Simple and clean

"Alright Chie, today we are doing a simple mission, nothing fancy just finding items, but" Sorren said, grabbing his journal out of his bag "I'm going to start recording items and pokemon we encounter in this book. dungeons are sometimes weird in wich they spawn the same items. it's a good idea to have a list of what we know is where."

His explination finished sorren packed away his book for later use. Finding a couple of blast seeds would be easy and they could spend some time documenting pecha forest, maybe put up the list for rokie teams and the general public.

In any event This was going to be very productive. Simple and clean. Sorren was pleased with how the day was going. The leaves of the woods rustled in the wind and autumn was in the air. time to get to work.

Hearing her team leader's command, Chie decided to keep shooting her Night Shade at their enemies randomly. Hopefully Sorren knew what he was doing as it appeared to be the more sensible choice to simply focus on one enemy at a time to the Duskull. But it seemed as if the Fire type and William had developed some sort of plan and the Ghost type didn't want to mess it up by not being able to follow instructions - quite simple instructions at that.
Then again these instructions weren't that simple. She still had to take care not to hit either of her partners by accident. And to be honest - constantly having to use the same attack due to lack of other ranged attacks was rather tiring...


What was the Combusken thinking? How was Confuse Ray supposed to help in a situation like this one? Confuse Ray was an attack that could be used efficiently against few, strong enemies. Not a huge group of weaker foes that could be defeated with a single attack each. But if he had a plan, then they could try it out and if he didn't, then he would at least get to see why it would not work.
And so it came that William once again charged his most twisted thoughts into a sphere of confusion, launching it at their foes.

Sorren had not meant for William to use Confuse ray on all of the pokemon, let alone know that he could do so. But the effect it had changed the battle.

Even though some pokemon weren't hit, the ones that were confused started hitting each other, drawing attention away from Sorren, Chie, and William. the pokemon were weak and stupid, so it turned out that this miscomunication had done wonders.

"Uh, ok, did not know you could hit so many at once. but now that it's done It should be child's play to beat them. Chie! come with me, we are going to focus on one at a time now and clean up this mess." Sorren said, relaying orders.

He then started wailing on the sudowoodo, who was punching itself. William could take out these guys in one hit, it would take both sorren and chie to achieve that, but cleanup wouldn't be much of an issue, then they could get to dividing up the items.

A strange flash of light filled the area as William's Confuse Rays landed somewhere in the middle of their foes. Chie forced herself to look away to keep her ghastly mind from melting into slag, seeing a group of thoroughtly confused Pokémon as she reverted her gaze back onto the combattants.
This attack had certainly made their battle quite a bit easier even though Chie believed for this to be a bit of overdoing it.
Soon however all their foes had either fled or were lying on the floor unconscious. It had been quite the battle, but the trio had ended up victorious. So...what was going to happen now?
It was still quite the surprising event to even have met William here after all.


This was unneccessary. They could have easily defeated their foes just by keeping on attacking. But since their foes had fallen while they did not there wasn't much William had to complain about. He wondered why Sorren had believed for it to be neccessary to use this attack and generally seemed to have this little faith in him and his abilities. But since he believed for it to be impolite to ask he'd simply wait and see how things'd develop.

"Ok, now that that's over with, I should clear some things up. William, I had kicked a Tangala towards you, I had burned it, So I figured I wouldn't bother finishing it off when it could just run around until it fainted." Sorren said, trying to clear things up. "I wanted to ask you something as well, Do you think this forest can remain safe? Do you expect there to be many more hordes of pokemon? I'm honestly out of my depth here."

Sorren had realized his plans kinda sucked, but when he had heard william just planned to keep hitting things until they stopped hitting him it was a little bit unnerving. Sorren had expected That the Gengar would know what to do in these situations.

Truth is, Sorren had gotten scared, he was vastly outnumbered and victory seemed like something he would have to desperately work for. He had underestimated William. However If he and chie were alone with that horde, then they would have to work hard for victory.

Sorren seemed to be talking with William about important matters, so Chie felt it wouldn't be polite to disturb them now. So even though she would have loved to talk to William she held herself back, allowing for the two other Pokémon to continue their discussion.
Chie personally was supportive of talks like these as solutions for problems needed to be talked about, but she'd rather have preferred for them to be held further away from places they had just been attacked in five minutes ago. However she trusted the judgement of her friends enough not to object to such a choice.


Now this was an unexpected question. Would this forest remain safe?
"Well, that would depend on a few factors. We'd have to know whether this was a one-time occurrence or an ongoing development. And if it is the latter, whether it can be reversed and how. In general though I think the Forest can remain safe. It would take much more work though, so the Grassveil Guild would have to send all their experienced explorers to keep the forest safe while the weaker ones would have to train in the guild until they would be ready to keep the forest safe as well. It would obviously reduce the amount of work the guild would be capable of doing significantly, but I think even if this development is an ongoing one that the forest can be kept safe. Relatively that is."

"Yeah, there's nothing to say that a doungeon geting a monster house once or twice is out of the question. they are called mystery doungeons for a reason. I'm going to go scout somemore, Chie? oh" Sorren said, not noticing chie wasn't close by. "Chie come here. I'm going to do some more scouting while we finish our mission, then I'm probobly going to stay longer to make sure. You are more than welcome to join us, I mean if we run into another one of those your help would make it a breeze. I guess all that's left to do here is pick up all this stuff."

Sorren had explained his plans to William, but he still wasn't sure about how the gengar thought. Maybe sorren was being overly cautious, but he wanted to do the right thing. For once he was strong enough to protoct what he loved, and that was more important to him than anything.

