinating creatures that had played with the boy. He didn't feel the fear that others were probably feeling at the time, but instead he was intrigued more and more. They seemed so well trained, and he hoped he could get to that kind of level with his dragon.

When the Headmaster had spoken about the dragons, he tried to remember if any of it was in the books he read. The country boy couldn't remember anything, so he assumed this wasn't something you could find in any old library book. He held on to every word, from how a dragon chooses a keeper, and how dragons have different tastes. The farm grown boy wondered what kind of dragon would want to have a shy guy like him, and he got even more intrigued.

When they had gotten to the incubation room, he had not heard his name up first, but realized it must be done in groups at a time. Another student had asked why she hadn't heard her name. She had been scolded by the teacher, and he thought, Why are there so many rude students here? When his name was called, he gave his egg to the woman, and found out that it was a Pygmy. The bookworm knew how small a Pygmy was from his readings on dragons, realized he wouldn't be able to fly on it, and it most certainly wouldn't be able fight other dragons. He left his egg, which he knew would be in great care, and left to find the dorms.

This was just getting better and better.
With each and every single word that man spoke he revealed more and more things that could and most likely would kill them.
A dragon could easily turn on you if your personality would change drastically - well, what about the trauma of suddenly being forced to take care of a ferrocious beast, constantly being reminded of the horrible danger you were in and standing face-to-face with these towering beasts? It didn't seem to be that big a stretch to say that something like that would very well qualify as a personality-changing experience.
Before he could object to anything however, the headmaster was already dragging them towards the next station on their journey.
The room they entered once more made Dean's already overworked heart drop.
Well, it wasn't the room in itself but rather what was contained within the room.
Yet another gigantic dragon, this one firebreathing even and far too many eggs to be comfortable around. What if they were to hatch right now? There would be next to nothing any of them would be able to do to defend themselves against such a mass of welplings.
A cold sweat broke out on Dean's forehead as he just had to be one of the first students to be called forward. His mood worsened further as he noticed some of the others whose names had been announced with his. Two of them were those poor sods who had had the weakness of mind to actually try and interact with the dragons. After what happened, Dean believed for himself to be quite reasonably afraid of being the third one to suffer a similar fate.
To his relief however his dragon seemed to have a relatively normal name.
Cassare. He had no idea what such a dragon would be like, but while it was no Dwarf Dragon of Cuddles it was no Terminator Doomdeath dragon either.
He would definitely have to read up on that species once opportunity presented itself - as well as all other species of course. If worse came to worst he wanted to at least have a tiny chance of survival.
In the back of his mind the most horrible traits this dragon could possibly have kept appearing.
Maybe it breathed toxic gas or was fond of mind-controlling the rider or something of the sort.
Yes, he definitely would have to do some research, even though he was beginning to worry for even the books to try breathing fire at him.
Then however he remembered something else that old hag and the headmaster had said.
Vampire Dragon. There were vampire dragons?! And that girl next to him, the one who looked like she couldn't even control a puppy had one?! Yes, he was screwed. They were all so terribly screwed.
A sudden wave of relief washed over the student as it seemed like the red dragon was about to incinerate their eggs, allowing for them to finally return home after what had to be the worst prank in history. The relief quickly faded again as the eggs didn't seem to be damaged in the slightest, instead being placed on a shelf.
Well, at least he got rid of the egg, even if it was only for a day.
Then finally, as more and more eggs had been identified and given names ranging from "Is this a joke?" to "We are all doomed", the headmaster spoke up once more, allowing for them to leave. But of course he couldn't just do so normally, no he just had to mention yet another thing that could kill them on this island of nightmares.
Well...it wasn't as if the young man had much of a choice.
And thus he headed out, trying to find the library.
Hopefully he wouldn't run into any dragons...

The helicopters...they were the ones bringing her towards the island full of them. Full of the hideous, vile, and wild lizards known as Dragons. Kyrie clutched her legs, while the others clutched their eggs. She would rather have been curled up in a ball in a corner of the room, but peer pressure of looking stupid in front of the other students prevented her from doing so. The copter jerked, as the slowed to a landing and arrived at the academy.

