Roseli Academy: A prestigious Pokemon Academy. Here, trainers mainly from rich Kalos backgrounds are taught to be the very best, like no one ever was. It is located on one of the points if Kalos, specifically the Southwestern most one. Here is where many young trainers get their start to do great things in the future of their Pokemon careers.
This year, however, was different because of 5 students. They were the known as the Regional Representatives. Each budding trainer was from a different region and none of them had rich backgrounds. Instead, they were all full of potential and ended up having all of their expenses paid by the school to attend this famous boarding school, including covering the cost for their supplies, uniforms, and books. Since they came from outside of Kalos, a small yet fancy ship had picked them up instead of the usual train that brought students native to the region to Roseli Academy.
They had been picked up in the order of first Kanto, then Johto, Hoenn, Orre, Sinnoh and finally Unova. The cruise had picked up the Kanto representative 3 days ago and the Unova representative only yesterday. Now their journey was coming to its end. The ship's intercom had announced they'd dock at the Academy in under an hour and that everyone should get their uniforms on and pack their things. They were to meet up on the deck in a few minutes to get a quick briefing.
- - - - -
Cassidy "Cass" Green was surprised to hear the announcement that the ship had almost reached its destination, yet relieved at the same time. Being the Johto representative, she had been one of the first picked up, and thus one of the future students who had been on this darned ship for the longest. It had been a boring ride, spent tinkering with some of the technology supplied by the school and reading the textbooks. Cass wasn't really social with the other students who she would end up spending a lot of time with. She had been able to pick up their names but only striked up a conversation with them once or twice.
Cassidy's room in the ship was about the size of a normal bedroom. It wasn't anything really special, but it was comfortable. In the corner was a closet, and the slender black-haired girl began looking through it, pulling out suitcases, bags, and supplies she had taken out, along with her uniform.
Cass quickly undressed from the t-shirt and shorts she had slept in ( it was only around 9 AM ) and changed into her beige uniform. She studied herself in a tall mirror as she fixed her hair into two short twin-tails. Her uniform wasn't the best thing, but it was usable and would work. She didn't like the plaid brown skirt, though she didn't like skirts in general. She figured all the rich kids were used to wearing them, or at least the fashionable ones. She was neither. Skirts made her feel uncomfortable and exposed. She had watched enough anime to be wary of panty shots.
To remedy this, Cass found a pair of shorts that were shorter than her skirt and slip them on under her uniform skirt. There, much better, she thought to herself. Once that was settled, Cassidy began to finish repacking her supplies.

| (*stops being a lazy butt*) August blinked at the buttons as she looked through the list. There was a strange brown bipedal pokemon with large legs, tiny arms, and a massive head matched with a massive set of jaws. It looked rather cute to her, there was another pokemon near it that had the same dinosaur like appearance except was a light blue and seemed to be "cuter" in a normal girl's standards. However, August picked the large headed and tiny armed pokemon. She knew practically nothing about it, but something just drove her to pick it, not to mention it looked cute to get. The pokemon was the rock and dragon type Royal Heir Pokémon, Tyrunt.
She looked around the list a bit more and noticed a canine like pokemon with wild and somewhat messy fur. It had a fluffy tail and the pokemon seemed like the type her mother would choose just to fix up its fur. August rather liked the pokemon how it appeared though, its plain white fluffy fur and its dark face and paws that must have been shorter and more ungroomable fur. The young girl chose the pokemon, knowing nothing about this one as well, but liking the way it looked. It even looked strong like the other pokemon she had chosen! The pokemon was the normal type Poodle Pokémon, Furfrou.
Her eyes traveled farther up the list, and stopped when she spotted a rather adorable looking goat like pokemon. She blinked, it was one of the pokemon that nobody would probably ever chose because of its weak looking appearance. It also seemed to be a rather happy looking pokemon though, almost playful. Two horns sprouted from its head and a leafy fur covered its body, she found herself choosing that one as well. It seemed like something her mother would never pick and call it to be a, "barn animal" like miltank. It also reminded her of her now flourishing region that was once a wasteland! The pokemon was the grass type Mount Pokémon, Skiddo.
August remained silent, giving a nod of thanks to the woman, wondering why she had not been addressed about her uniform yet, but decided to let it go since it WAS to her favor. Heck, maybe the school was not as strict as she thought! | |

