Nightmare Night and the Candy Hunt - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Nightmare Night and the Candy Hunt   Nightmare Night and the Candy Hunt - Page 2 EmptyFri Oct 03, 2014 7:19 pm

First topic message reminder :

It was a hot day in the Scorchfall Desert and - okay, any and all days in the Scorchfall Desert were hot days. The point is - once more that reckless Eevee had felt the need to go on a treasure hunt in a place far too dangerous for any sane Pokémon that didn't have a few years of experience under their belt. Or decades. Or centuries. But obviously the Normal type wasn't going to be stopped by any rational arguments and logical reasoning, so to prevent a brutal maiming of the aforementioned Eevee William the Gengar had once more found himself roped into an expedition he would much rather have had no part in. And with every journey they traveled together, the Eevee would probably rely more and more on the beleaguered Poison type, always going to ask him when wishing to travel somewhere.
What had William gotten himself into there?

PostSubject: Re: Nightmare Night and the Candy Hunt   Nightmare Night and the Candy Hunt - Page 2 EmptySat Oct 04, 2014 9:47 pm

The Gengar was well hidden, planning on slowly whittling down the Steelix's health from below the ground before it could notice where the attacks originated from. But then all of a sudden the ground around him collapsed, leaving the Ghost type out in the open again, the cloaked being from earlier landing next to him. What had happened? William certainly didn't know.
But what he did know was that the Steelix had been attacking them while the other Pokémon hadn't. Not yet at least. And since the Gengar knew what they say, which is "The more, the merrier", he decided to try and help the unknown Pokémon out for now. Trying to lift it up and levitate out of the hole, he hoped to prove their good intentions to the character.

Akuroma blinked as the Gengar began to lift him up out of the hole and back above ground with an angry Steelix and Diglett. "Um, thanks," he said as he hopped out of the ghost type's grip and onto the ground. As he stepped onto the ground, one of his feet hit the Diglett who had made the hole, causing him to look down and smirk. "Hey there little guy, I suppose you're the one who made me fall down that hole," he said has his arm began to glow green again. With a swing of his arm, the sand around him and the Diglett erupted from the first of the Psyshock hitting the ground type at such a close range.

Sova couldn't help but take his eyes off the steelix for a moment to focus on the explosion the mystery pokemon had just caused. He had noticed the diglett, but wasn't sure if it was an enemy or just happened to be burrowing around the area. Either way, the attack on it was definitely overkill especially since it wasn't even attacking back. This worried the eevee. What if they were helping the wrong side in this fight? Or maybe there wasn't a right side.

Too bad they'd already picked a side and definitely couldn't switch at this point. He just shrugged it off the best he could and went back to pelting the steelix with Swift from a distance. It was doing very little, but surely he was doing SOMETHING. Eventually it would have to add up. It was all he could do that would be remotely helpful anyways, with all of the other pokemon in the fight definitely outshining him.

Apparently the other Pokémon knew how to do battle. Good. That meant more firepower for William's and Sova's side and less firepower for the opponents. Still, the Steelix was a formidable fighter and would not go down easily. And so the Gengar decided on a less direct strategy. Focussing the most twisted thoughts his mind could create into a single sphere, the Gengar then launched this Confuse Ray at the Steel type. The Gengar actually had no idea why the attack was called Confuse Ray when it obviously was more of a blast. Maybe that was part of the confusion? In any case the Steelix should be defeated rather soon, now that three Pokémon were combining their powers to defeat this opponent.

As Akuroma stepped away from the unconscious Diglett, he spied a few items lying uncovered thanks to his Psyshock. Picking them up, he quickly found a use for one as a Krokorok joined the battle, snapping at him with a Crunch attack. Akuroma jumped back, throwing a stun seed at the Krokorok as it opened up its maw for another Crunch attack. As the jaws snapped shut, the Krokorok began to shake, the stun seed going into effect and paralyzing its body. Akuroma smirked, walking past the Krokorok, dusting off the sand from the Sitrus berry he picked up before taking a bite from it as he approached the now confused Steelix.

Finally, something Sova could phase with his attacks, a krokorok. Nowhere near as resilient as a steelix and not resistant to Normal type. Upon noticing it, Sova immediately shifted his attention to it. He probably couldn't do much to help fight the steelix, but at least he could make sure that when the krokorok recovered from its paralysis, it wouldn't be a problem. Besides, he wanted to do something impressive to keep up with the others.

Since the enemy was paralyzed, he could attack without focusing on having his guard up. He sped into a Quick Attack towards the paralyzed enemy, hitting it in the leg to knock it off balance first. Then, still keeping up the Quick Attack, he turned and leaped at the enemy, hitting it in the side as he rushed past. He repeated the jumping attacks 3 more times, only hitting it in the sides to avoid knocking it over immediately.

The next jump was aimed at its arm. He jumped from in front of it, still propelled by his speed boost, and bit onto the krokorok's arm, dragging it back before he released. Before it could hit the ground he dashed for it again, this time hitting it right in the back and knocking it forward onto the ground. He was aching from the force he'd put into his own attacks and exhausted, so the enemy certainly wouldn't be getting up.

Hopefully the other two could take on the steelix, as he had completely exhausted himself with his rapid succession Quick Attacks. Not that he could do anything useful fighting the steelix anyways. But maybe he should have conserved his energy instead of trying so hard to look impressive against a stunned enemy.... Nah.