   The people in her vehicle rushed out, while she had to be told to get out. She picked up her backpack, containing the egg that had merely appeared in front of her one day, and followed the group at the tail end as the man known as Mr.Shoals gave the tour. He pointed out the different wings, explained a bit on dragons, and gave the tour group a show by making an example of one impatient boy. Kyrie cringed as the howlers screeching nearly made her ears bleed, able to cover them up just in time.

   She was relieved when the boy was brought back to safety, but it seemed that the dragons would not go away completely, and instead stay to give a finale hurrah with a loud screech once more. She shied away, even farther back from the group until her back was up against a pillar, and there she stayed as the Howler rejected a girl that had asked to touch it, and the man began to explain more and more about the awful creatures.

   It was finally time to go somewhere else, but she was less than pleased to find a large red dragon simply waiting for them. Kyrie froze, causing a bit of a scene as her name was called for the identification and incubation process and refused to go any closer to the dragon. A student finally forced her forward, and she placed her egg onto the table. A Royal Blue dragon she had received, the royal blue egg was incubated and placed on a shelf with the others. She was then herded over to the Headmaster, and exited the room behind another girl that had been given something called a Calculus Drake or something like that.

   She shakily made her way to the nearest corner she could find, and leaned against it, having difficulty breathing out of fear. She sat at the corner, unnoticed by most that passed by, and tried to recollect herself. She tried to reassure herself that she would be okay, everything is fine, there had to be someway to go back home and get away from all of these monsters! She took deep breaths, trying to count to ten without bursting into tears. She wanted to go home, this was too much. There was facing your fears and there was just flat out torture, and this had blown past the torture scale quite a while ago.


   Ian watched as the final students were identified and incubated, a few students even receiving the rare pygmy. He watched them leave before following them out, leaving Linani to care for the eggs. When he exited, he spotted the usual of a mob rushing towards the library with the rare lingering student or two.

   He made his way down the hallway, heading towards his office. He had plenty of work to do, although he would not like it, he had to do something else the other teachers will get on his case.


   The Library was actually pretty lively compared to most libraries, for this particular library had the screeches and squawks of small pygmies as they fluttered about carrying books, placing them, organizing them, and occasionally carrying letters from different classes to the library to request a book. The bookcases stood as tall as the ceiling, plenty of books about the different kinds of dragons and other different subjects. There was even a few pleasure reads for the students to read in the case that they get bored or have some spare time. However it seemed that there were no ladders to reach the upper shelves. It was required to either use a pygmy or have a full grown dragon, as the books in the higher shelves were restricted access.



   The dorms were a different story, things were silent and peaceful. What dragons that were there didn't seem to be awake, and appeared to be very young, and instead were in a corner on top of a monstrously large pillow that was in fact a dragon as well. The dorms were split into two sections, one for men and one for women, and allowed a first come first serve basis with who gets what room, and every room looked to be almost identical. Each room held two beds, intending for students to share their rooms as there were too many for everyone to get their own room. There were signs everywhere requiring people to whisper, and remain silent. If one were intelligent, one would realize that this was in the case that the dragons were sleeping, or if a student was taking a nap.

Hunter walked through the library and was surprised with what he had seen and heard. All of the library's he had gone to had been quiet save for the one kid who always seemed to want to ruin that, most of the time him but that was beside the point. He looked up at the tall shells with a puzzled look, did we have to climb the self s to get the one's on the higher shelves. He then slapped himself remembering they were going to have dragons later on.

He decided to look along the bottom seeing as how that was the only place he could reach at the time. He felt the want to climb up and see what the other books were but considering there were small dragon's everywhere he'd probably end up falling and last he checked he couldn't fly.

While walking he noticed something a little odd, there was no one here human wise though he might of just not noticed the other's he was normally bad at seeing others so he looked around for the dragon's name. "Blue-Banded now where is it?" He said to himself as he walked. He didn't even notice one of the pygmies behind him it left then came back with a book then got his attention by pretty much screaming.