| Liam scratched the back of his head, ruffling up his already messy hair. No one had seemed to notice him being late. That was something to be thankful for, he supposed. He took sometime to survey each of the others. He had seen them all in his wanderings around the ship. He couldn't really remember if he had spent time talking with them.
They were all girls. Liam couldn't decide if that was a good or a bad thing. On one hand he was surrounded by girls. On the other hand, he was surrounded by girls. It didn't take a lot of imagination to see how troublesome that had the potential to be. Just thinking about it made him want to groan.
"Man, what a drag... " he whispered under his breath.
Soon, each of the girls was lining up to pick their Pokemon as the old Headmaster had said. He sat back and sighed a bit. He hated lines. He decided to stay back and watch what everyone else chose before making his decision.
The first girl up was the one with a weird name. He could never remember it. Jenette? Alica? Something. He never had been good with names. He remembered the girl, though, because she had especially gotten on his nerves. She was perky, peppy, and couldn't stay still. She had been nosing around the ship almost the entire trip and the constant sound of her poking about had bothered him multiple times, whether he was trying to sleep, relax, meditate, practice chess, or whatever. He peered over her shoulder at the tablet as she made her choices.
A Noibat, a Sneasel, and a Skorupi. Not bad choices. The team was decently rounded and had some potential. Liam got the feeling she was a little uncertain though, as he caught some hesitation on her part. In his mind, he cataloged this away for later.
Next to step up was the quiet girl. Lillith, wasn't it? The girl hadn't spoken nearly a word the entire trip. Not necessarily a bad trait. She hadn't gotten in his way and in return, he wouldn't get in her's. Also, she seemed to have a thing for plants. Liam had seen her moving some cases in when she arrived on the ship. If he ever needed to start up conversation, he felt that would be a good ice breaker.
The shy girl picked out a Poochyenna, a Murkrow, and Phantump. Liam wasn't surprised, given the girl's temperament, but the starters were solid enough.
Next up to bat was yet another odd-ball name. Liam was fairly certain it was Calypso. Something like that. She seemed rather unremarkable, save her obvious lack of constitution. It seemed she had done nothing but throw up the entire trip. Add to that the fact that she had just been going at her nails like they were a snack plate. Nerves of steel, that one.
Nervous Nelly's picks were odd. Of her selection, all were fairly recently discovered. An Espurr, a Fetchling, and an Amaura. Was she just picking at random? There certainly didn't seem to be any rhyme to her reason besides her own fancy. Odd.
Next, the Rebel August. She was going to be interesting to have around. Day one and she was already pushing the rules by wearing male pants. She must have had some sort of butch streak. That, or she just didn't like being told what to do. Liam could appreciate that, but if she didn't know how to get away with being like that she could turn out to be a major bother. He hoped not.
For her was a Tyrunt which would need to be watched, as it's evolution was going to be tricky to handle. She also took a Furfrou and a Skiddo. Once again, the choices seemed odd to him, but he wasn't going to argue.
Deciding he had seen enough, Liam stepped up to the tablet after August had left. With his hands in his pockets, he sighed at the screen. Picking things like these was always so annoying. His hand hovered over the screen a moment and then he took his time finding the Pokemon he wanted. The first he found was little Axew. It had a fantastic final evolution that was good for any sort of long game plays.
Next, he selected a Riolu. Frankly, he had been a little surprised that the school had offered it as one of the choices. It was a very rare Pokemon, and he had only seen the species once or twice, despite it's natural habitat being in his homeland of Unova. He was now beginning to appreciate the amount of money and influence this Academy had. In any event, the Riolu would make a good companion, an excellent sparring partner, and a good heavy hitter for the team.
Finally, he selected an Eevee. Liam had a soft spot for the furry Pokemon, not necessarily because it was cute, but because it represented such a huge amount of potential. The species as a whole had an irregular genetic structure that allowed it's evolutions to be very adaptable. It was a wonderful asset to the team as Liam could use it to better fit the situation down the road, after things had played out a little more.
Satisfied with his picks, Liam yawned and pressed the accept button. Before leaving, he looked up at the old woman and said, "So uh... Thanks..." With that, he yawned again and went to the back. He took his place leaning against a wall with his arms crossed. Looking on the horizon, he could see the shore getting closer and closer.
He definitely wouldn't be getting to go back to his cabin for a nap.
"Man, what a pain..." | |

