Chapter 01: Beginings.
After a long period of wandering, mostly being chased or harassed by random pokemon, in and out of many mystery dungeons Trace finds himself unknowingly in a dungeon close to Grassviel Town. -Bonding in the Forest of Shadows: Wandering closer to Grassviel Town from the far side of this dark forest Trace encounters a friendly Charmander and shortly after that a Litwick appears. Caught by suprise Trace and the charmander try to fight the lickwick however their attacks only pass through the ghost type. Trace ends up unconscious after slamming into a tree trunk. - He woke up alone later that day and managed to wander into town, however it was too late to learn of this village he has encountered. He heads down a dirt path and finds a small pond just beyond the outskirts of the village. Deciding its as good as anyplace to sleep Trace curls up and spends the night in the open air. -living in a forest: After his initial introduction to the village Trace spends several days getting acquainted with the village while living in the outskirts in a hollow he discovered near the small pond. On one particular day when Trace was returning to his burrow he noticed a different Riolu in a tree. This was Noel the Riolu, however introductions were cut short with the sudden appearance of an angry Trevenant that attacked the pair. The battle was ended by a tag-team effort, and thankfully neither of them were seriously hurt. The final strike did result in Trace being thrown into the lake though. In an effort to save face in light of the medium bruising he received from the Trevenant Trace agreed to compete against Noel in a footrace... -Berried Treasure: After recovering from the Trevenant fight Trace left his den on a beautiful day. Feeling like it would be a perfect time to go exploring Trace bounded off to Pecha Forest. He encountered Varda, a bird pokemon looking for peacha berries, at the entrance and agreed to help the pokemon. However, when Varda got stuck in a bush, Trace overreacted and ended up throwing his temporary companion out of sight. He fell onto his back disoriented by all of the movement. By the time he recovered, he had no clue where the small bird had disappeared to. In a complete panic Trace dashed off in a random direction without thinking that he could become completely lost. -Lost in the woods: (Thread may resume?) As luck would have it, Trace did manage to become completely lost. He had wandered into Shadowhue forest, and ended up so exhausted that he collapsed. He could have died if a certain buizel hadn't discovered him in time. This Buizel, although weak, took it upon himself to rescue Trace, and managed to revive Trace on the way to somewhere safe. After a close encounter with a dangerous Forretress the pair reached Shadowhue falls. -Lost, but safe and sound: (thread never created) Trace and Jet recover overnight at Shadowhue Falls. While Trace's sleep is interrupted by his nightmares, he refuses to tell Jet about it in the following morning. -Newfound Friendships: (thread never created) After resting in the Falls, the pair journey back through Shadowhue Forest. Since neither of them are in critical condition, they actually have a rather good time exploring and hunting for items. Finally, after a long exploration, Trace and Jet part ways for now. For his part, Trace wanted to recover an apple he had found earlier but left in a makeshift den within Small Pond. -Lost Apple: Getting to the Small Pond was fast, but what was waiting there for him was trouble. A territorial houndour had claimed an area that contained Trace's den. There was no way the Houndour would allow Trace to recover his apple, but Trace was also determined to take it back. The two fought, but Trace was clearly outmatched. Knowing that he couldn't survive against the Houndour, Trace fled.
Interlude: The wanderings of a coward.
After the loss of his temporary house and the apple he was hoping to gift to his rescuer, Trace was too distraught to remain at Grassveil. So he did the only thing he had done all his life: Run, run, and run some more. After leaving the town, he kept his head low and did his best to avoid just about everything he could. Because of this he was in the proverbial darkness for so long he even lost track of the passage of time itself. Life continued for him as it always had: Being chased away from one danger to another with only faint reprieves in between. Through all this, the town of Grassveil appeared in his dreams again and again like a shining utopia compared to his current life. When he couldn't put it off any longer, Trace found his paws taking him back there on half-remembered roads. It was time for second chances.
Chapter 02: Second Chances? -All Caught up!
- Storyline goals:
I only have three major sections to Trace's development, because I don't want to frustrate myself with trying to keep a character in a rigid plot when there's random stuff happening around him.
Rising Action: Trace the coward? This is the electrike who trudged back into civilized life after spending most of his life in the wilds and running for his own life. He is jumpy, afraid of the dark and enclosed spaces, and doesn't want to get tied down with commitments. As such he doesn't want to join the guild, and lives in a self-made shelter near the small pond at the edge of Grassviel. However he does start to make a name of himself for helping various pokemon out as they travel into various mystery dungeons.
While Trace doesn't talk about himself much, and keeps a mask of false positivity around others, he isn't the sort to abandon those he is traveling with. This is moreso because he hates the thought of leaving others to fend for themselves rather than any actual desire to help. He feels it is his obligation to fight alongside them in battle.
Climax: An act of selfishness Electrikes only have one evolution, and so I would like for Trace's evolution to mean something. An evolution of both his character and his form. But for that to happen, there needs to be a catalyst: An internal shift where he realizes that, instead of helping someone he feels somehow obligated to help, he genuinely wants to help that pokemon because they are his friend. There is no specific scenario where this happens in my mind, but at the least he needs someone he cares about. Granted this can come about anywhere between level 13 and 31 so there's a very comfortable window for that to happen.
Falling Action: The fearless Manectric? After evolving, Trace feels inherently different. The boost in power gave him confidence, and the act that brought about his evolution made him believe that true strength shows itself when you're helping others. He quickly joins the guild and makes the effort to better himself in combat and exploration.
- Relations:
Noel the (Lucario) Riolu Friendly A Riolu (Who has since then evolved, but Trace doesn't know that) that he met one night when he was returning to his temporary home near the small pond.
Jet the Buizel Friend A Buizel who saved him when he had collapsed in Shadowhue Forest.
Varda the Swablu Friendly/unknown A pokemon he met when he tried to explore Pecha Forest. Trace didn't get to learn much about the bird because he lost Varda after accidentally throwing the bird out of a bush.
Zera the Houndour Unknown/Enemy This is the houndour that drove Trace from the den that sufficed as his home in Grassviel. He might not recognize the pokemon immediately, but it is hard to forget someone like him after what happened.
Inactive characters: Tepiggy the Tepig Indifferent A Tepig that ran into Trace when he entered Grassviel town.
Brolin the Charmander Friend This charmander is the first pokemon Trace had met as he approached the village. Circumstances in Shadowhue forest gave Trace the feeling of frendship to this pokemon, however Trace hasn't seen him since.
Kendall the Litwick unknown/indifferent a Litwick Trace met in Shadowhue forest, along with Brolin. Trace isn't sure of what to make of this pokemon as he was only able to interact with the litwick for a short moment before falling unconsciousness.
