Within the Rift

Izumi got an odd sensation as she jumped through the Rift, although she couldn't quite put her claw on what was so strange about it. All she knew was that things were completely black, and then she was standing on an odd, light purplish stone, which vaguely looked like the surface of the moon, that was suspended above a black void with one path leading away from it. In fact, everything inside the rift except for the floating rocks and platforms was pitch-black, yet she could still see clearly. It was a very odd place indeed.

As they began to move on Izumi noticed how heavy her bag was getting already and her heart began to swell up with a flurry of emotions. She felt pride in how far she and her sister had come already, and all they had discovered during their journey. She also felt the slightest tinge of homesickness, but she barely noticed it. She did feel slightly sad as well, as it seemed she and her sister would be taking different paths once they got to the town. She smiled and shook her head, her eyes soft with a lone tear hanging in her eye.

Tsukishiro was about to start humming again when she glanced back and noticed the tear in Izumi's eye. She paused, tilting her head slightly.
"What's wrong?" she asked, a hint of worry in her voice.

"Oh, nothing... Just thinking about things." Izumi grinned sadly. She was so enveloped in her thoughts that she wasn't really paying attention to the path in front of her. She ended up putting her paw down on a small stack of five Silver Thorns.

"YOWCH." she yelped as she backed up a few steps and tried to pull the Thorns out of her paw with her teeth.

"Alright then..." she replied as they carried on walking.

When Izumi stood on the thorns, Tsukishiro bit her lip, trying not to laugh. She wasn't llaughing because she had trodden on them... more because that was the third set of thorns Izumi had found.

"What is with all these thorns?!" Izumi exclaimed as she deposited her third set of thorns into her bag. "If this trend continiues I'll be able to buy a house with all the money I get from these."

Tsukishiro laughed for a little while longer before she purposely calmed herself down. It was probably funnier than it should have been, after all it was only a few sets of Thorns. Even so, Shiro still chuckled for a while as they moved on.

When all was calm once more in the grey passages, Tsukishiro began to think about the Deerling again.
"I wonder how far she wandered into the Rift..." she thought, absent-mindedly.

"I sure hope she didn't go too far, for her sake." Izumi agreed ominously. All of a sudden, her nose started twitching furiously as she caught the scent of another Pokemon. "Were not alone..." she growled.

Their next encounter appeared to be a young Natu. It wandered down the dark, grey pathways with no apparent purpose in mind. The Natu happened to cross paths with the two Absol quite by accident, literally almost walking into them. However instead of trying to talk things over, she immediately attacked the Absol in an attempt to defend herself from the intruders.
The Natu hopped into the air, shooting towards Izumi, her beak glowing white as she used Peck.

Izumi stopped in her tracks when she saw the Natu. She had no intention of attacking it, she
just sorta grinned and thought, "aww..." as it walked by. But that all changed when the little bird attacked her. She jumped out of the way and stared it down as it flew past her.

The Natu attempted to use Peck again, this time aiming for Tsukishiro. The younger Absol easily dodged the move and the tiny Natu was beginning to feel embarassed because of how easily she kept missing.

She Leered at both Absol before slowly making her way towards Tsukishiro. At the last second, she turned and used Peck, aiming for Izumi.

Izumi was a little taken off-guard by the Natu's attack. She danced to the right, but the Natu managed to graze her leg. She stumbled away, then prepared a scratch attack, and dashed at the small bird.

The Natu retaliated with another Peck move. She targeted the Absol's claws and used her beak like a sword, parrying each swipe.

Tsukishiro wasn't sure if she wanted to jump in or not since the Natu was so small.... She could end up missing and hitting Izumi instead.

Izumi continiue the onslaught, and while she slashed she prepared her Feint attack, then waited for and opening between Scratch attacks to attack. She raised her horn and brought it down on the Natu, hoping for a good hit.

The Natu tried to block the feint attack with her Peck, but it didn't work. The Feint was much more powerful than a Scratch and so hit the tiny Natu directly, easily knocking pit the small Pokemon.

Tsukishiro just blinked. That Natu had some courage she had to admit.
"Moving on...."

"Yes..." Izumi agreed, stepping forward. As they walked on, the scenery began to change. There were more small floating islands around, and the terrain began to become more crumbly and broken apart. "Sheesh, look at this place..." Izumi commented as they walked on.