| Cassidy watched everyone pick their Pokemon, though she didn't think too much into it. She noticed how some people had taken longer than others, and how some had hesitated, even if only slightly. She wasn't nervous, or at least she tried not to seem that way. She was better than that; Cass was tempted to pick blindly and randomly, just to probe she was the best one out of them all. She wan't to prove that she didn't care what she got, but deep inside Cassidy knew that that wouldn't work. For all she knew, she'd end up with a team of Magikarp!
Thinking about choices took longer than she thought. It had been a good thirty seconds since the last person (....Lewis? She couldn't quite remember his name) had picked his starters. When she noticed this her face turned bright red and she awkwardly walked up to the screen. Quickly she selected her name, the only one left.
Cass scanned the Pokemon available to start with. There were so many, some she even recognized. She decided to stay against those. After a moment of looking through the colorful creatures, the first Pokemon that caught Cassidy's eye was a yellow and black lizard. It had kite shaped ears and big eyes, and it was kind of cute at the same time. Still, Cass was sure ut wouldn't stay cute when it evolved. That feature was saved for the pink blobby ones that she was all too familiar with. She tapped it lightly, selecting Helioptle.
Cassidy's next pick was a little harder, and being the last one Cassidy felt like she was being rushed. A punk panda was the next one to draw in her attention. It was another one that seemed to be not permanently cute, and its large eyes conveyed a look of defiance. Cass like it. It looked tough and mischievous. That was always a good sign, as it meant that this Pokemon could hold its own pretty well in battle, along with have a good few tricks up his sleeve. Cass's second starter was chosen to be Pancham.
Cass began going even faster. She didn't want to take too long on her last pick. She selected an ice type Pokemon, one that looked like an upside-down icicle with a face and legs. It looked pretty cute and like one that would end up to be strong, but this one seemed more defensive. Her final Pokemon was Bergmite. She tapped it and hesitated for a moment to confirm her selection. There went the coolly picked selection she was going for. The confidence she wanted to show was lacking. Cassidy swallowed, confirmed her starter collection, and then shrunk back into the 5 other student's "crowd". ------- The headmistress smiled again in understanding. In her many years of running the academy, she knew everyone would have a different reaction. She tapped a few more buttons on the screen with her bony fingers and then turned it off again, now that the starters were all picked.
"Thank you for choosing. Your Pokemon will be ready by the time we reach land. I hope you're excited. There's a large breakfast waiting for you in the dining room, and I'd suggest to eat up before we reach the school. You might want to get a bit more acquainted with each other while you're at it. You can leave your bags here if you wish.
"And do be careful," she added, "You don't want to stain your uniform on the first day." | |

