More Joy

First topic message reminder :

It was beautiful. After Revira had emerged into that other world, all she had seen up to now were things she wouldn't even have thought of as possible before. Crime. Pollution. Hatred. The show Johto Shore.
After all those horrifying things she had finally reached a calm, clean place again. An underwater forest, full of corals of every imaginable kind. In the distance, some Pokémon were swimming, although Revira couldn't figure out, who or what they were.
Maybe she should approach them? They might know, what had happened to turn this world into what it was now. Maybe Revira could fix it.
But how? She didn't even know much about this world at all.
A world, that had never been discovered by anyone before her and those few others, who ventured out as well. Maybe she could become a hero and save this world!

Proteus thought for a moment, what was a word that ended in "Y"? Why could not he think of anything? He stopped as that question, "Yelling." He said with a nod of satisfaction once more. He let the currents take him wherever they pleased; he had nowhere specific to go anyways. The Magikarp liked it like this, just drifting along and relaxing while playing a game and searching for Golden Seeds to assist him in becoming better, faster, and stronger.

And the Magikarp was back to boring words again. Was that one word an exception? No, she just had to continue trying! With confidence Revira exclaimed:
"Galvanoscope! An instrument to detect the presence and direction of electrical current!"
Now Proteus might respond with a slightly more difficult word again! If he really had improved, then Revira's journey into this strange, new cave had already paid off.
But she should try to reach her current goal as well! And at the moment that was reaching that other dungeon-thing. Hopefully they'd reach it soon. And there Revira had an idea. She could just ask Proteus!
Why hadn't she thought of this before?
"Are we there yet?"

"Almost, I just want to find a few more seeds before we actually go there...I'm still not strong enough..." Proteus knew he was making progress though. He loved these so called "Joy Seeds" they brought Joy to whoever ate them in a level! The golden fish remembered the game once more and spoke, "Escape" he said, recalling the memory of his accidental escape from forever being a part of the school in the form of a monstrous storm that caused him to believe he could fly.

While "escape" wasn't that complicated, it was a step in the right direction. Thus Revira felt supported in her beliefs and continued the verbal barrage with:
"Ebullioscope! An instrument used to measure the boiling points of liquid substances!"
Once again a considerable amount of time had passed, although "considerable" might be only true in the mind of the blue, shelled creature. Thus, the Omanyte decided to ask again.
"Are we there yet?"
Hopefully the answer would be a different one this time. So much had happened on the duo's way. They had met Pokémon. They had fought Pokémon. They had even found items!
Speaking of items...what was that?

"No," The magikarp spoke again, "We wont be going there until I find a few more joy seeds..." The magikarp gave a swish of his tail to speed up his relaxing ride on the current as he passed over a corsola spike to a more distant item that seemed to be more important than the spike. He had been finding a lot of the things, and had not been picking them up due to the fact they were so frequent. They had no value, nothing he could sell. He blinked as he neared the other item.

As Proteus mentioned, that they wouldn't be going to the dungeon, Revira had to ask herself, what the reason for that could be. Did they open a kind of portal to that place? That would be amazing! Not even her homeworld knew of such technology and here one apparently only had to find a few strange seeds!
What kind of plant might it be, that was growing those seeds? Would one be able to cultivate it? Then they wouldn't have to search anymore! And they would need only one seed to try it!
Bu just as the Omanyte wanted to ask that question, she realized, that the Magikarp had used quite a few words, but none of them began with the letter "E". Thus Revira decided to simply ask both questions.
"You still have to choose a word! If you don't know, ebullioscope ends with an "E"!", she cheerfully exclaimed.
"So...have you found any Joy Seeds yet? With enough horticultural skills, we might be able to cultivate them!"

"Culti-what? I'm trying to find them so I can eat them. They help you grow stronger and brings me closer to evolving, I'm very weak as is, so I need them to be bigger and stronger. Also "Elect" for our game"
The magikarp passed over yet another Corsola spike, the items were beginning to annoy the poor fish. He wondered just how many corsola lose their spikes anyways? He decided to let the thought pass for now. He wasn't interested in such knowledge, he was only interested in finding the wonderful seeds that would lead him to greatness.