Sorren more or less picked a side of the clearing to pick up junk, there was more stuff on william's side, but he did more work so it was fair.

Even though she wasn't that close, Chie didn't have much trouble understanding Sorren. Her shyness had often led her to try and listen to others' conversations from afar, so she had had quite the opportunity to practice eavesdropping.
And thus she immediately floated back to the duo, having done so without the command by her leader even as she was quite enthusiastic to meet William again.


The other Ghost type meanwhile didn't have any objections to joining the duo. It wasn't as if he had anything better to do and spending time with Chie was something he certainly didn't mind either.
"Sure, I'll join you. Where exactly had you been traveling to?"
It had been a while since Team Yozora had been on a mission, so helping Team Titans out with one was a welcome distraction from life at the guild.

"Well we happen to be looking for some items for a client, so it doesn't really matter where we go, in fact it would be better if we found another monster house, so that's the plan. Today we scout The forest for potential monster houses and pick up some items along the way. oh that reminds me" Sorren said, digging out his journal. "I have to document all the pokemon and items we found."

Sorren opened the jounal and started writing down the pokemon and items they had encountered so far. He had wondered it Williams team had thought to do the same thing, sorren doubted william would have thought of it on his own.

It was nice to have William along, if nothing else than his confuse ray and hypnosis. However he was one of the most powerful pokemon Sorren knew about, after Faye of course. It kind of irked sorren that even though they were both in their earliest evolutions when they met that William had managed to grow so much more than sorren.

Sorren would just have try and figure out his own path. he was lucky enough to have a partner to look after him now.

"Uhm, excuse me, but why would that be better?", Chie interrupted.
"Blast Seeds aren't all that uncommon and we should be able to effortlessly find them outside of Monster Houses as well, while getting ourselves into much less danger."
Chie definitely was no fan of fighting and thus would much rather prefer to simply scout for the items while avoiding all battles.


"I have to say - Chie is right. Monster Houses tend to contain rarer items, which Blast Seeds most definitely are not. And with battling there always is the chance of failure."
It was interesting. Maybe this was a difference between types. The Fire and Fighting type, which Sorren was seemed to be quite hotheaded and confrontation-oriented while Ghost types tended to be highly mobile and not very noticeable, making them much better scouts than fighters.

"says the guy whose plan was to hit the things until they stop hitting him." Sorren said, slightly annoyed. "But I do see your point. Still, this should be investigated. I guess It could wait until after the mission. Do you guys have any suggestions?"

Sorren was reluctant to agree that they couldn't do both the mission and search for monster houses at the same time. If william wouldn't come with them to scout after the mission than sorren would probably scout the forest by himself. He had lived in doungeons for five or six years of his life, so he could avoid pokemon if he found a monster house.

"Suggestions for what?", Chie wondered out aloud.
"We are in the middle of the forest and every direction looks quite the same here. And I'm not sure whether there would be any specific places for Blast Seeds to appear.They're probably just distributed relatively evenly through the place."


"Just because I didn't plan on using much strategy for the battle we just emerged from doesn't mean that I don't realize the threat feral Pokémon can pose. I just believed that the ressources spent to formulate a strategy would have been better spent in the form of an attack instead. Sometimes one can spend too much time with strategy and lose sight of the battle itself."

"Fair point, Let's just forget about the whole plan thing. I guess we just continue on doing what we were doing. You are free to do what you want William, but I've talked enough about this."

Sorren was agitated. He had made mistakes, underestimated and overestimated and generally made the whole situation into a confusing mess. Sorren would have to get some more experience as a leader. As it stands he was kind of a poor one.

Sighing, Sorren picked a random direction and started walking. Simple. just find some blast seeds. Sorren focused on not complicating the issue for now.

"Uh, what's up with him?", Chie asked William, confused about the way Sorren was behaving.
"I didn't do anything wrong, did I?"
The Duskull had just asked one simple question. Had she offended the Combusken somehow?
Hopefully not - there were few Pokémon Chie cared about as much as Sorren. In fact there were few Pokémon Chie cared about at all.


"Don't worry, it's not your fault. He's just upset about not having had that thought himself I think.", the Poison type replied, hoping to calm down his girlfriend.
"Sometimes Pokémon just have a bad day, but I'm sure he's not angry at you."
William knew all-too-well how easy it was to blame oneself for something that most definitely wasn't one's own fault, so he hoped to be able to use this experience to help Chie realize that she wasn't to blame.

Sorren sighed. He was not having a good day. He had made many mistakes today, and He felt bad that he wasn't being smart enough to really be the leader of his team. He was angry. He had tried his best but he did nothing but mess things up and look like a fool.

Trying to distract himself from his feelings sorren started looking for the seeds he had been sent here to collect.

CHie still couldn't help but feel like this was somehow her fault.
After all the Combusken hadn't done anything wrong. So maybe he was trying to make her feel better while still being upset about whatever mistake it was she made?
Well, there wasn't anything she would be getting out of those two for the time being, so it probably would be the best idea to simply go and keep searching for those Blast Seeds they had come here for in the first place.


William had known Chie for long enough to understand that she wouldn't be convinced, no matter what he would tell her. So he decided to simply leave it be for now. Maybe Sorren's mood would brighten once they would have found those seeds they were looking for. And if that were to happen, then it could be expected for Chie's mood to brighten as well.
Hopefully the Combusken would finally be able to realize that making mistakes and having them fixed was part of what a team was all about.
