With The Odds Against You

Lumina, you've just been full of bright ideas lately, haven't you.

Her own thought dryly chastised her as the six-tailed fox stood outside the entrance to Serene Cave. Despite the guild badge, treasure bag and wonder map poking out of the before mentioned bag, she wasn't here on a mission. No, she had decided to give herself a small break from her guild work.

She was here for something else. To grow stronger. To satisfy her curiosity. To come where she hadn't come before, in an attempt to learn about the world around her. Or maybe she was just here to entertain herself. What could she say, she enjoyed a good challenge now and then. Most likely, it was a little bit of all these reasons combined.

Her head held high, the Vulpix stood outside the cave regally, her ears perked attentively. She stepped inside, the cool air inside replacing the warmth that the sun left on her fur, and for some reason she couldn't quite explain, this gave Lumina a chill down her spine.

Energy: 1

Her eyes slowly made out the shapes of three Pokemon in the darkness. The one in the middle, probably a Graveler, was easy enough to identify, but the two others off to the sides looked strangely similar. It was only when they were passing directly below that Lumina saw they were a Bidoof and a Bidarel. Great, a Rock-Ground type and a Water type. This matchup wasn't her luckiest.

She stayed perfectly still in the shadows, waiting to strike until Noel also did so, not wanting to loose the element of surprise. It was only when she saw he Riolu jump down at the Bidarel that she pulled a similar trick on the Bidoof, leaping on it from atop the boulder.

Energy: 16

Noel still on top of the Pokemon she had knocked out as she got into a fighting stance as she heard another clash most likely lumina knocking the other flat as Noel was still in her fighting stance.

The rock type looked to it's left to see Noel and it's right to see lumina and shaking started to run from the two opponents scared outta his mind

The Bidoof let out a fearful cry, trying to escape from the Vulpix's ambush. It looked back up at Lumina, wide-eyed, before it ran after the Graveler. "... you're right, Noel. It felt good to turn the tables." She replied with a small smirk and a faintly harsh chuckle. "Let's try to pull that off again sometime."

"Ya I'd prefer a straight up fight but this is quicker" she says as she start a to think they made a geodude run away and then a graveler ran to was a golem going to try to jump them next that would be way.to strange if that happened as Noel got the branch and pointed it at lumina "light please" she asked with a smile

Listening to her friend's request, Lumina puffed out another small Ember, lighting up the dry branch with a soft crackle coming from the flames. She had overdone it a bit, so the flames were a considerably brighter than last time. That would mean more light, but also that the branch would burn up quicker. Shrugging, she turned her attention back to the road ahead. The torch was unlikely to last them for three days straight, anyways, no matter how much they tried to preserve it. Perhaps it would be for the best just to make the most of it while they had it.

Noel moves the branch around it was a lot brighter then before but that also ment it would burn faster so they would have to make do if it came down to it she could always guide them with her sense but that might cause some mental fatigue she didn't want that made her seem like a dizzy loon as she walked forward.

As they walked, Lumina felt strangely tired. She yawned softly, half-trying to hide it, not wanting to appear weak or as if she needed a rest. She couldn't help but wonder what time it was. They couldn't see the sky from out here, after all, for all she knew it was already nightfall. It didn't feel like it was just yet, but it could've been.

Noel stretched out as she noticed the yawn though choose not to say anything about it though it was getting late or so she thought hard.to tell really it was a cave with a strange amount of candy in it as she noticed some more of the stuff and wondered who was leaving all of this here

Regaining her composure, the Vulpix kept walking forward. In the light of their torch, she just barely managed to catch a glimpse of a Zubat. It was hovering beside a Stalagmite, watching the two intruders carefully. It stood over a piece of candy and a brown gummi, it's fangs bared in a silent warning not to try and take it's treasure, hissing at Noel and Lumina with a hostile tone.

Noel just looked up and then raised her paws and backed off a little continuing into the cave they didn't have to pick up every item that was in this cave though they could easily take the bat they had to make it through the cave it was a three day trip better not waste energy on a bag

Lumina silently agreed not to waste their time, she didn't care for the gummi nor the candy anyways. She glared back at the Zubat, keeping an eye on it to make sure that it wouldn't try to attack them while their backs were turned - she looked back to Noel only once the echoes of it's rapid wing beats had faded in the darkness behind them. "Good call. That wasn't worth it." She added, feeling sure that they had made the correct choice.

"Ya better to keep going if we are gonna get good time through the cave" Noel says as she holds the torch up it felt like the time was running out so they most likely shouldn't keep stopping to beat up some random Pokemon though she wasn't really complaining she liked to fight.

Feeling a bit drowsy, the Vulpix's appearance had subtly started to reflect this. She dragged her paws as she walked, her ears were no longer perked, and she was fighting to keep her head up. Whether or not it was night yet, the natural desire to sleep was a powerful one, and the orange vixen once more yawned. It was getting harder to hide her sleepiness from Noel. If only she had that one ability, Worry Seed, then she could stay up all night long without issue. ... On the other hand, staying up for that long couldn't have been healthy, either.

Noel was used to going a few days without rest but even she was starting to get a little drowsy as she yawned once and looked at lumina she looked like she was ready to drop and Noel smiles and stops walking "Maybe we should rest get our strength back" she says as she looks around.

She notices a cave that lead nowhere and a large rock sitting next to it as Noel went to investigate she took note that it could be moved as Noel turns to lumina "we could rest in here I can use the rock as a door" she says as she quickly adds "I'm a light sleeper so if any feral Pokemon show up through the walls I'll probably wake up"

"... Sounds good." The Vulpix replied sleepily, her drowsiness slightly delaying her response time. She curled up by the side of the room, once more letting out a large yawn. "Be sure to put that torch out. We might as well save it for the morning." She suggested before burying her face in her tails, deciding to try and fall asleep. She could definitely use the rest if she wanted to be at the top of her game tomorrow.