| Liam sighed. Breakfast sounded good. He was quite hungry. Even he couldn't complain about a free breakfast. Still, as he scratched his scruff, he couldn't help but wonder if the other students got this treatment. He also wondered what the students at the Academy would be like. He suspected they would all be spoiled rotten brats. What a pain.
Liam stuck his hands in his pants pockets and sighed, longer than the one before. He rooted through his pockets again and found he had indeed left it in his room. He would have to go back and fetch it. Knowing his luck, some cleaner would throw it away by mistake. That would be really annoying.
Turning around, the slouch started to head back to his cabin. Raising his hand he called behind him, "I forgot something. Don't wait up for me or anything." Then he sauntered around the corner, disappearing with his hands in his pockets.
---
Roughly ten minutes later, Liam appeared in the dining hall, still as nonchalant as ever. Strolling over to the buffet, he helped himself to the wide selection. He filled his plate with an equal proportion of vegetables, fruits, meats, and starches. To complete the balanced plate, he poured a large glass of orange juice.
The took a seat and began to eat, staring around the room at everyone with his sunken, perpetually heavy eyes. | |

| August made her way to the dining area as well, her head still filled with the possibilities of the pokemon she had just chosen's potential. Though she HAD picked them based off of cuteness, and that usually led to the weaker pokemon. She sighed as she collected a small meal, she wasn't much of a breakfast person, before heading over to an area where nobody sat. The sole male of the group had been quite a ways away from her distance wise and she had her back turned to him, at least as much as she could. She nibbled on her food in boredom, she liked to do things while she ate, like watch TV and such. It was quite boring to sit at a table and eat in silence, since even if there was someone around they would all be too busy eating to speak.
The red haired woman simply crossed her legs and leaned back on the chair, causing it to stand on its two back legs slightly dangerously, but her foot under the table kept her from falling back if she were to lose her balance. Ocasionally, the ship's rocking would cause her to fall back into four legs and she eventually gave up. | |

| So it was time for breakfast. An arbitrary ritual for staving off starvation for another day. While it was a waste of time, eating was not a thing one could avoid, so Lilith found herself forced to join the other soon-to-be students in the dining area. Filling her plate with an amount of vegetables others would describe as "tiny", the black-haired girl took a seat afterwards, eating without saying a word. Hopefully noone would walk up to her and try to strike up a conversation all of a sudden. Lilith hated talking and she was horrible at keeping up a conversation. Whether one thing was caused by the other or whether it was purely coincidental was anyone's guess. So in general she was a girl, who would be having troubles in a social environment. And the ship she was on would be taking her to the social environment number one - school. Great. | |

| Calypso shuffled obediently to the dining area, despite herself knowing she wouldn't eat anything else on this cursed boat. Even as the shore drew closer, until her feet were firmly on the ground, any food she had consumed, would be forced back up again. Sliding into a random seat and put her head on her hand, the Sinnoh Representative waited for the landing that would come and maybe even get a bite to eat then. Sadly this was not a perfect world, and a girl (she didn't get names while on deck, she was kinda busy) sat near her, with a minuscule amount of veggies in front of her, which was enough of a poke to remind her that she was still hungry despite what she told herself. It was all fine and dandy until Liam (Or she assumed it was Liam, due to the two other name buttons that wasn't pressed when she got up, Liam being a masculine name compared to Cassidy) came with his breakfast plate which made her feel like she had been punched in the gut. It was filled with food, which reminded her more forcefully than the other girl's meal that she had barely anything to eat which stayed down, or in general anything to eat. The food seemed to stare back at Calypso, and her mind began to fight against the urge, when finally scowling, she pushed back her chair and stalked over to grab a plate.
Originally, she snatched a piece of toast, and turned back when the array of food beckoned and somehow she ended up with a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, eggs, a slice of bacon, and a single serve butter thingy, which she had promptly spread over her original piece of bread. Sitting back down she began chewing silently, waiting for one of the Representatives to speak first, which seemed unlikely. | |

