Mission Statement
Peak Academy is a place for Pokémon to learn and to share their skills with their peers. It is an educational community that invites prospective members to assume the role of a teacher or a student, through which they can participate in class events by creating or attending them, respectively. Additionally, particularly driven students are welcome to take a leadership position by forming a club and hosting events that are similar to classes. As members partake in their studies, the academy is happy to reward them for their dedication with funds and supplies to aid them in their outside endeavors. Exceptional work is always of interest and those who strive for it will be recognized for their efforts. Students and teachers of Peak Academy are welcome to hold positions in the guild or other IO’s, as the skills that the members gain from these affiliations are considered highly valuable. There are no restrictions to joining Peak Academy as long as your record is clean. If an outlaw is caught in the school and is unaccounted for, it will result in their expulsion.

Roles
(in order of seniority)

-Headmaster-
The headmaster is the leader of the school. They organize the data in the academy ledgers and they have the final say on teachers’ curriculums and the club leaders’ agendas. The headmaster also determines how many merit points the teachers and club leaders will receive for completing their classes/meetings, and may award a particularly favorable teacher or club leader with bonus merit points. Headmasters can teach classes in either 1 major or 2, depending on their preferences. The title of headmaster cannot be applied for; it must be earned through dedication or granted to a trusted confidant by the presiding headmaster(s).

-Teacher-
A teacher organizes classes for students to participate in. They create the curriculum that gets submitted to the headmaster for review, and they create the threads for their classes. Teachers also have the ability to award bonus merit points to students when they feel that the student has achieved something exceptional.

-Club Leader-
Club Leaders rank below teachers in terms of authority, but they serve similar purposes.They organize club meetings that offer students the ability to look into activities outside their majors for variety. Like teachers, club leaders may reward exceptional students in their meetings with bonuses, however they should do this less on average.

-Student-
Students are members who partake in the academy activities. As the starting role, it is easy to apply for and does not require any specialized information to be provided. They have full access to the rewards program and any classes within their major, plus any club meetings they find interesting Every member begins as a student.

Academy Offerings

-Majors-
Majors are broad topics of study that members are asked to claim in order to specify what they are studying. They can range from Battling and Exploration Practices to Home Ec and Performing Arts. Teachers are allowed to suggest new majors to the headmaster in their applications, and the headmaster will decide whether or not to implement the suggested major. Majors should not be too narrow of a topic, as it may be hard to come up with unique classes for a topic that is too narrow. A comprehensive list of the majors currently being featured in the academy will be kept in the Peak Academy Record Ledger thread. Once a month, a non-graduated member (includes teachers) may opt to switch one of their majors for another if they feel they wish to enter another area of study. They may do this 5 times total, and they must provide a reasonable explanation to the headmaster that justifies the switch.

-Classes-
Classes function similarly to guild missions. Classes are affiliated with a specific topic called a major, and can be joined by any student who has claimed the major associated with the desired class. A class can take place on school grounds or in a dungeon. To begin, a teacher will submit a "curriculum" (template to be provided) to the headmaster, which outlines what the teacher wishes to teach through the class and a goal that reasonably relates to the class materials.
Examples:
Cooking Class - I want to teach my students how to bake a pastry. Our goal will be to collectively roll 6 Oran Berries [in a dungeon] to bake with.

Hiking Class - I want to train my students to increase their stamina. Our goal will be to roleplay at least 3 complete pages.

Crafting Class - I want to teach my students to create [x]. Our goal will be to use [item] 3 times each in our thread.

For "RP" based goals (i.e. finding a specific pokemon and talking to them or helping them, putting on a public performance, ect.), the headmaster asks that teachers include a minimum 2 page goal to go along with the rp goal, so that there is a tangible standard that success can be judged on. There is one class that can be held by any teacher regardless of major, and that is detention.
Once the curriculum has been approved by the headmaster, the teacher can open it to the students by posting it in the Class Signups thread. Students can sign up by quoting an open class that they are interested in in the thread. At least one student has to sign up for a class before it can begin. Once the students are assembled, the teacher creates a topic and the class works on achieving their goal. Once the goal has been achieved, merit points will be assigned to all of the participants. The class thread itself does not have to be closed for merit points to be assigned as long as the goal has been met, however the headmaster kindly recommends that the topic end fairly soon after the goal has been met for record keeping purposes. Once complete, the class thread will be locked and the class will become "completed" instead of closed. Performing exceptional feats, attending classes frequently, ect. will net a member the consideration of their teacher for extra merit points. All classes will be recorded in the first post of the sign-up topic along with their reward, their participants, and their status (Open, Closed, or Completed). If a member wants to keep a specific record of the classes they took, the headmaster asks that they do so individually in their character records.