While the other two Pokémon seemed to be fighting another opponent that had joined the battle, the Gengar kept his focus on the Steelix, which he believed to be the biggest menace.
Luckily Ghost was one of the few types the Steel type did not resist, so he would most likely have an easier time fighting it than the others would.
Since his cover had been blown by the cave-in of the hole, William now instead rose up into the air, flying in circles around the snake of steel, launching Shadow Balls at it from every angle.
The Ground type would not fall easily, but the constant assault should weaken it significantly. Maybe it would just leave if it were to recieve enough damage.

Since the Eevee decided not to give him any time to attack the Krokorok, Akuroma decided to leave it to its barrage of Quick Attacks, turning his attention to the Steelix who was not pleased with the barrage of Shadow Balls it was taking. With a roar, the Steelix's tail began to shine as it swiped at the Gengar, trying to slam it's Iron Tail into it. Akuroma teleported up in the air beside the Gengar, bringing his arms up as a green shield appeared in front of him, the Iron Tail slamming into the Protect.

Sova approached the Krokorok and tapped it with a paw to ensure it was knocked out, and it was. He actually didn't expect to be able to knock it out that easily. But now that he had, there wasn't really anything else useful he could do in the fight. He definitely wouldn't be doing much damage to the steelix, in fact he'd probably only get in the way if he tried to use anything but Swift. So he began glowing and summoned the familiar lights around him, sending them at the steelix. Of course, his attack didn't do much, but it was better than nothing.

The Gengar had already braced for the impact of the Iron Tail as suddenly a strange barrier in front of him stopped the attack completely. After a short time of just floating around and surprisedly trying to regain his composure, the Gengar then dove right under that barrier, charging at the Steelix with his right fist glowing with an eery, purplish hue in preparation of a Payback attack.
While he wasn't particularly concerned about his safety or that of the other Pokémon as both of them obviously knew how to do battle, the Poison type still was worried about Sova, who could be the recipient of serious harm caused by the Ground type's attacks. Hopefully he would be able to evade all the Steelix could throw at him as broken bones were not fun things to heal.

As the Gengar began to use Payback on the Steelix, Akuroma swung his arm back before throwing it forward, a wave of psychic energy flying towards the Steelix's face. As he continued his attack, the ground began to shake violently, another Diglett using Earthquake as it saw it's downed brethren. Akuroma could barely keep himself standing as the Diglett made the sand turn to what could be described as a hot, golden liquid. Akuroma, quickly began to respond with a barrage of Psyshocks, the waves of psychic energy cutting through the sand towards the Diglett.

Continuing his assault of mildly damaging Swift, Sova backed up a bit as he began to worry about getting hit by something, maybe debris from the fight. He was stopped by one of his back paws bumping into a rock in the ground. He thought nothing of it and figured he was already far enough away anyways.

Then he heard movement from behind him, like something lifting out of the sand. He quickly turned to see an annoyed carbink looking at him. He bumped into a carbink, not a rock, great. But since it didn't seem to be attacking, he figured maybe he could just apologize instead of having to fight. "Oops....Sorry, I didn't see you. I was a little distracted....My mistake." There was a silence for a moment as it continued to glare at him, which prompted him to prepare for a fight. But, to his relief, the carbink simply growled and began hopping away. Sova sighed in relief and turned back around to see how the fight was going.

Charging at the Steelix, the Gengar managed to land his Payback attack on the Steel type's cheek.
However then the Diglett began doing something, causing the ground to quiver and shake.
While the Gengar's Levitate ability kept him away from the dangerous terrain, the Earthquake was causing for large amounts of sand to be thrown into the air, obscuring the Poison type's vision.
And of course the other two Pokémon would not have this easy a time to evade this powerful attack.
Something had to be done. Closing his eyes the Gengar swooped down close to the ground, blindly feeling around trying to grab one of his partners and lift them off of the ground. Maybe he could get at least one of them out of harm's way.

Another explosion of sand erupted from where the Diglett was, the earthquake dying down after the small Pokémon was hit by one of Psyshocks. The Psyshock heading towards the Steelix also landed a hit, though the massive Pokémon seemed to only become more enraged by the attacks until the Diglett used Earthquake, the supereffective move dealing enough damage for the behemoth to topple over.

Akuroma panted, half buried in the sand from the earthquake when he noticed a trio of ground Pokémon running by. "Hehe! We'll get to the temple and find the treasure for sure!" one of the Pokémon said as they disappeared over a dune.

"Treasure? I thought the temple in this desert had already been raided by bandits and explorers alike years ago," Akuroma said as he crawled himself out of the sand. He did wish to study the temple, perhaps these two Pokémon, though the little he knew about them, would be enticed by the tale of treasure to accompany him there.

Sova's positioning paid off as he was barely effected by the earthquake. He was caught in the sand kicked up, but that was about all. He decided to back away even further, just in case, paying more attention to the steelix's general direction than behind himself. Luckily, he heard the sound of something moving in the sand and turned around just in time to see a tall rock falling towards him, darting out of the way of it just in time.

The earthquake finally subsided, allowing the eevee to relax for a moment. He liked having time to rest, but on dangerous explorations there was rarely time for that and given he was just an eevee, he had to watch his back rather than take time to take breaks constantly. Maybe when he evolved he could worry less about dangers....