| Cassidy smiled at the thought of food. She never really had much to eat at home. Her parents never really stocked up on snacks nor went out to eat, which let to two things: A thin figure and the urge to pig out whenever possible. Cass had been doing this all throughout the boat trip, but today being her last day here she decided to treat herself to extra.
Without a word, the girl filled her plate with everything she liked: pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon (she didn't care about the Pokemon the meat came from), hash browns, strawberries, yogurt, and sausage links, and a cup of orange juice. She gave herself a lot, but not too much, She liked eating, but she didn't want to waste food; that would be impolite. Everything on her plate she expected herself to eat.
Carefully carrying her breakfast over to the tables, Cass decided to site where some others were already settled. She sat down a few seats next to them, enough to be in earshot but far enough to not be included. Promptly, she began eating, glancing over at the others every once in a while. Cass ate fast, but not sloppily. Going to a sophisticated academy meant making sacrifices, and in her eyes this balanced out the shorts-under-skirt thing. She continued to eat in silence, the only sound coming from her being chewing. | |

| Liam was growing bored. He had almost finished his plate, four new people had sat down, and yet nothing had happened. What were these people, some kind of social lost causes or something? Granted, Liam himself was picky about his conversational partners, but something was better than nothing. As he chewed on his last bite of an apple, it became clear to him that he was going to have to be the extrovert. He frowned. Good thing he had gone back to his room.
As he scooted out of his chair, Liam pulled something odd from his pocket. He did some fiddling for a moment in his lap and after a moment raised to his mouth what appeared to be a pipe. It was an interesting item to be sure. The stem is self was roughly four inches long and made from briar wood. Made from the stem of a heath tree, the wood was rough and had been carved to resemble scales. Along the length were intricately carved runes that seemed to flow and curve down the way. The bowl itself was made of pure meerschaum, a mineral that is often found in the seas around his home. The rock had been carved into the shape of a large dragon claw holding an egg. After many long hours of smoke, the bowl which had originally been a starch white had matured in to a wonderful creamy brown. The egg had a particularly wavy tone, the colors ebbing and flowing through the entire egg giving it a smoky feel.
From a pouch around his belt, he produced a half a bowl's of tobacco and packed it into the egg with his finger. Then he struck a match he had retrieved from his shirt pocket on the table and lit the pipe, puffing a few times to help the flame walk along the blend. After a few quite moments of puffing, he sighed and took the smoke into his mouth, tasting a wonderful blend of vanilla and warm sweetness. He did not inhale the smoke into his lungs, though. Instead, he let the smoke sit gently in his mouth for a second or two until letting it slowly roll out of his mouth. The residual smell was almost as relaxing as the taste.
Sighing, content, Liam clenched the pipe in between his teeth and got out of his chair. He walked toward both August and Calypso, them being the closest people. He took a puff with every few steps.
He soon slid into a chair across from the two of them and looked at them deeply. Then, after a moment of slow puffing, Liam spoke through his clenched teeth.
"So... What's with the pants? August, is it?"
"And you," he said eyeing Calypso, "Aren't you just going to chuck all that up anyway?"
He puffed some more, the smoke a little too hot for his taste though it would slowly cool. | |

| Calypso was just about done with her huge meal and was making quick work out of her toast, when suddenly a sickly perfume-like scent nearly caused her to throw up, but instead she turned, intending to look at the other members with a 'really?' face when she instead saw Liam with a pipe stuck in between his teeth a small fog billowing out slowly, as he walked towards her and the girl, while still smoking. Instinctively she cringed slightly, something about smoking, pipe, cigar, cigarettes whatever, just didn't sit right with her. Yet the guy still came towards their table before finally sliding into a seat.
Trying to ignore the smoke, the Sinnoh Representative waited to see what he wanted, but when he finally spoke, her crystal blue eyes flashed with anger. "I'm sorry that I get motionsick when most others don't, and I'm sorry that I can't eat for two days and I'm starving and we are so close to the dock that I feel like I won't throw it up." she yelled angrily at Liam standing up with her piece of toast. An all to familiar feeling of vertigo occurred, as the smoke, mixed with her anger and the rocking of the ship. Instead of trying to fight it however, she instead threw up over Liam, and stalked out of the room with only her piece of toast. She was growing quite attached with it apparently. She named it Trenderman. | |

