Simple and clean

First topic message reminder :

"Alright Chie, today we are doing a simple mission, nothing fancy just finding items, but" Sorren said, grabbing his journal out of his bag "I'm going to start recording items and pokemon we encounter in this book. dungeons are sometimes weird in wich they spawn the same items. it's a good idea to have a list of what we know is where."

His explination finished sorren packed away his book for later use. Finding a couple of blast seeds would be easy and they could spend some time documenting pecha forest, maybe put up the list for rokie teams and the general public.

In any event This was going to be very productive. Simple and clean. Sorren was pleased with how the day was going. The leaves of the woods rustled in the wind and autumn was in the air. time to get to work.

Chie however had been far too absorbed in her theories about the Mystery Dungeons to come even close to noticing something as subtle as a change in the Combusken's stance. Ony when the group had suddenly stopped moving forward did she come to realize what kind of situation they had ended up in. Hopefully this would be one of the rare clearings on which battle was not imminent. The bookish Pokémon would much rather prefer to simply finish their mission without any fighting.
But - knowing their usual luck with situations like these - something of this nature was not very likely to be the case.

William meanwhile hadn't been paying much attention to Sorren either, but the long time he had had to survive in the forest combined with the experience as an explorer he had collected had taught him to be wary of his surroundings. Thus it was not surprising for him to notice for the area they were getting into to be quite likely to end up being the site of combat. Just what was it with feral Pokémon and ominous clearings like these? Attacking by surprise from the trees would be much more effective in the Gengar's mind. But he wasn't going to complain about something giving them an advantage of sorts of course.

An exeggcute, aipom, and murkrow came out of hiding and started advancing on the three explorers.

"One for each of us. I'll handle the aipom, chie, you handle the exeggcute, William you're strong enough to overcome the type disadvantage with the murkrow." Sorren said. "This should be easy"
Sorren ran toward the monkey pokemon, jump kicking it and hitting it with a double kick on the way down. The aipom retailiated with a swift that Sorren couldn't dodge, and stunned him for a second. He snapped out of it just in time to avoid a tackle. With the charging aipom's back turned another simple double kick did it in.

And now there was the unpleasant part of exploring. Since Sorren was incapable of flight or moving through matter, he could not flee from the foes as easily as Chie and William would have been able to, so there was no real choice for the trio but to stay and fight the opponents.
At least the Exeggcute would be weak to the Duskull's attacks, but still she worried for the Gengar who had to go up against a type disadvantage. Hopefully he would be able to handle it.
But the Ghost type had no time to think about something like that - there was battle to be done.
Charging towards the Exeggcute, she pretended to attempt an attack, before disappearing right before the attack would connect, instead reappearing behind the Psychic type, attempting to use Faint Attack to hit it.

William meanwhile simply rolled his eyes. Of course he had to be the one who would have to face the Pokémon with the type advantage. Wouldn't it be smarter to focus on one target for the time being and then take out one enemy after another? But as much as he disagreed with the Combusken's planning, the Fire type was the leader in this situation and William had no intention of causing a mutiny of sorts. And thus he engaged the Flying type in combat.
As his Shadow Ball would simply be resisted, William decided to use his Focus Blast attack instead. While less accurate than the Shadow Ball and while the Gengar was less familiar with this attack, it should deal normal damage, were it to hit at least.

"Alright we Should be done here. I'm about ready to head back. We have enough seeds and The day has draged on." Sorren said as soon as he knew that his comrades had dispatched the weak pokemon.

Sorren wanted to go home and turn in his day's work. his notebook was full of things found in the Forrest and Bag filled with goodies. He made a note to read up on strategies as William seemed on different wavelenght from him and he was Sorren's better.

"Thanks for tagging along William, It means a lot."

Seeing the battle being wrapped up, Chie finally managed to breathe a sigh of relief.
She hadn't really done much battling before, so she usually was rather nervous when she actually had to fight. But she'd have to get used to it what with her now being a member of a rescue team and all that. She shouldn't disappoint her leader after all. And neither should she disappoint William of course.
It was a weird feeling, having finished what pretty much was her first mission. Did she like it? The Duskull didn't know to be honest. But with a bit more experience she would hopefully soon be able to decide whether this actually was a life she was comfortable with.


As the last Pokémon were defeated, William returned to the ground again, responding:
"It's nothing, really. I was in the area and it wasn't as if I had anything better to do."
It was not nothing however. After years of solitude and being the scapegoat for just about everything, actually recieving thanks and praise for the things he did was a very invigorating feeling for the Poison type. And of course being able to spend time with Chie was making the entire expedition more than worth it. Having seen both the Duskull and the Combusken in action however, the Gengar was not entirely sure whether they both would be able to work together well enough just yet. Oh well, only time would show...

Sorren didn't say a word. He was done talking. It had felt like the day dragged on forever, when in fact It had only been a couple of hours at most. He could've thought about how he and chie weren't in sync or how he wasn't that good a leader, but all he could think about was a nap back home.

With that in mind he moved forward.

Not really knowing what else she was supposed to do or say, the Duskull decided tro simply silently follow her leader to whereever it was he was wandering to.
Hopefully the Combusken did remember the way out of this forest, considering that they had been wandering around for quite a while already. But if neccessary, William and her could always simply levitate above the trees and look for Grassveil Town from there. The Duskull didn't like doing so however, considering the low temperatures higher up in the atmosphere.
At least they managed to complete their mission. After this Chie'd go read a good book and relax. Floating around for so long certainly was getting exhausting.


So Sorren was not responding. William took that as a hint to him wanting to return and turn in the mission now. And William didn't have anything to object to that. After all he had been hanging around here for long enough himself. It was time to return to the guild before his team members would start worrying about him.
It was strange. Even though they had only spent about an afternoon in this forest, it felt to the Gengar as if a very, very long time had actually passed. Why was that?

The party moved on in silence. Only the sounds of the forest could be heard. Sorren didn't think much of it, too exhausted to have any other thought than to get home. He dragged his feet forward along the path, as he let his mind drift and body move almost automatically.