"Huh what the?" He says as he turned around and looked at the book and got another puzzled look. It was the one he was looking for as he grabs it. "Thanks" he said as the pygmy left him there, he decided to open the book and start reading it.

Karis remained where she was for another few moments before she finally settled on going to the library. She would just be faced with more choice if she went to the dorms and had to pick which room she wanted and who she wanted to be in a room with, and supposed that if she left it for last, she wouldn't have to choose at all. Meanwhile, she could be gaining valuable information on the species of her dragon. Karis had been about to head off towards the library when she noticed another girl in the corner, seemingly trying to keep herself calm. To be honest, the girl looked like she was holding in tears.

Reluctantly, she stepped closer to the older girl, "Uhm. Are you alright?" she asked, compassion overruling her preference for keeping to herself.

"You know, eggs are completely incapable of harming the average human." The voice came from beside her -a boy.

Despite her fears, Patience let out an involuntary snort of amusement. "H-heh... m-maybe r-regular eggs d-don't. B-but these are d-dragon eggs... P-plus, I-I'm a b-bit more worried a-about what's going t-to come out o-of the egg, p-personally," she replied quietly, stumbling over her words.

Patience was relieved to leave the room of crowded students and stifling heat. She didn't know where she was going, but she needed to be anywhere but in the presence of the egg that brought her here. She walked through the halls of the Academy castle aimlessly. They had been given a tour, yes, but she hadn't really been paying attention to where they were going, more focused on the information that the headmaster had been handing out.

She clung to the walls of the castle, not wanting to bump into anyone else traversing the hallways, and eventually found her way to the library. She stood in awe at the entrance to the library, nearly salivating at the thought of all the precious, rare books that lay before her, just waiting for her to read and devour the information inside.

She walked into the library and looked around in awe at the tiny dragons flapping around the bookcases, carrying books and organizing the shelves. It was amazing that dragons could be trained to do this kind of thing -it was rather ingenious! She did notice that the small dragons seemed to make a lot of noise, but it was background noise that she thought she could get used  to.

Before she set to work in earnest, Patience walked through the entire library once, looking at how the books were placed and what books were where, before heading to the dragon breeds section and selecting all the books that could possibly hold information on Vampire Dragons that she could carry and lugged them to a work table. She placed the books in neat stacks around her, and pulled out a pencil and notebook from the bag she carried around her waist -she always had extra pens and notebooks in case writing inspiration struck her.

Armed with the tools to acquire the information she desperately needed, Patience set to work reading the books and taking notes in the notebook. What she learned at the onset of her investigations of the Vampire Dragon were scary and slightly disgusted her. What kind of species bred by essentially killing other species' young? She shook her head. She had to reserve her judgements. Surely there was some redeeming aspect to the species.

As he reached the library, Dean was just barely able to stop himself from hitting his head against a wall in frustration. He had explicitely hoped for the library at least to be dragon-free. And what was he met with? Innumerable tiny dragons were fluttering around, screeching and screaming in a cacophony that would most likely make any focussed research impossible.
Well, he would have to be in the victinity of many, many other dragons later on anyway, so he really couldn't allow himself to be scared or distracted by something like this. He was here to look up the species his dragon had. Kascha- Cazza-...how did you even spell that?
With a sigh Dean realized that he would most likely have to try and find a book on dragon species in general first before he could deepen his research on this particular species.
Getting as many books about the subject as he could find, Dean sat down, wondering, dreading what he might read...

Karis nodded gently in response to the girl's question. Perfect. Now she was going to be known by the entire year as the girl who wanted to touch the Headmaster's dragon. Ah well, she could be known for worse things after all.
"Oh, uhm, I'm Karis," she then added quietly, figuring that it might help the slightly older girl calm her nerves if she became more familiar with someone else who was enrolled in this specialised academy. She was still carrying the blue patterned cloth that she had previously wrapped the lower half of her egg in, draping it over her arms rather than storing it anywhere like one normally would. Her violet eyes danced from Kyrie to the empty hallways of the academy as she realised that almost everyone else had already left to do their own thing.