| Liam leaped out of his chair as the girl spewed onto the table. He averted his eyes and groaned. As the girl exited, toast clenched in hand, he scowled at her. Who the Hell throws up on the table? Was she aiming at him? Liam made a note to avoid her until they reached land.
Liam sighed and moved further down the table. Floating into another seat, he stared at August again, seeming to have forgotten what had just happened. Someone would clean it up.
"What the Hell was that, huh?' he asked Pants Girl as he took a few more puffs, nursing the flame inside the egg, which was now giving off a warm glow. | |

| Alouette had put a modest amount of food upon her plate, but upon noticing the strawberries, had taken a fair few and was now munching quietly on them from her seat. The fact that the boy across the table had taken out a pipe and had just started smoking at the table had annoyed her. She didn't like smoking full stop, let alone whilst you were eating; however, she had neglected to say anything as she hadn't wanted to start an argument. As Calypso stalked out of the dining room with her toast, Alouette quickly finished the pancake on her plate and grabbed the strawberries in her hand before standing up. "Uhm.. I haven't really introduced myself to all of you, so to save time later, I'm Alouette. But i'm gonna go and see if she's alright," she blinked before jogging after Calypso, strawberries in hand.
Alouette followed Calypso out of the room, quickly catching up to the other girl. "Hi," she smiled hesitantly, "You okay after that?" | |

| Even though she tried to supress it, Lilith couldn't help herself but chuckle at the spectacle, that had presented itself in front of her. It didn't happen often, that someone would empty their stomach onto someone else after all. And the guy's face was just priceless. Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad after all. As she finished eating, Lilith put her plate back before standing up again. Since she didn't have anywhere to go at the moment, the young girl simply continued to stand there, not doing anything. | |

| Cassidy was eating her food when Name-Starting-with-L took out a pipe and began smoking it while making small talk. Idiot, she thought, giving him the hairy eyeball. He'll get caught and expelled. What kinda guy does he think he is, anyway? Cass slowed down her eating. She wanted to see how the others would react.
And, as if on cue, the one girl who she had seen lose her lunch multiple times on the trip lost it once more. Although none of it got on her food, it was still a disgusting sight. Cass moved a few seats in the opposite direction, and then looked at her food. After seeing someone vomit, her large breakfast went from inviting to the equal of eating out of a trash can. She awkwardly poked at the remaining pancakes with her fork as another girl who had introduced Alouette, if the dark haired girl heard it right. Do I seriously have to go to this place with these nuts? Cass wondered. She sighed, pushed her half-empty plate a but in front of her and continued to watch what would happen next. | |

| "What the Hell was that, huh?" The boy had asked after the girl August hadn't noticed that she sat near made her exit, leaving lunch on the table and lunch on a part of the boy's clothes.
August blinked as a look of disgust was plastered on her face. She remained silent for a moment, astonished at what had just happened. She was sure that all the other students on the ship had probably witnessed that spectacle, and now the cause wanted to talk to her. She didn't want to be rude and leave though, so she merely moved a few seats away from the barf as a janitor came and complained about having just wiped the tables.
The red haired woman spoke as she passed Liam, "1. I'm not a fan of skirts, 2. Your pipe caused it and I would think about putting that away if I were you, not only would you get in trouble with the school, but I doubt the other students would appreciate their breakfast coming up on them like that poor girl..." She did not sound annoyed with the male, but neither was she ecstatic. She merely just wanted to get away from the putrid food chunks before she started to hurl herself.
She made sure she was well a ways away from the barf before returning to being by herself once more, except she was a bit closer to the one called Lil-something. The female had been off chuckling to herself about the sight, though August paid her no attention and sat down once more, having no where else on the ship to be at the moment. | |