"Tachyphrasia! Abnormally rapid speech!", Revira responded, involuntarily providing the Magikarp with a real-life case of Tachyphrasia.
Did Proteus really not know, what "cultivate" meant? Had this world not discovered agriculture yet? If so, how could they have survived for so long? A functioning agricultural system played a large role in creating a foundation for any even moderately advanced civilisation. Either they had found a new way to grow food or this world was extremely primitive. Either way the knowledge about growing plants might help them, so the Omanyte decided to teach the Magikarp about it.
"To cultivate a plant describes the process of artificially growing plants with the intent of either increasing the population of this plant, recieving an useful product or both. To sum it up it could allow us to make our own Joy Seeds!"

The magikarp had never thought of growing joy seeds, how long would it take though? He would rather have them now than in several years. The Magikarp paused for a moment and spoke, "Erm...sure you could try it, but I don't know if it would work with Joy Seeds...my school just swims around and eats anything they can find...You never know if you'll not find things for several days. Though corsola spikes seem to be annoyingly common along with Rainy Orbs.." He passed over another rainy orb, ignoring it.

"School? So a working educational system exists, but there doesn't seem to be any applied knowledge of horticulture in this world. How peculiar. So I can not assume a normal state of development as known to us, but rather a strange mixture of various stages. It might be possible, that there are inventions out there, that even the eldest don't know about. A study of the history of this world might help to further one's understanding about it...but I don't see any libraries here..."
Continuing to swim through the coral, the Omanyte kept following Proteus as much as she could. Hopefully they'd find those items soon. Patience was a virtue the young Water type hadn't mastered.
A lot more practice would be neccessary, before the Magikarp would be safe of questions such as:
"Have you found the Joy Seeds yet?"

"Educational system? I mean school as in a group of Magikarp...It was hard to stick together in my school because of the currents, me and my parents got separated often...And uh, "Also" for our game."
The magikarp stopped and decided to swim upwards a bit, at least the current decided the fish should go up. He was surrounded in Coral that he know bumped into frequently, the current was becoming slightly more harsh.

"Obnubilate! To obscure and-slash-or hide from view!"
It was in that moment, that Revira realized, that the currents had returned.
"That meanie is doing it again! She's using her evil magic! It's probably because of her, that you and your parents got separated in your class at school. Are your parents teachers or was it father-son day or why were your parents at your school? Doesn't matter. I'll have to go and teach that mean Buizel another lesson!"
The Rock type turned around, ready to swim the entire way back to tell the Buizel to quit trying to throw everyone around with her magic. She apparently still was the same meanie and defeating her hadn't helped at all! If only she could get the Buizel's parents...

It was another buizel, yes, but not the same. This one seemed angrier, and had revenge written in its eyes. The buizel spoke, "You beat her up! You're going to pay of that!" The voice revealed him to be male before he shot forward towards the omanyte, wanting to hurt it as much as possible along with that wretched golden fish.
Proteus looked at the buizel and frowned, "Don't they ever learn?" He too thought the buizel was the female one, and hadn't heard the buizel's declaration of revenge. The golden carp was cloaked in a white aura as he moved in for a tackle attack.

"You are...! Did you instigate that other meanie to use her magic thingy for bad things? That is even meanie-er! Why are you doing those things? Think of the public transport system!"
Revira was so absorbed in her rambling, that she didn't even notice the Buizel attacking her. Luckily the attacker only managed to hit her shell, hurting both combattants. However the concussion managed to disrupt the Omanyte's thought processes, causing a slight confusion. Unable to remember, why she was even here, the Omanyte swam over to the next coral and decided to...hug it? At least she wasn't harming anyone.

Proteus stopped his second attack on the buizel when it moved near Revira. The pokemon watched his friend hug a branch of coral. The magikarp was a bit confused, and was struck with an attack from the buizel before the buizel turned to go after the small pokemon once more. The magikarp shook himself as much as he could underwater before thrashing his tail back and forth as he came at the buizel in a Flail attack. His eyes stupidly remained closed, and the risk of hitting the omanyte was great. The Magikarp was too startled from the sudden attack to realize this.
