More Joy

First topic message reminder :

It was beautiful. After Revira had emerged into that other world, all she had seen up to now were things she wouldn't even have thought of as possible before. Crime. Pollution. Hatred. The show Johto Shore.
After all those horrifying things she had finally reached a calm, clean place again. An underwater forest, full of corals of every imaginable kind. In the distance, some Pokémon were swimming, although Revira couldn't figure out, who or what they were.
Maybe she should approach them? They might know, what had happened to turn this world into what it was now. Maybe Revira could fix it.
But how? She didn't even know much about this world at all.
A world, that had never been discovered by anyone before her and those few others, who ventured out as well. Maybe she could become a hero and save this world!

Phew...so Proteus was all right. What a relief! Well...he wasn't exactly "all right", but he didn't seem to be dead, so that was a good thing! Still...what had happened to the Magikarp might have caused some serious injuries and maybe even damage to the cranium.
Still concerned about her friend's wellbeing, the Omanyte asked:
"Don't you remember? That blue thing attacked you and then you fell asleep...so...how are you? Is your peripheral vision still intact? And can you remember your name?"
While she didn't remember too much about the emergency treatment of fainted Pokémon, Revira was sure, that one had to check, whether the victim's long-term memory had sustained any damage. And asking for a name, date or similar factoid was an easy method to determine this.

Proteus shook off a corsola thorn that had stuck to his side as if begging him to take it with him. The golden aquatic creature looked to the omanyte and spoke, "Y-Yeah, now I do..Yes I remember my name..." Proteus was still a bit shocked that he had fainted though, he had not been beaten in his whole life, mainly because he always either ran away or ignored any taunts. The Magikarp flailed a bit as he proppelled himself forward to swim, "A-Anyways, we should keep going. I'll be alright."

"We should still rule out the possibility of damage to the praefrontal cortex! You could simply be believing, that you remember your name, but catually have forgotten it! So please tell me your name!"
Now Revira was starting to get worried again. Was Proteus not telling her his name, because he actually forgot it? Hopefully he really was okay. Those meanies had really gone too far now!
The Omanyte would protect her friend! She would become the hero, who saved the golden Magikarp!
Or...something similar at least. But for now, she still had work to do.
With a mixture of concern and joy, the young Rock type followed the Magikarp on their journey for the elusive Joy Seeds.

"Proteus."
Why didn't the omanyte believe him? What was all this talk about cortex? What was a cortex? The magikarp was befuddled by the omanyte's massive vocabulary once more. The golden fish did not let his confusion appear on his face though, for what if the pokemon had thought him stupid? He remembered overhearing a conversation about his kind, about how "Stupid" and "Insignificant" they were...was he that way too or was he too different from the other magikarp to be considered a magikarp?

Excellent! So the Magikarp did remember his own name, proving, that he didn't have a minor case of severe brain damage after all! Happily Revira continued to follow the golden fish through the ocean, looking at every little stone or piece of coral in the firm belief of it being a Joy Seed. Each and every time she was disappointed, yet her enthusiasm remained undamaged, her will unbroken.
Once again a question entered that mind of hers. She hadn't asked in a long, long time, so the Omanyte anxiously awaited the Magikarp's response to her inquiry:
"Have you found any Joy Seeds yet?"

"Sadly no.." The Magikarp sighed as he tossed another Corsola spike to the side with his tail fin. The golden fish looked around before turning to the seemingly endless forest of coral that gave the area its name. He huffed in determination though, "I'm sure we'll find them if we just keep on looking! There's no WAY that was all the joy seeds this place had to offer!" The magikarp gave his tail a strong swish and launched himself forward as he weaved his way jaggedly through the water.

"Well...if they really are that powerful, maybe the meanies are collecting them as well so normal Pokémon can't find them..."
Having said that, Revira stopped for a second. Only by finishing her sentence, she had realized, how much meaner those bullies were than anything she could ever have expected! What would make a nice, peaceful Pokémon do such horrifying things and why?
And if the cause of this all had this much power, could it even be stopped?
No, the Omanyte had to banish those dark thoughts!
If there was even the slightest chance to reach salvation for this world, they would have to try!