-Clubs-
If a student wishes to flex their leadership muscles, they may organize a club for other students to participate in. The topic of the club may be anything the student desires. The student must apply (application will be provided) with the headmaster to become a club leader, and then they may begin organizing meetings that correspond with their chosen topic. Club leaders submit "agendas" (template will be provided) to the headmaster via an application thread in the same way that teachers submit their curriculums, which should include the same information that a curriculum would contain (meeting topic and goal). After the agenda gets headmaster approval, the club meeting process proceeds as the class process does. Club meetings are posted in the Club Meeting Signups thread by club leaders once approved, and can be joined by students by quoting the post with the meeting that they are interested in. Clubs do not necessarily have dedicated members outside their leader, and as such students may attend any club event they find interesting. Like classes, all club meetings will be recorded in the first post of the sign-up topic along with their reward, their participants, and their status (Open, Closed, or Completed). If a member wants to keep a specific record of the meetings they attended, the headmaster asks that they do so individually in their character records.

-Merit Points-
Members of Peak Academy can receive item rewards and funds from the school though the accumulation of merit points. Merit points are awarded for attending classes, attending club meetings, and even just through loyalty or hard work. This can also include threads that are not classes or club meetings, provided they are explicitly created to work on some aspect of the student(s)'s education within the academy. These are considered "Independent Study" threads. The topic of such threads should be clear (preferably expressed in the title of the thread) and should reasonably relate to at least one of the majors of all participating students who desire credit for the thread. Some topics may be able to relate to multiple majors if broad enough, so if multiple students with multiple different majors are participating it is highly advised to keep topics broad so that everyone can participate in a way that will earn them credit.

Oran Berry Usage - (Character) explores ways to make dye out of Oran Berries for a class project [Performing Arts] / (Character) practices using Oran Berries during a battle [Battling] / (Character) tries to identify the specific aspects of Oran Berry plants so that they can easily be identified in the wild and collects samples to record this (Expeditionary Studies)

Independent Study threads should include the [Independent Study] tag in the title of the thread, as with classes.
The standard class is with worth 5-8 merit points and the standard club meeting is worth 4-6 (depending on the difficulty of the goal that the class or meeting is setting out to achieve). 1-3 merit points would be the reasonable range for bonus merit point awards. A member giving out unreasonable bonuses may be stripped of their position. 1 merit point is equivalent to 50 poke. Members can either exchange their merit points for straight cash, or they can save up and exchange them for an item off of a rewards list that is accessible to them, to the tune of 1000 poke per real-time month (totaling both cash and item values together). A member's rewards list will be determined by their chosen majors (this includes both teachers and students). Upon reaching 100 cumulative merit points between their two majors, a member (student or teacher) will become "Alumni" and will be considered graduated. These students can still take or host classes within the school. They will have the added privileges of requesting to join classes outside their two base majors and will receive priority consideration for the titles of teacher, club leader, and headmaster. Alumni teachers gain the ability to join classes as well. Merit point totals for all members will be tracked in the Peak Academy Record Ledger thread.

Academy Regulations

•While not a requirement, it is highly recommended that members of this IO join the Discord Server and toggle the "Academy" role onto themselves so that they receive live updates on new classes and new Academy policy. You can do this by typing "?academy" into any general chat.

• Both Teachers and Students are limited to 2 majors (teachers may only teach 2 and students may only learn 2). Headmasters may opt to teach only 1 major if they feel that is more conducive to fulfilling their other duties.

Entry Requirements

-Students-
Students are only required to add a declaration of intent to their application that explains why they want to study the majors they have chosen. This is to paint a better picture of how the academy fits into the student’s life, and also acts as a helpful reference for teachers.

-Teachers and Club Leaders-
To become a teacher or a club leader a member may submit a special application in the Interview Room. There members are asked to prove competency in role play as well as capability to lead by listing their character’s levels and adding a roleplay sample, respectively.

» Why does your character want to study these topics?: Because they're trying to join the guild, and figures that these classes would help her with that goal. In-character reasoning for each is, for Battling it's because she wants to grow stronger, that way she can actually be a good team member of a guild team. For PA, it's because she feels it could help her atleast a bit with her somewhat shy demeanor, so she could actually help people instead of stammering at social situations, or at criminals. Out of character however.. I just think it would be neat.

Performing Arts is her idea of fun; a bit showy and over the top, whilst Battling is something that sounds like it'd be genuinely useful if she ever got into a scrap.

Nevertheless, it had sparked his curiosity and was willing to give it a try. Essential skills will hopefully teach him the very essentials (like reading and writing, duh) and someone close to him had hinted the importance of battle both for self-defence and bonding with other pokemon in a way that words simply cannot achieve

» Why does your character want to study these topics?: Lincoln wants to be the best ~~little brother~~ asset he can be in the exploration business, and that means learning to be resourceful, cunning, and alert. He doesn't know much about dungeons (as seen in his blunderings within the Ruined Chateau) and so he wants to get more experience, but preferably in a way that won't get him killed. He's also interested in learning more about combat, but he doesn't want to study traditional means of fighting. He wants to have something unique up his sleeve, and a set of utility moves with some fancy footwork seems to be exactly what he's looking for. He's very enthusiastic about his goals so expect him to display similar enthusiasm in his classes.
