Requesting information regarding pokés

So, I've recently signed up (still preparing my character's bio), and so I'm almost ready to embark on the adventures in this forum.

However, before that, I have a question to ask, regarding poké.

As I understand from the rules, poké is pretty much this world's currency, and everyone starting up will be given 5000 pokés once they start (10000 pokés if they choose to be shiny).
Here's where my question is ; "Is it allowed, in the history section of the bio, to include some additional pokés from the earnings of a past job before embarking on the adventures (outside the 5000 / 10000 for the starters), as some reserve money for my character ?"

I ask this since ... I suppose when you start with your character, your starter poké will be pretty much used up for the character's creation, thereby leaving 0 (!)
pokés for my character as to what I understand. After all, this forum doesn't appreciate negative amount of pokés (you having debt) now is it ?

Of course, I won't add something as exorbitant as thousands or millions right at the start ; I don't like any cheating whatsoever ... In the bio I'm currently building, I plan to include an additional 500 - 800 pokés for my character as reserve money to be used for emergencies (e.g to buy apples before exploring dungeons), outside the 10000 poké for my character (I'm planning a shiny BTW).

You cannot start as a shiny pokemon, because you only receive 5000 poke at the beginning. And no, you cannot include more poke when you start, you have to earn it just like everyone else. The poke that you have In-Character is not reflective of what poke you have Out of Character. You simply cannot buy items used in dungeons (such as Oran Berries, Reviver seeds, and the like) with In-Character money.

Oh ... Okay then :) no grudges taken (though at first, since I saw some shiny pokémon bios in 'Approved Submissions', I thought it's allowed to start off as a shiny immediately. My bad I guess).

So basically I have to start from absolute ZERO, and can't buy consumable supplies from stores ... Well, while it can be inconvenient (I'm sorry if it offends you, I honestly don't mean to break any rules here), it adds a new layer to the challenge, so in fact it can be much more fun if I plan correctly (and also study on how to manage financing IRL, heh), and so ... I welcome it.

Bit of a correction here for you as you may have misinterpreted Silver's message.

The poke listed on your profile is not what your character has. It is something used to out of character to create characters, buy stuff from stores on site (if they choose to use poke for transactions) and such. You can have your character have their own poke if you wish, but it is in no way related to your out of character currency.

Everything in threads is gained through encounters of the dice. You cannot spawn in items for your character without actually encountering them. You can however have items already in the character's possession in thread after gaining in through some means such as previous threads or buying them in shops.

I would also suggest going through the rules once more just in case you missed anything. Feel free to ask for help anytime like you have now. We are all willing to provide assistance if needed.

Okay, so actually I can send off my character with some poké at his disposal (and I know it won't be related to the 'out of character' currency) ... But what can I do with my character's poké then ? I've read the rules and checked the stores. Pretty much all the stores use poké listed in profiles (I understand that this is for the sake of fairness, so I won't judge).

What I meant by your character's poke is, you can have it for story or plot purpose. There is no "fairness" factor to it. Shops on the site usually use out of character poke listed in your profile. If you mean poke to use in shops and such, you can't just send in a character with poke. Shops run off your profile's poke "Out of character".

To make this simple, just go off your profile poke. All rules mentioning poke and the systems on the site run off your profile. We don't track poke per character.

Okay, people suck at explaining so I'll clarify, just to be safe and make sure you understand everything that's been said.

First off, your first character can't be a shiny, but that's only because you're only given 5,000 Poké to start of with.  If you save up enough Poké, your second character can be a shiny.

The Poké listed on your account is your OOC money that you can use to buy pretty much anything with any relevance.  You're free to say your character has as much money as you want, but you can't actually use that to get stuff; if you want to to get anything remotely useful, you'll either need to buy it from a user/shop with your OOC Poké or find it in a dungeon.  If you want your character to buy something IC, you'll have to use your own Poké to buy it OOC.  The only exception is if you want your character to buy some useless trinket like a necklace, in which case you don't have to pay for it, as long as you don't go overboard.