The Magikarp was thinking about what the omanyte had said about bullies hogging all the joy seeds. The thought made him cringe, what if it was true? The bullies would eat the joy seeds, and become stronger and stronger as any attempts to punish them grow less and less effective. The Magikarp swallowed and didn't notice a strange pink shape just ahead of him as he bumped into a corsola. The corsola leaped off the seabed in fright and turned around with a bubble attack.

Not being able to see the pink Pokémon in front of her, the Omanyte accidentally bumped into it as well.
Immediately a shocked Revira turned around, apologizing profusely.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there? Are you hurt? Please don't be hurt! I didn't mean to swim into you! I'm so sorry!"
Once again Revira hadn't realized, that the Pokémon they just met, wasn't nice at all. Hopefully she would find out without her or Proteus fainting this time. The Rock type didn't want to go through those horrifying moments of shock ever again.
To think, that Pokémon were capable of knocking each other out just like that...

The corsola ignored the little omanyte's words and simply shot forth its bullet-bubbles. The bubbles glistened as they shot through the water. Proteus managed to move slightly out of range of the bubbles, avoiding being hit by the majority of them. He was still struck by the bubbles that managed to make it as far as he did though. He realized his mistake only a moment later, he was farther away from the omanyte, but on a brighter side the corsola was in the middle of them. 'That is a good thing...right?' he thought.

With the Corsola now between the two, Revira could clearly see it attacking her friend.
Needless to say, she was not amused and descended into one of her usual rants again:
"Why are you doing this? Stop right now! Don't you know, how mean this is? There's no reason for you to do this, yet you do it? Why? Don't you want everyone to be able to live in harmony with each other? What is being mean going to do for you? Nothing at all! So please just stop doing that! Prove, that you are capable of rational thought and stop ignoring me!"

"I'm being mean!?" the corsola suddenly spoke, "You're the ones who attacked me first!" it growled, finally paying attention to the prehistoric pokemon. "I'm da*n well capable of rational thought, you think me stupid!?"
Proteus blinked, this pokemon was civilized? He thought back to when he had bumped into the corsola, maybe it had thought he was trying to attack it. Then again when the omanyte bumped into it as well. Was this a big misunderstanding? Proteus did not let his guard down though, after what had happened with the buizel, the fish was suspicious.

"Attack?! I didn't attack you at all! We were just swimming through here and suddenly you attack us!"
Revira did not understand. This Pokémon did not seem to be corrupted, yet it did attack them.
But the things it said didn't make any sense at all! Was this another type of corruption? Had it evolved to the point of being able to mimick normal Pokémon speech? That was horrifying! If it were to evolve even further, corrupted Pokémon could infiltrate normal facilities and do even meaner stuff there! They had to be stopped!
"We can stop the corruption! You just need to believe in us! We shall defeat the catastrophe with science!"

"Corruption? You're insane!" The corsola snorted, "He was the one that attempted to tackle me!" The corsola nodded its head towards the golden magikarp. Proteus was clueless about the current events, too confused by who's the bad guy here to do much. Was it really his fault? Or was the pokemon faking it like the buizel faked it long ago. Truth or trap? Fact or fake? The magikarp's head began to hurt with trying to figure such things out...

"Now that can't be true! Don't you see, that Proteus is far too weak to even be able to use Tackle? So how should he have attacked you? It should be obvious to see, that his power level is far below the level required to know how to charge into things!"
Why wasn't Proteus objecting? The Cor-something obviously needed psychatric help! Hopefully this horrifying corruption could be cured somehow. This rock-like Pokémon could use its abilities for good instead of neutral! Revira had to convince it, that the golden Magikarp would never do such an evil thing! Then they might even become friends! Did the plant-thing even have friends? The more she thought about it, the sadder the Omanyte became.
