A Kanto Journey

Reina Brightwell:

It was a quiet morning in Viridian City, the sun was shining and a few white, fluffy clouds could be seen in the vast blue of the sky. Reina yawned, splashing some water into her face. She had woken up rather early this morning in her excitement and still felt the effects of a mere few hours sleep.
Hurrying downstairs Reina grabbed herself some breakfast before grabbing her coat and scarf and heading out. She yelled a quick, "See you later!" to her mother, before closing the door behind her and jogging up the stone pathway to the gate that marked the edge of their house.

Carefully closing the gate behind her, Reina pet her mother's Doduo and Ponyta's heads before heading off. Today was of course the day she would get her first Pokemon and she would finally be able to start her very own Pokemon Journey!
Reina slowed down as she reached the edge of the City, passing through the gate area and waving to the guard as she wandered through. She continued this slower pace as she headed down Route 1 towards Pallet Town and Professor Oak's laboratory.

"Well that works out for all of us then!" James nodded his head, happy that everyone would be able to set off on their travels with their own pokemon. Of course, there was the thought of where the mistake had been made, and having already made on mistake that day James couldn't help but feel slightly nervous that it could have been him.
"Well, you all pick what you want, I think I'll go with Charmander." He said to the group, knowing that it shouldn't cause any problems since everyone else wanted a different pokemon.

"None of you were a mistake," replied Professor Oak, "The mistake was that I did not realise four of you were arriving today, otherwise I would have brought more Pokemon. As luck would have it though, we have a unique solution to our problem." The professor smiled, watching the Eevee as it agreed to go with Reina. It already seemed to be quite attached to her.

"Anyway... I'll have to get a fourth set of equipment from the back, hold on just a moment."
The professor disappeared into a room whilst the others were choosing and getting to know their starters. He soon returned with an extra pokedex, map and six more pokeballs. Handing out the equipment to everyone, he gave an extra pokeball to Reina for the Eevee she had befriended. The colour of each person's pokedex matched the starter that had been chosen; for Richard it was green, James it was red and Lucas' was bright blue. Reina's was the odd one out, hers being a rather pale blue in colour instead of representing a definitive type.

Reina held the extra pokeball out to the Eevee, who stared at it for a moment, looking from the shiny red and white ball to Reina and back again. Reina had left the choice up to the Eevee, who blinked before gently touching it's nose to the ball and being drawn inside.

Reina's Inventory:

As Richard was handed his equipment, the Bulbasaur...no...HIS Bulbasaur let out a joyful "Bulba!"
Obviously it couldn't wait to see the world with him.
"Hehe...you'll have to wait a bit. We have to say thanks to the nice professor first now, don't we?", Richard told his new partner.
"So...thanks. I am most grateful.", he adressed Professor Oak, the Bulbasaur chiming in.

Lucas looked at the blue pokédex and smiled, he finally has a Pokémon he could start an adventure. He picked up his squirtle and smiled as he asked "you ready for the adventure of our lives?" The squirtle smiled and replied "squirt!" Lucas felt proud to be on the road to becoming a trainer he was shaking more than before, but he didn't notice.

James smiled and took his pokedex, debating whether or not to examine everyone's Pokemon with it now or later, maybe getting a head start on his pokedex. Instead he placed it in his pocket, before lifting up the Charmander.
"We're going to have a pretty great time out there, won't we?" He asked his new partner. The Charmander responded with an almost exasperated "Char.", surprising James slightly. He chuckled nervously and accepted the rest of his items, putting them away before nodding his head to the professor.
"Thank you." He said to him, feeling excited to get started on a journey.

"Thankyou Professor!" grinned Reina as the professor showed them out of the lab, giving them all helpful tips and information as they wandered back outside. Reina didn't register all of it, as instead she was using her new pokedex to check on her Eevee's stats. She discovered that it was female and began thinking of name possibilities.
Quickly scanning the three starters, she put the pokedex into her bag and let the Eevee out of the pokeball. Blinking, she picked it up and continued petting it in her arms.
"So what sort of name do you think you'll want?" she asked the Eevee. Of course she only got replies of "Ee! Eevee!" but she continued to think.

Richard bowed to thank the professor, his Bulbasur attempting to do the same, only to land on its face.
As the two of them left the laboratory again, the Bulbasaur was hopping behind Richard, having a bit of trouble keeping up with him.
"So...you need a name, right? How about..."
After spending a long time thinking about a fitting name, Richard spoke up again:
"How about Alescus? That means "grow up strong" in an old language."
The Bulbasaur was grinning to both ears and emitted a cheerful: "Bulbasaur!", obviously happy with his new name.

Lucas smiled at his squirtle, and stopped to think for a second. "I'll call you Kasumi, it means water, I know it's not that original but it will do!" The squirtle just continued to smile and then happily said "squirt!" When it got its new name. Lucas stood up strait and thanked the professor for the Pokémon and then turned to his new friends.

As he went outside with the others, still holding his new pokemon, James pulled out his pokedex and placed the Charmander on the ground, scanning it and the other starters with his pokedex. As the others started to name their pokemon, he realized that he hadn't had a name for his yet.
"Okay, now for a name. Let's see, uh..." He started to think, and chuckled nervously, realizing that he couldn't think of one. The Charmander seemed to look up at him disapprovingly, waiting for him to make a decision.

After a short period of thinking, Reina finally came up with a name she thought was perfect.
"What about Evelyn?" she asked the Eevee. It was feminine, but still had an air of grace to it, which Reina thought was perfect for the little Eevee.
"Eevee!" it cried happily, showing her support for the name. Reina grinned, "Awesome!" before turning to the others.
"So... what are you three hoping to do now that you can go out into the world and journey with Pokemon?" she asked, curious about the four people she'd met today.

"Well...I'm planning on becoming a Pokémon researcher in the future. And if one wants to research Pokémon, one would certainly need Pokémon, so I'll probably become a trainer as well.", Richard answered, although he admittedly didn't have much of a plan on the topic of what he should do right now.
"What about you guys?"

Lucas stopped to think for a second. He had thought of it before, butter when put under the spot it took him a while to process his thoughts, only to a degree that it took him a minute to think of his answer. "Well it's between coordinator or trainer, I realy don't know" he said smiling, still embarrassed about his hair. He hoped that he would turn out good at what he did, he realy wanted to make a name for himself.

"I already know for sure, I'm going to go be a trainer." James responded, smiling at the group before jumping slightly.
"Wait, I've got it. How about Leo for a name?" He turned back to his Charmander, who seemed to hesitate slightly before nodding to show approval for the name. James chuckled slightly, happy to finally get the whole naming factor over with and turned back to the group.
"Well, looks like we're going into some similar ideas for the future." He commented, smiling.

Reina grinned, "I hope to be a coordinator and a pokemon breeder."
She scratched behind the little Eevee's ear once more, "Which means we'll have to do some training later, Eva!"
Thinking back to the stats the Pokedex had shown her for the little Eevee, she began to think up possibilities for move-combinations. Shadow Ball certainly sounded like a useful move to work with, so she'd start with that when they got a chance to practice.

"So...it's certainly been fun, but I think the two of us need to be going now. Pokémon don't research themselves after all. Or...maybe there are some, that actually do...some Psychic types maybe? That would be one interesting topic to focus on...", Richard spoke, degenerating into mumbling as he went on.
"Anyways, nice having met you!"
"Bulba!"
